20th Century Studios wants to welcome audiences back to the enchanted Night at the Museum franchise with a reimagining from Die Hart and Stuber writer Tripper Clancy. 21 Laps tapped Clancy for the gig, keeping plot details under wraps. Shawn Levy and Dan Levine will produce via 21 Laps, with Emily Morris overseeing the project. While plot elements are scarce, Deadline says the Night at the Museum reimagining will feature a new story and all-new characters.
Shawn Levy directed 2006’s Night at the Museum, based on Milan Trenc’s 1993 children’s book. The original film stars Ben Stiller as Larry Daley, the new security guard at the Museum of Natural History. To Larry’s surprise, he discovers that an ancient curse causes the animals and exhibits on display to come alive and wreak havoc.

Though comedic legend Eddie Murphy has given audiences many reasons to laugh throughout his four-plus decades in Hollywood, he has many notable duds on his extensive CV. One stands out like a sore thumb above the rest in the 2007 comedy, Norbit, though it's been getting the thumbs up lately from Paramount+ subscribers in an unlikely resurgence.
Via Flix Patrol, Norbit is on Paramount+'s top 10 movie chart in the U.S. The panned Murphy film is a surprise entrant at #9 on the streaming service's chart, joining a list that includes a much more regarded 2000s film in Mean Girls, Tom Cruise's action thriller, Top Gun: Maverick and the recently-released crime thriller, Novocaine, which is in the top spot.
What Is Norbit About, And Why Is it Hated?

Benedict Cumberbatch, Riz Ahmed, Dua Lipa and Annie Lennox are among 300 public figures to have signed an open letter calling on UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to end the country’s “complicity” in the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
“We urge you to take immediate action to end the UK’s complicity in the horrors in Gaza,” read the letter. “Right now, children in Gaza are starving while food and medicine sit just minutes away, blocked at the border. Words won’t feed Palestinian children – we need action. Every single one of Gaza’s 2.1 million people is at risk of starvation, as you read this.

Stars: Jackie Chan, Pierce Brosnan, Rufus Jones, Mark Tandy, Niall McNamee, Charlie Murphy, Orla Brady, Michael McElhatton | Written by David Marconi, Stephen Leather | Directed by Martin Campbell
Going into The Foreigner, I expected a standard action thriller, perhaps a predictable revenge plot padded with familiar tropes and over-the-top set pieces. But what I got was something far more grounded, surprisingly tense, and emotionally resonant. Director Martin Campbell, known for revitalizing James Bond not once but twice, manages to deliver a taut, politically-tinged thriller that’s equal parts espionage drama and personal vendetta, anchored by two compelling performances from Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan.
Jackie Chan, in a stark departure from his typically light-hearted action fare, plays Quan Ngoc Minh, a quiet, almost ghostlike London restaurateur whose teenage daughter is killed in a politically motivated bombing. Chan’s performance is subdued, even haunted. There’s a depth of sorrow in his...

The London TV Screenings, or London Screenings for short, the global TV industry event running Feb. 23-28, is ready for its close-up. The once low-key affair, where networks and sales outfits screen their latest shows for international buyers, has grown to can’t-miss status over the years. 2025 will be London Screenings’ time to shine, particularly without any competition from the now-defunct Mip TV.
That said, Mip will be holding its own inaugural Mip London event during the week, featuring panel discussions on industry trends, hot new properties from the likes of South Korea and Japan, as well as a session with David Beckham and Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria.
The London Screenings come at an inflection point for the global TV industry. After a sustained boom in high-end drama, networks, and streamers are again cutting costs and betting more on lower-cost non-fiction and reality shows. In the fiction arena,...

Denzel Washington is one of the most successful actors of modern times, although even a performer of his stature has had some duds at the box office. With a long and fruitful career that’s included two Academy Award wins and countless iconic roles, Washington can count himself among the most enduring and beloved stars in contemporary Hollywood. While Washington’s recent role in Gladiator II has fast become his highest-grossing endeavor, it’s important to look back on the underappreciated releases and questionable roles that make up his least commercially successful movies.
The best Washington movies all offer something unique, as he consistently imbues his roles with an urgency that makes them eternally memorable. From his ongoing collaboration with director Spike Lee to an artful interpretation of a Shakespeare classic, even Washington’s lowest-grossing films all had something to offer. It’s not the best streamer when it comes to Christmas movies, but there are some hidden gems.
Like many relatively new streaming services, Peacock doesn’t have nearly the library of holiday films as some of the larger, more established platforms. However, it is not completely bereft of quality options. While I wouldn’t recommend subscribing to the NBCUniversal streamer specifically for its Christmas offerings, if you already have a subscription there is small, but eclectically interesting, group of holiday movies you can stream to keep you merry and bright through the end of the year.
Both the original “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and the animated remake “The Grinch” are available on Peacock; they even have a Grinch-themed Yule Log channel that you can put on in the background if you want to make sure that your holiday parties have a little tinge of mischief in the air.

