With increasing class disparity, the pervasion of hyper consumerism, and corporate control over every sphere of life, it’s no wonder that in art and literature, eat-the-rich has become a subgenre in itself. The existing inequality, the negligence of the so-called one percenters towards the plight of those in need, and the inevitable conflict between different strata of the economic hierarchy make for relatable, engrossing narratives. But the issue is, among the numerous movies released nowadays that deal with this particular topic, only a few actually manage to ask the right questions with an understanding perspective. Unfortunately, Netflix’s German drama, Delicious, isn’t one of those, and despite having the right intention to portray the ever-growing and persistent class divide, it ends up demonizing the oppressed class in the most weird way possible. The characterization feels largely derivative as well, and the narrative as a whole is very predictable.

Delicious (2025) is a German psychological thriller set in France. It follows a wealthy family of four—John, Esther, Philipp, and Alba—who spend their summers vacationing in the French countryside. During their stay, they are involved in a tragic accident, which unexpectedly leads them to cross paths with a mysterious woman named Teodora. With calculated precision, she exploits their weaknesses, slowly unraveling the family from within—all to serve her own hidden agenda.

The Berlinale has announced the full line-ups of its Panorama, Forum and Generation sidebars for the 74th edition running from February 15 to 24. (scroll down for full list)

That’s true for the characters in the movie, who wear blindfolds to avoid seeing monsters that will otherwise cause you to commit suicide on sight. At their best, Bird Box and the sequel Bird Box: Barcelona follow the principles of Jaws and Alien: They keep the creepy thing out of sight to let the viewer’s imagination do the work.

Five years ago seems aeons in an era so disrupted by Covid. The second teaser trailer for Netflix’s Bird Box spinoff, Bird Box Barcelona, reveals much more of the terror the citizens of Barcelona are feeling as the creatures launch their attack. The premise remains the same as the original film – cover your eyes and never ever look at the creatures – but the setting switches to show how the world’s dealing with these bizarre beasts.

Bird Box starring Oscar winner Sandra Bullock premiered in December 2018, and the spinoff will debut on Netflix on July 14, 2023. Goya award winner Mario Casas (No matarás) leads the cast of the spinoff, starring Georgina Campbell, Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Diego Calva, and Patrick Criado.

In addition, Lola Dueñas, Gonzalo De Castro, Michelle Jenner, and Leonardo Sbaraglia also star.

Álex Pastor and David Pastor penned the screenplay and co-directed. Dylan Clark, Chris Morgan, Núria Valls, Adrián Guerra, Josh Malerman, and Ryan Lewis produced the post-apocalyptic thriller.

Five years after the original "Bird Box" became an absolute sensation on Netflix, we're finally getting a follow-up. While it's not a proper sequel, it is more of a spin-off taking place elsewhere in the world. In this case, Spain, which is why the forthcoming movie is aptly titled "Bird Box Barcelona." That also has a nice alliterative ring to it. But that's about the only thing about this movie that looks nice, as it seems absolutely chaotic and tense.

This appears to be going with a very similar conceit as the original film, with survivors trying to avoid eye contact with the mysterious beings at the center of this disaster at all costs. Entertainment Weekly has debuted a brand new teaser trailer this morning, while also confirming that Bird Box Barcelona is not a prequel. Rather, the events of the film are unfolding at the very same time as the original Bird Box movie… in a very different part of the world.

Producer Dylan Clark tells EW, “The events that we see Malorie/Sandra Bullock endure in the original Bird Box are happening at the same time that Sebastian/Mario Casas is going through his journey. Being in Barcelona gave us a chance to see how surviving this intense threat in an iconic city poses different challenges.”

In today's news of slightly unnecessary projects, Netflix is reviving its hit original film "Bird Box" with a sequel-extension film called "Bird Box Barcelona." You read that right, we're getting another "Bird Box" film, but seemingly one that is simply adjacent to, and not a continuation of, the events of the original. Interesting.

Back at the end of 2018, Netflix had a huge hit with their apocalyptic horror thriller Bird Box, based on a novel by Josh Malerman (pick up a copy Here). While Malerman has written a Bird Box sequel called Malorie (buy that one Here), Netflix has been focusing on the idea of producing Bird Box spin-offs that will be set in various locations around the globe. First up is a spin-off that’s set in Spain and was written and directed by Alex and David Pastor. While we’ve previously heard that this spin-off was going by the title A Ciegas, which happens to have been the Spanish title used for the first Bird Box, Netflix has now announced that the film is officially titled Bird Box Barcelona – and it will be available to watch on the streaming service as of July 14th!

Bird Box, one of Netflix’s most-watched movies ever, has finally spawned a follow-up — some four-and-a-half years after the Sandra Bullock-led original broke streaming records.

Released back in December 2018, the original Bird Box followed a mother (played by Bullock) as she and her children embark on a two-day journey whilst blindfolded, to avoid eye contact with a mysterious force that is decimating the world’s population.
