Before Samara Weaving was running from an obsessive fan in the new film Borderline, she was running wild in this workplace terror starring The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun. In the 2017 black comedy film Mayhem, Weaving plays a woman infected by a rage-inducing virus and now looking for revenge.
Mayhem stars Yeun as Derek Cho, an ambitious lawyer who finds that he has quickly lost his moral compass when working with his firm. After successfully defending a client who committed murder under the influence of a virus that lowers inhibitions, Derek is fired from the firm when the fault of a mishandled case gets pinned on him. Before he can be escorted out, the building gets locked into quarantine when the virus is detected in the air. The newly infected Derek decides to get bloody revenge on those responsible for getting him fired. Joining in his mayhem is Melanie (Weaver...

Two previously released Bloody Disgusting titles have made their way to our Screambox streaming platform, one is a creepy found footage horror for those with a fear of clowns, and the other is an absolutely stunning A24-esque chiller reminiscent of The Witch.
Drawing comparisons to The Witch comes German gothic folk tale Hagazussa, which The Hollywood Reporter hailed as “a spellbinding audiovisual symphony” and earned a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes upon release.
Hagazussa, which has a stunning atmosphere mixed with brooding terror from start to finish, takes place in the Austrian Alps in the 15th century when people feared witches and ancient magic.
In the 15th Century in the remote Austrian Alps, the orphan Albrun (Celina Peter) grows up to be a simple goatherd living in solitude…and a marked woman. As a scapegoat of ancient myths and monstrous misogyny, Albrun (portrayed by Aleksandra Cwen as an adult) finds herself tormented by the local townsfolk,...

In 2019, the documentary of 80s horror In Search of Darkness became an instant hit with horror fans. Now, a beautiful coffee table style companion book is available and is a must-own for all fans of one of horror’s greatest eras. The book is a walk down the horror aisle of the best mom and pop video store in the heyday of VHS, featuring full color photos, poster art, insightful essays and more. More than just a nostalgic throwback, In Search of Darkness is the kind of book I wish I’d had back in my years as a burgeoning horror fan but is also satisfying for the film fanatic I have become in the years since.
The format is beautifully and simply laid out, with at least a dozen (usually more) movies from each year of the decade presented in order of release accompanied by informative and insightful essays...

Glenn Danzig (Verotika) brought his Vampire Spaghetti-Western Death Rider in the House of Vampires to select theaters back in 2021, but it’s been quite a while since we’ve heard a peep about the project. When will you actually be able to watch the movie?
Bloody Disgusting has learned this week that Cleopatra will be releasing Glenn Danzig’s Death Rider in the House of Vampires on DVD and Blu-ray sometime in December 2023!
You can pre-order your copy – various editions are available – right now.
Patrick Bromley wrote in his 2021 review for Bloody Disgusting, “Death Rider in the House of Vampires has all the charm of Verotika, and nearly all of its flaws, too. That’s probably damning praise, encouraging fans of the latter to seek out the former while scaring off those who found Danzig’s first film to be insufferable. I can’t fault either party for rushing out...

Glenn Danzig (Verotika) brought his Vampire Spaghetti-Western Death Rider in the House of Vampires to select theaters back in 2021, you may recall, but it’s been quite a while since we’ve heard a peep about the project. Screen Daily breaks the silence this week, revealing that Death Rider in the House of Vampires is coming to Cannes this month.
Screen Daily reports, “Vmi Worldwide has added action-horror feature Death Rider in the House of Vampires to its slate for the Cannes market.”
What does this mean? Well, it means that Danzig’s Death Rider in the House of Vampires will be going up for sale this month, which could bring us closer to a wide release. Beyond that limited theatrical release back in 2021, the film hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
Stay tuned for more as we learn it.

Blumhouse pumps out horror movies like they’re a fast food restaurant and occasionally one or two projects go completely under the radar.
One such film is Boogeyman Pop, a slasher by director Brad Michael Elmore that stars the late Bill Paxton’s son, James Paxton, alongside M.C. Gainey and José Julián.
In the film that’s set over the course of one summer weekend, a bat-wielding, masked killer in a rusted-out black Cadillac weaves in and out of three interlocking stories awash in sex, drugs, punk rock, black magic, and broken homes.
Here’s the kicker. Boogeyman Pop had its World Premiere at the Cinepocalypse Film Festival way back in 2018 followed by Popcorn Frights and has never screened again. It has yet to be released.
Patrick Bromley reviewed it for Bloody Disgusting, writing that it’s “disjointed and confused.”
Produced by Rogue One screenwriter Chris Weitz, the only footage is the below teaser,...

The final month of 2022 is already upon us, and December brings plenty of horror offerings beyond holiday fare- though expect some bloody fun there, too. Whether you’re in the mood to play catch-up on 2022 releases or looking for the deep cuts, this month has it all.
Here are ten noteworthy horror titles available for streaming in November 2022 on some of the most popular streaming services, along with when/where you can watch them.
Tobe Hooper’s Night Terrors – Screambox (December 1)
Robert Englund stars as the Marquis de Sade and his descendent in this strange, underseen feature by Tobe Hooper. Our own Patrick Bromley wrote about the film earlier this year. He wrote, “Hooper was a last-minute replacement for this offbeat horror movie, which attempts to bridge flashbacks of the Marquis de Sade with the modern-day story of a young woman (Zoe Trilling) who gets involved with a weird sex...

The late Tobe Hooper might best be known for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Poltergeist, but he directed more than a handful of classics, including the awesome 1993 horror Night Terrors, starring none other than A Nightmare on Elm Street‘s Robert Englund.
Patrick Bromley wrote about the film for Bloody Disgusting earlier this year, which follows a woman visiting her father in Egypt who becomes involved with Marquis De Sade’s (Robert Englund) descendant and his terrifying cult.
Patrick explains, “Hooper was a last-minute replacement for this offbeat horror movie, which attempts to bridge flashbacks of the Marquis de Sade with the modern-day story of a young woman (Zoe Trilling) who gets involved with a weird sex cult (led by Englund in the second of his dual roles).”
Night Terrors isn’t the first time Hooper and Englund worked together as they linked up on the pilot for “Freddy’s Nightmares...

In the wake of this past weekend’s prime time special, Variety has announced that longtime horror host Svengoolie is eyeing an expansion with a nationwide talent search!
The campaign has been titled “Spawn of Svengoolie,” and it looks like the plan is to find fans who can be woven into “Svengoolie’s expanded character universe.”
Svengoolie has been a horror host for over 40 years and the official horror host for MeTV for over 10 years, with more fans tuning in here in 2022 than ever before.
“I always say he’s the number one horror host you’ve never heard of,” Donna D’Alessandro, exec VP and head of content at Weigel Broadcasting, said in a statement.
D’Alessandro added, “The show grew 30 in two years, hitting about a million viewers every Saturday night. That to me was unbelievable statistic. A lot of the coastal cities are learning who Svengoolie is now.
