Julianne Nicholson dances her way to the top of the Comedy Guest Actress Emmy predictions for ‘Hacks’
Image
Looks like Dance Mom will boogie all the way to the Emmy podium.

Julianne Nicholson, who played the joyous (and drug-addicted) character on Hacks Season 4, now leads the Best Comedy Guest Actress race, taking down longtime frontrunner Jamie Lee Curtis for The Bear, who won last year. Nicholson's Dance Mom, aka Mary Alice, was recruited by Paul W. Downs' Jimmy and Megan Stalter's Kayla to appear on Late Night With Deborah Vance as a way for the talk show-within-a-show to gain a younger audience. At first, Jean Smart's Deborah was hesitant to let the untested woman take the stage, until she realized it would annoy Hannah Einbinder's Ava, and then all bets were off.

There's a new Hacks tonight, but I have not yet recovered from Julianne Nicholson dancing to Katy Perry's "Lifetimes" as Dance Mom in last week's episode. pic.twitter.com/SH3OPittFI

‘The White Lotus’ Emmy predictions: Which nominations will the cast and crew get?
Image
The White Lotus cast may have better luck at the Emmys in Los Angeles than their on-screen counterparts did during their ill-fated Thai vacation. While tragedy shadowed the fictional guests at the resort, the series’ stellar Emmy track record hints at a much brighter fate this awards season.

Season 2 followed suit with five wins, among them Jennifer Coolidge’s win for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. In her now-iconic acceptance speech, Coolidge thanked creator Mike White, saying:

“Mike White, you have given me hope and changed my life in a million different ways. My neighbors are speaking to me. I mean it. I was never invited to one party on my hill and now everyone’s inviting me.”

As awards season heats up,...

Why Hulu Canceled How To Die Alone After One Season
Image
Airports always carry an air of possibility; everywhere you look, people are doing something new, visiting home, or embarking on a new chapter. Moments of transport in different entertainment mediums pack all that uncertainty into their gutters and move the viewer into a new headspace to consider what has been and what is to come. A show like "How to Die Alone" did double-duty in that regard, because Natasha Rothwell's Hulu series showed how much TV has grown in the last half-decade, and how far the medium still has to go. The streamer decided to cancel the series, citing low viewership, failing to recognize potential when it was staring them right in the face.

"How to Die Alone" is a comedy/drama starring Natasha Rothwell as Mel, an airport worker who's been in emotional limbo for some time and awakens to the possibility of her life being more than...

"Do I Mind That I Wasn't Paid More...?" Jason Isaacs Confirms How Much All The White Lotus' Cast Members Were Paid
Image
The White Lotus star Jason Isaacs has confirmed how much all the cast members of the anthology series were paid, revealing the series' true cost. The White Lotus season 3 included a number of high-profile stars in key roles, with Isaacs being only one recognizable name in the cast. Other core cast members include Natasha Rothwell, Walton Goggins, Carrie Coon, Michelle Monaghan, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aimee Lou Wood, and Scott Glenn. Each of the show's cast members had a core role to play in the story, with Isaacs being the lead for the Ratliff family's storyline.

Speaking with Vulture, however, Isaacs revealed that every star of The White Lotus was paid $40,000 per episode, no matter if they were a smaller actor or more established in the industry. The star explained how this price was small compared to typical lead actor payments for a TV series, but that most actors "would have paid...

Mark Ruffalo & Susan Sarandon Headline Anti-Trump ‘No Kings’ Protests
Image
Over the weekend, multiple stars joined the anti-Trump “No Kings” protesters in spirited disapproval.

On June 14, millions of people in hundreds of cities took to the streets to protest what they described as Donald Trump’s “authoritarian agenda.” These protests – of which there were over 2,000 – coincide with the recent immigration raids that have shaken communities and individuals across the country. The protest coincided with Trump’s 79th birthday and his military parade for the US Army’s 250th Anniversary.

The Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo spoke at Bryant Park’s protest in New York City, rallying the crowd, “It’s on us guys, literally, together, we’re the Avengers right now. No one’s gonna come and save us, man. Americans unite.” He was joined on stage by actress Susan Sarandon, who has previously run into trouble over her comments about Israel.

At the protest, MSNBC asked Ruffalo what was motivating the people to protest,...

No Kings Protest: Two and a Half Men’s Jon Cryer Shows up With Andor Shirt to Fight Donald Trump
Image
America saw a powerful response to President Donald Trump’s military parade with the nationwide No Kings protest, held across major and small cities, including Los Angeles. Among the thousands who participated were several notable Hollywood figures, including Two and a Half Men star Jon Cryer.

