Not only can Eminem rhyme many great words with silver, but the rap god also delivers an impressively compelling documentary. Following its SXSW London debut in June, and a limited theatrical release earlier this month, the Eminem-produced Stans documentary will stream exclusively via Paramount+ starting Tuesday, August 26th. Seriously, what rhymes with “must watch”?
You already know the score: “Stan” debuted on 2000’s eternally great The Marshall Mathers LP, and instantly gave the world a language in discussing and exploring obsessive fans and the complicated artist-audience relationship.
Directed by Emmy-winning auteur/journalist Steven Leckart, Stans expertly explores the “complicated relationship between one of the world’s most private artists and his massive public persona.” It relies primarily on archive footage and brand new interviews to delve intimately and unwaveringly into “Eminem’s career and the passionate audience that has grown with him.” Plus, we see Devon Sawa assume his role...

Eminem’s stans know when they can catch the rapper's documentary Stansat home, as the movie gets a streaming release date.
A superfan is called a stan thanks to Eminem’s massive 2000 hit about an admirer whose love has crossed the line into obsession. 25 years after “Stan” coined the term by which over-zealous fans will forever be known, the documentary Stans takes a look Eminem’s own most committed acolytes, and their complicated relationship with their reluctant idol.
Stans received a four-day theatrical run on AMC screens, and now it’s headed for the home market, setting a streaming release date of August 26, 2025 on Paramount+, Paramount confirms. The film’s director Steven Leckart said in a statement:
’Stan’ is one of the most unconventional songs ever written, where the story is mostly told from a fan’s perspective, so this film was an incredible opportunity to find a unique approach.

Paramount+ today announced that following a highly successful limited theatrical run, the ambitious and unconventional new Eminem-produced documentary, Stans, directed by Emmy-winning director Steven Leckart, will exclusively debut on the service in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and Brazil on Tuesday, August 26.
The film will then premiere on Wednesday, August 27, in the U.K., Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, followed by Japan on October 3.
Released in 2000, Eminem’s song “Stan,” about an obsessive, unstable fan, remains iconic. So iconic that the term stan was officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017. The song and its storyline serve as a guiding light for this unconventional and fully authorized feature, which follows a cast of real-life stans whose deep personal connections to Eminem mirror some of the many themes found throughout his lyrics.

If your tea’s gone cold and you’re wondering when Eminem’s documentary Stans will be on streaming, then you’ve come to the right place.

Hey, it could be worse: Stans won’t be available on Paramount+ Japan until Oct. 3.
Eminem’s massive hit song “Stan” turned 25 this year — the emcee was only 28 when the single (and its album, The Marshall Mathers LP), were released. There are so many ways to promote a film, from press releases to first looks, trailers, cast interviews, and more. But lately, the coolest part of new movie releases has been the themed popcorn buckets. From Freakier Friday to Superman, Fantastic Four: First Steps, and beyond, a slew of recent features have released unique popcorn buckets to get moviegoers hyped about the production. Some people have even begun collecting these buckets for fun — or have been making a profit reselling them to fans who couldn't get their hands on one. The latest project to drop a bucket for its release isEminem's documentary, Stans. Contrary to reasonable assumption, it isn't microphone-shaped, or anything related to the process of making music. Instead, it's a pill bottle.
A photo of the bucket was posted on X (formerly Twitter) by the popular film account DiscussingFilm, and with roughly 51,000 likes and over two hundred comments,...

A peculiar thing happens when an artist becomes a cultural landmark: the story ceases to be about them. It becomes about the people who listen. The documentary Stans is ostensibly about the rapper Eminem, yet he is present more as a gravitational force than a subject. The film’s true focus is on the planets and asteroids caught in his orbit.
Directed by Steven Leckart, this is an exercise in narrative inversion, exploring a legacy not through the creator but through the receivers. Its title is, of course, derived from the artist’s iconic 2000 song, a chilling epistolary tale of obsessive fandom gone wrong. The term’s lexical journey from a specific, dark warning to a generic (and often proud) label for intense devotion is one of the more curious linguistic shifts of the new millennium.
The documentary gives a platform to the modern bearers of this title, letting them articulate the bond they feel.

The word "stan" is used more now than ever before, describing superfans who take their "job" of being a fan seriously. They do all they can to protect, support, defend, and get close to their favorite celebrities. Whether it's creating a fan page, camping outside their hotels, bullying other celebs/ non-fans, or more, stans can be the top-tier supporters in a celebrity's fan base. These individuals are among a range of dominant fan bases, including Beyoncé's Beehive, Nicki Minaj's Barbz, and Eminem's Stans. The word actually came from his 2000s song of the same name, where the Detroit legend raps about an obsessed supporter. Now, it's the name of the upcoming documentary, Stans, set to be released on August 7.

