Stars from Harry Potter, Downton Abbey and Made in Chelsea have recreated an historic moment of protest in the UK’s animal protection movement – as they join calls for an end to animal testing in the UK.

Evanna Lynch, Lucy Watson and Lesley Nicol recreate classic photo

Evanna Lynch – Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter film series – Made in Chelsea’s Lucy Watson, and Lesley Nicol, who played Mrs Patmore in Downton Abbey, have teamed up with animal protection campaigners Cruelty Free International, Animal Free Research and Scotland’s OneKind to re-enact an iconic animal rights demonstration from 100 years ago.

The original photo

The historic photo was captured in 1919 when three women from the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection, today Cruelty Free International, protested in Parliament Square while the Dogs (Protection) Bill was being debated in Parliament. British Stars Call on Boris Johnson to Ban UK Fur Sales
Image
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has received a letter signed by 50 of Britain’s biggest stars, including Dame Judi Dench, Brian May Cbe, Leona Lewis, Gary Lineker OBE, James Arthur, Thandie Newton OBE, Alesha Dixon, Ricky Gervais, Mollie King and Dame Twiggy Lawson, urging him to implement a UK ban on the sale of real animal fur.

Animal protection organisation Humane Society International/UK which leads the #FurFreeBritain campaign in collaboration with other animal charities, is hopeful that a 2021 ban is possible now that the Brexit transition is completed.

Fur farming was banned in Britain almost two decades ago in 2003 as it was deemed too cruel. But since then Britain has imported more than £800 million worth of fur from countries including Finland, China, France and Poland, where animals experience severe suffering and distress on fur farms. This is a double standard that needs to end.

The letter which is also signed by Amanda Holden,...

Celebrities Call on the European Union to Protect Giraffes From Wildlife Trade
Alesha Dixon, Martin Clunes OBE, Deborah Meaden, Anneka Rice, Susan George, Virginia McKenna OBE, Brian Blessed OBE, Fiona Shaw Cbe, Steve Backshall and Lucy Watson have written to EU Environment Commissioner Karmenu Vella urging him to support a proposal by African nations to protect the imperiled giraffe.

The species has declined by up to 40 percent in the past 30 years. The proposal will be discussed at a meeting of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (Cites) in Colombo, Sri Lanka starting in late May, but it has little chance of success without the support of the EU voting bloc.

In an open letter co-signed by the Born Free Foundation, Humane Society International, the International Fund For Animal Welfare, Pro Wildlife, Animal Defenders International, the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Center for Biological Diversity, Animal Welfare Institute, and Avaaz, the stars urge the EU Commission...

Lucy and Tiffany Watson Reveal the Scary Side of Gelatine Sweets this Halloween
This Halloween, cruelty-free champions Lucy and Tiffany Watson have teamed up with Humane Society International (Hsi) UK to expose the spooky truth about what’s really inside some trick or treat sweets.

Lucy and Tiffany Watson Dress Up to Reveal the Scary Side of Gelatine Sweets this Halloween

In a campaign video launched today, the sisters dress in Halloween costumes to raise awareness that many jelly sweets contain gelatine, a substance made of boiled up bones, skin, ligaments and tendons of pigs and cows, many of whom will have suffered horrific lives on factory farms.

On factory farms, animals are crammed together, often kept in cages and crates where they are unable to see sunlight, breathe fresh air or even fully extend their limbs. In the UK, around 2.6 million cattle and 10 million pigs, are killed each year. A large amount of gelatine in sweets sold in the UK also comes...

Made in Chelsea La: Why does everyone break up near water on this show? 14 best bits
Appropriately enough given that it's set in California, Made in Chelsea: La is really starting to hot up. Breakups, makeups, dramas and scandals - and that's just Mark-Francis hiring a new maid. As always, the show was utterly ridiculous - as Jp would say - so read on for our 14 best bits this week...

1. Is the hottest new Chelsea couple Mytton and Jamie or Mytton and Jp?

Mytton is such a player - and now he's turned his attention to Jamie and Jp. We thought he and Jamie were a sure thing after Mytton dubbed him "a bit of a Cali babe", but then as soon as Jp rustled up some courgetti spaghetti for him it was another story. (Courgetti spaghetti, really.) We think Jamie's going to win, though, seeing as the next time trailer showed him wedding Mytton in Vegas. We don't even know what to do with all of this.

