Snow White isn’t even out yet, but for some time, it has been one of Disney’s most controversial outings. A lot of things seemingly went wrong with the film, and while the early reviews are very positive, the movie still doesn’t look like a hit for Disney, although that might change.
Be that as it may, the lead actress, Rachel Zegler, was in the midst of most of the controversies surrounding the movie and whichever side you’re taking, you have to admit that it was not hard for the young actress to endure so much pressure. Yet, as it seems, she got some star-level support from a colleague!

Wicked co-screenwriter Dana Fox revealed that the second part in the saga, Wicked: For Good, will go even deeper in exploring Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda's (Ariane Grande) relationship with one another. Speaking with Screen Rant at the Writer's Guild of America awards, Fox explained that For Good will expand upon the second act of the original Broadway musical, which is considered by some to be less exciting than act one. Fox stated:
"Part Two actually has a little bit more room to be able to explore. Part One was pretty packed in terms of what was in the first act of the play, and all the things we knew we had to do. We explored, we deepened, and we tried to give you moments that you didn't have in the play... But in the second movie, there's a little bit more space for interpretation and space to go...

Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande have squashed any bad blood — for good.
Ahead of “SNL50: The Anniversary Celebration,” Davidson told Page Six that he and Grande don’t see each other that often, but when they do, things are friendly. “When we see each other, which is few and far between, because we’re not in the same circles, it’s all love,” he said. “I’ve had some pretty adult relationships with some pretty amazing women, and when it’s ended it’s been cool.”
Davidson added that he hopes his ex-fiancée, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her supporting performance as Glinda the Good in “Wicked,” wins big on awards night: “I hope she wins the Oscar, I hope she takes the gold.”
Grande and Davidson began dating in May of 2018, getting engaged a month later in June and ultimately calling things off in October after a four-month engagement.

With the 1939 classic “The Wizard of Oz” forever ingrained in pop culture history, seven-time Oscar-nominated production designer Nathan Crowley knew it was the necessary starting place to develop “Wicked.”
At the Variety FYC screening presented by Universal, Crowley told Clayton Davis, Variety’s senior awards editor, about his close collaboration with director Jon M. Chu, who recently won the Critics Choice Award for best director.

Ariana Grande has been the talk of Hollywood lately thanks to her standout performance as Glinda the Good in last year's Wicked. This awards season, she's up for multiple trophies, including Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards, where she'll compete against the likes of Zoe Saldaña and Isabella Rossellini, to name a couple. Her stock has risen so much that now the former Nickelodeon star is apparently being offered a slew of roles, including one in the upcoming Spaceballs 2.
According to a new in-depth profile on Grande published by The Hollywood Reporter, the actress and singer is so hot right now following the success of Wicked that she's been approached about numerous follow-up roles. These include, the profile says, "a disaster wedding comedy, a female detective romp set in a Housewives-style reality show, and a Spaceballs sequel." However, Grande, now 31, isn't too eager to just accept anything that comes her way.

A few days ago, a rumor sent the internet into a frenzy when it was reported that Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande would perform a medley from “Wicked” to open the Oscars next month. Variety asked Erivo about the rumor at the Critics Choice Awards, and while she said, “I don’t know where this has come from,” the rumors have still been circulating since.
Last night, at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, IndieWire caught up with Grande, who was accepting the Virtuoso Award alongside fellow honorees Selena Gomez, Fernanda Torres, Mikey Madison, Sebastian Stan, Clarence Maclin, Monica Barbaro, John Magaro, Harris Dickinson, and Kieran Culkin. “What did Cynthia say?,” Grande asked with a laugh upon being asked about opening this year’s Academy Awards.
After IndieWire told her that Erivo doesn’t know where the rumor came from, Grande said, slyly, “Yeah, I don’t know either. It would be really fun.

“Defying Gravity” is the defining moment of Wicked, serving as the showstopping climax to the movie musical that has racked up 10 Oscar nominations, including for Best Picture, editing, visual effects, and sound. Three of those nominees — film editor Myron Kerstein, visual effects supervisor Pablo Helman, and production sound mixer Simon Hayes — sat down with Gold Derby to spill the tea on “Defying Gravity,” explaining how the magical moment came together. Watch the full interview above.
“The outpouring of love [is] amazing,” says Kerstein of learning about his Oscar nod. Helman notes how the “big family” atmosphere of Wicked comes from the top with director Jon M. Chu. And Hayes recalls getting congratulatory texts from friends he hadn’t “seen for 30 years.”
The “Defying Gravity” song was performed live on set by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande (as Glinda the Good Witch), which provided its own unique challenges for the filmmaking team.