Cryer not only joined the protest but also made a subtle yet striking statement by wearing an Andor-inspired shirt. With its Rebel Alliance-style design and message, the shirt echoed the series’ anti-fascist themes, adding a symbolic layer to his presence at what has become one of the largest protest waves in recent American history.

Why Jon Cryer’s ‘Andor‘ statement at the Donald Trump protest is turning heads online?

Joining millions of others in the No Kings protest against Donald Trump’s military-style parade, actor Jon Cryer made a subtle but powerful statement that has quickly gone viral.

Jimmy Kimmel, Kerry Washington, Ayo Edebiri Join ‘No Kings’ Protests Against Trump Administration: ‘Love One Another. It Really Is as Simple as That’
Image
Hollywood is joining the fight.

On Saturday, cities across America marched against the Trump administration, participating in what has become known as the “No Kings” protests. With an acute focus on fighting back against Donald Trump’s aggressive deportation raids, the movement coincides with the president’s controversial military parade in Washington meant to celebrate the Army’s 250th anniversary. The date also happens to land on Trump’s birthday.

Along with thousands of U.S. citizens, industry leaders also stepped out to protest.

Jimmy Kimmel joined the “No Kings” rally in the South Bay of Los Angeles. He shared a photo on Instagram of himself and his parents at the protest, writing, “A huge, inspiring and yes – peaceful – turnout in the South Bay. I met many people who love this country and still believe it to be a force for good. I am grateful to see so many Americans...

Hollywood is out participating in the “No Kings” protests.

People are protesting all across the country, including in major cities like Los Angeles and New York City, against President Donald Trump and his policies, just hours ahead of his military parade for the U.S. Army’s 250th Anniversary in Washington on Saturday, which is also Trump’s birthday.

Mark Ruffalo spoke with MSNBC at a protest in New York City and was asked why people were out protesting in the rain “to send a message,” to which he responded, “Because we see our democracy is in real trouble.”

“We see a president who has made himself a king and dictator, and we don’t seen an opposition that’s powerful enough to stand up against the trampling of our rights and the trampling of the Constitution that’s happening every single day with executive orders, with the refusal to obey court orders,...

Mike White, filming ‘Survivor,’ sends message to ‘The White Lotus’ FYC event
Image
HBO's For Your Consideration event for Season 3 of The White Lotus kicked off Tuesday at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures with a message from the series creator Mike White, who couldn't make the event because he was on his way to an island. But as fans of Survivor know, he wasn't headed to the series' next luxurious locale.

The event then proceeded with a screening of the bloody season finale and two cast panels, both...

Mike White Is Going on ‘Survivor 50’ Because It’s “What I Have to Do to Get a Vacation These Days”
Image
At an Emmys FYC event for The White Lotus on Tuesday, creator Mike White made a special video appearance en route to his next gig — competing on Survivor‘s milestone 50th season.

White — who previously competed on the show in 2018 during its “David vs. Goliath” season, coming in second place — said via video message that he was on his way to “a hotel near the airport where I have to turn in my phone and stay the night before I fly to Fiji, because I don’t know if you know this but I’m going on Survivor. So by the time you see this I will either be out of the game or I’ll be starving on an island somewhere — either way, I hope you send me good wishes.”

He also sent his thanks to the audience for showing up to support the show and to his cast,...

The State of the Race

This year, the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series race is the most brutal acting category. “The White Lotus” Season 3 alone could fill all eight nomination slots, and there is an argument to be made that it’s deserved. The White Lotus Season 3 Actress Reveals Major Change Made To Greg & Belinda's Original Ending
Image
One of the key cast members of The White Lotus season 3 has revealed that there was initially a very different ending for her character in the finale episode. Natasha Rothwell, who reprised her role as Belinda from The White Lotus season 1, set in Hawaii, struck the deal of a lifetime after encountering the devious Greg, who goes by Gary in The White Lotus season 3, set in a tropical Thai setting. Since Belinda had a brief friendship with Jennifer Coolidge's iconic character Tanya in the first season of The White Lotus, she recognizes Greg in season 3 and looks into Tanya's mysterious death.

Rothwell recently revealed in an episode of Variety's Actors on Actors interview that the original ending of The White Lotus season 3 had Zion doing much more in his buyout negotiations with Greg. As a business major in college, Zion arrived at The White Lotus Thai resort to convince and assist his mom,...

