‘The Pitt’s’ Medical Consultant on Coaching Actors Through Jargon and What Medical Emergencies the Show Gets Right
Image
Max’s “The Pitt” is considered to be medically accurate, and that’s thanks to the creative team.

Dr. Lizzie Ferreira is a real-life emergency medicine physician and is one of the medical consultants on the show. “It starts with John Wells, Noah Wyle, Scott Gemmill. They created and cultivated a culture where it was absolutely imperative to get it right and to show it as accurate and as authentic and as messy as possible,” she says.

Speaking with Variety‘s Artisans, presented by HBO, Ferreira explained that while the scenes begin in the writers’ room, those eventually trickle down to the medical consultants whose job it is to bring that authenticity. “When we were working through a scene with both the director and the cinematographer verbalizing what we’re anticipating the actresses or actors to do in that moment on what cued line, allows the Dp to plan her...

The Pitt's Taylor Dearden Teases Mel's Reaction To Having Langdon Back In Season 2: "She'll Be Really Excited To See Him"
Image
This article discusses drug misuse.

Taylor Dearden, who plays Dr. Mel King on The Pitt, recently hinted at how her character will react to the return of Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball) in the second season of HBO's medical drama. At the end of The Pitt season 1, Dr. Langdon was forced to leave Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center and begin a rehab program after Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) discovered he had been stealing pain medication from the hospital. When The Pitt season 2 was confirmed, however, the creators of the show also confirmed that the series would follow Langdon's first days back after seeking help.

While speaking with Collider, Taylor Dearden commented on how Mel, who had a very close relationship with Langdon, would handle his return in the coming season.

"I would like to see or guess that she'll be really excited to see him and to have him back around. I...

'The Pitt’s Taylor Dearden Hopes for a "Good Mel/Langdon” Dynamic in Season 2 [Exclusive]
Image
The Pitt Season 2 is currently in production ahead of its expected January 2026 release date, and one of the show’s brightest stars just shared an update on where we’ll find her character in Season 2. While The Pitt’s biggest headline was certainly ER veteran Noah Wyle returning to the world of medical dramas to play Dr. Robby, it’s the rest of the cast that made The Pitt such a success. One of those stars is Taylor Dearden, who portrays the exceptionally talented Dr. Melissa King, or Mel as she’s known in Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. Collider’s Aidan Kelley caught up with Dearden at the Newport Beach TV Festival, and he asked where we’ll pick up with Mel and Dr. Landgon (Patrick Ball) at the start of Season 2:

"I would like to see or guess that she'll be really excited to see him and to have him back around.

"That's the Whole Idea": ‘The Pitt’ Producer Reveals If the Show Will Leave the Hospital in Season 2
Image
The first season of Max's first original medical drama, The Pitt, turned out to be an incredibly successful one, and it's fair to say that audiences can't wait to return to the ER for yet another season. Max will deliver on a second season early next year and the staff of Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center will return with ER veteran Noah Wyle at the helm as Dr. Robby. Much of the medical drama's first season saw the action play out within the confines of the hospital as the show takes place in real time. Each episode covers an hour of the one shift shown across the season with very few sightings of the hospital staff outside the hospital. So, will that change in Season 2? Will audiences get to follow staff home in the sophomore season?

Some members of staff had to depart the hospital at various points during the first season.

Will ‘The Pitt’ Leave the Hospital in Season 2?
Image
Due to the format of The Pitt, we only very briefly saw any of the hospital staff outside of the hospital during its first season. The hit HBO Max medical drama takes place in real time, with each episode covering an hour of the one shift shown across the season. The finale did see Robby (Noah Wyle), Abbot (Shawn Hatosy), Mohan (Supriya Ganesh), Javadi (Shabana Azeez), and other members of the staff gather in the park across the street from the hospital for a post-shift beer. It also followed King (Taylor Dearden) as she picked up her sister. But executive producers R. Scott Gemmill and John Wells don’t see the show ever going home with the characters or leaving the hospital in a significant way. “I don’t think we’ll ever go home with our characters,” Gemmill told TV Insider during Season 1. “I think what makes this show...

