Chet Hanks' Running Point character, Travis Bugg, may not be real, but he is based on one of basketball's most electric athletes. 

The new Netflix comedy stars Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon, a prominent businesswoman who becomes the president of the professional Los Angeles Waves basketball team. 

Hudson stars alongside a stacked cast in the show, co-starring with Brenda Song, Marissa Reyes, and several actors playing athletes, including Chet Hanks as the wildcard Bugg.

For many, Netflix's new series, Running Point, will be the first time they come across the 21-year-old star of the stage and screen, Marissa Reyes. 

Reyes stars as Sofia in the new streaming comedy, appearing alongside A-list stars Kate Hudson and Brenda Song (who also recently appeared in the hit Shifting Gears series on ABC). 

Running Point takes a stab at the highly competitive world of sports management, following Hudson's Isla Gordon as she rapidly ascends to the president seat of a professional basketball team.

The star of NBC comedy Lopez vs. Lopez joins the previously announced cast of Brec Bassinger Elena Kampouris (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Dylan Walsh, Tony Pierce (The Bodyguard), Evan Ross (The Loneliest Boy in the World), Marissa Reyes (Ganymede), Teri Polo (Meet the Parents franchise) and Faye Dunaway.

Bassinger leads the coming-of-age thriller, the plot of which is under wraps. Kampouris plays a visiting relative who harbors a dark secret.

Mayan is an executive producer on “The Evilry”. Her character in the film is Aimee, who runs a spiritual bookstore with Faye Dunaway’s character Anastasia.

Dunaway’s Anastasia, a spiritualist in the town, acts as a bridge of enlightenment coming to the aid of Crystal (Bassinger) guiding her to the revelation behind her cousin (Kampouris) and her Dark Secret.

Dunaway has joined the cast of “The Evilry,” an indie horror film and supernatural thriller directed and written by Alexander Garcia, IndieWire has confirmed.

It was recently reported that Final Destination: Bloodlines star Brec Bassinger signed on to star in the film. Alexander Garcia will be directing from his own script, with principal photography set to begin in Louisiana next month. Bassinger will be joined in the cast by Elena Kampouris (Children of the Corn), Dylan Walsh (Superman & Lois), Marissa Reyes (Ganymede), Evan Ross (The Loneliest Boy in the World), Tony Pierce (The Bodyguard), and Teri Polo (the Meet the Parents franchise).

It is yet to be revealed what role Zane will be playing in the film. Incidentally, there also hasn’t been much announced by way of plot details, but sources were able to find out that the story involves a visiting relative, played by Kampouris, who is harboring a dark secret.

Plot: Three friends, thinking they’ve outgrown trick or treating, decide to spend the night locked inside a Halloween store. But their night of spook-filled fun soon turns to outlandish survival.

Review: Given the success of the recent Goosebumps films, it’s no surprise that we got a Spirit Halloween movie. Actually…yeah, it kind of is surprising because Goosebumps was based on a popular books series while Spirit Halloween is just a Halloween store that isn’t even open all year. Not only that, but they make the decision to set it in a Spirit Halloween itself, featuring a ton of the costumes and props that are on sale at the actual store. Oh, commercialism, you bastard.

As you probably suspected, this is a kid’s movie. So don’t go into this expecting some kind of circumvention of the genre. The production isn’t quite as “Straight to...

You have to suspend a hefty amount of disbelief in order to enjoy the kiddy horror pic “Spirit Halloween: The Movie” since, yes, it is a feature-length commercial for the Spirit Halloween chainstore. This lightly likable action-adventure advert rehashes the formulaic story beats that its filmmakers cribbed from a variety of acknowledged influences, including Amblin productions like “Gremlins” and “The Goonies.”

You might also think of Robert Zemeckis’s two Amblin movies, “Back to the Future” and “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” given the presence of Christopher Lloyd, who makes a brief appearance as a vengeful ghost who hopes to possess a new human body. (Lloyd otherwise delivers his lines off-camera as a voice actor.)

