Michelle Wolf Releases Set Roasting the White House Correspondents’ Dinner
Image
In 2018, stand-up star and former Daily Show correspondent Michelle Wolf set the American news media ablaze with her burn of then-Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Now that nobody is allowed to roast the powerful anymore at the Whcd, Wolf wants all the smoke.

When Wolf hosted the annual meeting of America’s most important political leaders and the journalists who are supposed to hold them accountable during Donald Trump’s first term as president, she unloaded a series of scathing smackdowns on the entirety of Washington, D.C. and its most influential citizens. But somehow, out of all the brutal roasts Wolf delivered to the frowning faces of the political elite, one of Wolf’s most mild burns of the night became the only line from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner to elicit multiple weeks of round-the-clock commentary in all the major news outlets...

Five Time People Got Legitimately Mad at Triumph the Insult Comic Dog
Image
No matter how offensive he’s being, there’s just something about Triumph the Insult Comic Dog that people find charming. Ever since he first appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien in in 1997, he’s gotten away with humiliating Star Wars nerds and crashing political conventions mostly without consequence. He’s even managed to endear himself to everyone from Stephen Colbert to Mike Huckabee.

On occasion, however, Triumph — and, by extension, his performer Robert Smigel — have managed to antagonize the wrong person. And, instead of laughing things off, Triumph’s target has responded with genuine fury. Here are five such times when Triumph has truly pissed someone off, very much finding himself in the doghouse.

1 Security at the 1999 Westminster Dog Show Play

When Triumph attended the Westminster Dog Show in 1999, the Montenegrin Mountain Hound wasn’t yet the canine insult institution he is today, so not everyone was entertained by his antics.

Kennedy Center Honors Features Salutes To Francis Ford Coppola, The Grateful Dead And Bonnie Raitt — And A Sendoff To Joe Biden
Image
Updated: At Sunday’s Kennedy Center Honors, George Lucas, Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro each appeared on stage to give special tributes to Francis Ford Coppola, while Al Pacino called him a trailblazer willing to break the first rule of Hollywood: Never put your own money in your movie projects.

Julia Louis Dreyfus said that when honoree Bonnie Raitt “sings and plays, you know instantly that it’s Bonnie Raitt. It’s just all red hair and no bulls—.”

After testimonials for honoree The Grateful Dead from figures like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, David Letterman popped out of a prop Deadhead’s Vw van and declared, “I’m so f—ed up.”

Then, Letterman threw in a quip about the trepidation of what’s ahead for the annual event, D.C. preeminent gathering of Beltway, showbiz and media elite.

“I was talking to people backstage, and they are...

Trump Nominates Fox News Host Pete Hegseth to be Secretary of Defense
Image
One of the Fox & Friends may have a new job … in President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet.

Trump on Tuesday said that he intends to nominate Fox & Friends weekend host Pete Hegseth to be his Secretary of Defense, one of the most important cabinet positions in his administration.

A Fox News source tells The Hollywood Reporter that Hegseth’s time with the company ends today, his last show was this past weekend.

“Pete Hegseth has been an exceptional host on Fox & Friends and Fox Nation and a best-selling author for Fox News Books for nearly a decade,” a Fox News spokesperson says. “His insights and analysis especially about the military resonated deeply with our viewers and made the program the major success that it is today. We are extremely proud of his work at Fox News and wish him the best of luck in Washington.”

“Pete has spent his entire life...

Strange ‘Apprentice’ Bedfellows: Trump Biopic Director Boosts Roger Stone’s Praise Of Jeremy Strong’s “Uncanny” Roy Cohn Performance
Image
If you thought that Kamala Harris and Liz Cheney singing from the same electoral choirbook last week was a political head-turner, wait to you see who The Apprentice director Ali Abbasi is linking up with.

Proving that political and artistic bedfellows can be unpredictable, Abbasi reposted some praise his film and one of its stars Jeremy Strong received Tuesday from Donald Trump acolyte and ex-Richard Nixon operative Roger Stone.

“I knew Roy Cohn. Roy Cohn was a friend of mine,” Stone wrote on X. “The portrayal of Roy Cohn by actor Jeremy Strong in the new movie “The Apprentice ” is uncanny in it’s [sic] accuracy.”