"The show is just a beautiful show and he does a great job with it," Clooney added. Clooney, who serves as executive producer and stars as Doctor Michael "Robby" Robinavitch on the hit series, previously worked with Wyle on ER. "There’s Going To Be Lots of Surprises to Come": 'The Pitt' Star Teases Season 2
Image
Season 2 of Max's hit medical dramaThe Pitt will be with us in 2026. The sophomore season is gearing up for production and will bring back a face that viewers missed in the later episodes of Season 1. Tracy Ifeachor played Dr. Heather Collins in the 15-episode season, but as something unfortunate unfolded in her life, Dr. Collins had to leave before the shift ended. However, the show established in the eleven episodes she was present that she and Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) had a romantic past and might still be attracted to each other. Ifeachor talked to Us Weekly about the much-anticipated season, saying that "there is going to be an amazing cast in Season 2 – just as there was in Season 1." The actress teased "lots of surprises to come," especially regarding Robby and Collins' relationship.

“I’m not a [plot] ruiner," Ifeachor said when egged on for more information. "I’m not even...

Emmy odds check-up: ‘The Pitt’ prognosis is positive as it creeps up on ‘Severance’
Image
Exactly three months ago, The Pitt was in 10th place for Best Drama Series; its vital signs have been steadily improving ever since.

By March, the Max medical procedural had jumped up to sixth place in Gold Derby's odds, and by April it was in the top four. Now, as word of mouth continues to grow, The Pitt has achieved its highest placement yet at No. 2, behind only the long-standing predictions leader, Severance.

The Pitt stars Emmy frontrunner Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, a senior attending physician who works a 15-hour shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. Each episode unfolds hourly in real time. Robby's fellow staff members include Taylor Dearden's Melissa "Mel" King, Katherine Lanasa's Dana Evans, Patrick Ball's Frank Langdon, and Shawn Hatosy's Dr. Jack Abbott.

While The Pitt gives viewers a nostalgic throwback feel to traditional broadcast dramas, Severance is celebrated...

‘The Last of Us’ Emmy odds shake-up: With Kaitlyn Dever going guest, Isabela Merced jumps up in supporting
Image
Last week, HBO announced that The Last of Us scene-stealer Kaitlyn Dever would be campaigning as a guest star, as opposed to a supporting actress, for the zombie apocalypse drama. That left an opening in Gold Derby's Best Drama Supporting Actress Emmy odds that has since been filled by ... drumroll, please ... her costar Isabela Merced.

Dever plays Abby, a soldier who seeks revenge against Joel (Pedro Pascal) in Season 2 for the death of her father in Season 1. Since Dever has only appeared in two episodes (so far), she's eligible to compete as a guest star for The Last of Us because of the TV Academy's "less than 50 percent" ruling. The 28-year-old will also be on the Emmy ballot for Apple Cider Vinegar in Best Limited Series/Movie Actress.

Merced is another newcomer to The Last of Us this year, playing the free-spirited Dina, the romantic interest of Ellie (Bella Ramsey...

Everyone's New Favorite Medical Drama Did So Well on Streaming It's Now Headed to Broadcast on TNT
Image
The Pitt, Max’s high-octane, real-time medical drama that took streaming by storm earlier this year, is making a fast and furious leap to linear TV. Warner Bros. Discovery officially announced during its 2025 upfront presentation that the show will air on TNT this fall — giving audiences who missed its initial streaming run a second chance to experience the series ahead of Season 2. But it's not just a case of recycling a greatest hit for the people at the top, as according to Warner Bros. Television Group and U.S. Networks CEO Channing Dungey, this is part of a bigger plan to “eventize” content from Max across the company’s linear platforms, treating shows like The Pitt as the must-see television they are.

