If there’s one thing every sporting event needs, it’s a strong playlist. And if you’re here, it means you’re looking for the one from “Running Point.”
Now streaming on Netflix, the series centers on Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson), who unexpectedly becomes president of the Los Angeles Waves basketball team, which her family has owned for decades. She’s the first female president in franchise history, and obviously, there’s a whole lot of pressure that comes with that.

Kate Hudson helms Running Point, the latest show from Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen as Isla Gordon, an underdog of sorts. She’s the only daughter of Jack Gordon, who had several other sons including Cam (Justin Theroux), Ness (Scott MacArthur) and their half brother Sandy (Drew Tarver).
Isla and her best friend Ali Lee (Brenda Song) are set to make waves (no pun intended) within the professional basketball franchise the Los Angeles Waves, when Isla gets promoted to president of the team. She has all sorts of upstream swimming to do in the role as her brothers doubt her capabilities and the players don’t exactly take her seriously, but she has many tricks up her sleeve, and she has been paying attention to the game since she was a little girl.
Several needle drops accompany big moments in the show, from Tupac’s “California Love” opening...
