Interview with Actor Justin Berti – Read about His Latest Movies and His Advice on Yoga Practice
Image
In time for the release of the movie ‘Divorce Bait‘ we have interviewed Justin Berti. Read about his role in the comedy movie and the wise advice on stretching:

I would like to start off, if you don’t mind, and having read your bio, by asking you about something that is not related to movies – we will get to that part for sure – I am curious, who gave you the nickname ‘The Yoganator’?

I gave myself that nickname. I was hired as a yoga instructor at a dance studio in Tokyo, Japan. For the studio opening, each teacher needed to do a performance to show off their classes. I came out fully dressed in a white jacket and white jeans with two yoga mats attached to my back, Bono-like sunglasses, and resistance bands in my hands, and I moved like a robot to the theme song of the movie The Terminator.

For Father’s Day: Top 40 Best TV Dads
Image
They can be goofy. They can be cool. They can be stern. They can be wise. In the 60 years since programs like “Father Knows Best” and “Leave It to Beaver” dominated the airwaves, television dads have changed some, but continue to bring us some of television’s funniest and most poignant moments.

See‘The Brady Bunch’: 25 greatest episodes ranked worst to best

Over the years, dads like Ward Cleaver (“Leave it to Beaver”), Mike Brady (“The Brady Bunch”) and Howard Cunningham (“Happy Days”) have dispensed sound advice and doled out stern but gentle discipline when needed. New dads such as Ricky Ricardo (“I Love Lucy”) and Jack Pearson (“This Is Us”) have shown the joy and wonderment of being a new parent, and the various dilemmas all parents face when raising young children. Andy Taylor (“The Andy Griffith Show”), Steve Douglas (“My Three Sons”) and Danny Tanner (“Full House...

Chris Pratt, Anna Faris, and ‘Mom’: The Downsides of Giving Private Lives a Public Face
Allison Janney and Anna Faris in Mom (2013)
Fans of CBS comedy “Mom” follow Anna Faris’ character, single mother Christy, while she struggles with alcohol, drug, and gambling addictions. In real life, Faris’ fans are following the popular actress as she faces a personal challenge: Her breakup with husband Chris Pratt.

Blurring fact and fiction is nothing new in Hollywood. Actors frequently play versions of themselves – in television, that goes all the way back to Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, who re-created their couple dynamic as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo on “I Love Lucy,” and the Nelson family, who played some version of themselves on “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.”

Of course, that was before social media further eroded the barrier between stars and fans. Tabloids and celebrity weeklies aside, personal lives could still be managed out of public eye. Today, social media is an...

Lucille Ball movie with Cate Blanchett pressing ahead
David Crow Aug 8, 2017

Amazon Studios will produce a movie about Lucille Ball of I Love Lucy fame with Cate Blanchett and Aaron Sorkin attached.

Amazon Studios is really starting to leave its mark on moviemaking in 2017. Just this year, they produced The Lost City Of Z and The Big Sick - and they’re already looking toward the future. Generally speaking, casting a screen legend like Cate Blanchett as another one named Lucille Ball seems like a smart bet.

Deadline broke the news that Amazon Studios has acquired the film rights to Lucy And Desi, a long simmering film production that has Blanchett attached to play Ball, the star of I Love Lucy. The project has long been of interest, not least of all because in addition to its Oscar winning star, it also has a screenplay by another Oscar winner, Aaron Sorkin of The Social Network, Moneyball, and Steve Jobs fame.

The Top 25 Funniest Actors of All Time
Who are the funniest, wackiest, cleverest, wittiest comic actors in the history of film and television? Take a look at our list and see who we came up with.

The top 25 laugh-getters…

#25…George Carlin: Probably the best stand-up comedian of all-time. He brilliantly satirized American culture, mixing his liberal social commentary with an often unapologetically coarse and dirty style of language. His penchant for obscenities was most evident in his trademark routine “Seven words you can never say on television”. No one was better at mocking the excesses of American culture than Carlin.

#24…Robin Williams: He had a manic energy and great improvisational skills. His hyper, free-form style inspired many comedians to follow, such as Jim Carrey. He shot to fame in the TV series Mork & Mindy, before breaking away to very successful movie career, appearing in films like Good Morning Vietnam, The World According to Garp, Mrs. Doubtfire and Popeye.