As I have been saying #TheApprentice is not taking sides politically. It’s entertaining and surprising and I feel it’s a fair portrayal of these colourful and polarising characters. Watch the movie and find out if you agree with me and @RogerJStoneJr . https://t.

Donald Trump’s cameo in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York | Fox Family Entertainment

House Speaker Mike Johnson Says That God Prepared Him To Be The Next ‘Moses’ At Christian Lawmakers’ Gala He Thought Was Off The Record
Image
On December 5, House Speaker Mike Johnson delivered a speech at this year’s National Association of Christian Lawmakers gala.

During his speech, he thanked the event’s organizers for not inviting any reporters, though it has not been made clear if he knew that the event’s organizer would record and post a video of the gala on his Facebook page.

“I’ll tell you a secret since the media’s not here,” Johnson told them.

His secret was that he had many conversations with God in the lead-up to the speaker role with which he was anointed.

“The Lord impressed upon my heart a few weeks before this happened that something was going to occur,” he said. “And the Lord very specifically told me in my prayers to prepare but to wait. I had this sense that we were going to come to a Red Sea moment in our...

Newsmax+ Sees 150,000 Users Sign Up in First Month
Image
The conservative news streaming service is off to the races, showing off an impressive subscriber total for its first 30 days.

It’s hard to underestimate the importance of live news, even as cord-cutting continues to impact the TV-watching audience. One survey from September found that all age groups used their broadcast TV channels to watch news more than any other type of programming.

The conservative news streaming service Newsmax+ launched at the beginning of November. At the end of that month, the service had already accrued 150,000 subscribers. The figure is impressive for a streamer with a niche audience and a narrow selection of content. How is Newsmax+ Doing?

When Newsmax+ first launched earlier this month, it was undoubtedly a gamble for Newsmax. After all, the channel’s content had been streaming on a free ad-supported TV (Fast) channel on platforms like Roku and YouTube, so it was no guarantee that...

Everything You Need to Know About Newsmax+, the New Conservative News Streaming Platform
Image
The hard-right news channel now has its own subscription streaming platform, with prices starting at $4.99 per month.

The removal of Newsmax from Directv earlier this year drew sharp protests from ultra-conservative viewers of the channel, who were quick to cry censorship at its withdrawal. Directv insisted there was no political motivation behind the removal, and eventually a new carriage deal brought the channel back to airwaves for Directv customers.

Carriage disputes are only becoming more common as cable and satellite lose customers, however. To help allay audience anxiety that the channel may be pulled from other providers in the future, Newsmax has launched its own direct-to-consumer (Dtc) service, imaginatively named Newsmax+, which is available now.

If Ron DeSantis Has a Shot in Hell, It Starts Here
Image
Even in the basement of the Iron Horse bar and grill, it’s hot in Chariton, Iowa. The woman next to me fans herself with her “Ron DeSantis for President” flyer. A little boy leaning against the barrier between the crowd and the small stage plugs his ears against the too-loud dad rock blasting from the too-big speakers. All anyone talks about is the heat, which is for the birds, a man says wiping his forehead. For the birds.

Duggar Family Secrets: 10 Ways Jim Bob & Michelle Took Advantage Of Their Kids Behind The Scenes
Image
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar raised 19 children and made it look harmonious, but in Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, it was revealed that growing up in the Duggar household wasn't always rosy. As parents, Jim Bob and Michelle were adored for their parenting style and commitment to their faith, all while managing a large household. To the outside world, they had the key to raising happy, obedient, and loving children, but not everything was the way it appeared.

It's not every day that a family chooses to have 19 children, and the Duggar family became a marvel for this very reason. They quickly became a household name, and Jim Bob and Michelle gained television deals, interviews, and book deals. Their reality show 19 Kids and Counting followed their daily lives and showed how doing basic things like laundry, making meals, and grocery shopping were completed in such a large family.