Unfortunately, screenwriter Billie Bates and first-time director David Poag don’t have a knack for snappy dialogue or a general sensitivity for child and/or amateurish acting, which inadvertently puts way too much strain on the movie’s younger performers.

Growing up, Halloween was a big deal. I mean, I still consider it a big deal. But there was something extra special about it as a kid, where everything seemed so magically spooky and fun. Where there was one night a year when I could wander around in the dark (yes, when I was a kid, we only went trick or treating at night, unlike now, when kids only show up at my house for candy before the sun sets) dressed as someone else. Where anything was possible. Where the sun went down blazing orange in a chilly sky. Where ghosts and monsters were suddenly real.

The Halloweens of my youth were also accompanied by a steady stream of junk-food Halloween specials that would come on TV every year. One of my favorites was the 1980s Disney short film "Mr. Boogedy," about a family that moves into a haunted house...

These next several weeks are going to be absolutely loaded with brand new horror, and this week alone brings 11 new movies to the table as we make our way into the month of October.

This week’s new releases include brand new theatrical horror as well as the sequel to a beloved Halloween favorite and even a new take on a classic TV series from an unlikely source.

The store becomes a movie with Spirit Halloween: The Movie this Halloween season, and today Bloody Disgusting is debuting the second trailer along with some new information.

Bloody Disgusting has learned that the film will have a limited theatrical release beginning September 30, as well as special event screenings taking place that same weekend at the Nashville Film Festival and Popcorn Frights Wicked Weekend in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.

The film will be released on all VOD platforms on October 11 followed by DVD and soundtrack releases later that month.

Spooky season is still six months away but the folks behind the “Spirit Halloween” movie – yes, the one based on the ubiquitous October pop-up store, which Variety exclusively revealed last month – have given Variety an exclusive sneak peek at the first images of Christopher Lloyd and Rachael Leigh Cook on set as well as more plot details.

In “Spirit Halloween,” Lloyd (best known as Doc Brown in “Back to the Future”) plays wealthy land developer Alec Windsor. Decades ago, one Halloween night, Windsor disappeared without a trace and ever since his cursed spirit is said to haunt the town each year on October 31 for one hour.

Meanwhile Cook (“He’s All That”) plays Sue, who has recently remarried after her husband passed away. When a Spirit Halloween store pops up in an abandoned strip mall, Sue’s teenage son Jake and his friends decide to spend the night there for a dare.

If, like me, one of your favorite things to do each fall is to find and visit your local Spirit Halloween store, then you also might be excited to hear that Strike Back Studios and Hideout Pictures have finished principal photography on a Spirit Halloween movie written by Billie Bates, directed by David Poag, and featuring a cast that includes Christopher Lloyd and Rachael Leigh Cook.

The tagline reads “When a new Spirit Halloween store appears in a deserted strip mall, three middle-school friends who think they’ve outgrown trick-or-treating make a dare to spend the night locked inside the store Halloween night,” reads the logline. “But they soon find out that the store is haunted by an angry evil spirit who has possessed the creepy animatronic characters. The kids embark on a thrilling and spooky adventure in order to survive the night and avoid becoming possessed themselves.”

Spirit Halloween is the iconic costume and prop store with 1,425 locations across North America, and has teamed with Strike Back Studios, Hideout Pictures and Particular Crowd.

Spirit Halloween, the iconic costume and prop store with 1,425 locations across North America, has teamed with Strike Back Studios, Hideout Pictures and Particular Crowd for a feature-length family movie called, you guessed it, “Spirit Halloween.”

Billed as a family/kids adventure movie, the project stars “Back to the Future’s” Christopher Lloyd and “She’s All That” star Rachael Leigh Cook, as well as some new faces.

Raven's Home is returning to Disney Channel for its fifth season next month and the cable channel has released a trailer. Starring Raven-Symoné and Ryan Brown, the new season follows Raven and her son as they return home to San Francisco to take care of her father after a heart attack. Other cast members include Rondell Sheridan, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Felix Avitia, Emmy Liu-Wang, Adrienne Bailon-Houghton, and Marissa Reyes.
