[This story contains spoilers from Surface season two, including the finale “Unearthed.”]

By the end of season two of Apple TV+’s Surface, Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s Sophie Ellis finally has evidence connecting the Huntley family to her mother’s death, but, in typical Surface fashion, there’s one more twist as she’s ready to present this information to the police.

It turns out there are warrants out for Sophie’s arrest from the time when she was going by the alias of Tess Caldwell. Any discovery of what these warrants are for and how this new information about Sophie’s past could affect her future will have to wait for a potential third season of Surface. Apple TV+ has not yet renewed the thriller, which premiered its eight-episode second season on Feb. 21 before releasing the season finale on April 11.

Surface returned with its second season on Apple TV+ in February, and it's now halfway through with episode 5 set to debut on Friday, March 21. Ahead of the episode's launch, Cbr can provide an exclusive sneak peek with a new clip.

Freida Pinto has signed on to “Surface” Season 2 at Apple, Variety has learned exclusively.

Pinto joins series star Gugu Mbatha-Raw as well as fellow new cast member Phil Dunster of “Ted Lasso” fame. As previously announced, “Surface” Season 2 will see Mbatha-Raw’s character Sophie return to her hometown of London and “rediscovering the unfinished relationships that have haunted her memories – as she finds out where she really came from, and what made her the flawed person she was.”

Pinto will play Grace, Quinn’s (Dunster) fiancé. Quinn is the troubled scion of the infamous Huntley family. As the soon-to-be newest member of the Huntley family, Grace is said to be “conflicted about what she’s really signing up for, and forms a special bond with Sophie.”

“Ted Lasso” breakout Phil Dunster’s role in the second season of “Surface” has been revealed.

Dunster joining the second season of the Gugu Mbatha-Raw-led Apple series was reported in early March, but character details were being kept under wraps at the time.

Variety can now exclusively report that Dunster will star as Quinn, the older brother of Eliza (Millie Brady). Quinn is described as “the privileged scion of a troubled, old-money family who’s attempting to blaze a new trail for the younger generation – all the while struggling against his own darker tendencies.”

As previously announced, “Surface” Season 2 will see Mbatha-Raw’s character Sophie return to her hometown of London and “rediscovering the unfinished relationships that have haunted her memories – as she finds out where she really came from, and what made her the flawed person she was.”

It’s transfer time for Phil Dunster, who has played AFC Richmond’s star striker Jamie Tartt on the Emmy-winning comedy drama Ted Lasso for three seasons. The actor is joining Gugu Mbatha-Raw on Season 2 of her psychological thriller Surface, Breaking Baz can reveal.

Both Ted Lasso and Surface are part of the Apple TV+ universe.

Surface launched on the streamer last summer and audiences were intrigued with the tale created by Veronica West (High Fidelity) about a woman called Sophie (played by Mbatha-Raw) who has amnesia after a suicide attempt in San Francisco.

Apple TV+ is bringing viewers a second season of “Surface”.

The streamer made the announcement on Friday, Dec. 2, revealing that the hit psychological thriller starring and executive produced by Gugu Mbatha-Raw will be returning for a second season.

In the first season, Mbatha-Raw starred as Sophie, who’s left with amnesia after suffering severe head trauma, and makes some shocking discoveries about herself and her life as she sets out to discover her own secrets.

The mess she left behind in San Francisco, however, will catch up with her.

Apple TV+ has greenlit a second reason of the hit psychological thriller “Surface.”

The series, created by Veronica West and produced by Apple Studios and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, follows Sophie (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), a woman who has suffered a traumatic head injury that leaves her with extreme memory loss. The injury is believed to be a result of a suicide attempt.

In addition to starring, Mbatha-Raw serves as an executive producer alongside West, Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter.