Duggar Family Secrets: Jim Bob's Political Career & Aspirations Explained
Image
Jim Bob Duggar had an interesting political career that was revealed in the Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets documentary. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar follow the teaching of The Institute in Basic Life Principles, which some believe is a religious cult. The reality TV family has been at the forefront of their religion for years, and is often seen as the pinnacle of what a family can achieve. However, behind the scenes, there are leaders who want to gain world domination.

While on the air, the reality show 19 Kids and Counting was a hit since most Americans had never seen such a large family. Jim Bob and Michelle raised their children with a strict Christian moral code that included no radio or TV, modest dressing, and not kissing until the couple's wedding day. While Jim Bob and Michelle always presented a united front, the patriarch dreamed of bigger...

Duggar Family Secrets: Iblp's 6 Biggest Political Connections
Image
With Amazon releasing a documentary on the Duggar family entitled Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, the world is learning that the famous family and The Institute in Basic Life Principles had connections in high places. The Iblp presents itself as a religious organization, but former members have explained they had hopes of world domination. Now, the Amazon series is giving an in-depth look into all the connections.

It became apparent during Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets that the leader of the Iblp, Bill Gothard, had his hands in a lot of schemes and tried to figure out the best way to send his disciples into high-ranking positions. One of his main thoughts was to create the Joshua Generation, which was the millennial generation who could go forth and conquer in the name of God. Bill took the best and the brightest from his Christian home school program and...

The Christian Nationalist Machine Turning Hate Into Law

Jason Rapert has likened himself to an Old Testament seer, conveying hard truths on behalf of an angry God. On his broadcast Save the Nation, the 50-year-old preacher and former Arkansas state senator calls himself a “proud” Christian Nationalist, insisting: “I reject that being a Christian Nationalist is somehow unseemly or wrong.”

Long a shadowy force in American politics, Christian Nationalism is having a coming out party. The movement seeks a fusion of fundamentalist theology with American civic life. “They believe that this country was founded for Christians like them,...

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Will Deliver GOP Response After State Of The Union
Image
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the former White House press secretary and newly elected governor of Arkansas, will deliver the GOP response after President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on Tuesday.

Sanders will deliver the address from Little Rock.

Sanders served as President Donald Trump’s press secretary from 2017 to 2019. She then joined Fox News as a commentator, but left that position to run for governor of Arkansas. She followed her father, Mike Huckabee, as governor of the state and is the first woman to hold that position.

Kim Reynolds, the governor of Iowa, delivered the GOP response last year.

In a statement, Sanders said, “We are ready to begin a new chapter in the story of America – to be written by a new generation of leaders ready to defend our freedom against the radical left and expand access to quality education, jobs, and opportunity for all.”

‘Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist’ Review: Kevin Sorbo Steps Into Nicolas Cage’s Shoes for Sequel, After Rapture of Previous Movie’s Entire Cast
Image
If you see just one thriller this year in which a climactic car chase is followed by the director-star breaking character to deliver a five-minute sermon straight into the camera — followed by three more minutes of Mike Huckabee leading viewers in prayer to accept Jesus into their hearts, before the end credits roll — then make it “Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist,” the latest in a series of apocalyptic films based on the bestselling Christian book series.

Although “Rise” is the sixth feature derived from dozens of rapture-iffic novels and spinoff novellas published under the “Left Behind” banner in the mid-’90s through mid-2000s, it’s the first in the film series to have Kevin Sorbo as a leading man as well as director. Where past installments were relatively coy about their evangelistic purpose, Sorbo opts to add a literal come-to-Jesus epilogue. You may recall that the last actor...

Donald Trump Gets The Spotlight For His 2024 Speech, But Networks Vary In Coverage And Cutaways
Image
Donald Trump did draw the media spotlight for his presidential announcement speech on Tuesday, but the networks varied in how they approached the event, carrying parts of it and cutting away at others.

The coverage perhaps offers a glimpse of how Trump will be covered as he embarks on his third presidential bid — certainly a top story, but not the only one.

Trump promoted the speech as “one of the most important ones in the history of our country,” but the networks alternated their focus on other stories throughout the day. That included the missile hit on Poland that, just minutes before Trump took the stage, put the focus on his nemesis, President Joe Biden.