Standing on the shoulders of Oscar-bothering British boffin dramas such as The Theory of Everything and The Imitation Game, Ben Taylor's (Sex Education) big-screen debut is a gentle proposition that would fit snugly into the Christmas TV schedules. It follows young nurse/embryologist Jean (Thomasin McKenzie), scientist Dr Robert Edwards (James Norton), known as Bob, and obstetrician Patrick Steptoe (Bill Nighy) from 1968-1978 as they create the first “test-tube baby” through painstaking — and often painful — trial and error.

The filmmakers of the British drama, Joy, were tasked to find a cast of talented actors to help in recreating the events of one of the biggest medical breakthroughs in history. Directed by Ben Taylor, Joy follows a surgeon, Patrick Steptoe, and a scientist, Robert Edwards, who team together with embryologist nurse Jean Purdy to work on solving the medical puzzle of infertility. The trio pioneers the breakthrough of in vitro fertilization, which ultimately leads to the birth of the world's first IVF baby, born in 1978.
Joy portrays the determination and dedication that the three have in terms of their research, and helping women who are struggling with fertility. But as shown in the Joy movie trailer, it also masterfully displays the media scrutiny, religious outrage and public scorn they were forced to endure in the process. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes have described the movie as a triumphant representation of...

In Norbit, actor Eddie Murphy played three different characters. Known for playing multiple parts in one movie, Norbit promised the same type of comedic entertainment fans came to expect from Murphy. Norbit followed Murphy's acclaimed performance in 2006's Dreamgirls and was a stark contrast to the Oscar-winner, ultimately so poorly received that Murphy received multiple Razzie Award nominations for the numerous parts he played.
Murphy went from a highly praised performance in Dreamgirls to overwhelming criticism in Norbit in an extremely short period. Here's how it happened and what the makers of Norbit said about it.

TV shows that consistently deliver heart-pumping action have become a dominant force in the modern entertainment industry. A consequence of this massive popularity is that production companies and streaming services are now more likely to invest massive budgets into these shows to enhance their production quality. Expansive set designs, CGI, impressive stunt work, and A-list casting all contribute to these massive budgets (via Media C-Suite).
While a big budget is no guarantee of a good TV show, it is hard to deny that a lot of these shows are incredible. From exploring the worlds of Westeros and Middle-earth, to a galaxy far, far, away, these shows have left an indelible mark on the TV industry and have set the bar for other action TV shows to aspire to. These shows have revolutionized contemporary television, and often boast budgets per episode that rival even the biggest blockbuster movies.

Wes Cravens underrated supernatural comedy Vampire in Brooklyn has received a brand-new streaming update. The 1996 cult classic was led by Eddie Murphy as a powerful vampire named Maximillian, who tries to seduce an NYPD detective in hopes of saving himself.
Starting on Tuesday, Oct. 1, Vampire in Brooklyn will officially be available to stream for free on Pluto TV. Besides Murphy, the film also starred Oscar winner Angela Bassett as Detective Rita Veder, whos unaware that shes actually a half-human, half-vampire hybrid. While working on her latest murder mystery case involving a corpse-filled ship, Rita meets Maximillian, who wants to transform her into a full vampire before the next full moon. Just like in his other movies such as The Nutty Professor and Norbit, Murphy also appeared as two different characters in the movie, including Pauly, an alcoholic preacher, and Guido, an Italian-American mobster.

Miranda Keyes freezes her Flood-infected mother, Dr. Halsey, in one of many dramatic twists that will never be resolved. Original characters like Kwan and Makee had storylines that were never fully realized, leaving the show's intentions ambiguous at best. Halo season 3 was supposed to adapt Halo: Combat Evolved's story, making the series' cancelation more frustrating.
Now that Paramount+ has officially axed its Halo adaptation, there are several storylines viewers will never see come to fruition in live-action. While Paramount was evasive on why Halo was canceled after two seasons, it's safe to assume that the series' ballooning costs reportedly, it cost $200 million to make and mixed reviews were at the root of the company's decision. Although the show's sophomore outing was much more well-received than its abysmal first season, swapping out showrunners and leaning harder on the source material just couldn't salvage the story of Pablo Schreiber's Master Chief.

Halo season 2 improved by strengthening its ties to the source material, but it was too little, too late. Halo season 3 would have finally delved into Halo: Combat Evolved's story and resolved cliffhangers from season 2, making the show's cancelation more frustrating. Paramount+ likely canceled Halo due to staggering costs and an inability to recoup fans' goodwill.
I'll be the first to admit it: Paramount+'s Halo TV show wasn't very good, but I'm still frustrated by its cancelation. In its first season, Halo was universally panned by critics and audiences alike. It wasn't a faithful Halo adaptation, but it was also just mid-level sci-fi fare at best. I was surprised by just how much Halo season 2 tried to correct course after its first outing's missteps. Obviously, there were certain elements the Covenant's Blessed One concept, for starters that the series couldn't completely retcon or erase, but it certainly did damage control.

