‘Nobody Wants This’ Casting Team Used Clips of Adam Brody and Kristen Bell’s Past Projects: ‘Everyone Could See the Chemistry Right Away’
Image
Brett Greenstein and Collin Daniel of Greenstein/Daniel Casting are responsible for some of TV’s most joyous ensembles, from the Hulu comedy “Shrill” to Netflix’s “Never Have I Ever.” Stil, Daniel says that their latest project – the Netflix rom-com “Nobody Wants This” – is a new experience. “It’s the biggest hit show we’ve ever done, and it’s thrilling to see its worldwide success,” says Daniel.

Created by Erin Foster, the series stars Kristen Bell and Adam Brody as a seemingly mismatched couple – she’s an agnostic host of a sex podcast, he’s a Rabbi. Though the two share immediate chemistry, they have to overcome their differences and the skepticism of friends and family to navigate the new relationship. Much of the show hinges on the chemistry of the two leads, and Bell and Brody have worked together before in the films “Scream 4”, “CHiPs”, and...

‘Awards Chatter’ Live Pod: Adam Brody on His Journey From ‘The O.C.’ to ‘Nobody Wants This’ — and Getting Some Respect
Image
Adam Brody has returned to The O.C. — or at least, to the O.C.!

The beloved actor, who first made his name as teen Seth Cohen on the hit Fox series of that name, which ran from 2003-07, returned to the titular region of California on Friday to accept the inaugural Newport Beach TV Fest’s Performer of the Year Award (Actor) for his portrayal of a rabbi on the Netflix rom-com Nobody Wants This, his biggest hit since The O.C. went off the air. First, though, he recorded an episode of THR‘s Awards Chatter podcast in front of an audience of adoring fans — including his wife, Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester — which you can hear below.

Brody, who was born in San Diego, moved to Los Angeles, more or less spontaneously, around his 19th birthday, stepping away from a job at Blockbuster and dreams of a career as a pro surfer.

Comedy TV Writers on the Importance of Filming in Los Angeles, Sharing Soundstages and the Power of the Will They/Won’t They Relationship
Image
For “Nobody Wants This” creator/executive producer Erin Foster, when it came time to figure out where to shoot her Netflix comedy “Nobody Wants This,” she had some leverage in her back pocket: Star Kristen Bell.

“Shooting in L.A. is hard and really expensive,” Foster told the audience on Thursday at Variety’s A Night in the Writers Room event. “We were only able to shoot in L.A. because Kristen Bell has kids here that are in school here. And she’s like, ‘I won’t shoot anywhere else.’”

Foster said Netflix and 20th TV, which is behind “Nobody Wants This,” quickly agreed. “They’re like, ‘well, then we’re shooting where you want to shoot,’” she told the A Night in the Writers’ Room audience. “We got very lucky that she wants to be home with her kids. She wants to come to work, she wants to live in LA.

Justine Lupe on the unexpected chemistries that power Netflix’s ‘Nobody Wants This’
Image
For any good rom-com, chemistry is key, as Netflix's smash hit series Nobody Wants This so delightfully demonstrates. But it isn’t just the romantic relationship between leading love interests Joanne (Kristin Bell) and Noah (Adam Brody) that gives the show its spark: The crackling repartee between sisters and podcasting partners Joanne and Morgan (Justine Lupe) — calling each other out with affection, mostly — proved just as crucial to the show's appeal, and that special alchemy was almost instantaneous.

"I've got to be honest: I feel like it happened pretty quickly!" Lupe told Gold Derby at a recent FYC event for the series at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, where she and castmates Bell, Brody, Timothy Simons and Jackie Tohn joined series creator Erin Foster and her sister Sara Foster, also a producer on the show, to record an episode of their own real-life podcast.

"I think Kristen's such an incredible actress,...

Erin Foster on Netflix’s ‘Nobody Wants This’: ‘I didn’t write this chasing a trend — I wrote the story I wanted to tell’
Image
After its debut last September, Netflix’s Nobody Wants This quickly turned into one of the year’s buzziest and most beloved new series. The woman behind the show, Erin Foster, says when creating the series that stars Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, she set aside any expectations and simply followed her heart.

“I didn’t write this pilot for anybody else,” she tells Gold Derby. “I didn’t write it for someone else’s taste. I wasn’t listening to criticism or chasing a trend. I just wrote the story that I wanted to tell in my style of writing.”

That authenticity is precisely what’s resonated with audiences — and with critics. Nobody Wants This recently picked up multiple nominations across key awards, including a Critics’ Choice win for Brody, and is in strong contention to land Emmy nominations.

Foster credits the show’s success to her decision to...

‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 2 Premiere Date Set at Netflix
Image
After months of speculation, the Season 2 premiere date of Netflix's hit romantic comedy, Nobody Wants This, has been revealed. And it's exactly when we thought it might be — the streamer just waited for the Kristen Bell and Adam Brody-starring show to have its For Your Consideration moment in order to announce it officially. The show's executive producers and cast made the premiere date known on Sunday on stage at Netflix's Fysee Emmy event celebrating Season 1 in Los Angeles.

