For some, family is everything. If you cross them in any way, there will be hell to pay. It is the nature of things, especially when your family wields power like a sword waiting to slice dissenters in twain. Today, Paramount+ is ready to give Guy Ritchie fans a taste of the filmmaker’s next star-studded series, Mobland, starring Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosman, and Helen Mirren. Paramount’s MobLand trailer is an explosive look at what happens when the wrong people think they can change the pecking order of a well-oiled criminal empire. Good luck with that, friend.
MobLand debuts on Paramount+ on March 30. It centers around two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch across the globe and the fiercely loyal “fixer” charged with protecting one of them at all costs.

Guy Ritchie's Young Sherlock welcomes another member to the Holmes family, as the director's upcoming Prime Video series casts the future detective's brother Mycroft. Set during Sherlock Holmes' late teen years as he studied at Oxford University, the series sees Arthur Conan Doyle's detective dragged into a murder case that will uncover a vast conspiracy. Ritchie's return to the classic literature character will not be connected to his Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law-led movie duology, but instead adapt the Young Sherlock novel series written by Andrew Lane.
As filming continues, Deadline reports that the series has cast a pivotal player for the series. Max Irons will take on the role of Mycroft, the elder son of the Holmes family. Netflix's sci-fi thriller series 3 Body Problem ends with a cliffhanger, paving the way for a second season. Created by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with Alexander Woo, it's adapted from Chinese author Liu Cixins celebrated Remembrance of Earth's Past book trilogy. The eight-episode first season mainly draws on the first book The Three-Body Problem. Initially, 3 Body Problem's story begins during the early days of China's Cultural Revolution, with a harrowing moment when astrophysics prodigy Ye Wenjie (first portrayed by Zine Tseng in her youth and later by Rosalind Chao) witnesses her professor father's brutal demise at the hands of Red Guards.
The narrative then catapults forward to contemporary England, where Detective Da Shi (Benedict Wong) is tasked with probing a series of scientist suicides. It turns out that Ye, disillusioned and recruited to a clandestine military facility aimed at making contact with extraterrestrial life,...

The creators of Netflix's 3 Body Problem had their hands full for the first season. With tons of source material to pull from, the creators no doubt couldn't put everything from the books into season 1. One of the show's creators, David Benioff, recently shared one scene from the books that unfortunately didn't make the final cut.
Benioff, Dan Weiss, and Alexander Woo recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter, to discuss their Emmy-nominated show, 3 Body Problem. The show is based on the series of novels written by Cixin Liu, known as the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy. The books were thought for many years to be too hard to adapt, as the novels are incredibly ambitious and are classified as hard sci-fi. However, the creators of Netflix's 3 Body Problem have proven to be up to the task, receiving multiple Emmy nominations for the first season.

You’d think after eight seasons of being under the gun during production of “Game of Thrones” that showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss would have found luxurious the extended pandemic writing process for Netflix series “3 Body Problem.” But that’s not how Benioff experienced it.
“It didn’t feel that way,” he said on a Zoom with co-creator Alexander Woo. “We were champing at the bit. We had a year-long negotiation to get the rights but meanwhile the three of us were not only doing zooms, we actually started writing just because we were so antsy to get going. And then we had [the pandemic]: it took a very long time before we finally got on set. Even though we had all that time, we still ended up having to rewrite everything. And go back for reshoots. Like a first season of any show, you’re trying to figure it out.

Young Sherlock TV series can explore Holmes & Moriarty's rivalry origin story. Professor Moriarty wasn't expected to appear, but Young Sherlock offers a chance to explore their backstory. Recent adaptations failed to show how Holmes and Moriarty met, but Young Sherlock has the opportunity to fill that gap.

Prime Video didn't have to go far to find a key cast member for their new Young Sherlock series. They just had to raid the cast of one of their other shows. Finn currently stars in Prime Video's fantasy series The Wheel of Time.

Young Sherlock offers a chance to delve into Sherlock's younger years and reveal new aspects of the iconic character. Prequels often do not benefit from including several characters from their source material. Young Sherlock will likely be better if it focuses on Sherlock and not side characters like Watson.
Though Guy Ritchie's upcoming Young Sherlock show could be amazing, the nature of the prequel means that it could easily fall into a disappointing trap. Since the late 1990s, British director Guy Ritchie has helmed iconic crime movies, including Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. However, in 2009, Ritchie tried his hand at franchises by directing two Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. Now, 15 years later, it seems that Ritchie is ready to return to the world of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's incredible detective.

