Season 23 of American Idol continued the audition phase on Sunday night as judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan traveled to New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville to find music's next superstar. The two-hour episode aired Sunday, March 23 (8 p.m. Et/Pt) with Ryan Seacrest hosting.

The night's most memorable moment belonged to Freddie McClendon, the 19-year-old son of Davis McClendon, a 46-year-old father of three who was murdered in 2023. "One of my favorite memories — I was around 15 years old and my dad took me to Nashville for the first time," Freddie said prior to his audition. A big night out for Amy Robach with her boyfriend, T.J. Holmes, gave the couple a “chaotic” and “humbling” experience.

The former Good Morning America and GMA3 co-stars are now full-time podcast hosts with the Amy and T.J. Podcast on iHeartRadio.

They debuted the podcast over a year ago, following their exit from ABC News as co-hosts of GMA3.

In one recent episode, the couple shared their raw and emotional reactions to the recent layoffs at GMA and GMA3.

Previous rumors from insiders suggested that individuals behind the scenes blamed Amy and T.J. for GMA3’s decline because, since their departures, no other co-hosts could match their chemistry.

They’ve continued dating since leaving ABC News after news of the GMA3 co-host’s private relationship became public.

Due to their association with iHeart, they recently attended the 2025 iHeart Music Awards, which featured plenty of significant stars stepping into the spotlight.

While there were dozens of categories for the awards show, only a handful of them were actually given out during the live show, which took place on Monday (March 17) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

LL Cool J hosted the show and there were appearances from major stars like Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Mariah Carey, Gracie Abrams, Bad Bunny, and more.

Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen were tied for the most nominations this year with 10 nominations each, but neither attended the show.

On a chilly east London evening at the 2025 Brit Awards, U.S. native Sabrina Carpenter opened the night flanked by the King’s Guard.

As always, the “Short n’ Sweet” star dazzled with a sparkling corset bodysuit, impeccable vocals and salacious dance moves (so salacious, in fact, that viewers threatened to complain to the country’s communications regular, Ofcom). Renditions of Espresso and Bed Chem were aptly anglicized by giant union jacks cascading either side of the O2 Arena stage.

The Hollywood Reporter was seated at the U.K.’s biggest music awards show. Later on in the night, Carpenter received the Brits’ first-ever global success award. “In a very primarily tea-drinking country you guys streamed the shit out of Espresso,” she laughed. “And you’ve really understood my dry sense of humor because your sense of humor is so dry. So, I love y’all more than you even understand.

The 2025 Grammys were a bit different. Alicia Keys is championing diversity initiatives as her work is recognized at the 67th Grammy Awards.

After winning the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at Sunday’s awards show, Keys shined a light on other female music producers and called for more platforms for diverse voices.

“This is not the time to shut down the diversity of voices,” said Keys. “We’ve seen on this stage talented, hardworking people from different backgrounds with different points of view, and it changes the game. Dei is not a threat, it’s a gift.”

After telling The New York Times in 2021 that he would no longer allow his label to submit him to the awards show, the Recording Academy welcomed the 4x Grammy winner for a surprise performance during the 67th Grammy Awards.

Earlier in the night, Billie Eilish and Finneas hit the stage to perform their Grammy-nominated track “Birds of a Feather” with a set inspired by the mountains of California.

Chappell Roan took home the highly anticipated best new artist award at the 2025 Grammys, and she used her win to highlight the treatment of developing artists in the music industry.

Victoria Monet, the 2024 winner of the category, returned to the Grammy stage to announce Roan as this year’s winner. The “Hot to Go!” singer-songwriter thanked her fellow nominees, “whose music got me through this past year.” Roan brought a notebook to the stage to deliver remarks she said she had always told herself she would say if she were ever to find herself in this position.

Billie Eilish delivered a heartfelt performance of “Birds of a Feather” while subtly paying homage to Los Angeles at the 2025 Grammys.

The Grammy winner began her set alongside her brother and longtime collaborator Finneas in front of a scenic mountain landscape, which appeared to mimic the canyons of her native home. Throughout the opening performance, images of the brother-sister duo flashed on the screen as she belted the lyrics of the track that garnered three varying nominations.

“I love you L.A.,” Eilish said at the end of the first Grammys performance of the night. Eilish took the stage at the 2025 Grammys mere days after she performed at the FireAid wildfire benefit concert on Thursday, where she further paid tribute to L.A. amid the devastating wildfires.

Midway through an interview with the AP, the Grammy winner was cut off to interview the “Good Luck, Babe” singer.

As Babyface was talking to reporters, one of the reporters noticed Chappell Roan was behind them, waiting to get interviews. The reporter calls out the “Hot To Go” singer by name a couple of times, and Babyface turns around and tells the reporters, “You guys want to… go do that.”

Babyface gives the microphone back to the reporters while they apologize to him and greet Chappell Roan.

Many fans on social media have dinged the moment as unprofessional and disrespectful to Babyface.
