Miss Austen fans, we have brilliant news. The historical series is getting a sequel, Miss Austen Returns, Deadline reports. The original British series, which encapsulates a very fictionalized version of the Austen family, was critically acclaimed and loved by fans. So, a follow-up is a great idea to delve into more aspects of the beloved family.
The upcoming series will be based on The Elopement by Gill Hornby, whose other work became the crux of the original series. While most details about the follow-up are kept under wraps, Keeley Hawes and key cast members are set to return. The original series was based on a score of letters between Jane and her sister Cassandra Austen and chronicles their lives and loves.
But How ‘Miss Austen Returns’?
Christine Langan, whose Bonnie Productions made the series, revealed that the idea mostly comes from Hornby’s follow-up novel, “which we optioned, and which...

Beating Netflix’s (entirely unnecessary) remake of “Pride and Prejudice,” the BBC’s spinoff “The Other Bennet Sister” and French rom-com “Jane Austen Wrecked My Life” to the proverbial punch, the 250th birthday celebrations of arguably Britain’s most cherished novelist begins with a four-part drama focusing on her elder sister.
For many literary scholars, Cassandra Austen is a villainess of Miss Norris-esque proportions. After all, her deliberate burning of her sibling’s vast personal correspondence — only 160 of her approximately 3,000 letters are still intact — largely thwarted any attempt to further understand the famously elusive author. However, “Miss Austen,” itself based on Gill Hornby’s same-named piece of historical fiction, does its best to exonerate her reputation as a cultural vandal.
The BBC original certainly comes with an impressive period drama pedigree. Director Aisling Walsh won a BAFTA for her post-war miniseries “Room at the Top,” while leading lady Keeley Hawes...

Lenny Henry's surprising transformation from comedy to the fantasy genre was notable in his role as Chief Druid Balor in The Witcher: Blood Origin. Henry's venture into fantasy with his villainous role in the miniseries received negative reviews, indicating he may be more suited to playing the good guy. His portrayal of a lovable character in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power showcased Henry's strength in playing protagonist roles, suggesting that he should consider sticking to those characters in the fantasy genre.

This Witcher article contains spoilers for season 3 part 1 and The Witcher: Blood Origin.
In the first part of The Witcher season 3, we learn that Istredd (Royce Pierreson) is one of many people looking for Ciri (Freya Allan) across the Continent. After learning of her Elder Blood last season, he seems to be interested in her connection to the Monoliths for academic purposes. Rather than sending soldiers or monsters after Ciri, his search for answers first sends him on a quest to find the Book of Monoliths, an old elven book that supposedly “holds the key to traveling between spheres.”
Based on information he gets from super sleuths Codringher (Simon Callow) and Fenn (Liz Carr), Istredd tracks the book to an elven cavern near Nilfgaard and is shocked to find that someone from Aretuza had already claimed it. When he returns to his alma mater for the Conclave, he helps Triss...

Warning! Spoilers for The Witcher: Blood Origin
The Witcher Netflix series has now added the story of the first Witcher to its canon narrative, and it has a major impact on the franchise going forward. Prequel miniseries The Witcher: Blood Origin depicts many infamous historical events in the Witcher canon, one of which was who became the first Witcher in existence. This contrasts with the creation of the first Witcher ever in The Witcher book series, which tells a different story. While much of the monster-hunting organization is shrouded in mystery and prejudice from those they protect, most know that the enhanced reflexes and strength of the Witchers are attributed to genetic mutation and experimentation.

A lot is going on in Netflix's Blood Origin despite The Witcher prequel miniseries only being four episodes long. Blood Origin is set more than a thousand years before the main series. The following article discusses sexual assault.
The Witcher books feature an incredibly unsettling Ciri-centric storyline that Netflix's Witcher will hopefully not adapt due to The Witcher: Blood Origin. Played by Freya Allan, Ciri is a pivotal part of The Witcher mythology. In two seasons with a third currently in post-production, Netflix's adaptation has explored a small portion of her history. However, some of her stories in the canon are quite disturbing. A prominent example of this is her ordeal with Eredin Bréacc Glas and King Auberon Muircetach. The Princess of Cintra's blood has made her the target of different parties in the Witcher universe, one of which was Eredin, the Wild Hunt's vicious leader.
In The Lady of the Lake book, Eredin captured Ciri, so she could get pregnant with the offspring of his king, Auberon. Given Ciri's Elder Blood in The Witcher, Eredin hoped she could give elves...

The Witcher: Blood Origin is a 4 episode miniseries created by Lauren Schmidt and starring Michelle Yeoh, Sophia Brown and Laurence O’Fuarain.
The prequel to the series The Witcher that is now streaming, and sends the clear message: life carries on after Henry Cavil.
We still do not know how the fans will receive it, but in this mini-series, there are some spectacular fight scenes that very nimbly, and perhaps too often, have melodramatic moments.
Brutal and wild, nostalgic, captivating, ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’ is a prequel that serves a foretaste for what is to come, though, truth be told, something has changed forever in The Witcher.
Synopsis
More than a thousand years before the world of The Witcher, seven outcasts in the elven world unite in a blood quest against an unstoppable power.

Every streaming service has that blockbuster high-fantasy property that it’s milking into a dried-out husk. Now has the world of Westeros, while Amazon has Middle-Earth. Netflix, meanwhile, has been piling money into adaptations of Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher series of novels (better known in their video-game form). And so, naturally, after a year that has seen dragons and magic rings dominating television, the lore of The Witcher returns this Christmas with a prequel, set a millennium before Henry Cavill’s Geralt (soon to be Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt) walked these lands. This is The Witcher: Blood Origin.
The action is introduced using a clumsy conceit involving Jaskier (Joey Batey), a familiar face from the first two seasons of the show, and Minnie Driver’s mysterious magic elf. “I slip between worlds and times collecting forgotten stories,” she tells him. “I bring them back to life when the world needs them.

The Witcher: Blood Origin drops on Netflix this Christmas day and while it is sure to be a gift for Witcher fans and everyone discovering the glory that is Michelle Yeoh (who appears as Scían), the cast didn’t always the merriest time nailing some of the dialogue. The brutal prequel series set 1200 years before The Witcher, Blood Origin is all about how the Elven society was colonized and what led to the creation of the very first demon-hunting Witcher. Over the span of the four-part miniseries — which also stars Minnie Driver (Seanchaí), Sophia Brown (Éile), Laurence O’Fuarain (Fjall), Mirren Mack (Merwyn), Lenny Henry (Balor), Lizzie Annis (Zacaré), Huw Novelli (Callan “Brother Death”), Francesca Mills (Meldof), Zach Wyatt (Syndril), and Joey Batey (reprising his role as Jaskier from the mothership) — seven outcasts from various tribes unite to battle a monolithic power. A misfit band for sure, these reluctant warriors wind...