'She Owed Him Nothing': The White Lotus Star Explains One of Season 3's Biggest Heartbreaks
Image
Natasha Rothwell recalled her pitch for Belinda's arc in The White Lotus Season 3. This included Belinda's moral predicament towards the end, and how that decision impacted her budding love story. Rothwell explained why Belinda left Pornchai heartbroken in the finale.

Belinda Lindsey has one of the best arcs in The White Lotus. She came out unscathed in Season 3, and her career prospects are looking bright; she can afford to quit her job at the White Lotus Hawaii. In an interview with Variety, Natasha Rothwell celebrated her character's newfound agency. She also has a message for fans who called out Belinda for leaving Pornchai, who was last seen pining for her in the finale.

"That pisses me off," she said. "People are just like, 'Oh, you just left Pornchai (played by Dom Hetrakul) on the side of the road.' She f—-- the dude one night. She had a one-night stand.

Natasha Rothwell Pitched Belinda’s ‘White Lotus’ Season 3 Storyline: ‘She Sees That She Has Power Over a White Man’
Image
Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda has been “The White Lotus” mainstay for three seasons, and this year the much put-upon character was faced with a moral conundrum that — just so happens — was Rothwell’s own doing.

“That storyline was my pitch,” Rothwell told Sterling K. Brown in their “Actors on Actors” interview for Variety.

This season, Belinda encounters Tanya’s (Jennifer Coolidge) widower and (she suspects) murderer Greg, (Jon Gries), who offers to buy Belinda’s silence. While son Zion (Nicholas Duvernay) helps up that payout to a multi-million dollar figure, Belinda takes hold of her own power in the situation.

“Listen, this is why I love Mike White. Originally it was Belinda’s son, Zion, running the show,” Rothwell explained. “I told Mike I really wanted to see Belinda have agency in this moment. Can she take over the negotiation in some way? What is an authentic way for her...

Natasha Rothwell and Sterling K. Brown Get Honest About ‘White Lotus’ Rewrites, Doomsday and Being No. 1 on the Call Sheet: ‘For the Longest Time I Thought It Meant Something’
Image
Natasha Rothwell is seeking a friend for the end of the world.

A beloved and fiery social media presence, the writer-actor-producer-showrunner hit a professional high this year with a triumphant return to HBO’s “The White Lotus.” She reprises her role as Belinda Lindsey, a masseuse trying to move on from the broken Season 1 promises of Jennifer Coolidge’s flaky heiress. But in real life, she confesses to Sterling K. Brown that she’s been researching underground doomsday vaults, given the state of global politics.

It’s the perfect topic for Brown, a three-time Emmy winner for projects like “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” and “This Is Us.” Teaming again with creator Dan Fogelman on Hulu’s streaming hit “Paradise,” Brown plays a Secret Service agent living in a city-sized bunker beneath a mountain in Colorado after a catastrophe on Earth. Close calls: The state of the 2025 Emmy drama race
Image
One year after the FX drama Shōgun left the drama field in the dust with a record-setting 18 Emmy Award victories, the category is more competitive than it has been in years.

At least four shows can make a serious case for being chosen as the eventual winner, starting with the odds-on frontrunner, Severance. The Apple TV+ drama series returned to the streamer three years after its acclaimed debut season landed 14 overall Emmy bids, including Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actor for Adam Scott, Best Drama Supporting Actor for John Turturro and Christopher Walken, and Best Drama Supporting Actress for Patricia Arquette. Thanks to a second season that consistently surprised and delighted its fans, the expectation is that Severance will significantly expand that nominations tally, potentially adding nominations for Britt Lower (Best Drama Actress), Trammell Tillman (Best Drama Supporting Actor), Zach Cherry (Best Drama Supporting Actor), and Dichen Lachman (Best Drama...

Editor’s note: Deadline’s It Starts on the Page (Drama) features 10 standout drama scripts in 2025 Emmy contention.

Audiences have come to expect Mike White to push boundaries as he explores the corrupting forces of wealth and privilege in his HBO anthology The White Lotus. Still, Season 3, set at the fictional resort chain’s Thai oasis, may be his most jaw-dropping yet.

As always, the eight-episode new installment, written and directed by White, begins with groups of ultra-rich socialites gathering for a week of rest and relaxation — or so they think. In reality, their lives are likely to be upended by the chaos that breaks out over the course of the week, which is pretty much guaranteed to leave at least one person dead.

The turning point for Season 3 is undoubtedly Episode 5, titled “Full-Moon Party.” The episode is set at the iconic full moon party on Koh Phangan. Brothers Saxon...

