And it’s not a trend that will soon disappear, if there’s any indication from buzzy shows like the upcoming “Harry Potter” TV series on HBO and the second season of Netflix’s “Wednesday.”

But our historical depictions of witches and interpretations of the pagan beliefs are both steeped in arts and culture. And this means they come with good, bad and even conflicting tropes. When developing a TV show, it’s often up to the creators and their creative teams to decide which way something wiccan is coming for their projects.

AMC Networks presented a panel at the Atx TV Festival featuring executive producers from all three series within its Anne Rice Immortal Universe, giving attendees a look inside the interconnected, supernatural world of Anne Rice on AMC and AMC+, sharing production and casting updates and a first look at the newest series in the expanding Universe, Anne Rice’s Talamasca.

The panel, “Vampires, Witches, and Other Secret Societies: Inside AMC’s Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe,” featured executive producer Mark Johnson, who oversees the Universe for AMC Networks, and showrunners and executive producers Rolin Jones (Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire) and John Lee Hancock and Mark Lafferty (Anne Rice’s Talamasca), as well as AMC Networks’ President of Entertainment and AMC Studios, Dan McDermott.

The Mayfair Witches season 2 finale, "Into the Woods," certainly saw a lot go down. There was a big and major death, a key character is leaving (we think?), and Rowan has now been changed, possibly forever. As far as finales go, I think it was a really good one! So is there more to come?

At the time of this writing, AMC has not revealed whether a Mayfair Witches season 3 is happening. The Anne Rice series has been a bit hit or miss with fans, especially those who have read the author's books and can't help compare the novel to the adaptation. I do agree that the series is messy and need some work if it does continue.

For Rowan and the other Mayfair witches, the events of the AMC series’ season two finale signal that the game is on, says showrunner Esta Spalding.

As fans saw on Sunday night, with the help of Ciprien (Tongayi Chirisa) and others, Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) succeeds in taking down the Scottish Mayfairs — headed up by Cortland’s (Harry Hamlin) brother Ian (Ian Pirie) — after they kill Lasher (Jack Huston) for the power of his blood. While Rowan is able to save Lasher, once in the fight to stop Julien, the other Mayfairs and save his children with Emaleth (Henessi Schmidt), he is felled.

In the lead up to his death, Julien’s intentions behind the sacrifice of both of his sons as well as Lasher come into starker focus, as does Julien’s necessity for Rowan and her power as part of a much larger plan...

Mayfair Witches strays quite far from the books both in terms of the story and the characters, so it’s obvious that fans of Anne Rice’s “The lives of the Mayfair Witches” aren’t too fond of the show. But to be fair, there’s more to the general dismissal of Esta Spalding’s show as a worthy addition to Immortal Universe than just the liberties it takes with the source material. Personally, I have a wildly varying opinion on the show depending on which episode I’ve seen last. And since Mayfair Witches goes from 0 to 100 within the matter of a single episode, it’s not the easiest thing to stick to the show. But now that the sophomore season has drawn to a close, I’ve got to admit that I’m pretty excited to see where the story will go should they greenlight a 3rd season.

Alexandra Daddario is an award-nominated performer, but not everybody is a fan. Some have criticized the Mayfair Witches star for her acting work, but she doesn't put too much stock into what they say, feeling that her Emmy nomination speaks for itself.

Per Elle, Daddario was asked to address what she considers to be the "most outrageous rumor" she has heard about herself that just "won't go away." What came to mind first for Daddario was the perception held by her critics that she's "a bad actress." While she agreed that not every project she has been a part of has been a major success, she pointed out how these failures were not because of her performances directly. When it comes strictly to her work, Daddario feels very confident in how she performs on-screen.

AMC has expanded their adaptation of Anne Rice's Immortal Universe in Mayfair Witches, but will the supernatural thriller get renewed for a third season soon? Developed for TV by Michelle Ashford and Esta Spalding, the series adapts Rices' Lives of the Mayfair Witches trilogy of books that concern Rowan Mayfair (Alexandra Daddario) as she inherits her family's fortune, and discovers their lineage of witchcraft. A malignant spirit named Lasher (Jack Huston) has linked itself to the Mayfair family for centuries, and Rowan is the latest in a long line of Mayfair women who must try to stop the foul entity.

