Video: Trump Met with Boos, Cheers and Drag Queens at Les MISÉRABLES Kennedy Center Opening
Image
Donald J. Trump made his first formal appearance at the Kennedy Center since returning to office, attending the official opening of Les Misérables on Wednesday evening. See video from inside the auditorium below. Trump arrived in full tuxedo alongside First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President Jd Vance and his wife Usha, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and newly installed Kennedy Center board members Maria Bartiromo and Laura Ingraham. Ric Grenell, the president’s handpicked interim head of the Center, was also on site. Audience reactions to Trump’s arrival were mixed, with cheers, boos, and a chant of “USA!” all echoed through the lobby as patrons passed through enhanced security screenings. Meanwhile, several drag performers staged a silent protest by attending in full regalia in a defiant nod...

Right-Wingers Are Struggling to Cope With the Trump-Musk Feud
Image
Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s bromance appears to be over after the president and the world’s richest man went after each other with a vengeance on Thursday. Trump implied Musk’s opposition to his legislative agenda is the result of Trump Derangement Syndrome, called the Tesla billionaire “Crazy,” and threatened to cancel Musk’s federal contracts. Musk called Trump “sad,” alleged the president is on the Epstein list, and even suggested he should be impeached.

It’s one of the wildest political breakups in recent memory, and, yes,...

FCC Chairman Carr seeks to designate NBC equal time issue for hearing
Image

Comcast and its entertainment company NBC Universal may soon be the subject of a formal inquiry launched by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) over a comedy sketch featuring former Vice President Kamala Harris that aired on “Saturday Night Live” last year.

Over the past few weeks, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr has informally inquired about the process of designating the matter for a formal hearing, The Desk has learned based on interviews with people inside the agency and others familiar with the matter.

The hearing would focus on certain obligations of Wnbc-tv (Channel 4), the NBC-owned station in New York City which was the subject of an informal complaint filed by a grassroots group called the Center for American Rights (Car) last year. The complaint accused Wnbc of violating the “equal time” provision of the Communications Act,...

Fox News Hosts, Anchors Pay Virtual Visits Across U.S. in New ‘For All America’ Campaign
Image
Fox News Channel wants viewers to think of its hosts and anchors as the type of people you might see while taking in a football game, eating at the local diner, or even on board a military transport.

A new Fox News promo uses digital technology to insert Sean Hannity in a neighborhood eatery; Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino in front of what looks like a field of wheat; Jesse Watters and Laura Ingraham at a football game; and Harris Faulkner on board what appears to be a Navy ship. The hosts talk about a new era “where common sense….” says Martha MacCallum, holding forth at a shopping center, “….meets common ground,” adds Bret Baier, her frequent co-anchor.

“This is a time to come together,” add the various hosts, who also include Greg Gutfeld, “for all America.”

Executives at Fox News hope to create the notion that there is a single,...

“Nobody’s King”: Joe Biden’s Back With More Of A Whisper Than A Bang In First Public Speech Of Trump 2.0
Image
Breaking with tradition in these far-from-normal times, Joe Biden hit the stage Tuesday in Chicago to take swipes at Donald Trump in Biden’s first public speech since leaving the White House in January. The occasion earned the former president a harsh rebuke from a top Trump insider.

“Nobody’s king, nobody’s the boss, everyone has a shot,” Biden warned of the promise of America and Trump’s “no heart” authoritarian rule without ever actually mentioning the current president’s name. In that sense, while the tone was much more muted, Biden stuck to the script delivered by his ex-vp Kamala Harris in her fiery speech earlier this month.

However, if you were expecting the former president to sound the call and rally the troops to resist his predecessor and successor’s attacks on the separation of powers and the rule of law, today’s remarks might be a...

“I’m disgusted”: ‘Modern Family’ Co-creator Didn’t Shy Away From Calling Out Fox Over Its Most Demented Association
Image
Modern Family has not shied away from getting political when it directly impacts the lives of its characters. The show wrote California’s legalization of gay marriage into the series, with an episode centered on Mitchell and Cameron proposing and eventually getting married. However, the politics of the creators did not stop there.

