Ex-Fox News Host Bob Beckel Dies At 73; Ran Walter Mondale’s 1984 Presidential Campaign
Image
Former Fox News Channel host and long time political operative Bob Beckel has died at the age of 73. So far, his cause of death is not specified. The passing of the man who ran Walter Mondale’s unsuccessful 1984 Presidential campaign was revealed by old friend Cal Thomas on social media Monday evening. Fnc’s Sean Hannity also announced “dear friend” Beckel’s death on his primetime show Monday.

After former Veep Mondale was soundly beaten by Ronald Reagan in a landslide, Democratic apparatchik Beckel put up his own lobbyist and consulting shingle. As well as becoming a constant on-air pundit in subsequent years, Beckel was the co-host of CNN’s Crossfire for three years during Bill Clinton’s Presidency. Beckel would fully jump back on the campaign trail in 2002 working for the Democrats’ Idaho nominee for U.S. Senate, Alan Blinken. It did not end well, with Beckel resigning after...

Fox News Channel 'Parts Ways' With Eric Bolling After Sexting Investigation
Eric Bolling
Another Fox News Channel scandal has resulted in another very public parting of ways: Eric Bolling is leaving the network, our sister site Variety reports.

In August, Bolling was accused of sending unsolicited pictures of male genitalia to at least two Fox News employees and one Fox Business Network staffer, all of whom were women. The channel hired the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, who investigated allegations against Bill O’Reilly prior to his ouster from Fnc, to look into the claims.

Fox News Dropping 'Fair & Balanced' Slogan After Two Decades
You can’t call Fox News “fair and balanced” anymore… because they’re not calling themselves that anymore.

The cable news network is dropping its famous “Fair & Balanced” marketing slogan, according to New York Magazine — a slogan that’s been an integral part of Fox News since the channel debuted in 1996. The motto was an invention of late founder/chairman Roger Ailes, who resigned last year after a series of sexual-harassment allegations. Fox will reportedly rely on its other tagline going forward: “Most Watched. Most Trusted.”

'Daily Show' parody of 'The Five': Dana Perino and Greg Gutfeld respond
On the Tuesday (Jan.14) episode of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show," correspondent Samantha Bee did a wildly dramatic and hilarious one-woman show based on Fox News' weekday panel discussion show "The Five."

She called it a "story of love" between former White House press secretary Dana Perino, calling her a "a young girl, new to the big city, with big dreams and a heart so pure it makes Mary Poppins look like a disgusting whorebag," and her fellow panelist and frequent seat-neighbor, "Red/Eye" host Greg Gutfeld, whom Bee characterized as "a pill-popping afternoon drunk who's riddled with hepatitis."

While she was at it, Bee tossed in a segment on the panelist rival for Perino's heart, political commentator and financial expert Eric Bolling, and on villanous panelist Bob Beckel, the "Fox liberal," who just wants to expose it all.

The Five Sticks a Fork in Martin Bashir, Beckel Asks: ‘Is He a Syrian?’
Martin Bashir made his rather unceremonious exit from MSNBC on Wednesday, and the hosts of The Five gave him as gracious a send-off as they possibly could, mocking both Bashir and the "small local access network" he called home for over two years. And Bob Beckel, in true Bob Beckel fashion, had a burning question that had absolutely nothing to do with the point of the segment.

The Five: JFK ‘Wouldn’t Be Liberal Enough’ for Today’s Democratic Party
"Would JFK be welcome in today's Democratic Party?" That's the question Fox News' The Five asked just two days before the 50th anniversary of former President John F. Kennedy's assassination. As Bob Beckel said in his introduction to the topic, "Some people have asked whether Ronald Reagan would fit in today's Republican Party and the same question can be asked about President Kennedy."...

'The Five's' Kimberly Guilfoyle on Bob Beckel, County Clare win and coordinating shoes
Commentator, legal analyst and former prosecutor Kimberly Guilfoyle is rightly proud of her Puerto Rican heritage and has mentioned it on Fox News Channel' daily roundtable show "The Five," on which she is a co-host.

That's her mother's side of the family, but on her father's side, the blue-eyed brunette has deep roots in the west of Ireland, specifically County Clare, home to the famous Cliffs of Moher.

Her father, the late Anthony Guilfoyle, emigrated from the Clare town of Ennis to the United States in the 1950s. He eventually landed in San Francisco, where Guilfoyle was born. (Guilfoyle would become the city's first lady while she was married to Gavin Newsom, now California's lieutenant governor.)

Many fans of "The Five" learned about Guilfoyle's Irish heritage when she recently gave a shout-out to the Banner County over the victory of Clare's hurling team -- an ancient Irish sport with ash sticks,...