Made in Chelsea La has started! The 10 best bits from the premiere
Made in Chelsea feels like it's been off our screens for ages, so the La series couldn't come quickly enough. Luckily, it all kicked off in style last night, so read on for our 10 favourite moments - from Jamie turning out to be a goodie not a baddie to Mark-Francis actually getting a storyline (and potentially a romantic one at that...)

1. The moment when the girls land in La.

With no luggage. It's almost as if they didn't really fly in on that private plane. Ahem.

2. Jp just saw a fit girl!

Andy Jordan would be so proud of Jp, who stopped in his tracks to grin at two attractive young women - Tara and Naz. He even called them "angels", so we're guessing he's a fan.

3. Jamie accidentally invites the girls to Naz and Tara's pool party.

"You are ridiiiiiiiiiiculous," Jp told him (you can take the boy...

Made in Chelsea: Meet the beautiful Americans joining the La series
Made in Chelsea: La is almost here, so it's time to meet the five beautiful Americans joining the show to stir things up.

Joining the Chelsea regulars will be Naz Gharai, Bryan Mione, Cody Weselis, Noah Bewley and Olivia Fox - we just hope they've nailed their awkward silences. Read on to meet them...

Naz Gharai

Naz - originally from Del Mar in San Diego - is single and describes herself as a "hopeless romantic". She's studying for a degree in biology and psychology and is an assistant to a famous music producer, but also enjoys hiking and running on the beach. So what is she looking for? An intelligent man who would take her parasailing or jet packing - oh, and she's described as a "confident head turner who is not afraid to share her opinion". Perfect Chelsea material, then.

Bryan Mione

Bryan, who was born in Calabasas (home of the Kardashians,...

The cast of 'Made In Chelsea' were evacuated from a beach in California after sharks were spotted in the sea. Jamie Laing, James Dunmore, Lucy Watson and Lauren Hutton - who are currently filming for the Los Angeles spin-off of the E4 show - were among those seen fleeing the beach in Malibu as a number of deadly sharks began circulating shores nearby. 13 things we want to see in Made in Chelsea: La
Made in Chelsea's ninth series sadly came to an end on E4 last night (boo), but the closing credits gave us an exciting glimpse of its summer spin-off series set in Los Angeles.

If the La series is anywhere near as fun as last year's NYC stint, it's going to be another American adventure full of squabbles, flirting and potential new relationships. Here are a few things we definitely want to see happening when it returns:

1. Alik reuniting with Louise

Ok, Los Angeles might be quite far away from New York, but surely we'll see some kind of reunion between Alik and Louise? Despite parting ways last week, their relationship remains intact and it is a must to see the Fonz-wannabe coming back. Any excuse to see him arrive in his leather jacket shouting "hey babe!" really.

2. The return of Carson

The Seann William Scott lookalike was a breath...

Jamie Laing reflects on Made in Chelsea after 100 episodes: 'It's been like a diary with unbelievable filters'
After hundreds of hook-ups, pardies and drinks thrown over Spencer Matthews, Made in Chelsea hit the impressive milestone of 100 episodes earlier this week, and there's no sign that it will be coming to an end anytime soon with its upcoming La spinoff.

To celebrate this achievement, one of the E4 show's leading lights Jamie Laing spoke to Digital Spy about his time on the programme and his personal favourite moments.

Did you ever expect to reach 100 episodes?

"Never! When it was first pitched to us it was, 'You guys are posh, we want to follow with cameras'. I thought, 'That's never gonna work'. So to get to 100 episodes and still have a lot of the core cast still going and enjoying it, it's very exciting.

"You always want to do something that lasts in time, if that makes sense. Although it's a reality show and people frown at reality, it...

Made in Chelsea: Family feuds and Chelsea whispers - 14 best bits
Made in Chelsea just keeps bringing the drama - both genuinely heartwrenching (Alik and Louise) and nauseating (Elliot's penis pictures). There was plenty going on in this week's episode, so read on for our 14 favourite moments...

