Christopher Nolan at an event for Inception (2010)
IMAX tickets for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey are already on sale a year in advance
Christopher Nolan at an event for Inception (2010)
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is building quite mythic hype with it being the director’s most expensive film, which includes being shot entirely with IMAX cameras. IMAX boss Rich Gelfond had explained, “A year before Chris started filming The Odyssey, he called me and said he wanted to make a whole film shot with IMAX cameras.” Gelfond added, “That couldn’t be done for a lot of reasons. There were lots of issues.” Then, he said, “‘I’m going to give you a challenge. If you can figure out how to solve these problems, I’m going to make Odyssey 100% film with film with IMAX cameras’, and we’ve solved his problems. So, this will be the first film ever, at least filmed 100% with IMAX cameras.”

The teaser trailer can currently be seen in theaters, but it hasn’t made its way online just yet. Universal and IMAX are...

‘The Odyssey’: Tickets For Christopher Nolan’s Homer Epic On Sale This Week
Image
In one of the worst kept secrets since Woody Allen played Michael’s Pub, Imax 70Mm showtime tickets to Christopher Nolan’s The Oydssey are expected to go on sale Thursday, a whole year before the Universal movie opens.

Sources at Imax, Universal and other circuits are mum about this, as if Matt Damon’s Odysseus character will slay them for making a peep.

This is a first that a studio would put a movie’s tickets on sale a year in advance. Typically advance ticket sales dates are strategic, i.e., there’s generally a two-month lead for a highly anticipated movie like a Star Wars: Force Awakens, and a short lead for movies that are expected to tank, or be semi-controversial, ala Disney’s Snow White (11 days before its March 21 release). The thinking behind this is there’s a rabid appetite out there for the movie from Nolan...

The Odyssey Set Photo Reveals New Look At Matt Damon In Full Armor As Greek Hero Odysseus
Image
The Odyssey is currently shooting on the Moray Firth coast in Scotland. As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, Matt Damon, who plays Greek hero Odysseus, has been spotted in full costume on set. Tom Holland and Zendaya are also thought to be on hand to film scenes for the movie.

This new look doesn't reveal much, but Damon looks suitably impressive in the armour. However, while excitement for Christopher Nolan's next movie continues to increase a year ahead of its release, there's still no sign of the teaser trailer playing in theaters before Jurassic World Rebirth.

As a reminder, The Odyssey sneak peek opens with a shot of the sea, and a voice that says, "Darkness. Zeus' law smashed to pieces. A kingdom without a King since my master died. He knew it wasn't a winnable war, and then somehow, somehow, he won it."

Jon Berthal's character can then he heard stating,...

How to Buy IMAX Tickets for Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ — 365 Days in Advance
Image
It won’t have to be an Odyssean trek to the theaters for Christopher Nolan fans to snag IMAX tickets to his next film, “The Odyssey.” Two years after Nolan’s Best Picture winner “Oppenheimer” left audiences scrambling for IMAX seats in theaters, tickets for “The Odyssey” will go on sale on July 17, 2025, exactly one year before the film is released.

Advance tickets will only be available at movie theaters with 70mm IMAX screens and only for select showtimes. As we all remember, “Oppenheimer” in 70mm IMAX was a rarity in certain areas with fans traveling across state lines to go to a screening. And that dedication panned out: “Oppenheimer” earned $975 million at the global box office in 2023, with 20 percent of the grosses due to the IMAX tickets.

Keep in mind, though, that a trailer for “The Odyssey” hasn’t even been released yet from Universal… despite those online leaks...

Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' Opening Up IMAX Ticket Sales a Year Early
Image
In an unexpected and exciting marketing move, Universal Pictures has opened ticket sales for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey an entire year before its release. The Odyssey, slated for release on July 17, 2026, will start displaying theater showtimes that will be for sale on July 17, 2025. ‘The Odyssey’ Imax Tickets Will Go on Sale a Year Before Christopher Nolan’s Epic Opens in Theaters
Image
“A Journey Begins” is the tagline for Christopher Nolan’s next film “The Odyssey.” Few movie lovers expected the quest to start so early.

Imax tickets for “The Odyssey” will go on sale on July 17, 2025 — an entire year before the Universal Pictures action epic is slated to hit the big screen. But there’s a caveat: Tickets will only be available at movie theaters with Imax 70mm screens (the director’s preferred format) — and just for select showtimes. Tickets for other formats and screenings are likely to go on sale much, much closer to the film’s release date.

Universal and Imax declined to comment.

It’s rare that a studio would put tickets on sale so far in advance, but anticipation is high for Nolan’s cinematic follow-up to 2023’s “Oppenheimer,” which further confirmed the director as a box office draw after generating a staggering $975 million globally and winning the Oscar for best picture.

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey Will Sell Tickets 1 Year Before The Movie's Release
Image
The Odyssey is now slated to open up ticket sales about a year before the film's release.Christopher Nolan's first film post-Oppenheimer will adapt the classic Homer epic poem of the same name, with a superstar cast that includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Elliot Page, and Mia Goth.