From sad to savage: 7 edgy comedies to stream on Hulu right now
Image
If your comfort shows involve dysfunction and dark humor, this list is for you.

“Adults” on Hulu (via FX) just dropped, and it’s already climbing the ranks of my favorite new comedies. It’s sharp, weird, and perfectly captures that messy pre-adult phase of life where you’re expected to be a grown-up but don’t feel like one (does that ever change?!). “Adults” got me thinking of other edgy comedies that capture some of that same (slightly unhinged) energy. FX does this kind of show really well, and you’ll notice more than a few FX titles in this list. If you’re in the mood for something a little offbeat, a little dark, and a lot funny, here are seven edgy comedies worth streaming right now on Hulu.

Top 7 edgy comedy shows streaming on Hulu right now:

No. 7: ‘You’re the Worst’

No. 6: ‘How to Die Alone’

Jason Isaacs Regrets Stirring Gossip About ‘The White Lotus’ Shoot: ‘I’d Like to Return to My Normal Life’
Image
Starring in “The White Lotus” is not for the faint of heart. Not only is shooting it a challenge, with Season 3’s production lasting half a year in the unpredictable weather of Thailand, but the attention put upon those involved once its released is not always easy for everyone.

“I’m quite glad that it’s abating now,” Season 3 star Jason Isaacs said in a recent roundtable conversation with The Los Angeles Times. “I’d like to return to my normal life, but I don’t know how people who are uber-famous deal with it.”

Even having been a part of the “Harry Potter” franchise, Isaacs was not prepared for the kind of publicity he received during “The White Lotus” run this year, as well as what it led to. During his “billions of interviews,” he tried to remain open and honest, expressing the difficulties of making the show, but...

Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren and, Of Course, Nicole Kidman Are Just Some of This Year’s Emmy Contender Overachievers
Image
Peak TV may be over, but it’s still Peak FYC for quite a few players both in front of and behind the camera. Because we’re no longer in the era of 22-episode seasons — once the rule, now the exception — the idea of exclusivity has been thrown out the door. That’s why you keep seeing your favorite actors all over your TV screens, as there seems to be no stopping of some stars’ work ethic.

Fine, I’m talking about you, Nicole Kidman. If there was ever an Mvp of the streaming era, it would be Kidman, whose output this season includes Netflix’s “The Perfect Couple,” Paramount+’s “Lioness,” AMC+’s “The Last Anniversary” and Hulu’s “Nine Perfect Strangers”.

Kidman is far from the only one. Of all the unlikely TV overachievers, Harrison Ford makes the grade this year for Apple TV+’s “Shrinking” and Paramount...

Emmy odds check-up: ‘The Pitt’ prognosis is positive as it creeps up on ‘Severance’
Image
Exactly three months ago, The Pitt was in 10th place for Best Drama Series; its vital signs have been steadily improving ever since.

By March, the Max medical procedural had jumped up to sixth place in Gold Derby's odds, and by April it was in the top four. Now, as word of mouth continues to grow, The Pitt has achieved its highest placement yet at No. 2, behind only the long-standing predictions leader, Severance.

The Pitt stars Emmy frontrunner Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, a senior attending physician who works a 15-hour shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. Each episode unfolds hourly in real time. Robby's fellow staff members include Taylor Dearden's Melissa "Mel" King, Katherine Lanasa's Dana Evans, Patrick Ball's Frank Langdon, and Shawn Hatosy's Dr. Jack Abbott.

While The Pitt gives viewers a nostalgic throwback feel to traditional broadcast dramas, Severance is celebrated...

Michelle Monaghan reveals the sweetest unscripted moment in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 (and the ladies’ water aerobics instructor)
Image
For many fans of The White Lotus' trip to Thailand, the final dinner shared by the women known as the Blonde Blob and the Toxic Trio will remain their fondest memory of the HBO series' third season. In the finale, TV star Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan) and her childhood best friends, New York City lawyer Laurie (Carrie Coon) and Austin socialite Kate (Leslie Bibb), sit down for one last awkward meal, with church-going conservative Kate declaring all their metaphorical gardens in bloom and famous Jaclyn insisting she's been on cloud nine all week despite feeling so deprived of attention that she cheated on her husband with the man she'd been trying to get divorced Laurie to bed.

But then, it’s Laurie's turn to speak, and she admits she's actually been sad, contemplating her misplaced faith in her career, love life, or motherhood saving her. She's had an epiphany, however: Time gives her life meaning,...

