Warning: Contains Spoilers for Nightwing #124!
Nightwing has just hit a Batman-level milestone by acquiring his own Robin. And no, it’s not one of the past or present Boy Wonders stepping up as Dick Grayson’s sidekick. The situation is far more complicated, involving a gun, a Nightwing-inspired patch, and a rabbit-loving orphan. Things are about to get seriously wild for Dick Grayson.
This moment is particularly epic because Bryce perfectly embodies the Robin spirit...
Readers of Dan Watters and Dexter Soy’s Nightwing run know that Dick has been working closely with Blüdhaven’s gangs to try to save them from police brutality and prevent chaos. In particular, he's been collaborating with The Teddies, a gang known for their animal-themed costumes, whose members are mostly minors—including a young boy named Bryce, who recently witnessed his brother being gunned down by the police.

Warning! This post contains Spoilers for Nightwing #122
The newest issue of DC's Nightwing reveals Dick Grayson's life could have gone down a much darker path, way back when he was Batman's very first Robin. In the present, Nightwing's city of Blüdhaven has been thrown into chaos thanks to a massive gang war and a new company named Spheric Solutions arming the police with brutal advanced weaponry to "keep the peace". However, Nightwing and Barbara Gordon have found evidence not only that the company's CEO is behind the gang war, but was also a Gotham villain from Grayson's past.
In the new Nightwing #122 by Dan Watters and Dexter Soy, Nightwing recounts his history as Batman's first Robin and their encounter with the Cirque du Sin, a traveling circus of crime luring the rich and wealthy not to rob them, but to slaughter them following their performance. It's here that Robin meets Colombina,...

Dick Grayson’s most iconic Robin catchphrase has officially returned to mainstream continuity, and it’s even more ridiculous than ever—in the absolute best way. This return has only deepened my obsession with Dick’s latest Nightwing run, making me truly believe it’s one of his best yet.
..I’m absolutely obsessed that Watters has brought this delightfully ridiculous aspect of Dick’s character back.
Dan Watters and Dexter Soy’s Nightwing #122 is still a few days away from its official release on January 15, 2025, but fans can get an early taste with a five-page preview from DC. This sneak peek picks up the chaos that has become Dick Grayson’s life as he confronts Bludhaven’s commissioner over her decision to arm the city’s police force with military-grade weapons courtesy of Spheric Solutions.
He chastises her for accepting these weapons from Olivia Pearce, the CEO of Spheric Solutions,...

Warning: Spoilers for Nightwing #121!Historically, Nightwing has gone out of his way to differentiate himself from Batman. Of course, that isn't to say the her3o necessarily hates his mentor. The pair's relationship carries a complicated history, but the love between Nightwing and Batman is undeniable. It's just that he doesn't want to harbor the same level of darkness - specifically the anger - it takes for Bruce Wayne to be Batman.
Dick Grayson shows he may be more like Batman than he realizes in Nightwing #121 by Dan Watters, Dexter Soy, Veronica Gandini, and Wes Abbott. In a moment of anger, Nightwing exposes the darkness inside of him that echoes the anger within Batman, all expressed in one simple quote: "I am unhappy with you."
Moments like this single panel showcase how, whether he wants to admit it or not, Nightwing is more like Batman than either of them may realize.

Warning: Contains Potential Spoilers for Nightwing #121!In the ongoing debate over who the smartest member of the Bat-Family is, the contenders are typically Bruce “Batman” Wayne, Barbara “Batgirl” Gordon, and Tim “Robin” Drake. While each hero has demonstrated their nearly unparalleled intelligence through a myriad of impressive feats, Nightwing has recently reminded readers just how extraordinary one of these Bat-Family members truly is when it comes to intellectual prowess.

In Nightwing #120 by Dan Watters and Dexter Soy, Dick begins his investigation into Spheric Solutions—a company specializing in weapons designed to kill superheroes—by breaking into its facilities as Nightwing. However, his intelligence-gathering efforts are quickly thwarted by the company's heavily weaponized security system.

Nightwing’s no stranger to dealing with younger heroes, but his latest adventure is hinting that he might soon be getting a sidekick, or a Robin, who might be too much for even him to handle. Dick Grayson might not want a sidekick, but he doesn't have much room to argue. He was Robin when he was a kid, and it’s not like Dick can just stop being a positive influence on younger generations.
In Nightwing #121 by Dan Watters, Dexter Soy, Veronica Gandini, and Wes Abbott, Dick Grayson saves a group of troubled kids who have become a Blüdhaven street gang, and this encounter could lead to Dick getting his own Robin or Teen Titans analogue.

