$428M Video Game Movie Starring Jack Quaid Surges On Netflix's Global Charts
Image
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's 2018 sci-fi movie climbs Netflix's streaming charts seven years after its release. The box-office heavy hitter has starred in numerous commercially successful films. From Furious 7, which earned over $1.46 billion in 2015, to Moana 2 in 2024, which also crossed the $1 billion milestone, movies that feature The Rock can be wildly profitable, though some can also flop at the box office.

Aside from Moana 2, the actor had a Christmas-themed movie out last year. Red One saw The Rock starring opposite Chris Evans and J.K. Simmons as the head of North Pole security, Callum Drift, who teams up with Evans' hacker to find Simmons' kidnapped Santa on Christmas Eve. While the movie didn't earn enough to make up for the budget, it achieved significant streaming success when it debuted on Prime Video.

The actor currently has 13 projects in the pipeline and will next be seen as Mmc...

Despite 86% Rt Score, Hulu Made a Big Mistake by Cancelling Zoë Kravitz’s Comedy, That’s Now a Cult Classic
Image
Did Hulu make a big mistake by cancelling Zoë Kravitz-starrer High Fidelity? Maybe. The television landscape is a vast horizon where shows need to keep up the pace, including acting, script, influence, critical reception, and whatnot. But, despite topping the charts with an 86% Rt rating, Hulu needed to walk past a comedy show, which has now become a cult-classic. Why?

On one hand, the reasons can be many, but on the other, despair of not living up to the streamer’s expectations or vice versa, The Batman star, Zoë Kravitz, spoke about this in an interview (via Esquire). The actress called out the streaming platform, saying,

“It’s cool. At least Hulu has a ton of other shows starring women of colour we can watch. Oh wait.”

This promptly shows the actresses’ disapproval of Hulu, though the show had much scope to do better and continue streaming. But what...

A Modern Scream Queen Stars In Streaming Thriller That “Subverts expectations early and often”
Image
The term ‘scream queen’ began as what some consider a reductive label, yet the descriptor has slowly become more empowering to many. No longer are women in genre cinema seen as damsels in distress who need a man to save them. Not by a long shot. In fact, some ladies who appear in horror fare with a certain regularity now seem to wear the scream queen label like a badge of honor.

Maika Monroe is one such actor who seems to have embraced her standing as an important player in the horror space. She appears in genre projects on the regular, and from what I can tell, she’s not trying to break out to “bigger and better things.” Monroe sees the freedom that the horror genre provides and uses that to tackle interesting roles that allow her to become someone completely different with each cinematic outing.

I was particularly...

‘The White Lotus’ Racks Up 23 Emmy Noms, With First-Time Nominees Scott Glenn, Jason Isaacs & Aimee Lou Wood
Image
While The White Lotus didn’t sweep the Supporting Actor/Actresses in a Drama Series category, as was at times predicted, the HBO powerhouse did match its Season 2 Emmy nomination tally with 23 this year, bringing its to-date total to 66 with 15 overall wins — with more potentially in store at the ceremony to be held Sept. 14.

Once again nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, performers Jason Isaacs, Scott Glenn and Aimee Lou Wood scored their first-ever Emmy nominations this year.

For Supporting Actress in a Drama, Carrie Coon, Parker Posey and Natasha Rothwell were also honored, with the latter seeing a repeat nomination for her role as Belinda, which she originated back in Season 1. They, along with Wood, face one performer each from Paradise, The Pitt and Severance (Patricia Arquette).

In the Supporting Actor category, the noms...

The 25 Best Drama Schools of 2025
Image
While drama schools have largely emerged from the shadow of Covid-19, many are now in the midst of figuring out how to respond to different audience behaviors post-pandemic, funding changes and the evolving needs of an arts education. Amid this changing environment, institutions have been updating their curricula to better prepare their students and put a greater emphasis on on-camera training and on actors creating their own work. And as several programs maintain (or try to grow) tuition-free models, the rising cost of education continues to be a significant factor for students pursuing a career in performing arts.

THR spoke with industry members and educators to determine its ranking of the best schools for an acting degree while weighing factors including overall training, cost, alumni success and industry connections. When applicable, tuition is listed on an annualized basis for the upcoming year and does not include housing and other fees.