Starting with Interview with the Vampire in 2022, AMC has continued to build up Anne Rice's Immortal Universe in both Mayfair Witches and the upcoming series about the Talamasca. The Mayfair Witches novels are linked to the aforementioned vampire series, and everything is tied together by the secret organization known as Talamasca.

Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches is back. Almost two years after its Season 1 finale aired, Mayfair Witches returns today on AMC and AMC+ with its Season 2 premiere.

Based on the novel trilogy Lives of the Mayfair Witches by Anne Rice, Mayfair Witches follows neurosurgeon Dr. Rowan Fielding, played by Alexandra Daddario, as she learns she is the heiress to a dynasty of powerful witches haunted by a sinister spirit. The supernatural horror series also stars Harry Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair, Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, and Jack Huston as Lasher. The eight-episode first season aired on AMC between Jan. 8 and Feb. 26, 2023. The second season, also consisting of eight episodes, premieres tonight on Jan. 5, and will run until Mar. 2, 2025.

Anne Rice's Immortal Universe is showing no signs of slowing down, with new seasons of both Mayfair Witches and Interview with the Vampire on the way. Tongayi Chirisa, who stars in the former as Talamasca agent Ciprien Grieve, recently teased that a crossover between the two series could be in the works.

Speaking with Screen Rant ahead of Mayfair Witches' Season 2 premiere on Jan. 5, Chirisa noted how it would not be unusual for his character to encounter other supernatural beings due to his work with the secret society, Talamasca. "I think for Cip, it's not uncommon to encounter the supernatural," he explained. "I think with what's happening in Season 2, Cip was a certain level of Talamasca agent until certain things start to happen that will finally give him access to some of the deeper secrets of the Talamasca."

The latest video for AMC’s upcoming Mayfair Witches Season 2 has dropped, teasing viewers about what's next for the supernatural drama’s main characters. The series is based on the Lives of the Mayfair Witches novel trilogy by acclaimed author Anne Rice.

The Mayfair Witches Season 2 behind-the-scenes video features showrunner Esta Spalding and the cast, including lead star Alexandra Daddario, as they discuss some of the key points of the next installment. They teased Lasher’s motives and complicated relationship with Rowan, after he managed to successfully reincarnate himself as Rowan’s child. According to Spalding, viewers will get to see a different side of Lasher, who begins to recall some memories from his past lives now that he has become human. The featurette also gives spotlight to the show’s newest characters in the form of Rowan’s family, including her powerful cousin Moira Mayfair, portrayed by Alyssa Jirrels.

AMC's critically-acclaimed adaptation of Interview With the Vampire recently wrapped its superb second season, but the network's other serialized take on the works of the late Anne Rice, The Mayfair Witches, is also set to return for a sophomore run, and a new teaser trailer and poster have now been released.

The first season concluded with Rowan Fielding (Alexandra Daddario) giving birth to a human incarnation of the demon known as Lasher (Jack Huston), fulfilling the Mayfair family prophecy in the process.

This came on top of Rowan discovering that she is the heiress to a long line of witches - and learning the truth behind her own parentage, which ultimately led to her using her new magical abilities to turn her biological father to stone.

“In the books, [Lasher] grows really quickly in a matter of minutes. We’ve drawn it out a little bit,” showrunner Esta Spalding reveals to TV Line.

Agatha All Along is one of the biggest shows of the fall. In terms of hype and excitement, it feels like one of the biggest of Marvel's Disney+ shows since the streaming service launched in 2019.

After fans watched all nine episodes of Agatha All Along, there's going to be a long wait until Agatha All Along season 2 (or whatever iteration that continues this story) hits Disney+. That's the bad news. The good news is two-fold. It sure sounds like Agatha All Along season 2 is going to happen. Disney and Marvel haven't officially confirmed the series will be back, but showrunner Jac Schaeffer sure made it sound like more Agatha is on the way after that incredible season 1 ending and finale, via Marvel.