Warning: Contains Potential Spoilers for Nightwing #121!
Nightwing is proving once and for all that he is his own hero, redefining his crime-fighting tactics and moving further away from the lessons—and perhaps even the morals—instilled in him by Batman. However, the question remains: will Dick Grayson’s new approach to heroism see him surpass the Dark Knight, or will it result in a fall from grace?
Dan Watters and Dexter Soy’s takeover of the Nightwing run from Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo has ushered in a new era for the Original Boy Wonder, introducing not only fresh villains and challenges but also significant changes to Dick’s crime-fighting tactics—changes both he and Batgirl admit Batman would disapprove of.
These shifts first became apparent in issue #119, the debut of Watters and Soy’s run, and their latest release, issue #121, further cements that Dick has little regard left for Bruce’s methodology and code.

Batman: Dark Patterns is exactly what it sounds like: an incredibly dark, realistic, detective story featuring the Caped Crusader. It’s gritty, realistic, and impeccably written by Dan Watters and drawn by Hayden Sherman, who is the artist behind Absolute Wonder Woman. To anyone who is a fan of the Dark Knight or comics in general, I highly recommend this book.
Spoilers for Batman: Dark Patterns #1.
The issue starts with Batman providing an internal monologue, quite reminiscent of The Batman. Bruce thinks about local Gotham kids who play chicken on the train tracks, many of which die, but they keep doing it. There are vicious dogs roaming the streets and being allowed to do so because locals “rescue” them and set them free. The message is this: people don’t want change; they stick to their patterns, no matter how dark. It is a fantastic opener for the comic.

Warning: Spoilers for Batman: Dark Patterns #1Batman: Dark Patterns has launched its debut issue, and it fills a much-needed gap in the current roster of Batman titles. The majority of titles under DC's Batman umbrella fluctuate between different varieties of traditional superhero fare, usually with some elements of detective fiction. But Batman: Dark Patterns brings horror back into the Caped Crusader's world, returning what's been missing from the franchise.
A new miniseries, Batman: Dark Patterns by Dan Watters, Hayden Sherman, Tríona Farrell, and Frank Cvetkovic, takes readers back into Batman’s early career, with the series telling four self-contained cases of Batman solving the darkest and strangest crimes Gotham has to offer.
The first of these stories, "We are Wounded," involves Batman tracking down a serial killer with something more sinister at play. While the series focuses clearly on Batman’s early days as a detective, Watters and Sherman's...

Warning: Contains Potential Spoilers for Nightwing #118After three incredible years, Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo's Nightwing run reaches a bittersweet conclusion with four perfectly chosen words that capture both the emotional depth and the essence of this chapter in Dick Graysons history. Yet, this isn't a true ending for the Boy Wonder. Instead, this closing marks the beginning of something new, setting the stage for whats to come.

While Cobra Commander may have formed the Cobra organization in the Energon Universe at the end of his own self-titled miniseries, the pieces of the infamous G.I. Joe enemy faction are still falling into in place. Destro #2 fills in the ranks with some classic enemy troopers, as the Crimson Guard get a fresh new origin in the franchise's new continuity.

Bloodwynd has more powers than Superman, such as telepathy, illusions, and invisibility. Bloodwynd's abilities include retrocognition for solving crimes, teleportation for quick travel, and pain absorption to help victims. Bloodwynd's Sentence Stare is his strongest power, forcing criminals to feel the pain of their actions.
Superman is one of the strongest characters in DC's history and has an absurd assortment of abilities, but the hero Bloodwynd, also known as the Superman of Hell, actually has a few more. While Superman is famous for his list of abilities, his powers rarely veer into the supernatural, and that's exactly where Bloodwynd excels.
Bloodwynd isn't a new hero; he's been part of DC's larger universe for a while. But he has recently resurfaced in the pages of Action Comics with a more streamlined origin and is coming back to mainstream attention. This is great news, since Bloodwynd is incredibly powerful and has plenty of abilities that Superman doesn't.

1954's "The Creature From The Black Lagoon" was the last gasp of Universal Pictures' black-and-white horror heyday. Pivoting away from literary adaptations towards something more resembling contemporary man-in-suit monster movies, "Black Lagoon" introduced one last staple of the Universal Monster line-up: The Gill-man. A missing link in the evolutionary chain, the amphibian man has the same mix of terror and lovelorn pathos as his monstrous brethren.
It's not quite the pop-culture staple that "Dracula" and "Frankenstein" are, but "The Creature From The Black Lagoon" has been reimagined many times (most famously in 2017 with Guillermo del Toro's Best Picture-winning oddball romance "The Shape of Water" — it was almost black-and-white like "Black Lagoon" too). Now a new comic book starring the Gill-Man comes forth from Skybound Entertainment, boasting a title that belongs to a forgotten Universal Horror picture: "The Creature From The Black Lagoon Lives!"
Skybound isn't just revitalizing "The Transformers" and "G.I. Joe.