10 Worst Episodes Of The Office, Ranked
Image
There's no debating that "The Office" should be remembered as one of the most influential TV comedies of all time. Just as its British predecessor had done for its local sitcoms, the US adaptation (which first premiered in 2006) defined what American network sitcoms would look, feel, and sound like for the next decade and change.

The influence of "The Office" can be felt on future hit shows like "Superstore," "Parks and Recreation," and even "Abbott Elementary," while the cast and crew whose careers it kickstarted have since produced the likes of "The Mindy Project," the "A Quiet Place" franchise, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "The Good Place," and more. Suffice it to say, entertainment at large would look a lot different if "The Office" had never come to the states -- though that doesn't mean the show lasted so long without considerable hiccups.

If you ask Pam Beesly herself, Jenna Fischer, fans are...

12 Actors We Want To See In The White Lotus
Image
One of the great joys in watching HBO's "The White Lotus" is witnessing its immaculate ensemble cast each season. From breakout talents to generational stars, showrunner Mike White and casting director Meredith Tucker always assemble an exciting, diverse team of actors and actresses to match wits and even trade spars, making for an exciting prestige TV experience. Some of them play into their effortlessly executed character types, while others surprise us with new dimensions to their traditional personas.

At the time of this writing, audiences have already spent three suspenseful stays at The White Lotus, and a fourth is already on schedule. This anthology series -- though some wonder if it can still be called an anthology -- will need a new cast soon enough, so the question remains: Who should we see next? There's unlimited possibilities for strong casting, not only in fan-favorite character actors but also in the...

Sarah Paulson Reveals Cate Blanchett-Starring Gem Was Unlike Anything She’d Ever Experienced
Image
Sarah Paulson’s Tammy in Ocean’s 8 was one of the most memorable characters in a film whose cast was entirely led by women. As the women-led heist-comedy was released in 2018, there were very few movie lovers who did not love the premise.

Though Ocean’s 8 fell a little short of creating the same onscreen magic as its mighty predecessors, the film was remarkable nonetheless. Even more astounding was the film’s stellar cast, which was, in the literal sense, a galaxy of stars.

Led by Sabdra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, among others, the film also starred Rihanna and Sarah Paulson in remarkable roles. While the audience was left in shock by the cast, the film’s stars were also equally astonished, as revealed by Paulson’s candid confession.

Sarah Paulson shared that filming Ocean’s 8 was fun for a unique reason

The White Lotus Season 1 Originally Had A Completely Different Location
Image
The following article contains spoilers for "The White Lotus" season 1.

Few television series released this decade have left as much of an impact as HBO's semi-anthology series, "The White Lotus." Created by Mike White, what began as a miniseries exploring the problematic lives of wealthy vacationers and the working-class staff at the titular hotel chain in the Hawaiian location has since blossomed into a continuous series, showcasing a different group of characters (with some carry-over from previous seasons) amidst a different White Lotus location.

The first season of "The White Lotus" was filmed in late 2020 in Hawaii under Covid-19 guidelines. Much of the production was held at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. The hotel was closed to film the season, giving the cast and crew their own bubble. Interestingly enough, Mike White had different plans for the location of what would become the first season of HBO's latest original hit series.

5 Characters Who Could Return In The White Lotus Season 4
Image
After season 3 of "The White Lotus" wrapped up its run in April 2025, fans started thinking about the forthcoming fourth season ... and shortly before the Thailand-set finale of that third season aired, the cast and crew participated in an oral history about the series (in The Hollywood Reporter) that brought up an interesting point. Could some characters from the anthology's first two seasons, which were set in Hawai'i and Italy, come back for the fourth outing? Maybe!

Season 3 star Patrick Schwarzenegger, who plays privileged twentysomething Saxon Ratliff, brought up some fan chatter to showrunner and creator Mike White, saying, "I've heard rumors of them doing an all-star season." White's response? "I'd love to do that." If I might be permitted to bring up White's time on "Survivor" — as I am wont to do — this is actually perfectly in line with the reality competition show hosted by Jeff Probst, which frequently features casts with returning players,...