The new Netflix series 3 Body Problem is continuing to tell the story of its first season through some “additional episodes” that the streamer has ordered, which will seemingly segue into new seasons as the show has been renewed for two more. The 3 Body Problem was the title of the first novel in Liu Cixin’s Remembrance of Earth’s Past trilogy. The second novel was titled The Dark Forest and the third was Death’s End. The first season of 3 Body Problem did pull in a sizeable audience, but the show wasn’t exactly the massive hit Netflix was hoping it would be, especially when you factor in the price tag of over $20 million per episode.

The first-ever Gotham TV Awards offered a stark contrast between the Gotham Film & Media Institute’s annual celebration of cinema. While both awards shows were founded to toast independent productions — that is, before the Gotham Awards increased their budget cap eligibility requirements in 2023 — the Gotham TV Awards felt like a strangely intimate gathering that was mostly populated by showrunners, network executives, and the Gotham TV Awards jurors, with a few actors and press sprinkled in.
Sure, it could be that it’s the first year for the awards show and thus a smaller turnout and even venue. Or perhaps the Gotham TV Awards will remain a coveted industry event, one that feels like it’s only for insiders.
The intimacy was most prominent during the Anniversary Tribute for “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” icon Mariska Hargitay. The award was presented by Hargitay’s former co-star Stephanie March, and...

Baby Reindeer captured the Breakthrough Limited Series award and Colin From Accounts was the only two-time winner at Tuesday’s inaugural Gotham TV Awards.
While the dress was black tie, the event moved at a remarkable clip, with barely an hour and 20 minutes required for the seven competitive awards and three career honors. Previously, the Gotham Film & Media Institute had included TV awards in its film-centric gala, which is held just after Thanksgiving as Oscar season is gearing up. This is the first year TV has had its own event.
Richard Gadd, who created and starred in Baby Reindeer, accepted the trophy on the behalf of his collaborators. As a comedian, he couldn’t resist quips about a “6-inch tall” pastrami sandwich at Katz’s Delicatessen and thanked his mom and dad for “messing me up enough to make me an artist.” But he closed his speech on a sincere note.

I don’t know much in the way of advice, but I do know that nothing lasts forever. So if you are in a rut, just keep going. Persevere, persevere, persevere and I promise you things will get better.

One of Netflix’s biggest hits of this year was the sci-fi series 3 Body Problem. Adapted from the eponymous book series by Chinese author Liu Cixin, the series captured the attention of fans due to its complex story and great production, as well as the brilliantly written characters and casting choices. While a lot of fans thought it was complex and were somewhat confused by the differences between the series and the books, the series received positive reviews from critics and fans, so it was expected that Netflix would renew it for a second season. And that has just happened! We are happy to confirm that Netflix has officially renewed the 3 Body Problem for a second series!

Given the massive amount of resources that Netflix committed to "3 Body Problem" (not to mention the lengthy stay at the top of Netflix's Top 10 lists since its debut), it was likely only a matter of time before the streaming giant made the obvious official. That's finally happened, and now fans of one of the nerdiest, densest, and most existential sci-fi book series ever written can look forward to showrunners and co-creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo's take on what's widely considered to be the best book of the alien-invasion trilogy.

When Game of Thrones TV series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss set out to craft an epic series called 3 Body Problem, an adaptation of a trilogy of sci-fi novels written by Chinese author Liu Cixin, for the Netflix streaming service, they were hoping to get four seasons out of the material. But when the first season of 3 Body Problem started streaming in March and pulled in a sizeable but underwhelming number of views, some began to question whether or not Netflix would want any more episodes of the big budget show. Now The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Netflix has indeed ordered more episodes – but just enough to allow Benioff, Weiss, and co-creator Alexander Woo to wrap up the story. Exactly how many episodes that will be has not yet been revealed.

Netflix announced on Wednesday that it had “renewed” “3 Body Problem,” but the streamer notably didn’t refer to the extension as a “Season 2.” Instead, it appears to be more of a case of Netflix ordering “additional episodes” instead of a new, full Season 2 order.
Per a press release, the exact number of seasons and episodes will be announced at a later date.
It appears that the order will take the series to its finale, as creators David Benioff, D.B. “Storytelling, and the words that they put in their actors’ mouths. They’re just glorious,” declares Liam Cunningham when giving high praise to the creators of Netflix’s hit sci-fi drama “3 Body Problem.” The series was created by multiple Emmy-winning “Game of Thrones” duo David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, who serve as co-creators and producers with writer/producer Alexander Woo (“True Blood”). For our recent webchat, Cunningham (who worked with Benioff and Weiss as Ser Davos Seaworth on “Game of Thrones”) adds, “it’s just wonderful! They aim so high with difficult storytelling that most normal people wouldn’t attempt to go near.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