Co-creator Steven Levitan was extremely vocal about President Donald Trump’s detention of children of immigrants during his first term. It hit closer to home when Fox News’ presenter and noted conservative commentator Laura Ingraham called the detention centers ‘summer camps’ for children. Modern Family was co-produced by 20th Century Fox Television.

Trump Asks Supreme Court to Let Him Deport Migrants Without Due Process
Image
On Friday, Donald Trump asked the Supreme Court to overturn a temporary court order and let him deport migrants without a hearing after he sent almost 300 Venezuelan migrants to a notorious mega-prison in El Salvador. The filing argues that the president has the ultimate authority to remove people based on their nationality.

“This case presents fundamental questions about who decides how to conduct sensitive national-security-related operations in this country — the President … or the Judiciary,” Acting Solicitor General Sarah Harris wrote in the filing. “The Constitution supplies a clear answer: the President.

National Security Adviser Michael Waltz Says He Built Signal Group Chat That Mistakenly Included The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg: “Embarrassing, Yes”
Image
National Security Adviser Michael Waltz said that he built a Signal group chat that mistakenly included a journalist, The Atlantic‘s editor in chief Jeffrey Goldberg, whose bombshell story detailed how top Trump advisers shared war plans on the texting platform.

In an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on The Ingraham Angle, Waltz acknowledged that including Goldberg was in error and that the episode was “embarrassing, yes.” But he also tried to undermine Goldberg’s credibility, continuing the Trump administration’s effort to blame the media.

“How did a Trump-hating editor of The Atlantic end up on your Signal chat?”

Waltz then went into some of Goldberg’s past stories about Trump and questioned how “he’s the one that somehow gets on somebody’s contact and then gets sucked into this group.”

“I don’t know this guy,” he said. “I know him by his horrible reputation, and...

Republicans Are Trying (and Failing) to Defend Reckless War-Plans Group Chat
Image
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, Vice President J.D. Vance, and other high-ranking figures in Donald Trump’s administration recently used an unsecured Signal group chat to discuss plans to bomb Houthi militants in Yemen. The group chat somehow included journalist Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor in chief of The Atlantic, who wrote about the experience on Monday.

The administration’s stunning carelessness with this kind of highly sensitive information would have, in normal times, led to resignations. These are not normal times, though, and the White House...

Donald Trump’s Kennedy Center Visit: Potus Promises “Really Good Shows” And Broadway Hits But Says “I Never Liked ‘Hamilton’ Very Much”
Image
Updated, with additional details: On his visit to the Kennedy Center this afternoon, the arts institution’s new chairman of the board, President Donald Trump, was asked by a reporter why it was so important for him to spend his time with the venue and on its lineup.

“You have so much on your plate. Why come here today?” the reporter asked.

Trump answered, “This represents a very important part of D.C., and actually our country, and I think it’s important to make sure that our country is good shape and is represented well. When people look at this — I’ve been hearing for a long time that they come here, and they’re disappointed when they come here. We want them to be excited.”

Donald Trump To Visit Kennedy Center Amid Report He Will Assert More Control Over Who Is Honored
Image
Updated, with comments from press secretary: Donald Trump on Monday will make his first visit to the Kennedy Center since he ousted leadership and ensured that he would be chairman of the D.C. arts institution.

While the center has been beset by cancellations of major shows by artists protesting the Trump takeover, the president told reporters that “we have to straighten it out. It is not a good situation. Like everything else in this country.”

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the president “hopes to restore arts and culture that embrace American tradition, not disparage it, as we have unfortunately seen over the past several years.” She said that Trump would do a tour of the center and would “perhaps be discussing some future plays and musicals and theatrical programs that the center will be hosting under his new leadership.”

The New York Times reported that Trump will address...