Following reportedly being escorted from the Grammy's red carpet after his wife's nude interlude, Kanye West has been a polarizing presence on X/Twitter. The tirade has been ongoing in the days since the event, with almost no end to the controversial comments. The tweets have been antisemitic, with the rapper referring to himself as a "Nazi" and making multiple disparaging comments about members of the Jewish community. In one of his most recent posts, West wrote, "The Jews Claim To Be So Oppressed Then Try To Oppress Me And Elons Freedom Of Speech." “I’m gonna win that Oscar!,” Jon M. Chu quipped while accepting Best Director for “Wicked” at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards. “I’m not nominated, I’m not nominated,” he said, waving away a laughing crowd.

Fame is a fickle thing. And isn’t that the truth? One moment you’re basking in the limelight, and the next, you’re awkwardly squirming under a spotlight that’s more ugh than wow. The Critics Choice Awards 2025 gave us all the glamour you expect from a Hollywood affair, but wait…there were moments that made us collectively cringe and laugh at the same time.

Most stars struck exactly the right style notes at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards. Playful reigned over too formal or fussy, while men and women alike balanced looks that felt equal parts chic and relaxed. Indeed, as for the guys, there was nary a tie in sight — Nicole Kidman, meanwhile, in a menswear-inspired Saint Laurent look, went for the tie and looked terrific.
This event at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar was postponed twice due to the wildfires that raged throughout Los Angeles County in January, and several of the night’s looks may have been more recent decisions as part of a desire to not seem too overdressed in light of recent events. Even for the haute-couture or custom pieces that were a bit more over the top in their craft or silhouette, they still exuded a whimsical vibe that prevented them from feeling too stiff or serious — in other words,...

Chelsea Handler didn’t hold back in her opening monologue for the 2025 Critics Choice Awards.
For the comedian’s third time as the Critics Choice Awards’ host, she poked fun at numerous celebrities, including Justin Baldoni, Blake Lively, Colin Farrell, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Nicole Kidman and more. And she took a moment to address the ongoing legal battle between Baldoni and Lively.
“I want to acknowledge that we’ve been through a lot lately, not just here in Los Angeles, but our entire country, waking up every day not knowing what news we are going to hear that will disappoint or horrify us,” Handler said, before adding, “So, it is important in times like these to have a distraction, and that’s why I want to personally extend my gratitude to Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively. Thank you for providing us with that distraction. I’m grateful. I think we’re all grateful.

Self-described “Dei host” Chelsea Handler emceed the Critics Choice Awards on Friday for the third year in a row, and while she addressed the devastating wildfires and tackled politics (including a swipe at first lady Melania Trump), Handler shied away from the topic that was on everyone’s mind: Karla Sofía Gascón.
The Best Actress nominee’s offensive social media posts about such topics as Muslims, George Floyd, and diversity at the Oscars were unearthed last week by a journalist, causing the Emilia Pérez awards campaign to be derailed. Gascón previously announced that she wouldn’t attend the Critics Choice ceremony and other awards-related events. She’s also up for an Oscar next month, and made history there as the first openly transgender person ever nominated in Best Actress.

The 2025 Oscars are set to start on a high note with a special performance by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as reported by Puck News. The two stars will open the ceremony with a medley from ‘Wicked,’ one of the most successful movie adaptations of the beloved Broadway musical.
While ‘Wicked’s’ songs aren’t eligible for Best Original Song at the Oscars, Grande and her co-star Cynthia Erivo said in the best they would love to perform at the ceremony. “Of course, we love singing with each other,” Grande said. “I’ll sing together absolutely anywhere anytime, especially in celebration of Wicked, and I love her, that’s my sister. Say the word and we’ll be there.”
Even though at this moment this is unconfirmed other industry insiders are reporting the same thing, some with disappointment.