1. We need to talk about Proudlock's hair.

We've been holding this in, but we just can't anymore. We've long admired Proudlock's fascinating sense of style, but his new hair is just so avant garde that we don't think we're quite ready for it. Just look at it go!

We're officially obsessed, so we were a bit disappointed when the man bun returned later on in the episode. Luckily, Proudlock's habit of invading the personal space of his mates was still in full flow - just look at him sitting with Stevie.

2. The Chelsea whispers going on with Louise and Alik's romance.

Made in Chelsea: Your chat is rogue, and bonk is a thing again - 16 best bits
It was another packed week on Made in Chelsea, obviously. We had everything from the reintroduction of the word "bonk" (I mean, really, in my best Millie Mackintosh voice: 'Who says that?') We had Sam Thompson flirting. We had Jess drama (of course). And Stephanie and Lucy made us want to cry... Read on for this week's 16 best bits!

1. Sam Thompson's faces while Jamie was getting dental treatment.

Almost as if he was the one in pain.

But Sam's faces weren't the only entertaining ones in this (rather good) opening scene: we also got Jamie's reaction to the news that Sam "got some action" with New Millie.

And Jamie also gave good face when Sam Thompson read him out a text from Jess, who wanted to meet up to talk. Jamie began to reply no... before making a complete turnaround and deciding he would go and...

Made in Chelsea: 'Hate's a strong word... he doesn't care for you' and 14 other best bits
Poor Lucy Watson. She came back to Made in Chelsea and got all giggly and flirty, but that couldn't last long, could it? 1. Alik is happy again!

Thank. The. Lord. We had been rather worried about Alik's state of mind recently, but he was back to loving life this week - whether he was horse riding ("I haven't been on a horse since I was 10, on the hills of Montana!") or being a terrible shooter ("S**t! 2. This week's utterly pointless Mark-Francis scene.

Yes, don't panic, normal service has most definitely been restored - Mark-Francis couldn't have been in a more pointless scene this week. He bumped into none other than Toff, who was researching some kind of politics piece (because the general election is this week,...

Made in Chelsea: Don't worry, Lucy Watson will be back this series
Made in Chelsea star Lucy Watson has revealed that she will return to the show later this series.

The E4 hit launched its ninth series on Monday (April 13) but some fans complained about the absence of Watson and feared she had quit the show - especially after cast member Mark-Francis Vandelli appeared to suggest that she had in the press.

However, Watson has now told Ok! that she will be back, saying: "I went away for the first part of filming so I'm not in the first few episodes, but I am in this series, I have been filming, so you'll have to kind of wait for that.

"I was kind of hoping that people would miss me, I was kind of hoping that people would notice that I'm not there. I was overwhelmed by the amount of people that said that, so I felt really loved. But it was a good episode.

With each coach being granted two steals this series, it was all to play for, all bets were off and it was all going down to the wire. Right, that's enough sporting phrases - let's get the ball rolling! (Sorry.)

Battle #1: Joyful Soundz vs Newtion Matthews

Team: Will

Song: 'Shout' - The Isley Brothers

What happened in rehearsals? This is one of the funniest battle rehearsals we have ever seen, ever. Will was babbling about how 'Shout' is one of his favourite songs "on the entire planet' ("Even if I was to take a spaceship out of space it would still be my favourite...

Taking New York: Our 8 favourite things about tonight's premiere
Look, nothing is going to replace Made in Chelsea in our hearts - obviously - but Taking New York seems to be doing a mighty fine job of filling the gap while we wait for more from Spenny, Jamie, Lucy, Louise et al.

The show - which, by the way, is so stylish - got off to a little bit of a slow start, but that's only to be expected when you're introducing a whole new cast of characters. By the end of the episode, we were hooked on the rows and the romantic awkwardness and the general drama, and we can't wait to find out what will happen next. So read on for our 8 favourite things this week...

1. The ridiculous modelling shoots.

Okay, so the one between Jamie and Ben at the beginning of the episode wasn't too ridiculous, but by the time Henry and Jamie were shirtless in...