CNN carried the speech from Mar-a-Lago for more than 20 minutes before cutting away when Trump made the official announcement. Anderson Cooper then went to a fact check with Daniel Dale, a fixture during the 2020 election cycle.

Trump’s 2024 Announcement Was So Boring Even Fox News Cut Away
Image
Donald Trump said from behind a podium at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday that he’s launching a campaign to take back the White House in 2024. It wasn’t exactly a rousing announcement. The former president seemed bored as he squinted at his teleprompter and regurgitated well-trod talking points about immigration, crime, the economy, and more, mixing in several rambling tangents.

The speech was so dull that even Sean Hannity cut away from it.

Roaf’s family played a huge part in history. His mother was named the first Black Supreme Court Justice in Arkansas, appointed by both Democratic and Republican Governors. His father played football for Michigan State after traveling the civil rights-era iteration of the ‘Underground Railroad,’ a clandestine network that helped promising African-American athletes migrate north and escape the segregated south to play college and professional sports. Roaf went on to play in the NFL for both the New Orleans Saints and the Kansas City Chiefs, earning himself 13 Pro-Bowls and eventually ending up in the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, Oh.

Republicans Are Calling the Roe Leak an ‘Insurrection’

Republicans — the party that decided it was pretty much fine that a violent mob stormed the Capitol to try to overturn Donald Trump’s 2020 election loss — are clutching all of their pearls over the leak of a Supreme Court draft opinion that overturns Roe v. Wade.

Indeed, in a delicious bit of projection, they’re claiming that the leak amounts to… wait for it… an “insurrection” against the judicial body.

Although the leaker’s identity is unknown — and although there is not yet one iota of evidence about the leaker...

Why White House Officials Are Descending on TV News
Image
The nation’s biggest TV-news outlets have made it increasingly easy for top officials in the White House to have a presence in your house.

If White House press secretary Jen Psaki joins MSNBC as expected, she will be the second Biden official to land at the NBCUniversal-owned network in the space of less than a year. She will join Symone Sanders, a former campaign adviser to President Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders, at MSNBC, where she is taking on a weekend show that will also have a streaming presence.

Psaki declined to discuss her negotiations with MSNBC Friday during a White House press briefing, but two people familiar with the matter say she has been weighing potential roles with both CNN and MSNBC and should surface at the latter by autumn.

She isn’t alone in her interest in TV news. Mick Mulvaney, the former Trump administration aide,...

Trump Is Still Clinging to the Delusion That He Won the War on Christmas, Which Isn’t Real
Image
Mike Huckabee hosted a Christmas special on Newsmax this week, and he was lucky enough to score an interview with Donald Trump. It went about as expected, with the former Arkansas governor gushing about all the invaluable work the former president did to reinvigorate America with the spirit of Christmas … or something.

“America had gone through a long period where people quit saying Merry Christmas. It was all Happy Holiday,” a bearded Huckabee told Trump with a twinkle in his eye. “You deliberately changed that and openly said Merry Christmas.

Kayleigh McEnany Will Co-Anchor Fox News Channel’s ‘Outnumbered’
Image
Kayleigh McEnany, the former White House Press Secretary during the Trump administration, will take on a regular anchoring job at Fox News Channel, co-hosting the daytime program, “Outnumbered,” a move that helps cement the Fox Corporation-backed outlet’s Trump ties in the aftermath of the 2020 election.

Starting April 6, McEnany will appear regularly on the program along with Harris Faulkner, who has been a regular presence on the show since its launch in 2014, as well as Emily Compagno, a co-host, and a rotating panel of guests. Her new post was announced just a day after Fox News unveiled plans to make Lara Trump, the former president’s daughter-in-law, a contributor even as she publicly mulls a potential bid for the U.S. Senate in North Carolina.

McEnany was named a contributor to the network earlier this month.

“Kayleigh’s unique background in politics and law coupled with her experiences confronting women...

Kayleigh McEnany, Controversial White House Press Secretary, Joins Fox News
Image
Kayleigh McEnany, a White House Press Secretary during the Trump administration whose performance in the role drew criticism, has joined Fox News as a contributor, the network announced Tuesday. Details were revealed during an on-air interview with Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner.