Jon Stewart to Fox News’ Shep Smith: ‘You Got CNN’d!’ (Video)
Shepard Smith
Shepard Smith debuted Fox News’ bizarre and futuristic newsroom this week, complete with 55-inch touchscreen monitors and a 38-foot-long video wall that displays the latest from around the globe and the Twitter-sphere. But “The Daily Show”s’ Jon Stewart was not impressed with the state-of-the-art news hub and he used his Wednesday show to warn Smith about the dangers he faced from all that gadgetry. Megyn Kelly Spanks Piers Morgan in Total Viewers — But Rachel Maddow Wins Demo
Megyn Kelly’s primetime show on Fox News got off to a strong start on Monday, more than tripling the total viewership of its CNN timeslot rival “Piers Morgan Tonight,” according to preliminary numbers. “The Kelly File” also topped “The Rachel Maddow Show” in total viewers, although Maddow’s show bested Kelly’s new offering in the key demo. It, along with the debut airing of Shepard Smith’s new Fox News show, improved the third-quarter averages of respective timeslot predecessors. Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, Shepard Smith Debuts Feature Giant iPads, Ted Cruz and Bob Beckel’s Sex Life
Monday marked the 17th anniversary of the cable news channel that has dominated the ratings for so long that it hasn’t changed its primetime lineup in over a decade. Until now. Shepard Smith and Megyn Kelly, anchoring Fox News’ new shows amid its new schedule, greeted the new era with futuristic new sets, a stated emphasis on journalism and social media and way too much information about Bob Beckel’s sex life. 'Crossfire': Newt Gingrich, Van Jones help rebuild CNN
Currently in a rebuilding phase after a precipitous slide from its former dominance of the cable-news world, CNN has been adding new on-air talent, such as former ABC News correspondent Jake Tapper, and is also reaching back into its past.

Last week, CNN revived the current-events/debate program "Crossfire," blending a long-running format with a roster of new faces. The daily 30-minute show features two hosts and guests each night, with the co-hosts also appearing across other CNN programming.

From 1982 until 2005, "Crossfire" was a mainstay of the network's daytime lineup, examining the news from the points of view of a politically liberal and a conservative pundit.

The first pairing was journalist and author Tom Braden ("Eight Is Enough") on the liberal side, and commentator, politician and broadcaster Pat Buchanan, as the conservative.

Later rosters for both the daytime show and a Sunday edition included Robert Novak, John Sununu, Tony Snow,...

The Five’s Beckel Brawls with Hosts for Saying Anyone Who Wants Voter ID Laws is a ‘Cracker’
The Five opened its show Tuesday afternoon by looking ahead to tomorrow's speech by President Obama, marking the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech at the 1963 March on Washington. The conservative hosts were attempting to place blame on the president for how little racial progress the country has made since King's day when Bob Beckel jumped in and began...

Fox News' 'The Five' on Miley Cyrus: 'That Was a Cheerleading Squad for Hookers'
Miley Cyrus attends City Of Hope Honors Halston CEO Ben Malka With Spirit Of Life Award - Red Carpet at Exchange LA on October 10, 2012 in Los Angeles, California.
For those turned off by Miley Cyrus' nearly-naked Vma performance on Sunday night, it was a lot easier to look away than it is to stop talking about it. And now Fox News' "The Five" have weighed in, too. And in a surprise twist, they loved it! Just kidding. They hated it with nearly as much passion as MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski. Also read: Miley Cyrus' MTV VMAs Performance Disgusts Mika Brzezinski (Video) "You know what that is? That was a cheerleading squad for hookers," Bob Beckel told his cohorts. The Five’s Bolling and Beckel in Heated Battle Over Oklahoma Shooting, Gun Laws
Just one hour after MSNBC's Joy Reid examined the right's attempts to make the Chris Lane shooting a "racial" issue, Fox News' The Five took on the left for making it about guns. Eric Bolling wondered "how long before one of these bozos on the left starts pointing the finger at the NRA," before Bob Beckel jumped in with, "I'll do it right now."...

Fox’s Bob Beckel: Give Obama ‘A Break’ on Egypt, ‘The Guy’s on Vacation’
On Friday, Fox News Channel’s Martha MacCallum hosted a panel discussion which debated whether President Barack Obama was being proactive enough in addressing the unfolding crisis in Egypt. The Five co-host Bob Beckel said that the president has few options to address the situation in that North African country. Furthermore, it was unfair to criticize Obama for taking a hands-off approach because “the guy’s on vacation.”...
