Shea Whigham & Carrie Coon Thriller ‘Lake George’ Lands International Rights Deal Ahead Of EFM

Exclusive: Premiere Entertainment Group has acquired international rights to the Shea Whigham (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning) and Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age) crime thriller Lake George.

Premiere will launch international sales this week at the European Film Market.

The neo-noir road movie follows an ex-con who is coerced by mobsters into executing a hit on a woman, but instead, the two misfits hatch a plan to steal money from the people who want her dead. Max Casella and Glenn Fleshler round out the lead cast.

Jeffrey Reiner directed the film from his original screenplay. Reiner also produced alongside Joey Oglesby, Cleta Ellington, and Bernie Stern. Michael Hillman and Brent Wilson served as executive producers.

The film was released in limited theaters and on digital in the U.S. on December 6 via Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, after its premiere at Tribeca.

The trailer has been released for Lake George. Lake George is a crime thriller about two people who end up on a road trip together, despite one of them having more nefarious intentions. The film features a leading cast including Shea Whigham, Carrie Coon, Max Casella, Ashley Fink, Glenn Fleshler, Troy Metcalf, Joey Oglesby, and Derk Phillips. It is written and directed by Jeffrey Reiner, and produced by Reiner, Cleta Elaine Ellington, Michael Hillman, Bennett LeBarre, Joey Oglesby, Tim Ogletree, David DeGrow Shotwell, Bernie Stern, Jessica To, and Brent Wilson.

Now, Magnolia Pictures has released the trailer for Lake George.

The trailer introduces ex-con Don (Wingham), who is put up by a crime boss named Armen (Fleshler) take care of Armen's problem. In this case, the problem in question is a woman named Phyllis, who Don is tasked to kill. After Don picks up Phyllis, he fidns that he cannot actually kill her.

Exclusive: Vertical has acquired North American rights to Parachute, the romantic drama marking the directorial debut of actress Brittany Snow (X), which won multiple awards in its debut at SXSW 2023, recognizing Snow and star Courtney Eaton (Yellowjackets). The film from Yale Productions, also starring Thomas Mann (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), is set to open in select theaters on April 5.

Californication and The X-Files star David Duchovny will star alongside Oakes Fegley (The Fabelmans, Pete’s Dragon, The War With Grandpa) and T.R. Knight (Grey’s Anatomy, The Flight Attendant) in Irving Franco’s Adam the First, which Archstone Entertainment will be introducing to buyers at the American Film Market.

Franco (Cheerleader) wrote and directed the film, which follows Adam, who, when his foster parents are suddenly murdered, sets out on a cross country adventure to track down a series of men who could be his estranged father, each one with a different life that could become his.