McEnany isn’t the first Trump administration official to take an on-air role with the Fox Corp.-backed outlet. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a McEnany predecessor in the White House press operations, became a contributor in 2019, and recently stepped down to pursue a run for governor of Arkansas. Larry Kudlow, a former Trump economic advisor, now anchors an hour on Fox Business Network.

McEnany is making a return to a place she called home at an early point in her career. She was once a production assistant assigned to “Huckabee,” the now-defunct Fox News program hosted by former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee that ran on Fox News between 2008 and...

Fox News Says Kayleigh McEnany Is Not An Employee, But They’ve Talked About A Gig
Image
Recently departed White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany has talked with Fox News about joining the network, but she is not currently employed by them.

Reports swirled about her next gig on Tuesday after Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington obtained her recent financial disclosure form, which showed a line listing “employment agreement with Fox News, starting work in January.” The form is required for certain government employees.

But a Fox News spokesperson said that McEnany “is not currently an employee or contributor at Fox News.”

According to a source familiar with the matter, there were initial conversations with McEnany after the election for an “on air role and we paused on them.” The source had no further details but said that the network is “open to hiring her in the future given we do not condone cancel culture.”

McEnany could not immediately be reached for comment. During her White House tenure and afterward,...

Fox News Held Talks With Former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany
Image
Fox News Channel held talks with Kayleigh McEnany, the former White House Press Secretary whose performance in the role earned sharp criticism, about a possible position at the cable-news outlet, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Those conversations have yet to bear fruit. “Kayleigh McEnany is not currently an employee or contributor at Fox News,” the Fox Corporation-owned network said in a statement Tuesday.

Fox and McEnany held talks after the 2020 election, this person says, but paused them for a reason that was not discussed. The network remains open to hiring McEnany, who first came to wider prominence as a contributor at CNN in the run-up to the nation’s 2016 election. While McEnany’s routine use of press conferences at the White House to insult reporters while not answering many questions in direct fashion has resulted in many detractors, Fox News executives “do not condone cancel culture,” this person said.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Donald Trump’s Former Press Secretary, Announces Campaign For Arkansas Governor
Image
Former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders made it official on Monday that she is running for governor of Arkansas, posting an announcement video that has echoes of Donald Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign.

“As governor, I will defend our right to be free of socialism and tyranny, your Second Amendment right to keep your family safe and your freedom of speech and religious liberty,” she said. “Our state needs a leader with the courage to do what’s right, not what’s political correct or convenient.”

She also refers to “far left and their allies at CNN or the New York Times,” an indication that at least part of her campaign will co-opt Trump’s attacks on the news media.

Sanders was White House press secretary from 2017 to 2019, the longest tenure of any of the four figures who were in that role during Trump’s term.

Donald Trump, Nearing End Of Presidency, Taps Supporters For Slots On Kennedy Center Board Of Trustees
Image
Donald Trump is tapping a series of donors, supporters and other figures to fill spots on the board of trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

On Tuesday, the White House said that the president intended to appoint Elaine Chao, his secretary of transportation, to the board. Also announced was Lynn Friess, who with her husband, conservative activist and donor Foster Friess runs a family philanthropic foundation; Douglas Manchester, the San Diego real estate developer whose nomination to be the ambassador to the Bahamas was dropped amid reports of an alleged pay for play scheme; Hannah Buchan, founder of an asset management fund whose husband Duke is the U.S. ambassador to Spain; and philanthropist Catherine Reynolds.

The board of trustees includes three dozen members appointed by the president to six-year terms. Trump’s appointees have included Jon Voight, Lee Greenwood, Mike Huckabee and Andrea Wynn.

Sandbox Entertainment’s President and CEO Jason Owen — Future 25

In an earlier life, Jason Owen worked in television for visionaries like Aaron Spelling. Now as one of Nashville’s most influential managers, he’s taking what he learned from the 90210 creator to revive country music’s long-standing history with TV — and maybe catapult the next real superstar in the process.

“If you think of Dolly or Reba, they had tremendous careers in TV and film, and we haven’t had anyone in that world since,” says Owen, who has transformed country singer Kacey Musgraves into a pop-culture sensation not...