“When we put Max programming on the T-nets, we want to make sure that we’re telling the audience, ‘This is something special, you want to tune in for this.

‘The Pitt’ Will Make Its Linear Premiere on TNT This Fall
Image
As expected, a second run of Max’s (soon to once again be “HBO Max’s”) smash freshman medical series “The Pitt” will make its way to TNT this fall, exposing the drama to linear viewers who perhaps haven’t caught it quite yet on streaming.

The TNT run of “The Pitt” is meant to serve as a bit of a snack for viewers in preparation for Season 2 of the series. Channing Dungey, chairman and CEO of the Warner Bros. Television Group and US Networks, announced the news on Wednesday during her portion of the Warner Bros. Discovery 2025 upfronts — along with the rest of her early plans for the networks, which she added to her oversight in January.

Dungey and her team aren’t yet ready to share how they plan to roll out the 15 episodes of “The Pitt” on TV, but she does say she wants to make sure...

Breaking: ‘The Pitt’ star Noah Wyle takes the lead in latest Emmy odds for Best Actor
Image
The Emmy race for Best Drama Actor just received a shot of adrenaline.

For the first time since Gold Derby's 2025 Emmys predictions center opened in February, Noah Wyle is leading the odds in this topsy-turvy category. The Pitt star has overtaken Adam Scott (Severance), who has been in the No. 1 position since early March. Before that, Gary Oldman (Slow Horses) was the frontrunner.

Max's real-time hospital drama has been on a major upswing since its final episodes streamed in April. In one buzzed-about moment, Wyle's character, Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, had a mental breakdown after a concert shooting brought dozens of patients into his emergency room, including his quasi-stepson's new girlfriend. Wyle is a five-time Emmy nominee for ER (1995-99), but this would be his first win.

For Best Drama Series, The Pitt is now tied with The Last of Us in second place, both behind Severance. Taylor Dearden as...

‘The Pitt’ star Shawn Hatosy loves ‘ER cowboy’ Dr. Abbot as much as you do
Image
Shawn Hatosy has been a mainstay in the John Wells Cinematic Universe for 19 years. He guest-starred in an episode of ER in 2006, playing a patient with dissociative identity disorder, before the prolific producer recruited him for Southland, Animal Kingdom, Rescue: Hi-Surf, and now The Pitt. The actor calls it a "full circle moment," as he started as a guest star on a Wells medical drama starring Noah Wyle and is now — billing-wise — a special guest star on another Wells medical drama starring Wyle.

But there's nothing impermanent about the impact Hatosy's Dr. Jack Abbot has had in just five of 15 episodes in Season 1. After appearing in the pilot, in which Dr. Robby (Wyle) finds the former combat medic dejected on the roof following a tough night shift, Abbot doesn't come back until the 12th episode to help with the mass casualty. And he instantly became a fan favorite. "It's been overwhelming and so incredibly positive,...

Allison Janney enters Emmy race as a supporting actress for ‘The Diplomat’ (exclusive)
Image
An Emmy favorite has made a category decision that could have a huge impact on this year's awards. Gold Derby has exclusively learned that Allison Janney will submit as Best Drama Supporting Actress for the second season of The Diplomat. She is already a seven-time winner in acting categories at the Primetime Emmys, so an eighth win would tie her for the record with TV Hall of Fame inductees Cloris Leachman and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Janney joined the Netflix series for its second season, which began streaming on Oct. 31. She only appeared in two episodes as U.S. Vice President Grace Penn, giving her the option to submit either as a guest actress or supporting actress.

Her role in The Diplomat previously earned nominations for supporting actress at the 2025 Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards. She was also nominated at the SAG Awards against costar Keri Russell despite the Screen Actors Guild...

‘The Last of Us’ stars Pedro Pascal, Isabela Merced are rising in the latest Emmy odds

Two of the stars of The Last of Us are on the rise this week in Gold Derby's Emmy predictions.

