A month before its scheduled return to the Amalie Arena in Tampa, the Creator Clash has found itself engulfed in YouTube drama. Representatives for the influencer boxing showdown announced a move to Los Angeles and a postponement of its third go-around days after Creator Clash Co-Founder Ian ‘iDubbbz’ Jomha announced that he would step away from the event.
Creator Clash 3 is now slated to take place at the Hollywood Palladium in L.A. on October 25. A new lineup of creator fighters is expected to be announced in July.
The original Creator Clash, which took place in 2022, showcased the intense training and dedication that is required for a proper influencer boxing spectacle. The event was a success, reaching a sold-out live crowd and a 100,000-strong pay-per-view audience while raising money for charity along the way. The YouTube channel Epic Meal Time was an unlikely viral phenomenon that took the internet by storm in the early 2010s. Its brilliant yet deceptively simple premise of creating outrageously unhealthy fast food concoctions resonated immensely with a certain subset of viewers. Episodes like the staggeringly caloric “Fast Food Lasagna” and “Turbacon Epic Thanksgiving” special would build anticipation by meticulously assembling and teasing the final caloric monstrosity, while also tapping into ephemeral cultural trends of the time like the obsession with bacon and the exaggerated macho bro persona embodied by host Harley Morenstein.
This novel format combined shocking excess, culinary debauchery, frat boy humor, and a liberal dose of alcohol into a perfect storm of viral wildfire, generating massive word-of-mouth buzz that rapidly propelled Epic Meal Time from a low-budget cooking channel to one of the biggest presences on the entire YouTube platform within its first few years. Michelle Khare and Andrea Botez are ready to rumble.
They—along with more than 20 other creators—will duke it out during Creator Clash 2, the sequel to last year’s much-watched influencer boxing event.
Botez, who’s 20, is a chess pro and full-time creator with more than a million subscribers on YouTube and a million followers on Twitch. She’s won the U8 Girls Canadian Youth Chess Championship, the Susan Polgar National Open, and in 2015 was named women’s chess champion by the British Columbia Chess Federation.
Khare, who’s 30, has 3.5 million subscribers on YouTube and is known for her “challenge accepted” approach to content, where she’s tried everything from Marine bootcamp to runway modeling to training like an astronaut and joining the U.S.’s No. 1 cheer team.

11 months after it ushered in a new era of influencer boxing, the Creator Clash is coming back for a second round. The creator-on-creator face-off will return to the Amalie Arena in Tampa on April 15, 2023.
The organizer of the Creator Clash will return to compete in its main event. Last year, commentary creator iDubbbz (real name Ian Jomha) debuted in the ring and lost on points to Doctor Mike. For Creator Clash 2, iDubbbz will take on another opponent with boxing experience: Alex Wassabi. The vlogger was set to fight Ksi last year but withdrew before the bout took place.
Creator Clash 2 will offer entertainment far beyond its main card. Some participants from the first Creator Clash — including YodelingHaley, Arin Hanson, and Nathan ‘Dad’ Barnatt — will take on new challengers as part of the undercard. There will also be some bouts featuring new Creator Clash participants. I’ll have an eye on...

The killer moose movie Moose Jaws has been brewing in the mind of Kevin Smith for several years now. The project, which has always been described as simply “Jaws with a moose“, was meant to wrap up Smith’s True North Trilogy, which began with Tusk and continued with Yoga Hosers… but for some reason, it has proven to be more difficult to get Moose Jaws into production than its predecessors. The Moose Jaws problem may have been solved, as during a recent convention appearance Smith gave a positive update on the long-awaited horror film.
Speaking at GalaxyCon in Columbus, Ohio, Smith revealed that Moose Jaws is expected to be one of the next five movies he makes and will be a continuation of the working relationship he has established with Lionsgate. As he explained, “(Moose Jaws) is a movie I’ve been threatening to make for a long time,...

Longstanding digital network Studio71 has launched a new division called Studio71 Podcasts, which will distribute audio series hosted by social influencers targeting millennials listeners.
Studio71 first took note of the podcasting space last year, and began producing its own shows last March. Its roster currently comprises 11 shows hosted by bold-faced creators such as Christine Sydelko and Harley Morenstein, Digiday reports. And Sydelko’s show, Don’t Mess With Christine Sydelko, has been a veritable success, clinching an average of 75,000 listens per episode -- plus an additional 250,000 views on YouTube, where a video version of the show is also uploaded in its entirety.
By year’s end, Studio71 expects to double its current slate, per Digiday, to roughly 20 series that are releasing 80 to 100 episodes airing per month.