Find Out Which Classic Sitcom Duo Wilmer Valderrama Is Eying for a Future Reunion with That '70s Show Costar Mila Kunis
Desi Arnaz C. 1949
Fez and Jackie together again? Yes please!

Among his many roles, Wilmer Valderrama has his eyes set on one in particular ... but it requires a special partner.

"I want to play Desi Arnaz," Valderrama, 35, said recently at the Television Critics' Association press tour. "I am having conversations with a number of people to hopefully make that real."

The iconic Desi Arnaz, best remembered as Ricky Ricardo from I Love Lucy, needs a leading lady next to him. Which brings us to the most important question: Who would play his Lucy?

"I gotta tell you, there are very few actresses, and not,...

Joss Whedon trashes Trump, dumps on Deen at Comic-Con
Donald Trump
If an election was held today (or probably any other year), Joss Whedon would be elected president (or perhaps Vice President, behind Jennifer Lawrence) of Comic-Con. The outspoken writer/director/producer took a shot at presidential candidate Donald Trump while moderating a panel for Comedy Central’s “Another Period” yesterday (July 9) at the convention. Whedon was on-hand discussing the show, which is a mix of “Keeping up with the Kardashians” and “Downton Abbey.” It stars Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome as the Bellacourt sisters. Whedon says that the show ”makes us laugh but it makes us think and it reminds us of the universal truth: that rich white people are f—ing insane. It's obviously a fantasy and something we can all laugh at, because those days are all over — and then Donald Trump says something. I suspect he may be a Bellacourt." But Whedon’s barbs didn’t stop there.

Paula Deen: Still Cookin' Up Bad Ideas
Paula Deen
Anyone know what Paula Deen has been up to lately? I mean besides her ongoing mission to perfect the world's first all-butter steak hoagie. Let's check in on her Twitter feed and see what she's doing.   Oh no? Oh yeah. That's Paula Deen as Lucille Ball. But who's that next to her? Why, that's her son Bobby. As Dezi Arnaz aka Ricky Ricardo. In brown face. This is exactly the kind of thing someone who recently had to apologize for racially insensitive comments should post. Exactly. Nailed it. I mean, does she really have some "esplaining" to do? Because that would imply this behavior is a surprise. The tweet was taken down shortly after the internet started loudly hissing...

Paula Deen Slammed For Son Bobby’s “Brownface” Photo
Two years ago she almost lost everything over a 20-year-old deposition in which she used the “n” word and now Paula Deen is back in the hot seat again.

The 68-year-old celebrity chef posted a photo via Twitter of herself dressed as Lucille Ball on Tuesday (July 7), and unfortunately that same snapshot included Paula’s son Bobby Deen wearing brown face paint and posing as Desi Arnaz’s character Ricky Ricardo.

Of course, it took only minutes for critics to begin weighing in, posting messages like, “Paula, *you* have a lot of esplainin’ to do,” “Is that Hispanic version of blackface? Lord… she’ll never learn… f*ckin batsh*t,” and, “you do realize that brown face is not ok either right?” Ms. Deen has since removed the photo.

Paula Deen Tweets Old Picture of Her Son Bobby in Brownface, Fires Social Media Manager
Paula Deen
Paula Deen is back in hot water after her latest tweet. Early Tuesday morning, the former Food Network star posted (and subsequently deleted) and 2011 image showing her dressed up as Lucille Ball's character from I Love Lucy alongside her son, Bobby Deen, who is in costume as Desi Arnaz's role of Ricky Ricardo. And while Paula is wearing a red wig to emulate Lucy's signature flaming hair, her son is shown with brown face paint to depict the Cuban-American actor. Shortly after posting the image, many commented on Paula's page that the tweet was insensitive and racist, at best. Her rep explained this morning's tweet to E! News, saying, "Paula Deen's Social Media Manager...

8 Reasons Why We Still Love 'I Love Lucy'
This Sunday's "I Love Lucy Superstar Special" on CBS may just be an elaborate repackaging of two 60-year-old black-and-white sitcom episodes, now meticulously colorized and shown back-to-back without a pause. But anything Lucy-related remains a gold mine for CBS, even six decades later, and the May 17 special will probably not be an exception.