Eminem will co-produce a documentary called Stans about superfans, exploring the relationship between fame and super fandom. The documentary will be a revealing and personal journey into the world of superfandom, focusing on Eminem and his fans. Stans will be developed by Shady Films, with planned distribution from Paramount/MTV, and is set to be released later this year.
Acclaimed rapper Eminem will co-produce a documentary all about superfans, also known as ‘Stans,’ for his own Shady Films. According to a report by Variety, Marshall Mathers, aka Eminem, whose hugely popular song from 2000, Stan, popularized the term ‘Stan’ for “overzealous or maniacal fans of a celebrity or personality,” will help develop the project with planned distribution from Paramount/MTV.
A synopsis for Stans has also now been released, which you can check out below.

Eminem is producing Stans, from director Steven Leckart, about just how intense fans can get: more here.
It took me a little while to work out that the idea of ‘standom’ – a particularly fanatical kind of fandom – emanated from the Eminem song ‘Stan’ from the year 2000. I wouldn’t mind, I bought the sodding single as well.
Anyway. Eminem is returning to the world of Stans with a documentary feature film that his company is backing. Cunningly, said documentary will be going by the name of Stans, and Eminem is listed amongst the co-producers of the project.
He’s not the director though, so let’s have a paragraph or two on him. Steven Leckart is the person in question, and he’s previously directed Challenger: The Final Flight. He also co-wrote the TV series Legacy: The True Story Of The LA Lakers, which hasn’t made it to these shores.

Eminem is fittingly set to co-produce, and be the partial focus of, a new documentary about obsessive superfans, tentatively (and obviously) titled Stans.

After inadvertently coining the term “stan” on his 2000 song of the same name, Eminem is now set to co-produce Stans, a documentary about overzealous superfans.
As first reported by Variety, the new documentary will be a “revealing, edgy, and disarmingly personal journey into the world of superfandom, told through the lens of one of the world’s most iconic and enduring artists, Eminem, and the fans that worship him.” While Eminem may not be the first artist that comes to mind when thinking of overreaching fans in 2024, his chilling track “Stan” laid the groundwork for describing the type of parasocial relationship that many fanatics have with their favorite artists.
Eminem will co-produce the documentary under his Shady Films banner, with Steven Leckart serving as its director. A release date is unconfirmed, but the film is slated to come later this year. Eminem’s longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg, and Shady Films...

Meghan McCain is so done with TV.
After four years on “The View,” the political lightning rod needed a breather.
“This is so superficial,” McCain says when asked why she does not miss being on television every day. “My hair and skin were so thrashed because I wore hair extensions, and bleached my hair and had to wear full camera face makeup every day. Just the idea of having to get my hair wrecked and my face wrecked again is reason enough for me not to miss television.”
With a laugh, she exudes a sense of calm: “My hair looks so good now. My skin looks so good.”
“And,” McCain adds, “I don’t always know that everything needs my opinion.”
What McCain does miss, however, is talking about the news. And so, she’s launching her own podcast and production company.

A new documentary from Hulu seeks to capture the legacy of the Los Angeles Lakers.
The streamer today dropped the first teaser trailer for Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers, from director and executive producer Antoine Fuqua. This teaser offers insight from Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Rob Lowe, and others about the rise of the Lakers. No premiere date has been set.
The ten-part docuseries is executive produced by Lakers CEO and controlling owner, Jeanie Buss. It was in development well before the March premiere of HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, which has taken hits for, among other things, depicting Jerry West as a foul-mouthed and moody man. In a column, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wrote “Jerry Buss is egomaniac entrepreneur, Jerry West is crazed coach, Magic Johnson is sexual simpleton, I’m pompous prick. They are caricatures, not characters.”

Hailing from director and executive producer Antoine Fuqua, the new series aims to capture the rise and success of one of the most dominant and iconic franchises in professional sports by featuring exclusive access to the Buss family and revealing interviews with players, coaches and front office executives.
When charismatic real estate tycoon Dr. Jerry Buss purchased the Lakes in a risky and complex business deal, he faced a legion of doubters. But Buss pioneered the business of basketball by kicking off the “Showtime” era in 1979. He raised the price of floor seats, introduced dancers and a live band, opened an exclusive private club inside the arena and cultivated famous fans in Hollywood.