Pedro Pascal, whose beloved character Joel had a brutal run-in with a golf club in the second episode of Season 2, has jumped from fourth place to third place in Best Drama Actor. Meanwhile, series newcomer Isabela Merced, who plays the free-spirited zombie apocalypse survivor Dina, has ascended from ninth place to eighth place in Best Drama Supporting Actress. This would be Pascal's fourth career Emmy bid after receiving three in 2023 for The Last of Us, Saturday Night Live, and Patagonia; Merced is seeking her first nomination.

Series lead Bella Ramsey is still in second place in Best Drama Actress, behind only Kathy Bates (Matlock), who has claimed the No. 1 position since we began tracking the 2025 Emmys. Ramsey's defiant character Ellie must now learn how to survive without her father figure in her life.

From The White Lotus to The Pitt, Nepo Babies Are Proving Their Worth
Image
Once upon a time, the phrase “nepo baby” was seen as derogatory.

Coined by combining the words “nepotism” and “baby,” it means the subject is a child of influential people in an industry and has (allegedly) benefited from these connections.

Nepo babies who wanted to go into the same field as their parents would go to great lengths to hide their privilege. Some would even change their names to avoid outing themselves.

(Fabio Lovino/HBO)

The name is still not a term of endearment to some extent, but a current crop of nepo babies is challenging this stigma.

The actors in this list have proven that being the child of a talented performer should not be used as a metric to discount someone, and everyone should be judged by their work.

This list focuses on their work on television, but some have ventured beyond the medium and are killing it in music and film.

“We’ve Removed the Artifice”: Noah Wyle Addresses the Absence of Music in ‘The Pitt’
Image
Noah Wyle, leading star of Max’s first original medical drama, The Pitt, has finally peeled back the curtain on one of the show’s more unique choices. The Pitt has been praised by both critics and fans are being a distinctly authentic medical drama that pays homage to healthcare workers by telling stories more versed in realism and less in dramatized romances. One thing that fans have noticed is that music is eerily absent from the series, as there’s no original soundtrack playing over the events at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. Wyle recently sat down for an interview with NPR’s Fresh Air, and he spoke about what led the team to decide on this, citing that it removes the artificial element while bringing the audience closer to the characters:

"One of the decisions we made early on was to not employ any soundtrack in the show. By lifting the music out,...

‘The Pitt’ Star Says the Cast Will Have Less Time to Prepare for Season 2
Image
Season 2 of Max’s first original medical drama just got an exciting update. Starring in the lead role of Dr. Michael Robinavitch in The Pitt is Noah Wyle, the ER veteran who has put on the scrubs for the first time since ER concluded its final season in 2009. Wyle’s latest task as Dr. Robby sees him acting as the attending physician at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, with other doctors like Mel King (Taylor Dearden) working underneath him. The Pitt cast were given two weeks of rigorous boot camp to prepare for Season 1, but things are going to be different for Season 2. During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, The Pitt star Taylor Dearden confirmed that the boot camp for Season 2 will be even shorter than Season 1:

"For season one, it was two weeks, and it was going over everything standard when a trauma comes in: “Here are the things that happen.

‘The Pitt’ Season 2: Noah Wyle Is The Savior TV Needed After ‘Severance’ And ‘Stranger Things’ Ruined It Badly
Image
It’s been a tough couple of years for fans of the sci-fi genre. Stranger Things is taking forever to come back with Season 5, and Severance Season 2 was back on the screens after a gap of three years. The gaps between seasons are way too long, so sometimes it becomes hard to even follow up with what happened in the last season.

It’s like, how long are we supposed to wait before we just…move on? That’s exactly why The Pitt Season 2 feels like such a big win. And with its upcoming season 2, the show featuring Noah Wyle is avoiding one major streaming issue.