Spoilers are ahead for Halo season 2's finale.
Halo season 3 must bring in key video game characters to maintain the success achieved in season 2. The introduction of new characters tied to the core canon, like an Arbiter, adds depth to the Paramount+ series. It would be great to see the Flood Gravemind, Avery Johnson, and others in action in Halo season 3.
Halo season 2 made substantial improvements after its first outing received loads of backlash from long-time fans of the video-game source material. While Halo season 3 will finally adapt Combat Evolved's story, it can't rest on the sophomore installment's laurels. In fact, to continue the Paramount+ series' success, Halo season 3 needs to introduce several key video game characters. Although the second season still kept Pablo Schreiber's Master Chief out of his Spartan armor for the majority of its episodes, Halo season 2 clearly understood the character — and the narrative — much better.

Spoilers are ahead for Halo season's finale.
Master Chief's coin story in Halo season 2 reveals his deep understanding of his own destiny and the ability to take control of his fate. In the finale, John prioritizes saving his friends over his mission, showcasing his growth as a hero who makes his own luck. The coin story serves as a powerful thematic element in season 2, highlighting Master Chief's transition from a symbol to a true hero.
Several times throughout Halo season 2, the show references an anecdote from Master Chief's past — one that involves him flipping a coin and calling "heads" or "tails." Although it might seem like a throwaway memory at first, Master Chief's coin story is actually incredibly meaningful.
Spoilers are ahead for Halo season 2's finale.
Kwan's connection to the Mother raises questions about her role in the larger Halo lore. Although unlikely, the theory that the Mother may be a manifestation of the Gravemind suggests Kwan is being manipulated for a darker purpose. It's more likely that Kwan has been given geas (or genesong) by an ancient Forerunner, which adds a weight to her destiny.
For the duration of its eight-episode run, Halo season 2 has pushed viewers to wonder about the nature of Kwan Ha's (Yerin Ha) connection to the ever-mysterious Mother (Olwen Fouéré), an apparent shaman who first appears on Sanctuary. Throughout the season, Kwan experiences visions of a looming monster that threatens the galaxy. At first, she shrugs it off as a story her father would tell her on Madrigal, but when she starts being visited by the Mother, Kwan's perception shifts. After appearing to Kwan on Aleria,...

Spoilers are ahead for Halo season 2's finale.
Master Chief and Cortana finally make landfall on the Halo, leading to a fascinating observation about the ring world's nature. The Halo is a fusion of AI and organic life, reflecting the relationship dynamics between Master Chief and Cortana. Master Chief struggles with his identity throughout season 2, ultimately learning to have faith in himself and make his own decisions — with Cortana's support instead of her control.
In the Halo season 2 finale, Master Chief (Pablo Schreiber) and Cortana (Jen Taylor; Christina Bennington) finally make landfall on the Halo, which prompts the AI to make a rather compelling observation about the ring world. Of course, John-117's reunion with Cortana is almost more exciting than the on-screen depiction of the Halo ring. In Halo season 1's ending, Cortana assumes control of Master Chief, turning him into the perfect warrior, just as Natascha McElhone's Dr.

Spoilers are ahead for Halo season 2's finale.
The Monitor's appearance in the Halo season 2 finale helps set up the third season. The Flood takes center stage in the finale, which teases some characters' future desires to activate the Halo. Interestingly, 343 Guilty Spark and Makee are poised to be counterparts to Master Chief and Cortana.
The last scene in Halo season 2's finale shows viewers a glimpse of the Monitor, an iconic franchise character who will have a big impact on Halo season 3. Throughout the episode, scenes of Master Chief (Pablo Schreiber) speaking with an unseen someone (or something) are interwoven throughout the main action. Chronologically speaking, the conversation happens after the rest of the episode's events, so it does tease where John-117 ends up. The setting and the identity of the character John's speaking to, however, aren't made explicit until the final seconds of the finale.

TV is a better medium for video game adaptations than film, but there are still very few success stories. Adaptations have to account for the loss of gameplay. Hits like Castlevania, Twisted Metal, & The Last of Us prove TV video game adaptations could be improving.
Video game adaptations have been notoriously hit-and-miss, but there are a few outstanding TV shows which have delighted players and newcomers alike. After years of mediocre offerings, there are promising signs that the so-called video game adaptation curse could be breaking, with an uptick in great movies and TV shows. TV is perhaps better suited to video game adaptations than movies, because the experience of watching TV is more similar to playing a video game. Both TV and video games require long breaks between sessions and a steady build.
Despite the obvious advantages of TV, there have been surprisingly few video game adaptations until quite recently.