The two "I Love Lucy" episodes show a couple of Lucy Ricardo's (Lucille Ball) typically frustrating brushes with fame. In "L.A. at Last!", Lucy's bandleader husband Ricky (Desi Arnaz) is cast in a movie, which means a Hollywood road trip for the Ricardos and their friends Ethel and Fred Mertz (Vivian Vance and William Frawley). Lucy and Ricky each make the acquaintance of movie icon William Holden, playing himself, and gamely taking a pie in the face. (The colorized version CBS is airing contains footage not seen on TV since the episode first aired 60 years ago.

Hot Pursuit (2015) – The Review
The superheroes started the Summer with a bang (and a pow and lotsa’ crashes) last Friday, so it’s now time for what is turning out to be another warm weather cinema staple: the female-driven, often raunchy comedy, which can probably be traced back to the surprise smash of 2011, Bridesmaids. Its breakout star, Melissa McCarthy, then became the unofficial queen of Summer R-rated gagfests with The Heat and Tammy. So, is this the 2015 model Mm comedy? Nope, we’ve got a few weeks to go before she reteams with director Paul Feig for Spy (also to premiere shortly is the feature film debut of cable TV firebrand Amy Schumer). This is an attempted funny flick that riffs on one of her previous hits. It’s an action-cop-buddy-comedy which pairs an Oscar-winning actress (like Sandra Bullock in The Heat) with funny lady mostly known for her broadcast TV work (Melissa still...

Nashville Recap: Pregnant Pause
Ricardo Cordero
Dear Hayden, Let me start this letter by saying congratulations on the birth of your daughter! I’m sure you and your giant will be wonderful parents. Also, from a strictly scientific perspective, I can’t wait to see how tall your little blessing will grow up to be. But if it’s not too much to ask: Can you hold off on extending your family for a few more years? Two babies at once is just chaos! Twice the diapers! Twice the drool! And, oy, the lack of sleep! Girl, do not do that to yourself! Also, and obviously this is strictly secondary (I wasn’t even going to mention it), but I really, really need Juliette to be kicking ass and taking names again, not lying in bed in her jammies, hidden under the world’s largest comforter, causing Avery to roll his eyes Ricky Ricardo–style (Ay,...

'Dancing With The Stars' Recap: Janel Parish & Val Chmerkovskiy Top Leaderboard; Michael Waltrip Exits
Dancing with the Stars celebrated its Dynamic Duos night on Monday with the seven remaining couples fighting to move forward.

Dancing With The Stars Recap

Lea Thompson and Artem Chigvintsev took on the personas of Bonnie and Clyde in a jazz routine. Despite the promise of the concept and Lea’s dancing chops, the routine somehow fell flat. Len Goodman didn’t think Lea took enough risks on the dance floor, while Julianne Hough took issue with Chigvintsev’s “dated” choreography. Overall, it was a capable but disappointing performance. Scores: 8+8+8+8=32

Michael Waltrip, who has defied the odds by remaining on the show into week 8, danced a foxtrot with Emma Slater. As the Tarzan to Emma’s Jane, Michael once again struggled to hit all of the moves in the choreography. The judges attempted to go easy on the Nascar driver during their remarks, but their true feelings about the performance came out in their scores.

Cletus, Frank Grimes, and Comic Book Guy: Hank Azaria on 5 of His Many Many Simpsons Voices
Ricardo Cordero
Over the course of 25 seasons, Hank Azaria has voiced approximately 8,000 different characters on The Simpsons. (We could be off by a few.) You know him as Moe, or Chief Wiggum, or Apu, or Dr. Frink, or the Sea Captain, or Superintendent Chalmers, or, according to the Simpsons Wiki, “Hey Hey Guy.” Azaria probably doesn’t remember voicing that long-forgotten party animal, but otherwise, the Queens-born actor, who’s been a welcome addition to Showtime’s Ray Donovan this season, has a near-encyclopedic memory of his many characters. We recently had the chance to speak to him about five of them.Dr. Nick RivieraAzaria: Dr. Nick was this quack doctor that appeared in a very early script, and he definitely had this thick Latin accent, so my mind just went to, it would be really funny to have him sound like Ricky Ricardo. He’s basically a bad Ricky Ricardo, Desi Arnaz impression.