Donald Trump Appoints Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo And Laura Ingraham To Kennedy Center Board
Image
Donald Trump said Friday that he has appointed Fox News’ Laura Ingraham and Maria Bartiromo to the board of the Kennedy Center, filling out the board with more of his supporters.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, “I am thrilled to announce that Laura Ingraham and Maria Bartiromo will be joining our Kennedy Center Board – This completes our selection. We look forward to restoring the Center to Greatness, and ushering in America’s Golden Age. Together, we will Make the Arts Great Again!”

Last month, Trump ousted board members who were appointed by his predecessor, Joe Biden, breaking with a long tradition of retaining board members for six-year terms. The board, then filled with Trump appointees, elected the president as the Kennedy Center’s chairman, another first, ousting philanthropist David Rubenstein.

Border Czar Tom Homan Asks Justice Dept. If Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Broke The Law By Helping Migrants Evade Ice
Image
Trump Administration border czar Tom Homan asked the Department of Justice if Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-New York) efforts to help illegal immigrants avoid authorities impeded Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (Ice) operations and broke the law.

Homan, who was named the Donald Trump‘s border czar in November 2024, appeared on the Fox News show, The Ingraham Angle. During his appearance on the show, the host Laura Ingraham told him that Ocasio-Cortez put “out a webinar” to advise illegal immigrants on avoiding trouble.

“I sent an email today to the deputy attorney general,” Homan stated. “At what level is that impediment? Is that an impediment? If so, what are we going to do about it? Is [Ocasio-Cortez] crossing the line?”

“So, I’m working with the Department of Justice and finding out where is that line that they cross,” he added. “So, maybe Aoc’s gonna be in trouble now.”

Whoopi Goldberg Slams Fox News Critics Angry Over Beyoncé’s Best Country Album Grammy Win
Image
Whoopi Goldberg is coming to Beyoncé’s defense after a Fox News pundit criticized the global icon for winning best country album at the 2025 Grammys on Sunday.

Conservative author Raymond Arroyo made an appearance on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, hosted by Laura Ingraham, Monday night, where he called Beyoncé’s Grammy wins a “ridiculous outcome.” The “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer took home the awards for best country album and album of the year for Cowboy Carter, in addition to best country duo/group performance for “II Most Wanted” featuring Miley Cyrus.

“The country artists are not really happy about this,” Arroyo claimed. “I’m gonna put this in some context Laura: Dolly Parton has 10 Grammys. Frank Sinatra had 11 Grammys. Beyoncé has 35. How is that possibly commensurate with that talent? I mean, come on.”

Arroyo continued, “Basically, Lady Gaga’s cat sitter voted for best reggae and best county album,...

Whoopi Goldberg Tells Fox News to ‘Sit Down’ Over Beyoncé Coverage (Video)
Image
Sunday night’s Grammy Awards were historic for Beyoncé Knowles, who made history by becoming the first Black woman to win Best Country Album for Cowboy Carter. And apparently, at least one commenter on Fox News was very vocally unhappy about that. On Tuesday’s (February 4) edition of The View, Whoopi Goldberg shared a clip of a guest on Laura Ingraham’s talk show who was incensed by the win and called it “ridiculous.” “Dolly Parton has 10 Grammys, Frank Sinatra has 11 Grammys. Beyoncé has 35. How is that possibly commensurate with that talent?” conservative author Raymond Arroyo argued on The Ingraham Angle. “What people don’t know about the Grammys is everybody votes in every genre… So basically, Lady Gaga’s catsitter votes for Best Reggae and Best Country Album, so that’s why you get this ridiculous outcome that has nothing to do with the country audience.” Goldberg, for one,...

Is Carrie Underwood Taking Legal Action Against ‘The View’?
Image
Recently, The View panelists were quick to share their thoughts on singer and songwriter, Carrie Underwood. Although the big event is over, are the rumors correct that Carrie is taking legal action against several of the panelists who criticized her choice to perform?