‘The White Lotus’ will enter these 20 Season 3 actors — along with surprise submission Ke Huy Quan — for the 2025 Emmys
Image
Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan could soon be adding an Emmy to his ever-growing awards mantel.

Gold Derby has learned that HBO will submit The White Lotus Season 3 in 39 categories at the 2025 Emmys, including for Best Drama Series and 21 of its cast members.

Quan had an uncredited voice role as Kenny Nguyen in one episode of Mike White's buzzy vacation series. Kenny is the person who calls up Jason Isaacs' Timothy Ratliff while he was vacationing with his family in Thailand to discuss the financial crimes they committed together. The Everything Everywhere All at Once star is being submitted in Best Character Voice-Over Performance, which recognizes off-screen acting talent.

As for Isaacs, he's one of nine White Lotus stars campaigning in Best Drama Supporting Actor, along with Walton Goggins as Rick Hatchett, Sam Nivola as Lochlan Ratliff, Patrick Schwarzenegger as Saxon Ratliff, Tayme Thapthimthong as Gaitok, Jon Gries as "Gary"/Greg Hunt,...

‘The Last of Us’ Emmy odds shake-up: With Kaitlyn Dever going guest, Isabela Merced jumps up in supporting
Image
Last week, HBO announced that The Last of Us scene-stealer Kaitlyn Dever would be campaigning as a guest star, as opposed to a supporting actress, for the zombie apocalypse drama. That left an opening in Gold Derby's Best Drama Supporting Actress Emmy odds that has since been filled by ... drumroll, please ... her costar Isabela Merced.

Dever plays Abby, a soldier who seeks revenge against Joel (Pedro Pascal) in Season 2 for the death of her father in Season 1. Since Dever has only appeared in two episodes (so far), she's eligible to compete as a guest star for The Last of Us because of the TV Academy's "less than 50 percent" ruling. The 28-year-old will also be on the Emmy ballot for Apple Cider Vinegar in Best Limited Series/Movie Actress.

Merced is another newcomer to The Last of Us this year, playing the free-spirited Dina, the romantic interest of Ellie (Bella Ramsey...

How Natasha Rothwell helped Belinda get her groove back in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3
Image
Most fans of The White Lotus believe we’ll see Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda again. But if the character’s Season 3 exit sailing off into the Thai sunset with her son, Zion (Nicholas Duvernay), $5 million richer is the last we see of the spa manager, it’s a well-deserved happy ending for both the fan favorite and the actress who plays her.

Rothwell earned an Emmy nomination for the HBO series' first season, which ended with the death of Hawaii-based Belinda’s dream to open her own spa after investor Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge) pulled out. Rothwell watched Sicily-set Season 2 as a fan, and knew that Tanya had died trying to escape a hit orchestrated by her husband, Greg (Jon Gries). When she binged creator Mike White’s scripts for Season 3, and read that Belinda’s exchange program was complicated by her recognizing resort restaurant patron "Gary" as Greg, Rothwell couldn't...

Jason Isaacs On Timothy’s “Bliss” In The ‘The White Lotus’ Finale & Vindication For His North Carolina Accent [Interview]
Image
When “The White Lotus” season three first dropped on viewers’ television screens earlier this year, there were many keyboard critics of the southern accents adopted by stars Jason Isaacs and Parker Posey. As the series went on, those rumblings diminished, but Isaacs was always confident in his choices. Speaking to The Playlist earlier this month, he touts, “I can do magic, I can juggle, and I can do accents.”

Read More: Natasha Rothwell pitched Belinda’s big moment in “The White Lotus” Season 3 [Interview]

Then again, his accent skill, in this case, a very researched articulation from Durham, North Carolina, is what he jokingly considers a “tremendous psychological weakness.” He admits, “I’ve always code-switched.

The White Lotus Season 3's Natasha Rothwell Responds To Belinda Backlash
Image
In season 3 of the supposed anthology series "The White Lotus" (which creator Mike White set in Thailand after visiting Hawai'i and Italy in the show's first two outings), audiences get to reconnect with Belinda Lindsey (played by Natasha Rothwell), a spa employee who first showed up in Maui back in season 1. Belinda visits the Thailand outpost of the fictional White Lotus chain to learn from the wellness staff there, largely because this location bills itself as being hyper-focused on wellness. However, she ends up getting a lot more than she bargained for.

I should rephrase that. Belinda ends up quite literally bargaining for $5 million dollars from her old acquaintance Greg Hunt (Jon Gries), whom she met back in Maui, so that she'll continue to keep his many, many secrets. While that's certainly not what Belinda thought would happen in Thailand, that's how everything shook out. So, does Rothwell think Belinda is evil now?...