Studio71 wants to mine podcasts for more ad dollars by extending the reach of its stable of YouTube content creators into a new medium.
Over the past two months, the digital-media company has launched 11 podcasts with creator partners. Those include “Fanboi with Harley Morenstein,” featuring Morenstein (pictured above), the host and creator of Epic Meal Time. Morenstein’s podcast launched last week and hit the top five podcasts on iTunes for the Games and Hobbies category. Other include “Kayln’s Coffee Talk,” “Don’t Mess with Christine Sydelko,” and “Sh*t They Don’t Tell You” with Nikki Limo and Steve Greene.
The opportunity for Studio71 is to take digital influencers and deliver ad-supported audio-content for millennial and Gen Z audiences (18-34), said CEO Reza Izad. Podcast audiences historically have skewed older than that younger demo.

Epic Meal Time, one of the earliest viral food channels on YouTube that rocketed to renown thanks to clips that showcased the preparation of wildly caloric burgers and kooky concoctions like candy pizza, is now looking to feed the masses.
Epic Meal Time co-creator Harley Morenstein has launched a line of foods at Walmart stores nationwide dubbed Super Snack Time -- capitalizing on the eight-year-old channel’s propensity for indulgent and eclectic treats. The first product launch, dubbed Pizza In A Bag, is a pepperoni jerky that's available in three flavors: pepperoni, supreme, and buffalo. Each pepperoni is individually seasoned and sliced, according to a release, and the 2-oz. pizza-shaped bags will be sold for $4 apiece exclusively at Walmart checkout lanes.

Harley Morenstein is steering the Famous Food Truck into town. The man known as the co-founder of the Epic Meal Time YouTube channel is the star of the latest special from Scripps Lifestyle Studios' Genius Kitchen brand, in which he puts together some breakfast sandwiches alongside social media star Hayes Grier.
The Famous Food Truck of the special's title doesn't seem to refer to a world-renowned mobile restaurant, but rather to a roving kitchen that happens to have famous people inside it. Morenstein's signature touches, including his love of bacon and his tendency to bleep out curse words with wacky sound effects, are all present here, and his bold attitude drives the special, no pun intended. That said, the vibe is very easygoing, with Morenstein, Grier, and chef Lindsay Ames presiding over a loose, fun-loving culinary atmosphere.

Stars: Lily-Rose Depp, Harley Quinn Smith, Johnny Depp. Justin Long, Austin Butler, Adam Brody, Ralph Garman, Tony Hale, Natasha Lyonne, Haley Joel Osment, Vanessa Paradis, Tyler Posey, Génesis Rodríguez, Jennifer Schwalbach, Sasheer Zamata | Written and Directed by Kevin Smith
So, Kevin Smith… A man whose work I’ve really enjoyed over the years (Clerks 2 and Dogma being my personal highlights, though I used to live for Mallrats), took a, let’s say, interesting path with his recent directorial efforts Red State and Tusk. Exploring the horror genre rather than the comedy/drama he became known for, Smith looks to have a new-found passion for filmmaking, seemingly no longer going through the motions with his View Askewniverse – though he has just announced another Jay and Silent Bob flick!
Instead Smith announced the development of a “True North” trilogy: strange genre tales set in Canada, a country that – like Smith – I have an affinity for.

Superman Lives, The Green Hornet and sadly now Clerks III: here’s a rundown of the Kevin Smith films we’ll probably never see...
Kevin Smith has always had to fight to get his films off the ground: he started his filmmaking career by maxing out multiple credit cards to self-finance Clerks, and more recently, legend has it, it was only Johnny Depp’s decision to come on board as a wacky supporting character that allowed Smith to secure financing for his walrus-centric horror flick Tusk.
Smith has, across his career, been offered several barmy jobs (he rejected a chance to pen Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian back in the 90s) and he’s also signed up for a lot of projects that never got past the script phase.
The latter camp of could’ve-beens is what we’re talking about today, following that news that Clerks III...