Carrie Underwood Got Flak From The View

Undoubtedly, the United States is very divided on President Donald Trump’s reelection. But on January 20 he stepped back into office to begin a new term. When Carrie Underwood announced she would be performing for Inauguration Day, responses were just as divided. Likewise, since it was a trending topic, The View opted to discuss it as well. While Carrie believes it is time to unite the country and set aside differences, the panelists didn’t understand why she would associate with President Trump. She delivered her performance a capella after a technical difficulty. But now people are talking about Carrie suing.

Donald Trump Attacks Bishop For Confronting Him In Prayer Service Moment That Went Viral
Image
The return of Donald Trump is readily evident today with reporters once again waking up to an angry presidential social media post, this time over a moment that went viral.

On Tuesday, at an inauguration prayer service at Washington National Cathedral, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde confronted Trump during her sermon, “In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian and transgender children in Democratic, Republican and independent families, some who fear for their lives. And the people who pick our crops and clean our office buildings, who labor in poultry farms and meat packing plants, who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shifts in hospitals, they may not be citizens or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals. They pay taxes and are good neighbors.

On ‘Fox News,’ Jay Leno Calls Out People ‘Pointing Fingers’ in L.A. Fires (Video)
Image
Jay Leno appeared on Fox News to discuss his involvement in helping the city of Los Angeles as wildfires destroy parts of the city. During the Wednesday, January 15, interview with Sandra Smith, he addressed the widespread politicizing of the fires and seemingly took a subtle dig at the network for playing the blame game. Leno, who has been serving meals to firefighters, said, “I haven’t heard a political discussion for the last few days. Nobody’s blaming this or that. They’re fighting the fire. I’m sure they have opinions, but it’s not a blame game at this point. It’s just a matter of ‘do what we gotta do to fix this right now.’ Everybody else in L.A. is pointing fingers and blaming people. These are the people actually doing something and fixing it.” Fox News has faced backlash for putting blame on Democrats for what’s happening in California.

Keith Olbermann: How Can MSNBC Save Itself After Trump’s Win? First Step: Fire Mika and Joe
Image
What does MSNBC do now? After Trump accomplished the Undead thing and retook the White House? After Comcast announced plans to spin off the network (along with others) in such haste that its new company was named “SpinCo”? After Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski went on their show and welcomed our new insect overlords? After its audience vanished?

Nothing.

Stay the course. The audience is exhausted and needs a break. It’ll be back — and Resistier than ever. Suffer the ratings trough. I mean, obviously you have to fire Mr. and Mrs. Scared-Bro. However: Continue their banal but largely benign political coffee klatch show without them and their insistence we all join their MSNVichy. Nobody will remember they were ever there.

Plus, the next money is coming from more fervent opposition to Maga, not less. Wasn’t the Scarborough disaster (41% of the demo audience gone in three days) instructive enough?...

Fox News Thinks Trump 2.0 Will Be Even Better for Ratings
Image
After Joe Biden nabbed a win in the Covid-era presidential election of 2020, conservatives were peeling away from Fox News — partially encouraged by Donald Trump — while upstart challengers like Newsmax and One America News were among those looking to woo the Maga base that was said to think that Fox was insufficiently right-wing in its perspective.

What a difference four years makes. Days ago, President-elect Trump gladhanded Sean Hannity at Fox’s annual Patriot Awards on Dec. 5, held this year in Brookville, New York, while claiming the “Patriot of the Year” honor and giving a speech that served to cement the next era of collaboration between the incoming administration and the Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch-controlled media empire.

That Fox News empire has been on a high since the election, with the channel up 7 percent in primetime while its rivals CNN (down by 46 percent) and MSNBC (down 52 percent) saw declines as viewers...