All 3 of The White Lotus seasons ranked from worst to best
Image
The White Lotus, created by Mike White, is the hottest show in the world right now! The third season of the hit HBO series just came to an end in April 2025, four years after the series premiered in the summer of 2021.

To celebrate the greatness of this show, I ranked all three seasons of The White Lotus so far. Honestly, there is no "worst" season of this show. They are all good, but there's definitely one show that stands apart from the rest.

This article contains spoilers for all three seasons of "The White Lotus," including the season 3 finale "Amor Fati."

In 2022, after season 2 of "The White Lotus" wrapped up, creator, writer, and director Mike White spoke in a post-finale featurette (via Variety) about how each season of the series has a different theme. "The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex," White said at the time. "I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus."

Now that the third season is complete, we know that it's precisely what White did, exploring themes of revenge, family, and spirituality through deeply flawed characters like Piper Ratliff (Sarah Catherine Hook), who plans to move to a monastery there before abruptly changing her...

Are ‘The White Lotus’ Actors Going to Hog All the Emmy Nominations Again?
Image
Fans of “The White Lotus” are looking forward to the season finale of Mike White’s twisted HBO series on Sunday night – but for actors from other series hoping to be recognized in the supporting categories at this year’s Emmy Awards, it could be a sobering night.

That’s because Season 3 of the series has already spent seven hours spinning out juicy storylines for a wide array of actors, including Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood, Parker Posey, Jason Isaacs, Carrie Coon, Natasha Rothwell and Sam Rockwell. If the finale does justice to the craziness that filled the first seven episodes, it’s going to be very hard to keep Emmy voters from doing what they did after Season 1 and Season 2 of the series, when the supporting categories were clogged with “White Lotus” performers to the exclusion of almost everybody else.

For its first season in 2022, when the show was classified as a limited series,...

How Season 3 of ‘The White Lotus’ could set a new record for Emmy acting nominations
Image
If you thought the first two seasons of The White Lotus received lots of acting nominations at the Emmys, just wait.

Season 3, which comes to an end this Sunday on HBO, could end up beating the previous number of acting bids for both Season 1 (eight) and Season 2 (nine). Jennifer Coolidge won back-to-back Emmys for playing quirky resort guest Tanya McQuoid, while Murray Bartlett claimed gold for the first season as the Maui hotel manager.

The third installment, which focuses on wellness and spirituality in Thailand, boasts a whopping 17 series regulars as of the penultimate episode, which aired March 30. The actors can essentially be divided into four cliques: the Ratliff family; the female best friends; hotel employees/acquaintances; and those involved in a revenge storyline.

That doesn't even count the recurring actors billed as guest stars, such as Nicholas Duvernay as Zion, Arnas Fedaravicius as Valentin, Christian Friedel as Fabian, Dom Hetrakul as Pornchai,...

Here's Why The Stakes For The White Lotus Season 3 Finale Feel Higher Than Ever
Image
This post contains spoilers for "The White Lotus" season 3.

In one week, someone at the White Lotus' scenic and tranquil Thailand location is going to die. Judging by this season's focus on shady American tourists and career criminals, several people might not make it out alive. This is, of course, the modus operandi of Mike White's not-quite-anthology series about tourism, wealth, whiteness, and selfishness. Tourists -- many of them white, rich, and unbearable -- come to an idyllic resort for a week, and at the end of the week, one of them dies. It's dark, funny, and absurdist. So why does it feel so much more stressful this time around?

Episode 7 of the show's super-compelling third season is about as slow a burn as "The White Lotus" has ever presented. While most episodes of the series cover one day in the life of the resort's vacationers and staff, "Killer...

Can Jenny Slate Make Cancer Funny?
Image
Mere days after she wrapped Dying for Sex, Jenny Slate chopped off all her hair.

She’d had basically the same style all her adult life, but through the process of filming the FX cancer comedy, her locks began to take on new meaning. “I felt that my long hair held the sadness, and I just needed to reboot my physicality,” she says, explaining how she got what was left of her character out of her head. “Usually an extreme haircut means, ‘Oh hey, looks like you’re getting divorced!’ ” she notes. “But this was the first time I’ve changed my appearance because something good happened to me.”