The Pitt is here to save us from streaming’s never-ending delays

I’ll be honest – when Severance Season 2 finally dropped in January 2025, I had to really dig into my memory to recall what even happened in Season 1. It has been nearly three years,...

“It’s an homage”: Noah Wyle Quietly Sneaked in a Tribute in One of the Best Episodes of ‘The Pitt’
Image
It’s been a long shift at The Pitt, and while fans are still processing their emotions over the series finale, there is indeed so much to unpack from the first season. Each episode was infused with emotionally charged drama and nerve-wracking medical situations, all happening at once, but one episode written by Noah Wyle himself clearly stood out.

One of the most heartbreaking scenarios we can find inside a hospital is the agonizing wait for the death of a loved one. You want to save them, but you can’t, and there’s no other way to deal with it than to face it and accept that it’s really their end.

The Pitt Episode 4 was inspired by a true event in Noah Wyle’s life

In the fourth episode of The Pitt titled 10:00 A.M., Noah Wyle’s Dr. Michael ‘Robby’ Robinavitch monitored Mr. Spencer during his...

Noah Wyle, You Sick Genius: ‘The Pitt’ Episode Had No Business Being This Sad Featuring Taylor Dearden At Her Best
Image
I thought I was signing up for another cleverly written, emotionally charged episode of The Pitt. But what I got instead was a gut punch wrapped in brilliant storytelling. While heartbreaking plots are something that kind of go hand in hand with a medical drama, episode 8, titled 2:00 P.M. of the show had no business being so devastating.

Though I’m still reeling, there’s no denying that Noah Wyle is an absolute genius when it comes to his acting chops. His versatility is known to many, but in this episode, he’s perfectly detailed why he’s leading The Pitt in the first place.

Also, who can forget Dr. Mel, played by the ever-talented Taylor Dearden, who added her emotional element to the show. Let’s dive deeper to understand what unfolded in the episode and why it’s so heartbreaking.

All the ‘Nepo Babies’ on ‘The Pitt’ and Their Famous Parents
Image
The talented cast of “The Pitt” includes a number of actors whose parents are also in the business. While Taylor Dearden and Fiona Dourif might, technically be considered “nepo babies,” they have more than proven themselves to be as hardworking as their emergency room characters in the hit drama on HBO’s Max.

Here is who’s related to who and where else you might have seen them before this. Some, like Dourif and Isa Briones, who plays Trinity Santos, have even acted alongside their famous family members.

Taylor Dearden

The 32-year-old actress, who plays resident Mel King on the series, is the daughter of “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston and actress Robin Dearden, whose TV credits include appearances on “Murder, She Wrote,” and the soap opera “Generations.” She previously starred on Netflix’s “American Vandal,” MTV’s “Sweet/Vicious” and Apple’s “For All Mankind.”

“It’s a testament to the writing and her performance”: Bryan Cranston’s Daughter Just Proved She Has His Acting Genes In ‘The Pitt’ That You Missed
Image
Talent tends to run in the family, and Hollywood is no stranger to famous parents passing down their acting genes to the next generation. From the Smiths to the Barrymores, children of iconic actors have often stepped into the limelight and have done full justice to their parents’ legacy. The same is true for Bryan Cranston’s daughter, Taylor Dearden.

While her father became a household name when he played the antagonist Walter White in Breaking Bad, Dearden is carving her path with her impressive performance in the medical drama The Pitt. Though it might have flown under the radar for some, her performance deserves attention.

"Let's Take Away All This Guy's Support System": Noah Wyle Explains Why Dr. Collins Isn't in 'The Pitt' Finale
Image
Editor's note: This article contains spoilers for Season 1 of 'The Pitt'Max's The Pitthas become one of the most lauded television shows in recent memory for its real, graphic depiction of an emergency room shift. However, as Season 1 came to a conclusion, one of the show's senior attending physicians, Dr. Heather Collins (Tracy Ifeachor), was absent. While this absence is partially explained in the show, the star of The Pitt, Noah Wyle, has shed some more light on why Collins didn't make an apperance.

