Not Even Chick-fil-a Is Safe From Anti-‘Woke’ Right Wingers
Image
Fresh off a siege against Target for the crime of releasing a Pride collection, far-right influencers have been roving the digital countryside looking for the subject of their next meltdown and have landed on a surprising choice: fast food chain Chick-fil-a.

Why are conservative accounts attempting to gin up outrage about Chick-fil-a? Because the company has (gasp) a diversity, equity, and inclusion program. The fervor over the famously Christian chain has reached the point that lawmakers are now getting involved. RawStory pointed out that Rep. Dan Bishop (R-N.C.

Republicans Are Calling the Roe Leak an ‘Insurrection’
Image
Republicans — the party that decided it was pretty much fine that a violent mob stormed the Capitol to try to overturn Donald Trump’s 2020 election loss — are clutching all of their pearls over the leak of a Supreme Court draft opinion that overturns Roe v. Wade.

Indeed, in a delicious bit of projection, they’re claiming that the leak amounts to… wait for it… an “insurrection” against the judicial body.

Although the leaker’s identity is unknown — and although there is not yet one iota of evidence about the leaker...

Lauren Boebert Isn’t Letting Murdered Teenagers Get in the Way of Trolling Liberals Over Gun Control
Image
It’s been just over a week since four students were killed and seven people were injured after 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley allegedly opened fire at Oxford High School in Michigan. Sandy Hook quashed the idea that any particular school shooting has the power to inspire Congress to enact common-sense gun reform, but one would think Republicans could at least refrain from going out of their way to glorify guns in the immediate aftermath of these tragedies.

They’d be wrong.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) on Tuesday night posted a photo...

Fox News to Kacey Musgraves: Shut Up, Sing, and Don’t Say ‘F-ck’
Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt wants to know where all the “wholesome country singers” have gone. The talking head tightly clutched her pearls over Kacey Musgraves calling for an end to gun violence onstage at Lollapalooza last weekend by — be still my heart — using an emphatic swear word.

Same-Sex Kiss at Thanksgiving Parade Upsets Conservatives; ‘Love Is Love’ Says Alyssa Milano
Alyssa Milano
Alyssa Milano is pushing back against irritated conservatives complaining about the first-ever same-sex kiss at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday.

The actress and activist retweeted a post from For America — a group that describes itself as the “new champion of conservatism” on its website — saying millions of kids “had their innocence broken” after seeing two young actresses kiss during one of the parade’s musical numbers. Milano didn’t see it that way.

“My small children’s innocence was broken by active shooting drills in school,” Milano said atop her retweet. “Seeing two girls kissing just solidifies what they already innately know. Love is love.”

Fox News Host on Hillary Clinton’s Grammy Cameo: Why Not Read From Juanita Broaddrick’s Book?
Fox News host Todd Starnes was none too pleased by Hillary Clinton’s cameo appearance at the Grammys Sunday night reading a passage from Michael Wolff’s Trump White House exposé “Fire and Fury.” Starnes, who hosts his own daily three-hour show on Fox News radio, said he would have rather had the former presidential candidate read the new book by Juanita Broaddrick, who has accused Bill Clinton of rape during his 1978 campaign to be governor of Arkansas. (The former president’s lawyer has repeatedly denied the allegation; no charges have been filed.) “It’s too bad Hillary did not read a few passages...

John Ostrander: The Ultimate Illegal Alien
I’m indebted to Fox News anchor (and blogger) Todd Starnes. About two weeks ago – okay, I’m late to the party again – he posted a commentary entitled “Superman defends illegals against angry American.”

In his complaint, Starnes gripes about a scene in the most recent Action Comics where “Superman comes to the rescue of a group of illegal aliens – under attack from a white guy wearing an American flag bandana and waving around a machine gun… Instead of rounding up the illegals and flying them back to where they came from, the Man of Steel snatches the white guy and with a menacing look snarls, ‘The only person responsible for the blackness smothering your soul – is you.’”

This upset Mr. Starnes no end and has provided me with grist for this week’s column.

I could start by pointing out that the incident is fiction (or fake news) and...

Memphis Theater Cancels Annual Screening of Gone With the Wind for Being 'Racially Insensitive'
Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh in Autant en emporte le vent (1939)
Gone With the Wind is now gone from a Memphis, Tennessee, movie theater where it was annually screened for the past 34 years — and fans have mixed feelings about it.

The 1939 film adaptation of Margaret Mitchell’s novel of the same name — which tells the story of plantation Southern belle Scarlett O’Hara (Vivien Leigh)’s love affair with Confederate soldier Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) during the Civil War and Reconstruction periods — has been pulled from The Orpheum Theatre’s 2018 summer movie series.

Though it had been a part of The Orpheum’s annual summer movie series for years, complaints from an Aug.

The pastor for Christian “Fixer Upper” hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines has responded to a recent Buzzfeed article accusing his church and possibly the Hgtv personalities that attend it of being anti-gay. “Absolutely not,” Pastor Jimmy Seibert told Fox News’ Todd Starnes when asked point-blank if his church is against same-sex marriage. “We are not only not anti-gay, we are just pro-helping people in their journey to find out who God is and who He has made them to be.” “For us — our heart has always been to love Jesus, preach the word of God and help people in their.

Fox & Friends Investigates Plot To Keep Right-Wing Radio Host Todd Starnes’ Thoughts Off Facebook
On Monday, Fox News Radio host Todd Starnes joined the hosts of Fox & Friends to discuss a recent politically incorrect post on his Facebook page that was removed due to supposed terms of use violations. The hosts noted that this is not the first time Facebook has gone after conservatives. Fox News Channel host Eric Bolling wondered if Facebook has an employee whose job was to review Starnes’ posts and remove any that could be interpreted as violating the terms of use.

O’Reilly Blasts Columbia’s Hiring Of Weather Underground ‘Radical’ And Left’s ‘Stranglehold’ On Academia
On Thursday’s The O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly and guests discussed the hiring of radical Leftists by universities and the recent crop of stories concerning liberal professors’ controversial classroom acts. Joining him to discuss were were Bob Zelnick, journalism professor at Boston University, and Fox News radio host Todd Starnes. Hide Your Bibles, Hide Your Kids, Because Muslims Are Coming! Or So Suggests Fox News’ Todd Starnes
Fox News radio host Todd Starnes visited Fox & Friends this morning to remind everyone that his Sharia law alert level is still at full-blown code red, and you should probably clutch your pearls as hard as possible. Starnes is a frequent guest on Bryan Fischer's Afa radio show, which should give you at least a little clue of where the Fox reporter comes from on issues of religion, homosexuality, science, etc. With blaring sirens literally signaling his appearance this morning, Starnes said:...

Matt Stone and Trey Parker in South Park (1997)
Comedy Central Classic Targeted By Christian Conservative At Values Voter Summit
Matt Stone and Trey Parker in South Park (1997)
Where is the federal investigation into "South Park?" That was the question posed this weekend during the Values Voter Summit's panel on “Religious Hostility in America” held in Washington, D.C.

Panelist and Fox News radio commentator Todd Starnes called on the White House to put a stop to Hollywood's constant humiliating of Christians, both in movies and in television shows like the Comedy Central classic which he accused of "denigrating all faiths."

Starnes made the comments as discussion at the Summit turned to the "Innocence of Muslims," the ameteurish short film that is the alleged catalyst behind a slew of deadly protests against American installations in the Middle East. "The big headline this morning is 'federal authorities investigate Christian filmmaker because of this film," Starnes told attendees, according to a video posted on RightWingWatch.org.

"We have the seen the administration come out and say, 'we condemn anyone who denigrates religious faith,...