Lucille Ball in I Love Lucy (1951)
Summer sitcom rewind: 'I Love Lucy' - 'Job Switching'
Lucille Ball in I Love Lucy (1951)
We're continuing this periodic summer project where we revisit classic sitcom episode. This week we're going waaaay back to the 1950s for one of the most famous television half hours of them all: "Job Switching," from "I Love Lucy" season 2, coming up just as soon as I show you the creases on these silk stockings... "Job Switching," which first aired in 1952, is by far going to be the oldest episode we do in this series (unless "The Honeymooners" magically starts streaming before the summer is out), and I'm going to be very curious for your reactions to it. Ken Levine occasionally will do posts where he asks his readers what they think of vintage sitcom episodes, and the reaction tends to be mixed, and leaning more towards negative among people who didn't grow up in one of the previous peak periods for multi-cam comedy. In terms of sitcoms that have...

The underappreciated film performances of Jim Carrey
With a potential comeback on the cards for Jim Carrey, Rob looks through the hidden gems of his career.

Feature

Alrighty then. To get straight to the point – Jim Carrey’s career hasn’t been up to much lately has it? Certainly as leading man, at least. His last big-hitter was 2009’s A Christmas Carol, while his most recent leading role was 2011’s Mr Popper’s Penguins.

His latest performance outside of cameos was an interesting part in Kick Ass 2 though, a promising turn which left many audience-members wanting more from his character. With the trailer dropping recently for Dumb And Dumber To as well, the hints of a comeback for the iconic performer have continued to grow.

There’s been more positivity towards Dumb And Dumber To in comments than we might have expected (although this welcoming response was far from unanimous), which is undeniably a positive sign for the fledgling star.

“For Mature Audiences Only”: treasured TV oldsters of yesteryear
Some may say that television hasn’t been too good to senior citizens in terms of their stereotypical depictions. Regardless of the unflattering portrayals there had been some memorable oldsters (in this case over 60) that have given us equal shares of both laughs and cries. In “For Mature Audiences Only”, let’s take a look at some of the more mature characterizations that had an impact on our daily doses of entertainment on the glorious boob tube.

Instead of doing a typical top ten or top twenty listing let’s go in between with a top fifteen selection, shall we? The “For Mature Audiences Only” choices are not necessarily a tasting that everyone will agree on. Perhaps you have your own preferences that were omitted or something that you feel should be added? Anyway, here are the candidates in alphabetical order…

Now for our pop cultural Pepto Bismol personalities:

That Was Gay: ‘The Boys in the Band’
In 1973, William Friedkin directed The Exorcist and frightened a generation, creating a horror movie classic. Three years earlier, before The French Connection launched Friedkin onto the A-list, he directed The Boys in the Band, an adaptation of an off-Broadway play about a group of gay men at a birthday party. The Boys in the Band is at least as much a horror movie as The Exorcist. Instead of demonic possession, the terror comes from the characters’ palpable hatred for themselves and each other, thinly disguised as friendship. The villain is homosexuality itself and society’s reaction to it, which slowly turn these men into delusional, self-pitying, hateful monsters.

I’m really struggling to figure out what Friedkin and screenwriter (and the original playwright) Mart Crowley wanted audiences to feel about these characters. The only two emotions I can muster up are pity and disgust. Based on the play’s astonishing...

How 'Seinfeld' Revolutionized The Sitcom
"Sitcom: A History in 24 Episodes from 'I Love Lucy' to 'Community,'" the new book from critic and author Saul Austerlitz ("Another Fine Mess: A History of American Film Comedy") officially hits shelves tomorrow, March 1st, courtesy of the Chicago Review Press. Appealing to TV lovers, comedy enthusiasts and pop culture devotees, the book finds Austerlitz examining the critically underappreciated but eternally popular television genre, beginning with housewife Lucy and working husband Ricky Ricardo and going through to the postmodernism of Dan Harmon's community college show. Austerlitz examines how the sitcom has evolved through 24 episode from 24 pivotal series, include "22 Short Films About Springfield" from "The Simpsons," "Chuckles Bites the Dust" from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and more. Here’s a new red band trailer for Luc Besson‘s mafia action-comedy,The Family (a.k.a. Malavita). Everybody loves Robert De Niro to move back in the world of gangsters. The Family Director's Cut Red Band Trailer
Paul Blake (Robert De Niro) gets started on his memoirs, recounting some of his more gruesome killings in a "director's cut" red band trailer for The Family. Before relocating to France, Paul Blake was Giovanni Manzoni, a mafia boss who committed the cardinal sin of snitching, which landed him in the witness relocation program. Random Acts of Music From Non-Musical Movies
Some of the greatest musical moments don’t even come from musicals, did you know that? Below you will find a list of some of my favorite random acts of music found in non-musical movies.