It is established that Collins goes home in Episode 11 after a miscarriage, as ER head Dr. Robby (Wyle) tells her to rest and not answer her phone. This provides a reason as to why she is not present in subsequent episodes when the ER has to deal with a mass shooting. However, there is more to it than that, according to Wyle. "The thinking was, 'Let's take...

“Very Full Circle”: Former ER-Nurse Reveals How He Landed a Role on ‘The Pitt’
Image
The Pitt is the new hot show on television but it also has a lot of faces you might recognize. Whether you're excited aboutNoah Wylebeing back in the ER or you know that Taylor Dearden has some pretty famous parentage, the show is stacked with new faces and ones we love. One of those faces is Ned Brower. But you might not remember where you know him from. Were you a big fan of the band Rooney after The Princess Diaries? Then you might remember Brower. Since, he went on to be an ER nurse and the rest is The Pitt history.

In an interview with People, Brower talked about going from being a drummer in Rooney to a real life ER nurse to starring as a punk rock ER nurse in the hit Max series. "When my band got signed, I pretty much just jettisoned my acting career, which was going well,...

The Pitt: Noah Wyle Explains Why Dr. Collins Was Absent For So Long
Image
Do not keep reading if you haven't watched all of season 1 of "The Pitt" — spoilers for the entire season lie ahead.

Season 1 of "The Pitt" has come to an excellent and satisfying conclusion, but there is one thing some fans might be wondering about: what happened to Tracy Ifeachor's senior ER resident Dr. Heather Collins? In the season's 11th episode, "5:00 P.M." -- the show, like "24," is told using a "real-time" conceit in which each episode is one hour of an emergency room shift -- Collins faces a massive personal loss and is comforted by Noah Wyle's lead character Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch before he tells her she should go home, turn her phone off, and get some rest. Ifeachor's Collins does not appear for the rest of the season ... so what happened?

Wyle appeared on The Ringer's pop culture podcast "The Watch" with Chris Ryan...

The Pitt Season 2's Returning Characters Teased By Showrunner
Image
This article contains a discussion of addiction.

Don't clock into your night shift if you haven't watched the season 1 finale of "The Pitt," titled "9:00 P.M." Spoilers incoming!

The first season of the Max original "The Pitt" — which is not a spin-off of "ER" despite the involvement of star Noah Wyle, creator R. Scott Gemmill, and executive producer John Wells, all of whom worked on the landmark NBC drama — came to an end on April 10, 2025. At that point, the day shift employees trudged home after a grueling 15 hours working in a Pittsburgh emergency room. So, which of those employees will return for the already confirmed "The Pitt" season 2, which will take place 10 months after season 1's real-time "shift" (specifically on the Fourth of July weekend)?

We know, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that Wyle — who stars as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, helped create the series with Gemmill and Wells,...

The Pitt Season 2 Will Feature New Doctors, Time Jump, and Langdon’s Return
Noah Wyle in The Pitt (2025)
Season 2 of The Pitt is set to premiere in January 2026, and series creator R. Scott Gemmill has shared new details about what viewers can expect as the HBO medical drama returns for its next hour-by-hour shift.

The story will resume roughly 10 months after the events of season one, with the new episode unfolding over the Fourth of July holiday—an annual peak for emergency room activity. Gemmill confirmed the time jump was partly driven by character arcs, particularly the recovery of Dr. Frank Langdon, played by Patrick Ball.

Langdon’s return to the hospital after completing an inpatient rehabilitation program provides a starting point for the new installment. “We will pick up on Langdon’s first day back at work,” Gemmill said. “Nine, basically 10 months later, gives a lot of room for us to have developed a few stories in the interim and catch up with everyone.”

The Pitt Season 2: All We Know So Far!
Noah Wyle
Reading Time: 3 minutes

The Pitt just completed one of the more impressive opening seasons of any television show in recent memory.