And really, Dying for Sex should be very good to, and for, Jenny Slate. It’s the sort of sure-to-get-noticed prestige limited series — debuting April 4 — that can potentially alter an actor’s career trajectory. Not that Slate, 42, needs much of a course correction.

The White Lotus Season 3: Sam Rockwell’s Crazy Monologue Still Doesn’t Beat Show’s Filthiest Moment To Date
Image
The White Lotus has always been surprising, shocking viewers with its sudden twists and turns. Having made quite a name for itself with its biting satire and outrageous moments, the recently released season three of the show is no different. In a surprise cameo, Sam Rockwell showed up on the latest episode of the show, delivering a totally wild and unhinged monologue that has become one of the most talked about moments of the show within hours of its premiere.

However, the brilliantly delivered monologue still doesn’t seem to top The White Lotus‘ filthiest moment to date: when Armond, in an effort to take revenge on Shane, ended up sh*tting in his suitcase, all the way back in season one.

Sam Rockwell’s electrifying monologue vs. The White Lotus’ filthiest scene The infamous poop scene in...

Alexandra Daddario Responds To Those Who Call Her “A Bad Actress”: “I Have An Emmy Nomination”
Image
After more than a decade on screen, Alexandra Daddario has a message for her critics.

The Emmy Award nominee recently addressed the “most outrageous rumor” about herself “that won’t go away” despite her nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress in Season 1 of HBO‘s The White Lotus.

“That I’m a bad actress. I’m not a bad actress,” she told Elle during their drinking game ‘Thirst Trap’. “I’ve just done some projects that don’t showcase me in the way that I should be showcased. Okay? Director and the writing is everything, and sometime’s I’m lit poorly, but I’m not a bad actress. I got an Emmy nomination. How do you think I did that?”

Following her Emmy-nominated performance as newlywed journalist Rachel Patton in the show’s 2021 Hawaii-set debut season, Daddario previously told Deadline that The White Lotus creator Mike White has ideas for...

“I’m not a bad actress,” Daddario said. “I’ve just done some projects that don’t showcase me in the way that I should be showcased. Okay? Directing and the writing is everything. Sometime’s I’m lit poorly, but I’m not a bad actress. I got an Emmy nomination. How do you think I did that?”

Daddario starred in the first season of Mike White’s popular HBO series “The White Lotus” and was nominated at the Emmys for outstanding supporting actress in a limited series. White Lotus Season 3 Cast Guide: Every New And Returning Character
Image
This article reveals details about the "White Lotus" Season 3 premiere, so beware of spoilers.

"The White Lotus" is back for its third season, and this time, creator Mike White — who won multiple Emmys for the show's first two outings — is bringing audiences to Thailand to see who's getting murdered. So, what can we expect? Probably some foreboding yet gorgeous shots of the Thai landscape, friction between the staff members of the fictional luxury White Lotus hotel in the Asian country, and a star-studded cast. Season 1, set in Hawaii's beautiful Maui, featured pretty phenomenal performers like Connie Britton, Natasha Rothwell, Steve Zahn, Sydney Sweeney, Molly Shannon, Jake Lacy, Murray Bartlett, and Jennifer Coolidge. Then, in Season 2, which took place in the Sicilian city of Taormina, Michael Imperioli, Aubrey Plaza, Meghann Fahy, Theo James, F. Murray Abraham, Leo Woodall, and Haley Lu Richardson, among others, joined Coolidge.

Coolidge is no longer on...

Roush Review: All Thai’d Up in a New Season of ‘White Lotus’
Image
Forbidden fruit is a house specialty of The White Lotus, where sensual misadventures of the flesh collide with mysteries of the troubled soul in the most exotic season yet of Mike White‘s irresistible anthology. With its lush greenery and ever-present wildlife of lurking lizards and monkeys staring down from trees, Thailand provides a thrilling backdrop of Buddhist mysticism, though few visitors will enjoy a state of Zen for very long. A shockingly violent prologue sets a tone of underlying menace that weaves throughout as the resort welcomes another memorably stellar ensemble. The excellent cast is led by Jason Isaacs as Southern businessman Timothy Ratliff, who ignores the “digital detox” mandate of no phones, suffering an existential crisis as he tries to shield his spoiled family from stressful events back home. Parker Posey is his pampered wife Victoria, a caricature of privilege, with Patrick Schwarzenegger (a horndog clone of Jake Lacy...