Ahead of a busy weekend on the awards circuit — the Critics Choice Awards, the PGA Awards, the DGA Awards — a veritable Hollywood who’s-who gathered on Thursday to celebrate the American Film Institute’s 10 finest films and television shows of 2024 in a luncheon event rescheduled from a month due to the devastating series of fires that ravaged the Los Angeles area.
And while there were quiet murmurings here and there about Emilia Pérez and the controversy enveloping its star Karla Sofia Gascón, the film was received with warm applause, if not an overabundance of enthusiasm, when it came time to play a clip. The movie was represented at the lunch by director Jacques Audiard, stars Zoe Saldaña, Edgar Ramirez, and Adriana Paz, and composers/songwriters Clément Ducol and Camille. Gascón, unsurprisingly, was a no-show, reportedly holed up in her native Spain after being sidelined by Netflix.

For some, hosting Saturday Night Live can be a struggle. For others, they're naturals and fit in seamlessly with the cast. Current SNL cast member picked one recent host he thinks is good enough to join the show permanently.
Not everyone takes to performing in front of a live audience or has the comedic timing needed to really stand out on Saturday Night Live. It makes you appreciate the ones who can, especially when they don't have a traditional background conducive to sketch comedy.
But if you ask Mikey Day, singer and actress Ariana Grande could be a Saturday Night Live cast member today. Day quickly named the recent Oscar nominee during an SNL panel for The Howard Stern Show.

The Nickelodeon sitcom Victorious is getting a spinoff series featuring one original star. The news comes after the original show ended its run on Nickelodeon 12 years ago.
Originally, Victorious ran for four seasons between 2010 and 2013. Per Deadline, it now has a second spinoff in development with Daniella Monet set to reprise her role as Trina Vega. The project is in development under the working title Hollywood Arts, which could end up changing. Casting is now said to be underway to find co-stars for Monet, and as of now, no other cast members from Victorious are reported as being involved. It would seem that special appearances are not out of the question, but nothing is confirmed.

“Victorious” has another spinoff in the works, with Daniella Monet set to reprise her role as Trina Vega in a multi-cam Nickelodeon comedy with the working title “Hollywood Arts,” Variety has confirmed.
The series, which is in development and has not yet been greenlit, will follow Trina as she returns to her old stomping grounds to teach students at the fictional Los Angeles performing arts high school. It would mark the second spinoff of “Victorious,” following “Sam & Cat,” starring Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande.
Casting is underway for the spinoff, and it’s unclear whether any other “Victorious” stars — including Victoria Justice — will reprise their roles in “Hollywood Arts.”
Monet, who starred in all four seasons of “Victorious” as the older sister to Justice’s Tori Vega, will executive produce the spinoff alongside Jake Farrow (who was a writer-producer on “Victorious” and “Sam & Cat”) and Samantha Martin.

Exclusive: The Victorious universe is eying further expansion with a second spinoff series, Hollywood Arts (working title). Starring Daniella Monet, who will reprise her role as Trina Vega, the multi-camera comedy is in fast-track development at Nickelodeon, with early casting getting underway, sources tell Deadline.
Produced by Nickelodeon, Hollywood Arts follows Trina returning to her old stomping grounds as the newest teacher at Hollywood’s most elite performing arts school.
Monet serves as an executive producer alongside writers/executive producers Jake Farrow — who was a writer-producer on both Victorious and offshoot Sam & Cat and also voiced Robbie’s puppet Rex Powers on Victorious — and Samantha Martin (Nick’s Henry Danger and The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder).
Victorious creator Dan Schneider, who parted ways with Nickelodeon in 2018, has no involvement in the spinoff. His Nick tenure has been under scrutiny, including in the docuseries Quiet On Set whose producers he is suing for defamation.

