After the USA Network legal drama exploded on Netflix and racked up 57.7 billion minutes watched in 2023, creator Aaron Korsh is expanding the Suits universe with a second spinoff — this time, set on the West Coast. Suits LA, which premieres Sunday on NBC, will feature a new set of lawyers attempting to recapture the hallmarks of the original series: impossibly sharp intellect, edgy and witty dialogue and, yes, impeccably tailored suits and high fashion.

Given that the new spinoff offers very little carry-over in terms of characters, viewers could theoretically tune into the L.A.-based spinoff without having watched any of its predecessors. But they would be seriously depriving themselves of the addictive, cozy comforts of the original series. From Harvey Specter trying to fix a mistake from the past to one last con to save the firm, Suits had a lot of great series finales. TV shows – especially the ones with several episodes per season and that run for many years – are known for saving the best for last and ending each season with major twists and cliffhangers. It was no different for Suits, a show that often had two main storylines per season that somewhat converged toward the end.

Although everyone has their list of best Suits seasons, it is fair to say that each season had at least a couple of great moments. In fact, even the weakest seasons of the show would have a strong finale, which is why many of Suits’ best episodes are actually season finales. Between betrayals and weddings, Suits knew how to close a season, although some finales were better than others.

Olivia Flowers made her Southern Charm debut in Season 8, where she was Austen Kroll's love interest. However, by the following season, the couple were over, and a bombshell was thrown Olivia's way when she learned her best friend and co-star Taylor Ann Green had hooked up with Austen.

Season 9 followed the aftermath of Taylor and Austen's betrayal and Olivia's decision to no longer be friends with Taylor. Olivia did move on with castmate Rod Razavi, but that was short-lived.

Nielsen's streaming viewership numbers revealed that the legal drama was watched for 2.3 billion minutes during the aforementioned period, which marked the first full week of Suits being available on Netflix. More records have been broken since, though one season has been missing until now.

That will soon change, with Netflix confirming that Suits season 9 will arrive on their platform in the U.S. as of July 1st.

Hilary Heath, the British actress and producer who starred opposite Vincent Price in the American International Pictures horror films Witchfinder General, The Oblong Box and Cry of the Banshee, has died. She was 74.

Dwyer died March 30 of complications from Covid-19, her godson, Alex Williams, wrote on Facebook.

After retiring from acting, Heath produced Mike Newell's An Awfully Big Adventure (1995), starring Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman, and Nil by Mouth (1997), written and directed by Gary Oldman.

Fan-owned Legion M is launching its Film Scout mobile app at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, nine months after it bought the documentary “Memory: The Origins of Alien.”

The four-year-old company — which has more than 25,000 shareholders and 100,000 members — helped finance “Mandy,” starring Nicolas Cage; “Colossal,” starring Anne Hathaway; Dean Devlin’s “Bad Samaritan” and Kevin Smith’s “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.”

Pip Ngo is getting promoted from Director to Vice President of Sales & Acquisitions; Maxime Cottray goes from Director to Vice President of Financing & Production; and Scott Freije will move up to Vice President, International Sales & Distribution.

Additionally, Francesca Musumeci and Alex Williams are being promoted to Global Sales Coordinator and Content Coordinator, respectively.

“These executives have proven their worth and played key roles in the company,” said the Xyz partners. “The promotions are well earned and we look forward to working with them in their expanded roles.”

The company announced late last year that it had raised funding to provide approximately $100 million in production financing across a slate of 15 to 20 films. Venture capital firm Ipr.Vc, based in Helsinki, Finland, is co-financing the slate.