It was dramatic. It was gripping. It was poignant and at times funny and it at least should catapult Noah Wyle to the head of the Best Actor Emmy Award race.

Seriously. Go watch all 15 episodes if you have not already.

(Max)

In the wake of such success, Max hasn’t simply renewed the medical drama for a second season — it has already revealed a few The Pitt spoilers for what fans can expect from upcoming episodes.

For one thing? They will premiere in January.

The streaming service seems well aware of the gigantic hit it has on its hands and has said it plans on airing new episodes every single year for as long as The Pitt has the green light to air them.

No lengthy, interminable hiatuses for this fantastic show.

Warner Bros. TV Boss Reveals if The Pitt Season 2 Will Have More Episodes
Image
Warner Bros. TV boss Channing Dungey gives fans hope for an even bigger second season of The Pitt.

Speaking to Deadline, Dungey was asked if the hotly-anticipated second season of Max's breakout medical drama would stick to the 15-episode format, to which he replied, "There was a conversation about doing a little bit more. I think right now, we’re still looking at 15 as the model. If it ends up going up from there, it would probably only be by a couple of episodes, certainly not all the way to 22."

"What’s wonderful is, this is a perfect collaboration. John Wells, who is a master showrunner, but also someone who knows how to tell premium broadcast television stories," Dungey added. "He brought those skills to play here with R. Scott Gemmill and with Noah Wyle. And it is truly gratifying, because it’s not that often that you have a...

‘The Pitt’ at the Emmys: The categories the breakout hit could crack
Image
Will Emmy voters fall into The Pitt? Viewers certainly have, turning it into the breakout hit of the year through word-of-mouth that built through the show's weekly release of 15 episodes. The Noah Wyle-led medical drama is now in the top three of Max's most-watched series ever. Season 1 concluded on Thursday, with Season 2 slated to debut in January 2026, but will the series taste Emmy success between then?

Let's break down The Pitt's Emmy prospects.

Best Drama Series

Commensurate with its increasing buzz, The Pitt has surged up the Best Drama Series odds in the past month, currently sitting in fourth place behind the big three of Severance, The Last of Us, and The White Lotus. Some might be hesitant to predict a network-style procedural to get in, but The Pitt is not your average procedural. It takes the classic medical drama genre, adds a real-time twist, and has shown...

The Pitt season 1 finale recap and what the ending means for season 2
Image
This post contains spoilers from The Pitt season 1 finale from this point forward.

Here we are at the end of Max’s breakout drama The Pitt. Fear not because this medical team and its all-star players are not going anywhere just yet. In just one season, Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) has already become the next heartthrob healer and the cast behind him are stellar in every aspect of the word.

As new shows come into the threshold, it can take a while for an audience to warm up to certain characters, but The Pitt wastes no time in capturing your heart for the main characters of the story. It's a fast paced environment with little room for error or emotion. However, there are moments where emotions flood over these doctors no matter how hard they try to escape them. These instances of human reaction and sentimental expression seperate the series...

The Pitt (2025) TV Series Review: One of the Best Television Series of This Year with all of its Medical Procedural Glory
John Wells
The bemoaning of television fans as streaming has dominated, studios have cut through and added more budget and decreased episodes. The feeling of good long-form television is slowly missing. Notwithstanding the qualities of soap operas or even great network television, one of the reasons shows having 22-odd episodes were so popular and relevant for as long as TV had existed was because they had allowed the viewers to slowly descend into forging connections with the characters within the small screen. Thus, if a show is successful due to the demand of the audiences, it has an incentive to return. Because the budget is controllable, the time taken between seasons is significant enough that the show manages to stay within the zeitgeist of its fans.

Cut to 2025, where prestige television is slowly losing its sheen due to its longer wait period between seasons, the qualitative disparity is resulting in fewer shows...