Taking New York: 8 things you need to know about E4's new reality show
Ooh, we love a good reality show. And we're in luck - because while Towie and Made in Chelsea aren't back in our lives yet, we've got a brand new obsession. Taking New York, which starts on E4 tonight, follows a group of Brits living in New York and trying to pursue their dreams... (and their love lives obviously).

"We know the format works here, with Made in Chelsea and Towie," cast member James said. "People love those shows. And then gelling that with being in New York, it feels like shows like Sex and the City and Gossip Girl. So putting the two together will hopefully be a winner." Could that sound more up our street?

Anyway, we caught up with James and some of his fellow cast members - Sophie, Sumner, Georgina, Jamie, Megan and Henry - to find out more about what we can expect. Read on...

Made in Chelsea's Andy & Stevie on the NBA, Tinder and the show
The NBA is coming to London this week, as the Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks will be battling it out at the O2. And two people who are very excited about it are Made in Chelsea's Andy Jordan and Stevie Johnson... who just happen to support the Knicks and the Bucks respectively.

We caught up with the duo after they'd had their own (terrible) basketball face-off to chat the NBA, Tinder, nightmare dates, sticking on Made in Chelsea and much more...

Are you excited about the game?

Andy: "I can't wait. I'm a New York Knicks fan so I'm actually getting to watch my team this year, which is awesome. Even though they're not having a great season... But I feel like this could be the magic moment. They just lost to the Bucks at home at Madison Square Garden. So I'm a little bit concerned. But this is foreign turf.

Made in Chelsea: Getting fit with Spencer Matthews
Look, 2014 is almost over so we're starting to plan our New Year's resolutions - and a classic is obviously getting fit and healthy. Unfortunately, we hate exercise and healthy food. Luckily, though, we love Made in Chelsea - and the guys have released a fitness DVD, Mic: Fit, which is bound to be more entertaining than most.

To celebrate both the New Year and the DVD, we got the one and only Spencer Matthews on the phone to talk about getting healthy, his temptations, and his ideal workout soundtrack...

What makes the Made in Chelsea fitness DVD better than all of the other celebrity DVDs out there?

"I think it's quite fun. They're all very different workouts as well, which is nice, so there's variety there. And it also just goes to show that pretty much anyone can do it and you don't need any kit. You can do it...

Made in Chelsea spoofs Monty the Penguin in end of season trailer
Made in Chelsea have spoofed Monty the Penguin in their End of Season Party trailer.

The reality show shares its own take on the John Lewis advert, with Stevie Johnson taking on the role of famous Monty.

A tux-wearing Johnson is accompanied by Andy Jordan as they recreate scenes from the Christmas ad, but it isn't long before he starts longing for love.

No longer interested in playing rugby with Jordan, Johnson starts throwing baubles at Lucy Watson before spotting Stephanie Pratt and Josh Shepherd kissing in the street.

Jordan soon comes to the rescue though, and after rudely awaking his friend, offers him a gift in the shape of Oliver Proudlock.

Made In Chelsea's End of Season Party airs on Monday, December 29 at 9pm on E4.

Made in Chelsea: Are you cool or do you suck? 23 best bits
We think this week's Made in Chelsea may have introduced us to something very special indeed. History-making. Record-breaking. The first ever passive-aggressive high five. Who knew?

As well as all that hand clapping, though, there was plenty of other stuff to sink our teeth into - tears, cold stares, a fantastic bois' night out and much, much more. Read on for the 23 best bits from the episode...

1. The bit when... Sam accidentally called Alik his boyfriend.

"Honey, I'm home!" Yep, Alik was back in the UK this week - thank goodness - but to be honest, Sam seemed more excited about his return than Louise did.

"This feels a little bit more homey," Alik smiled in the way only Alik can smile. "I've got my girlfriend." "And Your Boyfriend," Sam squealed, before realising what he'd said.

"That was a bit awkward."

2. The bit when... Spencer gathered the bois.

Just Look At Him.

Next into custody is Gemma Collins, who after 56 seconds behind bars is already at breaking point.

The madness of prison gets to the star as she starts confessing to a range of odd crimes, including her love for Made in Chelsea.