Hollywood To Trump: Get Well Soon And We Told You So
Image
Refresh for updates With a mix of sincere best wishes, karma-is-a-bitch snark, stunned disbelief and saw-it-coming hindsight, Hollywood and the Beltway responded quickly to the late-night news of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump testing positive for Covid-19.

“I am very surprised by the twist ending of ‘2020: Episode 3’ and I don’t see how they will be able to wrap this all up in one more episode,” tweeted actor Sean Gunn.

John Cleese drew some angry responses with his Python-esque sarcasm: “A doctor friend of mine tells me that Covid19 symptoms include delusions of grandeur, compulsive attention-seeking, extreme narcissism…”

In a less humorous mood, Ava DuVernay tweeted, “I hope this changes the discourse around this virus among the people who follow him and don’t give a damn. And in turn, who damn the rest of us. People have lost their lives. Their loved ones. And...

Ken Osmond Dies: Actor Who Played Eddie Haskell On ‘Leave It To Beaver’ Was 76
Image
Ken Osmond, who played obsequious troublemaker Eddie Haskell on TV’s Leave It to Beaver, has died, his manager confirms. Osmond was 76.

“He was an incredibly kind and wonderful father,” his son, Eric, said in a statement. “He had his family gathered around him when he passed. He was loved and will be very missed.”

The impact of his most famous performance can be measured by the fact that, for those of us of a certain age, if someone is described as an “Eddie Haskell”-type, we know exactly what is meant.

Appropriately, tributes poured in from across a broad spectrum. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said Osmond “created a memorable character,” and Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach cited Eddie Haskell as one of his “all-time influences.”

The Haskell character was a troublemaking friend of Wally Cleaver (Tony Dow), the older brother of Theodore, aka the Beaver (Jerry Mathers). Hugh Beaumont...

If you signed up for the Marianne Williamson campaign mailing list earlier this year, you might have gotten an email in early August from an entity called the Williamson Institute; subject: “Summer Sale Now On!” If you opened it, you would have been greeted by a soft-focus portrait of the presidential candidate gazing placidly at the pages of a hardcover tome beside a golden Buddha and an orchid.

Sean Spicer on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Backlash: ‘I’m Used to That’
Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer isn’t letting the controversy surrounding his appearance on “Dancing With the Stars” get to him.

“It’s nothing new,” Spicer told Variety after he made his “DWTS” debut on Monday night.

ABC faced quick backlash following the announcement last month that Spicer had been cast on the show. Even “DWTS” host Tom Bergeron released a statement expressing disappointment that producers politicized the show.

“Look, I’m used to that, you’ve got to zone it out, enjoy yourself. I know who I am and what I believe and I’m comfortable with that,” Spicer said. “I did this to have some fun, enjoy myself and hopefully show what a great opportunity this show is for the country to bring people together, allow you to root for another person regardless of their background. And we’re missing a lot of that right now.

Sean Spicer on “Dancing With The Stars” Debut: “Clearly The Judges Aren’t Going To Be With Me”
Eric Roberts, Tori Spelling, Reginald VelJohnson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Anna Delvey Sorokin, Joey Graziadei, Ilona Maher, Jenn Tran, Stephen Nedoroscik, Dwight Howard, Julianne Hough, Phaedra Parks, Chandler Kinney, Danny Amendola, and Brooks Nader in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
Hours after his debut on Dancing With The Stars in a hot lime fluffy shirt, Sean Spicer wrote on Twitter that “clearly the judges aren’t going to be with me” and suggested that viewers could send a message to Hollywood “that those of us who stand for Christ won’t be discounted.”

Spicer already has suggested that he may draw on email lists of supporters who bought his book or who signed up to his website SeanSpicer.com to encourage votes for him on the show, as judges gave him low marks in his debut appearance. That may have the feel of a political campaign, but he also is framing a DWTS win as a victory in the culture wars.