You’ve seen such moments in movies like My Best Friends Wedding [watch the scene] where a table of strangers will start singing (and they all know the words obviously). A less annoying example would be in The Big Chill where a group of friends cleans up the kitchen with a little help from The Temptations [watch the scene]. Did you notice that sometimes the music doesn’t even come from a source, it’s just there!

The random parades, dance floor choreography and romantic serenades, it’s just movie magic sometimes. My selection below of Random Acts of Music From Non-Musical Movies are some of my favorites, enjoy and comment or join us on Facebook and Twitter for a chin wag.

The Family Featurette and Three Clips
Michelle Pfeiffer at an event for Stardust, le mystère de l'étoile (2007)
Every family needs a matriarch, and Michelle Pfeiffer's Maggie Blake is certainly one unconventional mother, as shown in a brand new featurette for their upcoming film The Family. The couple relocates their family to a sleepy town in France under the Witness Protection Program after ex-Mafia boss Fred snitches on the mob. In addition, the studio has also released three clips from this dark action comedy, opening in theaters nationwide on September 13th.

The Family comes to theaters September 20th, 2013 and stars Robert De Niro, Tommy Lee Jones, Michelle Pfeiffer, Dianna Agron, Ricardo Cordero, Dominic Chianese, Domenick Lombardozzi, Vincent Pastore.

Mistresses Review: From Curious to Kinky
From curious to kinky, Mistresses finally returned and I couldn't be happier the soapy, sexy drama was back. There have been far to few "Indecent Proposals" and Omg! moments on my TV these last few weeks.

Shall we start with the kinky?

Because once you've had a torrid affair with your terminally ill patient, kinky is one of the few appropriate words for bedding his son whose been stalking you. Karen keeps lamenting her innocence but the girl is just all kinds of messed up. Not to mention she's hardly innocent.

Let's recap: She prescribed her married lover/patient lethal doses of morphine. She later destroyed her medical records to cover her tracks. Then she wrote up false patient notes when said married lover's wife called her out.

Neither Karen nor Elizabeth Grey are innocents, but where Elizabeth is diabolical enough to have knocked off her cheating hubby, Karen is...

Mistresses Recap: Come as You Are…As a Friend, as an Old Enemy
O! M! Gooooooood!

Wait, no, that was bad! Bad, I tell ya! I mean, just about everybody on this week’s Mistresses went completely cray-cray: Karen got drrrty (hold the “i” and add two extra r’s) with the son of her deceased former patient/lover — or, from a different perspective, the son of the crazy beyotch who’s trying to turn her existence into a Lifetime innocent-woman-behind-bars flick. Richard unleashed his inner caveman (and not in the exciting kind of way that leaves April marking down the price on her showroom furniture). And Savi casually let Dom into her house not once,...

Lucille Ball
Wow: A Rare Look Inside Lucille Ball's Home
Lucille Ball
Today, we're celebrating Lucille Ball's birthday with a look back at an adorable house tour featuring her and husband Desi Arnaz, circa mid-1950s. (We almost typed "Ricky Ricardo.") The couple was photographed at home doing all the normal couple things: Frolicking by the pool, playing cards, looking at each other through newspapers. You know, the usual. We walked away wondering just why we don't play cards anymore -- and how we can incorporate an upright piano in our house .

What do you think of this vintage peek inside Desi Arnaz & Lucille Ball's home life?

