Sean Penn, LeVar Burton And Wilmer Valderrama Among Guests At White House State Dinner

Updated: Sean Penn, LeVar Burton and Wilmer Valderrama are among the entertainment figures on the guest list for tonight’s state dinner at the White House for Kenya.

President Joe Biden welcomed Kenyan President William Ruto to the White House in an arrival ceremony earlier in the day.

Also on the list, per a pool report: Hunter Biden, Roger Goodell, Michaela Cole, Don McLean, Sheryl Sandberg, Barbara Kingsolver and Huma Abedin. Brad Paisley will perform.

Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also were there, having attended the last state dinner as well. Not on the list, but arriving to the event as well was former President Barack Obama.

Journalists on the guest list include NBC News’ Lester Holt, CNN’s Bianna Golodryga, MSNBC’s Symone Sanders-Townsend and The Grio’s April Ryan.

Other industry invitees include Paramount Global’s DeDe Lea, UTA Darnell Strom and Silver Eagle Acquisition Corp.

Uma Pemmaraju Dies: Original Fox News Anchor Was 64

Uma Pemmaraju, who was one of the original anchors when Fox News launched in 1996, has died, according to the network. She was 64.

A cause of death was not immediately released.

Suzanne Scott, the CEO of Fox News Media, said in a statement, “We are deeply saddened by the death of Uma Pemmaraju, who was one of Fox News Channel’s founding anchors and was on the air the day we launched. Uma was an incredibly talented journalist as well as a warm and lovely person, best known for her kindness to everyone she worked with. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her entire family.”

Pemmaraju was born in India and raised in San Antonio. She worked at stations in Dallas, Baltimore and Boston, and was named Boston’s Best Anchor by Boston Magazine 1996 and 1997. She relocated in 1996 to become an anchor on Fox News at its debut.

UK comedy-drama Wild Honey Pie has wrapped a four-week shoot in Wales.

The film marks writer-director Jamie Adams’ fifth feature, his previous credits include Black Mountain Poets, which played at Edinburgh and SXSW in 2016.

Wild Honey Pie stars Jemima Kirke (Girls) alongside Alice Lowe (Prevenge). Joanna Scanlan, Sarah Solemani, Brett Goldstein and Richard Elis round out the cast.

Screen can reveal a first look at the film [top] featuring Jemima Kirke’s lead character.

The project is produced by Adams’ Twenty Dollar Pictures, alongside David Wade and Maggie Monteith for Dignity Film Finance and Fivelanes Films, in partnership with Noel Clarke and Jason Maza through Unstoppable Entertainment.

Unstoppable previously produced director Adams’ Cobie Smulders-starring feature Songbird, which wrapped earlier this year and was picked up for world sales by Amp International.

Exclusive: Amanda Abbington and emerging talent Elliot James Langridge also star; Glee producer Michael Novick exec produces.

Principal photography has kicked off on We The Kings, the feature debut from director Lauren Mackenzie, which stars English stage and screen actor Timothy West (Eastenders, Iris).

Featuring alongside West are rising talent Elliot James Langridge, whose credits include Elaine Constantine’s Northern Soul, and Amanda Abbington of Mr Selfridge and Sherlock fame.

The film follows a young man (Langridge), a product of the foster system, who finds himself on the run from the police for an attempted murder. Fate lands him in hiding in the house of an old man he has never met (West), a seemingly helpless mute who hides a frightful past behind his frail façade.

The film is shooting on location in London and Kent and production will last for a total of four weeks.