New Form Digital is bringing a heavy beat to Go90. The former company, known for its digital productions led by social media stars, has announced Pulse, an “Edm musical” that will arrive on the Verizon-owned mobile video platform.
The star of Pulse will be Kate Findlay, best known for appearing on the AMC/Netflix drama The Killing. In her latest role, Findlay will portray Hannah Cooper, who takes in Berlin’s dance scene alongside her fellow American expats. In keeping with New Form’s mission to promote digital-native content creators, Pulse’s cast will include a pair of guest stars known for their online video work: Meg DeAngelis and Harley Morenstein.
Pulse is an interesting project for New Form because it was not incubated through the studio’s pilot process. Instead, it is being brought straight to Go90, where it will join other New Form productions like The Fourth Door and RePlay.

It’s no secret whatsoever that I’m a pretty big Kevin Smith fan, which is something I’ve said more than once on this site. Perhaps to some degree that’s why I’m so delighted by his recent foray into horror/genre work, but I’d also make the argument that Smith is exercising new muscles of late, and that’s indisputably exciting. Today, the anthology horror project Holidays is transitioning from its run at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival this month to a limited theatrical release, with Smith helming one of the segments. It’s one of the better ones in the flick too, so it’s a great excuse for me to pay tribute to a favorite in Smith once again. The movie is, as previously mentioned, an anthology horror tale, with different filmmakers taking different holidays and giving them a scary or just twisted spin. For example,...

Harley Morenstein is buddies with director Kevin Smith, and that friendship is opening up several big screen opportunities for the Epic Meal Time host. Morenstein is the star of a segment directed by Smith within the anthology horror film Holidays, which is now available from iTunes and other video on-demand platforms.
Holidays consists of eight segments, each of which is set during a yearly American celebration. The segments are all led by different directors, who each put their own gory spin on their holiday of choice. Smith, who rose to prominence after directing Clerks in 1994, is the most prominent director involved in the production, and his segment takes place during the scariest holiday of all: Halloween. Beyond Morenstein, the segment also stars Smith’s daughter, Harley Quinn Smith.

We haven't heard much about director Kevin Smith's new movie Yoga Hosers lately, since production wrapped back in June. The director debuted the first trailer at Comic Con, but it still hasn't been officially released yet, and the movie doesn't have a release date in place at this time. Yesterday, the director took to his Instagram page to provide an interesting update about the second installment of his True North Trilogy, which has been slapped with an R rating by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). The reason behind the rating, however, will certainly surprise you, as you can see in his lengthy statement below, which also reveals he's planning a summer release for the movie.
The #MPAA gave my kids movie @YogaHosers an R rating for a cartoony drawing of testicles on a book cover. So now, for the 4th time in my 22 year career, we will...

Growing up, I was a sucker for gimmicks. Blame my Mom. Every time a new M&M flavor (did you know they make Coconut and Cherry?) or Oreo remix hit the shelves, our house was the first on the block to sample it. I like to think it’s this upbringing that now influences my taste in horror films, like my adoration of holiday themes (Krampus! Gremlins!) and anthology collections. Or how about an entire horror anthology themed around major holidays, aptly titled – you guessed it – Holidays! It was going to take an act of Satan to keep me away from this one…
Let me start by confirming that yes, Holidays works. It’s an admitted mixed-bag of highs and lows (more highs), but that’s to be expected with eight *very* different segments. Some will love Kevin Smith’s Halloween whorishness, while others will start with their typical anti-Smith...

Darren and Harley Morenstein, the creators of YouTube’s most infamous cooking show, Epic Meal Time, have landed a development deal with the CBC, Canada’s national public radio and television broadcaster, to bring an original series to the small screen.
The scripted show, entitled Elebrity, explores the notion of overnight digital stardom, and will follow the trajectory of Herschel Bock, an eternal slacker who attempts to navigate his newfound fame. Elebrity is a creation of the Morenstein brothers’ production company, NextTime Productions, which was founded in 2011.
Elebrity was selected by the CBC through a program entitled the Jumping Screens Comedy Workshop -- a five-month training lab aimed to help three Canadian digital creative teams migrate their talents to other screens. The Workshop is a collaboration between the Canadian Film Centre (Cfc), a charitable organization that invests in the next generation of Canadian content creators, and the CBC. Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers premieres at The Sundance Film Festival this week, and in preparation for that, the writer and director has released the first clip. It introduces you to the two main characters, Colleen McKenzie and Colleen Collette, who are played by Smith's daughter Harley Quinn Smith and Johnny Depp's daughter Lily-Rose Depp. They are a couple of sophomores working behind the counter of a Manitoba convenience store, Eh-2-Zed, and the high school hottie walks in and invites them to a senior party. As you'll see, it kind of has a Clerks vibe to it.
The story centers on "two teenage yoga nuts who have an after-school job at a Manitoba convenience store called Eh-2-Zed. When an ancient evil rises from beneath Canada’s crust and threatens their big invitation to a 12th-grade party, the Colleens join forces with a legendary man hunter from Montreal...

