Born in Columbia, Mo. to aeronautics engineer Fred Wegman and pediatric nurse Sharon (Hubenthal), Whitney Wegman-Wood is of mixed heritage; German, Polish, Czechoslovakia, Scotch-Irish, and English. She took to performing early in her life beginning her acting career in grade school and church plays at age 8. In her teens she expanded her love for acting, performing in a multitude of Washington High School's theater programs.

Whitney attended Avila University in Kansas City, Mo where she continued to pursue her passion for theater arts. After university Whitney moved to Atlanta, GA where she began working in film and television. During her time in Georgia she made appearances in numerous programs including "Thesis," "Meet the Browns," and "The Vampire Diaries."

Whitney eventually returned to school to pursue an MFA in Acting at the University of Virginia. Upon completing her Masters she continued to further her acting pursuits working in multiple markets across the country.

In 2018 she won Best Actress in a Feature Film at the San Diego Film Awards for her portrayal of Carson in the film "Valhalla." She has been the co-host of The IntelleXual Podcast since 2016 where she's interviewed creatives from all disciplines in film, television and music.

In 2022 Whitney penned her first screenplay, a short-film titled "The Last Butterflies," a deeply personal story born of her nightmares. Whitney went on to produce and star in the film and is currently enjoying a successful festival run where her efforts have resulted in more awards and accolades.

Whitney has always been a thoughtful and dedicated artist, and she has successfully expanded her tenacity and resourcefulness to include producing as well as performing. She continues to pursue her art with the same drive and intention she has had since she was a youth, to make everyday an adventure and to strive to never be boring.
