A sequel is officially in the works for Bend It Like Beckham, the British cult sports hit starring Parminder Nagra and Keira Knightley. The original movie, which debuted in the UK in 2002 and in the US in 2003, followed Nagra's Jess and Knightley's Jules as they played for a small amateur women's team in London and pursued their dream of a soccer career in the States.

Now, 23 years later, director and writer Gurinder Chadha has confirmed to Deadline that she's working on a sequel. The BAFTA-nominated filmmaker has teamed up with the current head coach of the US women's national soccer team and her husband and co-writer, Paul Mayeda Berges, to develop the concept and script.

Chadha told Deadline that she'd finally come up with an idea for the sequel "last month," 23 years after the movie's original premiere.

Things get a bit interesting at last in the sixth episode of Lazarus, as the team has to deal with a The Wicker Man meets Transcendence situation while searching for Skinner. No, the titular group of former fugitives hasn’t been able to track down the scientist who doomed humanity on a whim just yet, but at least the prospect of a cult of an AI god having potential clues regarding the present crisis is more intriguing than whatever was happening so far. Also, the current episode provides much-needed exploration of Eleina’s background, which is more engrossing than otherwise expected. Still, there are several drawbacks in this episode as well. Given the ending is written hastily, a number of themes addressed in the episode could have been explored with more depth, and ultimately it leaves viewers with more questions than answers.

The Midnight Madness lineup features 10 titles, seven of which are World Premieres. The Discovery lineup, which primarily boasts World and International Premieres, includes 26 titles. Notably, 13 female filmmakers representing 50% of the total are featured in this year’s Discovery program.

"The countdown will begin three hours before the rocket’s lift off. The rocket is expected to lift off at 11.30 a.m. on Friday. The countdown time is less as it is a small rocket," a senior official of the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) told Ians.

Further, the single-stage rocket is powered with solid fuel which has also cut down the countdown time.

The official said the rocket will fly off from the Isro’s sounding rocket launch pad at the Sriharikota rocket port.

On Friday, Skyroot Aerospace is expected to become India’s first private sector company to develop and fly a rocket.

The Hyderabad-based rocket startup was founded by Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka in June 2018. Till date, the company has raised Rs 526 crore funds and has about 200 employees.

Its 545 kg, six-metre-long rocket will carry three satellites from Space Kidz India, Bazoomq Armenia, and N-Space Tech India.