Natasha Rothwell Pitched Belinda’s Big Moment In ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 [Interview]
Image
Secrets are part of the game for anyone involved in Mike White’s “The White Lotus.” While each season has so far fixated on the mysterious, unidentified dead body at the beginning of every first episode, other major revelations have to be kept hush-hush. Natasha Rothwell, who plays an employee of the hotel chain in both season one and season three, knows the drill better than anyone. Not only did Rothwell get to return to “The White Lotus” for its escape to Thailand, but she got to send her beloved character Belinda off into a much more secure future.

Breaking: ‘The Pitt’ star Noah Wyle takes the lead in latest Emmy odds for Best Actor
Image
The Emmy race for Best Drama Actor just received a shot of adrenaline.

For the first time since Gold Derby's 2025 Emmys predictions center opened in February, Noah Wyle is leading the odds in this topsy-turvy category. The Pitt star has overtaken Adam Scott (Severance), who has been in the No. 1 position since early March. Before that, Gary Oldman (Slow Horses) was the frontrunner.

Max's real-time hospital drama has been on a major upswing since its final episodes streamed in April. In one buzzed-about moment, Wyle's character, Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, had a mental breakdown after a concert shooting brought dozens of patients into his emergency room, including his quasi-stepson's new girlfriend. Wyle is a five-time Emmy nominee for ER (1995-99), but this would be his first win.

For Best Drama Series, The Pitt is now tied with The Last of Us in second place, both behind Severance. Taylor Dearden as...

‘The White Lotus’ Star Natasha Rothwell Defends Belinda For “Centering Herself”
Image
Following the Season 3 finale of The White Lotus, Natasha Rothwell is shutting down critics of Belinda’s “good for her” moment.

The 2x Emmy nominee defended the character’s choice to leave Thailand after successfully blackmailing Greg (Jon Gries) to stay quiet about him likely killing his late wife Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), reasoning that it doesn’t mean Belinda has an evil streak.

“I don’t think so,” she told People. “I think her heart is good, but I do think that she was flirting with being a baddie by taking this money. So I don’t think she’ll turn bad, but I do think there’s maybe a consequence by all those decisions have, sort of that yin and yang.”

Rothwell thinks Belinda could suffer consequences in a future season “as a result of the decision she made,” adding: “Who knows? I don’t even know if she’s coming back.

Allison Janney enters Emmy race as a supporting actress for ‘The Diplomat’ (exclusive)
Image
An Emmy favorite has made a category decision that could have a huge impact on this year's awards. Gold Derby has exclusively learned that Allison Janney will submit as Best Drama Supporting Actress for the second season of The Diplomat. She is already a seven-time winner in acting categories at the Primetime Emmys, so an eighth win would tie her for the record with TV Hall of Fame inductees Cloris Leachman and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Janney joined the Netflix series for its second season, which began streaming on Oct. 31. She only appeared in two episodes as U.S. Vice President Grace Penn, giving her the option to submit either as a guest actress or supporting actress.

Her role in The Diplomat previously earned nominations for supporting actress at the 2025 Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards. She was also nominated at the SAG Awards against costar Keri Russell despite the Screen Actors Guild...

Pedro Pascal, whose beloved character Joel had a brutal run-in with a golf club in the second episode of Season 2, has jumped from fourth place to third place in Best Drama Actor. Meanwhile, series newcomer Isabela Merced, who plays the free-spirited zombie apocalypse survivor Dina, has ascended from ninth place to eighth place in Best Drama Supporting Actress. Brands Are Subtly Embracing Hollywood — and Filmmakers Want to Work with Them
Image
Before Hailey Gates made her Sundance-winning feature film “Atropia,” the young filmmaker was attempting to make a short film, “Shako Mako,” based on the real-life military training village she ended up depicting in the feature. The fashion brand Miu Miu, as part of its Women’s Tales filmmakers series, helped make it happen. The brand provided clothing, some financing, and other resources, but — above all — was hands-off with the creative.

An Afghanistan War satire might not seem like a particularly relevant brand association for an upscale fashion line, but for Miu Miu, just being in Gates’ orbit makes an impact. Jett Steiger and Lana Kim, who produced “Atropia” via banner Ways & Means, said it’s all about brands trying to find authentic ways to engage with consumers: making content their customers would want to watch, dispatching cool female filmmakers to parties, and using those connections to fuel good PR.