CNN host Abby Phillip has pointed out the hypocrisy of Fox News hosts celebrating athletes doing the Donald Trump dance despite their previous stance of keeping politics out of sports. “Sports has never been politics-free, and they aren’t now,” Phillip said on NewsNight on Tuesday, November 19. “And just as an example, suddenly you’re seeing a lot of athletes doing this… their version of Donald Trump doing his version of Conan O’Brien’s string dance despite looking like a dad without much rhythm at a bar mitzvah.” Phillip showed clips of athletes doing the Trump dance, including San Francisco 49ers player Nick Bosa, US soccer player Christian Pulisic, and Ultimate Fighting Championship star Jon Jones. “Republicans have reveled in this culture war crossover,” Phillip continued before showing clips of Fox News hosts Jesse Watters and Laura Ingraham praising these athletes for their “infectious courage.” “The stigma has moved from Maga to anti-maga,...

With over 50 million people early voting in the 2024 Presidential Election, Tuesday night will offer plenty of results to thumb through even if an ultimate winner isn’t called until later in the week, and most of the news networks will kick off their election night coverage at 6 p.m. Et, with CNN even starting at 12 a.m. Et while NBC News begins at 5 p.m. Et.

MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki will return to the Big Board — and will even be livestreamed on Peacock and other social platforms — while Fox News will see Bill Hemmer steering the “Bill”-board.

Most networks have scheduled eight hours of election night programming from 6 p.m. Et to 2 a.m. Et, with a result for the presidential showdown between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump not expected immediately.

“Get A Life, Man”: Joe Biden Chides Donald Trump For Spreading Hurricane Misinformation
Image
As he provided an update on the federal response to hurricanes Milton and Helene, President Joe Biden also again called out misinformation that has been spread about the disasters, singling out Donald Trump for making false claims.

Asked whether he had spoken to Trump about it, Biden told reporters, “Are you kidding me? Mr. President Trump, former President Trump, get a life, man. Help these people.”

The president then said that he doesn’t plan on speaking to Trump and that voters and journalists should hold the former president accountable.

Trump has spread false claims that federal disaster resources have been depleted because they were diverted to the border. In fact, Biden said, Fema has enough initial money to assist those impacted, but he said that Small Business Administration resources were running out. He called for congressional action and suggested that lawmakers come back from recess to address the back-to-back national disasters.

Seth Meyers Mocks Trump Getting Fact-Checked by Laura Ingraham: ‘Like Getting Fashion Advice From Kevin Smith’ | Video
Image
Donald Trump once again lied about the Biden administration’s response to Hurricane Helene over the weekend, but he was once again fact-checked for it — by Fox News host Laura Ingraham. And that surprised Seth Meyers a bit on Tuesday night.

While doing an interview on “The Ingraham Angle” on Saturday, Trump tried to accuse Vice President Harris of going to campaign fundraisers instead of being on the ground in North Carolina to help with relief efforts.

Ingraham immediately corrected him though, telling him that Harris was in North Carolina that very day, for several hours.

“Imagine being such a liar that you get fact-checked by Laura Ingraham. That’s like getting fashion advice from Kevin Smith,” Meyers joked, pulling up a photo of the “Clerks” star in one of his signature oversized jackets.

“And I love you, dude. You know I love you,” Meyers continued. “You look like an 8-year-old with a court date.

Former President Donald Trump will be interviewed by the Fox News Channel’s prime-time host Laura Ingraham during a campaign rally this weekend, the network said in a statement on Friday.

The conversation will take place at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, marking Trump’s first visit to the city since a gunman tried to assassinate him there in July.

During the interview, Trump is expected to discuss his feelings about being back in Butler since the assassination attempt and respond to other current events, including the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which has become one of the deadliest storms of its kind in the United States.

Ingraham will also offer a behind-the-scenes look at how the U.S. Secret Service prepared...

The 11 Best ‘SNL’ Political Skits…And Counting
Image
Saturday Night Live’s landmark 50th season will kick off nearly over a month ahead of the 2024 presidential election with plenty of material for its cold opens and other political skits.

With Maya Rudolph returning to portray Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris, its likely that James Austin Johnson will portray Donald Trump and or Joe Biden in parodies of the candidates. Doug Emhoff (who has been portrayed in the past by Martin Short) and Vice President Tim Walz will also likely receive parodies, though Short’s Only Murders in the Building costar Steve Martin has declined the ask to portray Walz.