In news that was also revealed via press release (but we first saw in The Hollywood Reporter), Nobody Wants This will see its Season 2 premiere on October 23, 2025. It's an exciting development for fans of the series, which hit the streaming service in late 2024 but became an instant success thanks to its likable cast and fantastic writing. In a world that tends to under-serve and under-appreciate romantic comedies, Nobody Wants This is a gift.

‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 2 Netflix Premiere Date Revealed, Creator Promises ‘Romantic and Funny’ Outing
Image
Netflix know that a lot of somebodies want this. The second season of “Nobody Wants This” will premiere October 23. The show first dropped on the streamer last September to sparkling reviews, with IndieWire’s Proma Khosla praising the chemistry between leads Kristen Bell and Adam Brody.

The show, created by Erin Foster, finds Joanne and Noah (Brody) in a would-be conventional love story complicated by Noah’s position as a rabbi. Popular podcaster Joanne isn’t just not Jewish, she’s also unreligious generally — as is her entire non-traditional family. As Noah and Joanne attempt to acclimate to each other’s worlds, and Joanne explores converting, things get complicated — to put it lightly.

“Nobody Wants This” was renewed back in October, but the drop date was not revealed until the June 1 Netflix Fysee L.A. Emmy event at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles. The evening featured a screening of...

Leighton Meester Reveals Why She and Adam Brody Chose Not to Have a Big Wedding
Image
It’s safe to assume Leighton Meester doesn’t look at her relationship with Adam Brody through such an iconic lens as maybe everyone else does.

On the outside, fans see the stars of two of the biggest shows from the early aughts — Gossip Girl and The O.C. — ended up together in real life, but to them, their relationship is actually much more low-key. It’s one of the reasons why Meester said they opted for a smaller wedding.

“On sets and in life, I’ve been able to wear a fancy dress and hit a mark and say lines, and I didn’t want it to feel like that,” she recently told Bustle. “I wanted it to feel intimate and private.”

Meester and Brody — who share a daughter and son together — tied the knot in a private wedding in 2014, and have continued to keep much of their personal life out of the spotlight.

"I'm Not in the Business of Depriving People": 'Nobody Wants This' Creator Teases a Satisfying Season 2
Image
There will be more to love when Netflix’s smash-hit rom-com, Nobody Wants This, returns for Season 2. Creator Erin Foster spoke to IndieWire about what fans can expect when unconventional lovers Noah (Adam Brody) and Joanne (Kristen Bell) make it back to the small screen. Foster based the show on her own relationship with her husband, as the show follows a Rabbi who falls in love with a podcaster with no religious affiliation. Nobody Wants This was a match made in early aughts nostalgia heaven with the casting of Brody and Bell, and viewers can expect more of the same when the show returns, as Foster shared with the outlet.

“It’s gonna be romantic and funny. I’m not in the business of depriving people of what they want on a show like this, and making some like, artistic choice to rob you of what you want to see.

Season 2 of Netflix’s Nobody Wants This has wrapped filming, and the confirmation came alongside exciting behind-the-scenes photos. Heartthrob actors Kristen Bell and Adrian Brody made a comeback last year with the release of Nobody Wants This, a great Netflix romantic comedy about a Rabbi named Noah and an atheist sex podcaster named Joanne falling in love. Series creator Erin Foster has just wrapped the second season of her Netflix smash hit, “Nobody Wants This.” No, really, just: the team behind the Adam Brody- and Kristen Bell-starring romantic comedy, based on Foster’s own life and marriage, called cut Monday night at midnight, LA time. Eleven hours later, Foster was on Zoom with IndieWire to talk about the success of the first season of the show and to tease as much as humanly possible about what’s going to unspool in the upcoming, and much-anticipated sophomore season.

Right away, Foster has a promise and a vow: it’s going to be more of what people love. And why shouldn’t it be? The show, which hit the streamer last fall, was an instant hit (hitting the number one slot on Netflix’s own lists within its first full week in release and earning glowing critical...

Netflix is launching its own two-week TV festival to toast its hit series, this year moving it to Los Angeles.

The studio announced the inaugural fest, titled Fysee LA, that will take place across Los Angeles from May 17 to June 2. Kristen Bell never anticipated everybody loving ‘Nobody Wants This’: ‘There’s so few times in your career when you feel that lightning thing’
Image
Kristen Bell remembers the moment she had an inkling that Nobody Wants This might hit different. Screeners of the Netflix rom-com series had been sent out to press over the summer prior to its Sept. 26 launch.

"I started getting calls like, 'We've never seen a response this rabid from critics before,'" Bell tells Gold Derby. "So that immediately changed what our press tour looked like. They were like, 'Well, you're gonna do quite a bit more press than you thought you were going to do. So please block off the entire month of August and the entire month of September to get out in front of the show because we think it could be a real hit.'"

And it was. The series became an immediate sensation its first weekend and was quickly renewed for a second season. For Bell, a veteran of beloved but little-watched shows like Veronica Mars and The Good Place,...

Which Celebrity Beauty and Fashion Brands Are Actually Sustainable? Not Many …
Image
The past few years have seen an explosion of celebrity brands, producing everything from tequila to lipstick to luggage. But few of the top celeb-fronted companies are earning high scores for sustainability, if a review of the eco-ratings platform Good on You is to be believed.

