In addition to Ventimiglia, Kiernan Shipka and Michael Rooker also star in the latest installment of the espionage and intrigue franchise.

The Uncharted movie finally escaped development hell and has the rare distinction of being remembered as the first project from PlayStation Productions. At Sony's CES 2025 press conference (via Geoff Keighley), Asid Quizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, announced a Helldivers movie in development. Quizilbash stated: "Looking ahead as to what might come next, I'm excited to announce we are working with Sony Pictures on developing a film adaptation of our amazingly popular PlayStation game Helldivers 2." The Game Awards hit record viewership with its 2024 show on Dec. 12, which drew an estimated 154 million global livestreams. That’s up 31% over the 2023 show at 118 million livestreams.

Per the Game Awards, which marked its 10-year anniversary with the 2024 show, the 2024 viewership high was reached with streams across YouTube, Twitch, Steam, TikTok Live, X, Instagram Live, and Facebook. Additionally, show hit its global viewership milestone amid a record number of platforms streaming in China including Bilbili, Huya, Weibo, WeChat, Douyin, Zhihu, DouYu, Baidu, NetEase Cc, Tencent Video, Qq, Kuishou, HeyBox; in South Korea or Chzzk and Soop, and NicoNico in Japan.

Unlike most other high-profile awards shows, the indie event hosted by gaming industry star Geoff Keighley does not have an exclusive streaming deal with a network or streaming service.

The top winner out of the 2024 Game Awards was “Astro Bot” from Team Asobi and PlayStation, which won four awards, including Game of the Year.

Swen Vincke, the CEO of Larian Studios, took the stage at the Game Awards not only to accept an award but also to present one, the most prestigious of all: Game of the Year.

The biggest awards show for video games, The Game Awards 2024, has just wrapped up, giving many the honor of being recognized for their achievements in the industry over the past twelve months. This year, Tga 2024 gave out 30 awards over a large variety of categories, including Player's Choice and the biggest honor of Game of the Year. Geoff Keighley's annual celebration of gaming is one of the biggest events of the year in the gaming community, with several world premiere announcements and trailers intermixed during the award ceremony.

2024 has been another very good year for video games, with many incredible releases ranging across all genres. Even the nominees for the highly coveted Game of the Year award seem to cover a vast range from Astro Bot's family-friendly platforming, Balatro's roguelike game of cards, and even expansions and remakes such as Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

The 2024 Game Awards are in the books and a tiny little robot has come out on top of the big awards show.

Nominations for the 2024 Game Awards, which honor the year’s most innovative, unique and impactful story-driven narratives in the gaming industry, were announced Monday.

Leading the pack is the popular Japanese RPG adventure series Final Fantasy VII Rebirth with a total number of seven nominations. Following the critical success of Rebirth, released earlier this year in February, the third and final game in the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy is officially in active development. First reported by 4Gamer, the Japanese website revealed that during a recent appearance at the G-con 2024 convention in South Korea, Rebirth producer Yoshinori Kitase and director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that Square Enix hashed out the third game’s plot and overall concept, marking the pre-production finalization.

Developed by Team Asobi, the platformer has seen massive success over this short period, and fans now know just how beloved the title truly is.

Sony recently released sales data that showed not only the number of Astro Bot sales but also the user traits that provided fans with the knowledge that a whopping 37% of players were new users of the platform entirely.