The first five consecutive SNL shows’ hosts and musical guests have been announced, and given the volume and talent of cast members over the years, a look back at political parodies by hosts, guests and members of the comedy ensemble can be found below.

Fox News Media has become the first broadcaster to announce a plan to simulcast the CBS News vice presidential debate when it airs next month.

The debate, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 1, will pit Republican Party nominee Senator J. D. Vance and Democratic Party nominee Governor Tim Walz in their only scheduled television debate of the 2024 presidential race.

As was the case with the two presidential debates hosted by CNN and ABC News earlier this year, CBS is offering other broadcasters the opportunity to simulcast its television debate. The simulcast rules will be revealed in the coming days, but are expected to be substantially similar to the guidelines offered by CNN and ABC.

Fox News Can Avoid Labeling Commentary Shows ‘Opinion,’ SEC Rules
Image
The line between opinion shows and ones rooted in fact can remain blurry at Fox News Channel, the SEC has ruled — or rather, viewers will have to determine where that line falls themselves.

The SEC has said that Fox News does not need to clearly label its commentary shows as “opinion” to differentiate them from their more straightforward news broadcasts. An activist investor named John Chevedden, who’s made a name for himself by routinely submitting petitions to try to affect change in major companies, petitioned Fox News to label its shows accordingly. (Chevedden had made a similar petition in 2023 that he withdrew before the shareholder meeting that year.)

Chevedden believes there is a legally protective reason to do so: Following the $787.5-million settlement the cable channel reached with Dominion about untrue claims regarding its voting machines that Fox News anchors (such as Tucker Carlson) had made on-air, such a...

Ted Lasso: Every Real Life Footballer The Characters Are Based On
Image
There are several Ted Lasso characters based on real football players. The Apple TV+ series became an instant hit after the release of season 1. Ted Lasso is the streaming platform's most beloved series and was the most nominated first-season comedy in Emmy history. Part of the success comes from the fact that the show pulled its inspiration for its titular character from real life, as the show was in part inspired by real-world figures from the world of football like Fc Liverpool manager Jrgen Klopp.

Likewise, while Ted Lasso's AFC Richmond may not be a real football team, the fictional team and its players are informed by several professional footballers and real football clubs. These real-world influences ground the show in reality while embracing the silly premise. Sudeikis and Hunt reportedly spent time playing FIFA video games, where each gamer's team consists of real-life professional football players. The show's creators...

Nancy Pelosi Seeks To Soothe DNC Over Biden Ouster, Condemns Trump Over Jan. 6 Assault On The Capitol & Democracy

Kamala Harris is the candidate, but Nancy Pelosi’s hold on the party is still strong, as the Speaker Emerita made clear Wednesday at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

“I know that Vice President Harris is ready to take us to new heights,” said the longtime congresswoman from California’s 11th district in a primetime address to a packed United Center, one day before the first Black woman ever nominated for president by a major American political party takes the same stage. “Politically, she is astute and strategic in winning difficult elections, quickly securing the nomination with dignity and grace and choosing Tim Walz as our vice president,” Pelosi added in the highest praise possible for such a political grandmaster.

In that context, in the complicated factions of the Democratic Party, Pelosi’s daughter put it best when she tweeted tonight:

John Oliver Notes Donald Trump “Turned Christian” in 2020 While Discussing Kamala Harris Race Controversy
Image
John Oliver is weighing in on the controversy surrounding Donald Trump after he questioned Vice President Kamala Harris’s racial identity by pointing out that the former president and Republican candidate “turned Christian” when he was running for office for a second time.

The host of Last Week Tonight opened the show on Sunday by discussing Trump’s appearance last week at the National Association of Black Journalists conference in Chicago, where he answered a question from a ballroom stage by saying that Harris, who is of Jamaican and Indian heritage, had only spoken of the latter when “she happened to turn Black.”

“She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage,” Trump said on July 31. “I didn’t know she was Black, until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know,...