Thank you @GovMikeHuckabee Clearly the judges aren’t going to be with me. Let’s send a message to #Hollywood that those of us who stand for #Christ won’t be discounted.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Leaving White House After Two Years As Press Secretary
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders hasn’t held an official news conference in three months, and now she might not do any more. President Donald Trump announced via Twitter today that the woman who took over the podium from Sean Spicer in July 2017 will leave the administration at month’s end.

The presidential tweets hinted that Sanders someday might run for governor of Arkansas, a job her father Mike Huckabee held from 1996-2007:

….She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas – she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 13, 2019

No replacement for the job has been named.

Sanders’ tenure was a rocky one marked by sometimes-ugly clashes with with the White House press corps — famously CNN’s Jim Acosta — and Democrats’ accusations of spreading falsehoods.

Alec Baldwin Leaving ‘SNL’? Not So Fast…
Image
So maybe Alec Baldwin isn’t slamming the fake Oval Office door entirely on his Donald Trump impression on Saturday Night Live. After telling USA Today last week that he was “so done” playing the president in SNL‘s cold opens, the actor now is tweeting, “Who knows what the future holds?”

And that Sarah Huckabee Sanders is “a mouthpiece for fascism.” Doesn’t sound like he’s quite ready to withdraw into a quieter life just yet.

In a separate tweet this morning, in response to a CNN guest columnist who suggested Baldwin’s departure from the show would be a win for Trump, the actor responded: “Wait! Wait! If pissing off Trump is the point, then I’ll keep doing it! I’ll keep doing it!!”

The tweets hardly are a firm commitment, and Baldwin certainly seemed to be over the gig last week, but fans and haters...

Fox News Re-Signs Former Governor Mike Huckabee as Contributor
Fox News has re-signed former governor Mike Huckabee as a contributor, a representative for the network confirmed on Friday. The channel didn’t offer any specifics about how long the contract was for or any additional details.

Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas and two-time presidential candidate, has a long history with the network. Before becoming a contributor, he hosted his own Saturday show titled “Huckabee,” which ran from 2008 to 2015. The show ended when Huckabee left to pursue his second unsuccessful presidential run in 2016.

“As much as I have loved doing the show, I cannot bring myself to rule out another presidential run,” Huckabee told the New York Times. (It was later revived with Huckabee by the Christian-themed Trinity Broadcasting Network in 2017.)

John C Reilly Says Those ‘Step Brothers’ Farts Were Real (Video)
John C. Reilly
Uh, did John C. Reilly and Stephen Colbert just become best friends? Well, if the CBS late-night host is as amused by Reilly’s story about the authenticity of his “Step Brothers” farts as we are, then the answer is “Yup!”

Reilly and Colbert met for the first time during Thursday’s “Late Show,” and took the opportunity to trade war stories about their respective tenures doing improv and theater in Chicago in the ’80s. Reilly — who was more a stage thespian at the time — started listing off all the actors he admired from those days, one being John Malkovich.

And, uh, you can thank John for inspiring Reilly to really go big with his bodily functions while shooting the 2008 comedy with Will Ferrell.

Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis, Who Denied Same-Sex Marriage Licenses, Defeated by Democrat
Kim Davis, the clerk of Rowan County Kentucky who achieved 15 minutes of national infamy for refusing to grant marriage licenses back in 2015, was ousted form her office Tuesday evening.

Republican Davis was defeated by Elwood Caudill Jr. by a margin of about 700 votes, the Lexington Herald Leader reported.

“I genuinely offer gratitude to my family, and campaign supporters during the last year, for all their hard work, contributions, and commitment,” Caudill offered in a triumphant Facebook post shortly after the results were confirmed. “Moving our community forward means staying focused on our future. I believe that as a community we must continue to work together toward a more prosperous and cohesive Rowan County.”

Taylor Swift at an event for 2019 Golden Globe Awards (2019)
Taylor Swift — who started her career in country music three years after the Dixie Chicks were driven off airwaves for taking a stand against the Iraq invasion — has always been careful not to talk politics. Until now, that is. In an Instagram post on Sunday, Swift disclosed that she would be voting in Tennessee in November for two Democrats: former governor-turned-Senate hopeful Phil Bredesen and Rep. Jim Cooper, whose district includes Nashville.

“In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to...