There are many actors who get jobs that fit them like a glove. Although a surprising cast choice, Ariana Grande turned out to be one of the best things in Wicked, and her commitment to the project is undeniable.
Although Ariana Grande began her career on Broadway in the musical 13, she is universally known for her pop star persona, which includes multiple hits and successes. However, she's a theater kid at heart and her deepest desire was to be a part of Wicked. In 2024, she got her wish, as she played Glinda in the 2024 film and the upcoming part two, Wicked: for Good, and revealed at an FYC event moderated by Billie Eilish that she had a series of nonnegotiable changes to the film, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Even if you ask Ariana Grande to sing a joke song, you’re going to walk away with something incredible. That’s the lesson Jimmy Kimmel learned on Wednesday night when he asked the “Wicked” star to take a crack at his “Wing It and Sing It” segment, which asks guests to sing a song with lyrics they’ve never seen before.
Before the music even started, Grande was up for the challenge, happily telling Kimmel, “It’s too late. I can’t turn back.” That confidence shone through as soon as the piano started and Kimmel started to flash the words to her. Right away, it was clear the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” team had a theme in mind as nearly every verse contained a joke about how small the pop star is. Yet somehow Grande was able to make lyrics as silly as “I’m a human baby carrot...

Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande were a buddy comedy come to life Tuesday night, holding court following a special Wicked screening for Hollywood awards voters. The duo, who are longtime friends and mutual admirers, delighted attendees with a Q&a session-turned-lovefest that touched on Eilish’s longtime fandom of Grande (she has receipts!), their desire to do a musical collab, and something about bugs that we’re still trying to puzzle out.
In any case, here are the four greatest moments from the Eilish-Grande summit.

At the outset, the two repeatedly — and adorably — proclaimed their love for each other. Grande said Eilish was “my dream person” to moderate the event. Eilish then revealed that she was an Og Ariana fan and that there were multiple instances, including a 2014 YouTube interview of Grande’s, where you can still see a comment from a young Billie Eilish declaring,...

With the “Wicked” press tour becoming a production of its own, star Ariana Grande has had plenty of opportunities to convey the gravity of playing Galinda in the film adaptation of the blockbuster Broadway musical.
But she’s had few chances to nerd out about the array of technical elements that went into her performance. So when given a moment to discuss how she reformed her singing voice from pop-r&b superstar, past her Broadway baseline, into a full-on coloratura soprano, the Oscar nominee literally jumped at the chance to take to the whiteboard of a medium-sized conference room within the IndieWire office to draw an illustrative diagram of her vocal cords.

When wildfires rage across California, the devastation is heartbreaking. Homes are lost, families are displaced, and entire communities are left picking up the pieces. But amidst the ashes, acts of kindness shine the brightest. And this time, one of those acts came from none other than Meghan Markle and her Archewell Foundation.

Ariana Grande dipping her toes into music was nothing less than a revolution in itself. It didn’t take her long to rule the industry and establish herself as one of the most influential pop artists of this generation. With her powerful vocals and unbelievable high notes, her fame is well-deserved. Thus, it is quite surprising that someone of her caliber has only won a Grammy twice, and one of those two times was a collaboration with Lady Gaga.

2025 is already a great year for Wicked, and part two, Wicked: For Good, is nine months away. After a series of exciting Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, the adaptation of the beloved musical has reached yet another box office milestone.
Following the film's release on Nov. 22, Wicked has enchanted the world. Jon M. Jon M. Chu's musical "Wizard of Oz" riff "Wicked," based on the pop-u-lar Broadway musical by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman, wasn't terribly well-reviewed in the pages of /Film, cited by this author as being a mushy mess, led by two weirdly dispassionate lead performances from Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. The review pondered why Chu, who ordinarily can make exciting, energetic musicals like "Step Up 3D" and "In the Heights," decided to let himself be upstaged by busy production design and dull, eternally retreaded fantasy mythology.
My review, however, is certainly the outlier on "Wicked." On January 23, Chu's film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress (for Erivo), Best Supporting Actress (for Grande), and Best Production Design. The film was also generally well-reviewed, earning an 88% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes (based on 380 reviews). Cynthia Erivo is just like us: She can’t wait until November 2025 to see the next (and final) installment of the Wicked films. The actress stopped by The Hollywood Reporter‘s studio at Park City and let slip that she’s still waiting to get her eyes on Part 2. “I’ve seen the smallest amount,” she admitted. “But not in situ. I know it’s being edited now, but [Jon M. Chu] won’t us see it yet. I’m going to force my way into the editing room. I’m not waiting that long to watch this movie.”

A sentimental man indeed, Jeff Goldblum has announced a new jazz album with The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. Titled Still Blooming, the project is set for release on April 25th. The actor and instrumentalist has teased the LP by sharing his take on “The Best Is Yet to Come,” which features Scarlett Johansson; stream it below.
