Superyacht Experience Set for Monaco Grand Prix
Image
With less than two weeks to go before the Monaco Grand Prix, yachts will soon be coasting up the French Riviera. New to the scene this year will be Rd Grand Prix, a superyacht experience presented by Rosé Day and Agenxy Universe.

Set to debut May 23-25, and timed to Formula 1’s marquee race, Rd Grand Prix is designed as a “multi-sensory destination” and promises to be a sanctuary on the water during three days of programming, brand activations, entertainment and culinary delights aboard a 180-foot superyacht.

The program features a headline performance by Robin Thicke on Friday, with Evan Ross booked to host the night. The weekend’s roster will also spotlight DJs Ruckus, Cruz and Pookie, other unannounced performances and race viewing parties. As for the food, chef Marc Forgione (The Next Iron Chef) will oversee the menu, powered by HexClad. The innovative cookware will be utilized for...

City Harvest's 40th Anniversary Gala Raises $5 Million
Image
Last week, City Harvest, New York City’s first and largest food rescue organization, presented The 40th Anniversary Gala: House of Harvest, hosted by actor, model and producer Tyson Beckford, with décor by world-renowned celebrity event planner Colin Cowie.

The evening raised enough to provide more than 9.6 million meals for New Yorkers in need as they continue to grapple with record-high food costs, the end of federal aid programs, and the continued economic impacts of the pandemic.

The event honored the organization’s longtime Board Chair Jim Kallman and City Harvest’s frontline workers who were at the forefront of the organization’s work to help feed New Yorkers in need at the height of and throughout the pandemic. These frontline heroes helped rescue and distribute nearly 300 million pounds of food for New Yorkers across all five boroughs between March 2020 and June 2022 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Image
City Harvest Presents The 40th Anniversary Gala: House of Harvest featuring an elegant dinner with a one-of-a-kind live and silent auction brings together celebrities, influencers, and other high-profile individuals for the organization’s most important fundraising night of the year.

Marking 40 years serving New York City, all proceeds from the evening will support City Harvest’s work to rescue more than 75 million pounds of nutritious food this year–nearly 20% higher than pre-pandemic levels–and deliver it, free of charge, to help feed New Yorkers in need. City Harvest’s 2022 gala raised a record-breaking $5.2 million, enough to provide more than 12 million meals for New Yorkers in need. Now, as millions of New Yorkers face record-high food prices, expiration of federal supports, and the continued economic impacts from the pandemic, the need for food assistance in New York City remains high.

The event will honor the organization’s longtime Board Chair Jim...

Chopped: 10 Best Thanksgiving Episodes, According To IMDb
Image
On November 15, 2022, the Food Network's flagship program Chopped will show immense gratitude for teachers during its Thanksgiving episode, which will pay tribute to educators across America. The holiday episode will mark the 12 or 13th official Thanksgiving-themed episode since the show's inception in 2007 and the first since 2019, marking a rousing return for the feel-good and family-centric TV content.

While it's hard to deny the cheery holiday charms of the Chopped Thanksgiving episodes, IMDb voters have weighed in to separate the wheat from the chaff and decide which instances are the most delectable of the bunch.

Thanksgiving Champions (2019) - 8.2

In rare back-to-back Thanksgiving episodes aired in 2019, the first featured a fierce competition between former Chopped champions. Basket standouts included turkey testicles in the appetizer round, purple sweet potato pie in the entrée course, and a gummy turkey leg in the dessert round.

‘Iron Chef’ Reboot Cooked Up At Netflix
Image
Exclusive: Iron Chef is back in the kitchen after Netflix cooked up a deal to bring back the classic food format.

The streamer has ordered Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend, a reboot of the series that had a couple of incarnations in the U.S. including a Food Network series that featured the likes of Bobby Flay, Mario Batali and Wolfgang Puck.

Netflix has had previous success rebooting linear formats – arguably its biggest non-scripted hit has been Queer Eye, which is based on the Bravo series.

The series, which is expected to be dished up later this year, is based on a Japanese format from Fuji Television Network. It has been handed an eight-episode order.

The culinary competition, considered one of the toughest gastronomic challenges that chefs can face, will feature five new Iron Chefs, who will welcome Challenger Chefs to the reimagined Kitchen Stadium, where they’ll...

Denette Wilford: 'Chopped: All-Stars' Finale: Symon Says
Chopped (2007)
The week foodies have been waiting for has finally arrived -- at least in Canada. Lucky Americans already know who won the $50,000 for their charity in the final episode of "Chopped: All-Stars" (which aired Sunday night in the U.S.) but I've avoided any and all spoilers leading up to Tuesday's Canadian finale.

The final four consists of Michael Symon (who beat out fellow Iron Chefs Cat Cora, Marc Forgione and Jose Garces), Jeffrey Saad (who took on Aarti Sequeira, Keegan Gerhard and Marcela Valladolid), Penny Davidi (who battled former "Next Food Network Star" contestants Vic "Vegas" Moea, Chris Nirschel and Justin Balmes) and Marcus Samuelsson (who, along with fellow judges Chris Santos, Marc Murphy and Alex Guarnaschelli, got to see what it felt like on the other side of the "Chopped" kitchen).

Who else was cheering for Alex? No offence to Marcus (or Chris and Marc), but I've always been a fan of Alex.

How Does Reality TV Impact A Chef's Professional Life?
Amidst the various food- and drink-heavy events at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, there were also opportunities for thoughtful discussions about the food industry. One of these events delved into the hot issue of reality TV, and how winning a food show can affect a chef's professional career and reputation. Moderated by Bobby Flay, the panel included chefs Richard Blais ("Top Chef All-Stars" winner), Marc Forgione ("Next Iron Chef" winner), Jonathan Waxman ("Top Chef Masters" participant), Stephanie Izard ("Top Chef" winner), Geoffrey Zakarian ("Next Iron Chef" winner) and Michael Symon ("Iron Chef").

Flay admitted that he had never moderated a panel before because he was always a panelist. He dove right into it though, and announced, "I don't want this to be a lovefest on what everyone's new projects are." Looks like he's fit for the job, as he sparked a lot of candid discussion.

On growing one's empire:...