Josh Elkin’s upcoming show will likely satisfy fans who boast a sweet tooth. The Epic Meal Time star will host the Cooking Channel baking competition show Sugar Showdown, set for release on October 1, 2015.

Rob Riggle as Frank West? That was all that I needed to know to be sold on seeing Dead Rising: Watchtower. Never mind the fact its based on one of the best zombie games of the last console generation – though we all know Left4Dead was The multiplayer zombie game – with a tongue in cheek story that played on the tropes of the genre, especially those found in the films of George A. Romero (after all, the first game was set in a mall!)
Dead Rising: Watchtower follows Chase Carter (Metcalfe), a reporter trying to make it big – but the pursuit of his career-defining story leads him into the heart of a zombie-infested warzone.

Collective Digital Studio has a new series that will appeal to YouTube's foodie crowd. The multi-channel network debuted the food game show series Win it for the Bar on the newly-launched Beer ‘N Stuff channel on June 29, 2015.
In Win it for the Bar, random bar and pub customers must correctly answer a set of food-inspired questions for a chance to win the entire establishment a round of free eats. The show host poses as the bartender, and then asks one bar patron, who unknowingly sat down in the hot seat, the culinary trivia questions. If the patron answers all questions correctly, everyone wins food; if a question is missed, the patron must buy someone a beer.

The “Darude -- Sandstorm” button prank isn’t the only April Fools' Day project YouTube participated in yesterday. Google’s online video site partnered with Chevrolet and online comedy network Jash to live stream a day full of surprises for the #BestDayEver marketing campaign on April 1, 2015.
Broadcast out of YouTube Space La, the #BestDayEver live stream was hosted by comedian Jon Dore and musical comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates. Throughout the day, the trio introduced various surprises live streamed from different parts of the country, including appearances from digital stars like Tyler Oakley, Rooster Teeth, and Harley Morenstein of Epic Meal Time. Traditional celebrities and athletes, such as Kelly Clarkson, Olivia Wilde, and the soccer team Manchester United, also showed up for their own dedicated segments meant to make people's days brighter.
The initiative was part of Chevrolet’s goal to raise awareness for the car manufacturer’s advances in technology and product design.

I’ll confess that the Dead Rising franchise is near and dear to my heart, ever since I logged countless hours running around the Willamette Parkview Mall with a katana and a “protective” horse-head mask. Boasting insane contraptions, hordes of ferocious zombies, and psychopathic boss battles, the original game features enough cinematic fodder to string together its own wacky animated feature, but the thought of a live-action Dead Rising movie still packed an exciting punch. Thus, Dead Rising: Watchtower was born.
Unlike the games, Watchtower follows the exploits of a young internet journalist named Chase Carter (Jesse Metcalfe). Frank West (Rob Riggle) is a part of the chaos, but he watches as a zombie quarantine goes horribly awry form the safety of a television news room. Chase is the one who finds himself caught in the action, as a new Zombrex-proof virus strain traps the infected inside an East Mission...

Last week we were treated to two new Dead Rising: Watchtower clips. The first featured Jesse Metcalfe as he weathers the beginning of a zombie apocalypse. The second clip had Rob Riggle as zombie expert Frank West extolling advice to anyone left alive. Now, Crackle and Legendary have unleashed the full-length trailer for this video game adaptation, and it promises to bring buckets of blood and quite a few laughs.
Dead Rising: Watchtower drops viewers right into the middle of a large-scale zombie outbreak. When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, four survivors must band together and evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic.