The hype is already building up for the film, as The Odyssey released a trailer that ran before many showings of Jurassic World Rebirth. This trailer showed Odysseus lost at sea, and set up part of the main conflict at hand. Even though the adaptation won't be released for another year, there is a lot yet to be revealed.

Another development has been made before The Odyssey's release, however. According to the Harkins Theaters website, the tickets for the Nolan film will be "on sale soon." While an exact date was not listed,...

Christopher Nolan Convinced the Studio to Cancel a Batman Spinoff About This Overlooked Hero
Image
Oscar-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan remains influential in redefining the superhero genre thanks to his highly successful The Dark Knight trilogy. However, a new report confirms Nolan used his influence to convince Warner Bros. not to green-light a spinoff starring Batman's often overlooked partner.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Nolan pushed against Warner Bros.' idea of a Robin spinoff on the back of The Dark Knight trilogy that would have chronicled the Batman sidekick's early life. The TV series was conceived considering the critical and commercial success the trilogy yielded, plus the struggles of DC Comics at the time and the fact that no other hero than Batman appeared in the three films.

However, Nolan, wanting full control over all Batman-related projects, nixed the idea, telling Warner Bros. brass not to go through with it. When Nolan expressed his opposition to the series, it was already deep into development.

Image
Christopher Nolan's first film since the award-winning Oppenheimer will be a take on Homer's famous work, The Odyssey. The film will, of course, feature a star-studded cast.

The Odyssey brings back several frequent collaborators of the Oscar-winning filmmaker, as well as welcoming some new ones to the mix. One of the new ones is McU's Tom Holland, who is rumored to portray Telemachus, the son of the film's main protagonist, Matt Damon's Odysseus. In a new interview with GQ Magazine, Tom Holland had nothing but praise for The Odyssey, as well as the extraordinary experience he's had on the set working with Nolan.

Filming for The Odyssey began in mid-February this year, and it's still ongoing. However, it looks like Holland ended its scenes. The actor highlighted that the project was "the job of a lifetime," and revealed that he had "the best experience" on a film set.

“Sinners” and “The Substance” lead the nominations for Fangoria’s 2025 Chainsaw Awards, which recognizes standout achievements in horror across film, television and gaming.

The Story Behind Homer’s ‘The Odyssey’: Illustrated Artworks Of The Legendary Tales Related To Gods, Monsters & Odysseus’ Epic Return
Image
For millennia, the epic poems of Homer have profoundly shaped Western literature and thought with their timeless tales of heroism, gods and the enduring human spirit. While The Iliad plunges us into the raw intensity of the Trojan War’s final weeks, unleashing the wrath of Achilles and detailing the tragic fall of a mighty city, its equally monumental successor The Odyssey unfolds a distinct, yet equally compelling, narrative. This second great epic shifts its focus from the blood-soaked battlefields to the treacherous seas and distant, mythical lands, chronicling the legendary Greek hero Odysseus’ decade-long quest to reclaim his home and family after the fall of Troy.

Director Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of the timeless epic, The Odyssey, is slated for release on July 17, 2026. The film will be presented in Imax with Nolan’s longtime creative partner Emma Thomas producing. The star-studded cast features Matt Damon in the lead role as the king of Ithaca,...

'The Odyssey' Casts Logan Marshall-Green After 'Shōgun's Cosmo Jarvis Drops Out
Image
Although fans might want to see Tom Hardy collaborate with Christopher Nolan on another project, it seems like that won't be the case for a while. Thankfully, one of his lookalikes, Logan Marshall-Green, will be joining the cast of Nolan's upcoming film, The Odyssey. The ambitious movie (and reportedly the most expensive of Nolan's career) is currently in production, with worldwide location filming still ongoing. Now, Marshall-Green will be joining an already impressive ensemble, replacing another Hardy-esque actor, Cosmo Jarvis, in an undisclosed role.

According to a new report from Deadline, Jarvis had to drop out of The Odyssey at the last minute, citing "scheduling conflicts," which is a frustrating but understandable reason. Usually, it's assumed that such a reason for departing a film is due to previous commitments to other film and television projects. Jarvis has had a busy last couple of years, as the actor found massive success...

Christopher Nolan's WWII Epic Is Dominating Global Streaming Charts
Image
Legendary filmmaker Christopher Nolan is an expert at crafting period pieces. One movie that best represents his skill is the World War II epic, Dunkirk, which has become a global streaming hit eight years after its theatrical release.

Per Collider, Dunkirk is enjoying success on Osn, becoming a global top 10 hit on the streaming platform. The film has recently been gathering steam across North Africa and the Middle East, with the movie ranked in the top 10 in Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Egypt and Morocco. A retelling of the Dunkirk evacuation of WWII, which was initially depicted on the big screen several decades ago, Dunkirk sees Nolan provide an all-new experience for viewers regarding the significant historical event.

The film depicts the perspective of the evacuation from land, sea and air, while portraying it with little dialogue to elicit suspense and play up Hans Zimmer's music, making it a more emotional watch for audiences.