‘The White Lotus’ Season Three: Third Verse Same as the First
Image
The third season of HBO’s Emmy-winning satire The White Lotus takes place at yet another location of the titular fictional hotel chain, with Thailand following Hawaii and Sicily. In the opening scene of the season premiere, a character who has spent a lot of time at the Hawaii resort considers this new location and suggests, “It’s actually really similar. Except there’s no monkeys in Hawaii.”

This is, perhaps, a bit of a meta confession by White Lotus writer-director Mike White. If the Sicily season at times evoked...

‘The White Lotus’ Season 4? The Cast Dreams Big—Including a Zombie Jennifer Coolidge!
Image
The third season of ‘White Lotus’ is scheduled to premiere on February 16, 2025, with episodes airing weekly, but we do know that season 4 has been renewed ahead of the premiere. As usual, fans have already started speculating about the potential setting, new cast members, and stories that might be explored.

In a recent interview, members of the season 3 cast shared their dream ideas for the future of ‘The White Lotus,’ offering up some exciting—and unexpected—suggestions.

Michelle Monaghan, who joins season 3 as actress Jaclyn, is fully on board with the idea of shaking things up by moving the next season to the snow-capped mountains of a luxury ski resort. While ‘The White Lotus’ has so far taken viewers to tropical destinations, Monaghan believes a wintery setting could provide a fresh take on the show’s signature mix of satire and suspense.

“That would be an interesting choice – to switch it...

Sundance Breakout ‘Together,’ Body Horror Film With Dave Franco and Alison Brie, Sells to Neon
Image
“Together,” a horror film with Dave Franco and Alison Brie, has sold to Neon after premiering at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Neon plans to release the movie in theaters on Aug. 1 amid the dog days of summer.

The feature, from first-time writer-director Michael Shanks, was one of the rare Sundance films to spark a bidding war. A24 was also in the running at other point, with other studios kicking the tires. It’s not clear what the final price tag is, but sources said the bidding was well over $10 million at one point. Another source said the final price reached $17 million, which makes it one of the richest deals in Sundance history.

“Together” follows a codependent couple who move to the remote countryside to become even closer. And they do, on a nightmarish physical level, thanks to a supernatural force. Putting a meta spin on the body horror film, Franco...

'The White Lotus' Star Explains Her Season 3 Return

Not every actor gets to return to the world of Mike White's The White Lotus, so Natasha Rothwell made the most of it when she reprised her role as Belinda in the upcoming third season. Rothwell will be just the second actor to make a sophomore appearance in the hit anthology series. Jennifer Coolidge returned as Tanya McQuoid in Season 2, and was dramatically killed off in the finale. Rothwell sat out the second season, which saw the new cast members fly to Italy. But Season 3 is taking them even further abroad to Thailand, although Rothwell still can't reveal why.

"I would be on set, even when it wasn't my day shooting, just to watch the magic unfold," Natasha Rothwell told Entertainment Weekly during a recent interview. Rothwell is joined in Season 3 by series newcomers Jason Isaacs, Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Walton Goggins, Michelle Monaghan, and Aimee Lou Wood,...

The White Lotus Season 3's 1 Returning Star Reveals Character's New Storyline
Image
A returning fan favorite has revealed her character's new storyline in the eagerly anticipated third season of The White Lotus. In Season 1, Natasha Rothwell played Belinda Lindsey, a spa manager from the White Lotus resort in Hawaii.

Rothwell will reprise the role for which she earned an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the upcoming season of the acclaimed HBO satirical vacation anthology set in Thailand. Following last year's announcement of Belinda's return, the actor has refused to divulge any plot information about her role until now. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rothwell joked about how she had been sworn to secrecy regarding how and why her character relocates from Hawaii. "The tension has been unbearable, honestly," she said. "My hairdresser, the cab driver, people have been shaking me down for information, and I'm just like, 'I've signed my life away. I can't tell you anything.