The Family International Trailer
Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Dianna Agron, and John D'Leo in Malavita (2013)
Moving to another country can take its toll on a family, especially a mafia clan from New York trying to start a new life in France, as seen in the latest international trailer for The Family, which is still going by Malavita overseas. The Manzoni family (Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, John D'Leo and Dianna Agron) don't exactly blend into their surroundings very well, as they can't quite seem to let go of their violent past. Check out the latest footage from director Luc Besson's drama, also starring Tommy Lee Jones, that has a much darker tone than the first trailer released last month.

The Family comes to theaters September 20th, 2013 and stars Robert De Niro, Tommy Lee Jones, Michelle Pfeiffer, Dianna Agron, Ricardo Cordero, Dominic Chianese, Domenick Lombardozzi, Vincent Pastore. The film is directed by Luc Besson.

Robert De Niro & Michelle Pfeiffer in Luc Besson's 'The Family' Trailer
"Let's talk about the complaints I have received..." Relativity has unleashed the first trailer for Luc Besson's The Family (what a boring title), previously Malavita, starring Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer as a mafia family relocated to France. The rest of the cast in this action comedy includes Dianna Agron & Joseph Perrino as their kids, plus Tommy Lee Jones, Ricardo Cordero and Jon Freda. This almost seems like Taken meets Red meets every other double-agent spy comedy from Hollywood in recent years, but it looks fun. I usually like everything Besson directs, even if it's more ridiculous French action. Enjoy! Here's the first official trailer for Luc Besson's The Family, originally from Yahoo: The darkly comedic action film The Family is about the Manzonis, a notorious mafia family relocated to Normandy, France under the witness protection program. While they do their best to fit in, old habits...

Fallen Idol: Lazaro Arbos (American Idol Exit Interview)
Lazaro Arbos may not have won American Idol (TV), but he did win America's heart. With his inspiring story, Ricky Ricardo looks, and gentle nature, the Cuban-born, Florida-bred singer scored high marks with viewers early on. Despite some obstacles in his path, most would agree that "Laz" has come a long way from Chicago where he first auditioned for the show last fall. Lazaro suffers from a severe stutter that has plagued him since the age of six. Despite extensive speech and language therapy, the 22-year-old continues to struggle with this condition while speaking. He stunned judges at his audition, however, when all evidence of the stutter disappeared once he began singing "Bridge Over Troubled Water." It was then that his journey began, leading him up to a sixth place finish in the Season 12 competition. His eventual elimination on last week's show did not come as a big surprise, as...

TV’s All-Time Top 10 Secondary Couples
By Carson Blackwelder

Television Contributor

***

In the world of TV, love dictates all.

All viewers have their favorite couples from past and present: From Lucy (Lucille Ball) and Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz) to Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), on-screen romances fill fan blogs and magazines.

But what about those secondary characters and their budding relationships that fly under the radar? Some of the best TV relationships have been those of sidekick characters or best friends, and it’s often their relationships that are more endearing than those of primary characters.

Here’s my list of the top 10 secondary TV couples and the adorable moments that make them so great:

10. Woody Boyd and Kelly Gaines (NBC’s Cheers)

Kicking off the list is the prime example of how opposites attract.

Woody Boyd (Woody Harrelson) and Kelly Gaines (Jackie Swanson) exemplified this by coming from vastly different backgrounds on NBC’s hit Cheers.

The hour-long NBC special, which premieres on Mon., Dec. 3 at 10 p.m. Est, will feature a duet with Shelton's mom, Dorothy Shackleford.

Honeymoon period ends in Supernatural Season 8 Episode 5: ‘Blood Brothers’
“I can see you two have a lot to talk about.” – Benny

So what happened while Dean (Jensen Ackles) was in Purgatory? Throughout the past few weeks, we saw a lot of running, a lot of killing but not much in the way of story.

In “Blood Brothers,” we got our first real morsel of information that will pave the way for the next few episodes of Supernatural. We knew that Benny (Ty Olsson) needed a human host in Dean to escape from Purgatory. Dean “promised” to help Benny escape, if Benny showed him the exit from this demonic world between worlds. However, once Dean got out of Purgatory, the eldest Winchester didn’t have to keep his promise. We’ve seen Dean make promises with supernatural entities before, only to later kill them. For instance, in Supernatural Season 7, Dean killed Sam’s (Jared Padalecki) childhood friend Amy (Jewel Staite...