Founded in Australia in 2015, Good on You judges fashion and beauty companies across the globe according to three main criteria: people (labor practices), planet (environmental initiatives) and animals (welfare). Performance in each of these areas contributes to an overall rating, ranging from “Great” (a 5/5 rating) to “We avoid” (1/5). More than 6,000 brands have been rated so far, with staffers generally endeavoring to update scores every 12 to 18 months to judge progress (or backsliding, as the case may be).

At a moment when the famous are increasingly shilling their own consumer goods, The Hollywood Reporter scoured the platform for dozens of well-known celebrity brand names. Only 14 had...

Nobody Wants This creator seems to hint at season 3 plans in new interview
Image
We already know Netflix’s hit comedy Nobody Wants This is coming back for a second season, but it seems the show’s creator is already looking ahead to season 3!

Speaking with People at the 2025 Fashion Scholarship Fund Gala in New York City on April 7, Nobody Wants This creator Erin Foster seemed to hint that a third season is already in the works when discussing a possible cameo on the show.

"I always thought that it'd be fun to do that, but I never created a character that I thought was the perfect character,” Foster told People when asked about making a cameo in the hit Netflix series. “Maybe season 3, Morgan [Justine Lupe] and Joanne [Kristen Bell] go on sabbatical and then it's us," she added, referring to her sister, Sara Foster, who serves as an executive producer on the show.

While we love the cameo idea, what stands out...

Speaking at the 2025 Fashion Scholarship Fund Gala, Erin said the idea of appearing on the show has come up before but hasn’t moved forward. “I always thought that it’d be fun to do that, but I never created a character that I thought was the perfect character,” she told People.

Sara, who serves as an executive producer on the series, chimed in with a suggestion. “[Sisters] Morgan [Justine Lupe] and Joanne [Kristen Bell] go on sabbatical and then it’s us.” Erin responded, “Oh, we just replace them.”

Erin Foster Hints at ‘Nobody Wants This’ Cameo in Season 3
Image
Erin Foster might show up in an episode of the hit Netflix series “Nobody Wants This” — if she or her sister Sara, the show’s executive producer, can come up with the right character and storyline.

While speaking to People at the 2025 Fashion Scholarship Fund Gala, Erin, who created the series for the streamer, said, “I always thought that it’d be fun to do that, but I never created a character that I thought was the perfect character.”

“Maybe season 3, [sisters] Morgan [Justine Lupe] and Joanne [Kristen Bell] go on sabbatical and then it’s us,” her sister offered to which Erin answered, “Oh, we just replace them.”

“Nobody Wants This” was inspired by Erin’s actual life with her husband Simon Tikhman. The series follows the love story of rabbi Noah (Adam Brody) and agnostic sex podcaster Joanne (Bell) as they navigate religion, culture, and trying to build a relationship that has legs.

'Nobody Wants This' Season 2 May Hit Netflix In October 2025
Image
Netflix's hit comedy, the Adam Brody and Kristen Bell-starring Nobody Wants This, is well into production on the series' second installment. And, given the popularity of the "loosely based on a true story" tale from Erin Foster, it's probably no surprise to anyone that the streaming service is eyeing an Asap release date for Season 2. With production slated to wrap in April of this year, it seems as though a primetime, fall release date is a given for the popular series.

According to the blog What's On Netflix, the streamer is allegedly eyeing an October 2025 premiere date for the show's second season. Which will no doubt be music to the ears of the users who helped contribute to Nobody Wants This amassing approximately 56.8 million views in 2024 alone. While Netflix has yet to confirm anything, we would not be surprised if it makes all of this official when they...

Kim Kardashian has always left us stunned with her fashion affair be it at the Met Gala or any event. Apart from Kardashian, the event was also attended by Sara and Erin Foster, jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, Jamie Mizrahi (stylist), model Yasmin Ghauri, and others. Even though Ghauri and Kardashian chose the same outfit for the night, the model went for the original look from the Christian Dior Spring/Summer 1988 Paris Fashion Week runaway. On the other hand, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star customized it in her method of styling. Scroll...

Adam Brody Teases “Repercussions” For Rabbi Noah In ‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 2 Following Move To Prioritize Love Over Work
Image
After debuting to critical and popular acclaim last September, Netflix’s rom-com series Nobody Wants This is getting very close to the start of production on Season 2. So what can star Adam Brody tease?

“Very little,” he admitted tonight, in conversation with Deadline on the SAG Awards red carpet. “I think repercussions from [Noah] choosing maybe love over work. He’s going to grapple with that. That’s about as much as I know, to be honest with you.”

Created by and exec produced by Erin Foster, Nobody Wants This explores the unconventional romance between Joanne, a candid agnostic podcaster portrayed by Kristen Bell, and Brody’s unconventional rabbi, Noah Roklov. Inspired by Foster’s relationship with husband Simon Tikhman, the show’s Season 1 finale saw Noah at a crossroads, as Joanne decided, after much contemplation, against converting to Judaism, in a move that leads to the couple’s breakup.
