The following contains spoilers for Dream Productions, now streaming on Disney+Dream Productions quietly includes a harsh critique of film and television in the 21st century. Dream Productions is set within the universe of Inside Out. While the story remains focused on Riley and expands the timeline of Inside Out, the show also works as a stand-alone parody of film production. This allows the show to poke fun at plenty of aspects of the movie-making business, as well as the emotional impact it can have on the creatives who shape the stories that entertain Riley in-universe (and audiences in the real world).
Sadly, this gives additional weight to one of the show's more somber tweaks to Inside Out's world. Within the universe of Inside Out, the living emotions and lingering memories can be lost or forgotten, blinking out of existence when they do. It set up the saddest moment...

Inside Out gets a new fan-made, live-action concept trailer, imagining Sadie Sink and Jenna Ortega in lead roles. Released in 2015, Inside Out hails from directors Pete Doctor and Ronnie Del Carmen, with a story that follows Riley and her various emotions most notably Amy Poehler's Joy as she moves to a city and new school. After the first film was a major hit with audiences and critics alike, Riley's story continued in Disney's Inside Out 2, which hit theaters earlier this summer and introduced a handful of new animated characters.
Multiverse of Movies now imagines what Inside Out would look like if it made the jump to live-action with an AI-generated concept trailer. The trailer features a mix of new and familiar cast members, with some members of the franchise's voice cast becoming live-action versions of their animated characters. After the immense success of Inside Out 2, a fan-made concept trailer imagines how the story of the franchise would play out in a live-action film. It's the latest video to utilize AI to picture what a live-action adaptation of an animated movie may look like.
The video was posted on YouTube by Multiverse of Movies. It's the same channel that has previously shared live-action movie concept trailers for animated shows like The Simpsons, South Park, and Futurama, as well as video games such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Other Pixar films have also gotten the treatment, including Toy Story and The Incredibles. Similarly, Inside Out has now gotten a concept trailer of its own, which was made with the assistance of AI-generated imagery.

Inside Out 2 is an excellent sequel that builds on the original films premise, as Riley (Kensington Tallman) hits puberty. An array of more complex emotions are added to the mix, with Anxiety (Maya Hawke), Envy (Ayo Edebiri), Ennui (Adle Exarchopoulos), and Embarrassment (Paul Walter Hauser) joining original characters Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Fear (Tony Hale), Disgust (Liza Lapira), and Anger (Lewis Black). Though the emotions are brought to life impeccably, the film is missing something that elevated the originals emotional impact Bing Bong (Richard Kind).

Amy Poehler is ready to laugh. Poehler, who will be honored with Variety’s Legends and Groundbreakers Award at the Newport Beach Film Festival on Oct. 20, notes there is a running joke around the offices of her production company, Paper Kite. “You know how people talk about living in unprecedented times? We’re like, ‘Let’s get back into precedented times.’ So, we’re calling 2025 ‘The Year of Precedented Times.’ And I think 2025 is The Year of Comedy.”
Poehler elaborates, “We’ve had a lot of incredible art that’s come out of these deep, dystopian fears we’ve all been experiencing, which is great. But it kind of feels like we want to get back to laughing.” As for what makes her laugh, Poehler hesitates. “I have the pleasure and privilege of actually being friends with these amazing funny people,” she admits. “So, the first thought that comes to my mind is my friends.

Hot Take Alert: I Truly Believe Up Was The Last Great Pixar Movie (& Is Even Better Than Inside Out)
Up, Pixar's 10th feature-length movie, is an example of what the studio can do when they're firing on all cylinders. Unfortunately, that was the last time I've seen Pixar do so. In 2009, I sat down with my family to watch the latest Pixar movie, Up. Hooray! Oh look, a young boy and girl are starting to like each other. Nice! Hey, they're getting married. That's wonderful! Wait now what's happening? Slow down. Hey! They lost the child? She's dead?? What kind of kids' movie opens with a death scene?
The kind of Pixar movie that earns a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, $735 million at the box office (via Box Office Mojo), and five nominations at the Academy Awards, including one for Best Picture. That's what kind of kids' movie. Up has left a lasting legacy on pop culture. That floating house is still a part of the public consciousness, as is saying "Squirrel" when you're distracted,...

Inside Out 3 is not confirmed yet, but Pixar is exploring ideas for the next installment due to the success of the franchise. Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter is considering the direction of the potential threequel, focusing on unexplored concepts. Despite no official production start, Pixar hopes to delve deeper into the vast world of emotions.
While Inside Out 3 is not officially confirmed, Pixar is workshopping some ideas for the threequel. Inside Out 2 is still in theaters and proved to be a dominating force at the box office this summer. It has earned over $1.6 billion already and is poised to continue earning for Disney once it comes to Disney+. Pixar is already working on the four-episode Dream Productions spin-off, but Inside Out 3's confirmation continues to be a subject of anticipation.
While not wholly admitting that the threequel will be entering production, Pixar's Chief Creative Officer, Pete Docter, has been considering the next steps.

Inside Out 2 delves into puberty with relatable new emotions like Anxiety and Envy, while honoring Bing Bong's sacrifice from the original film. Pixar's tradition of Easter eggs continues in Inside Out 2, with subtle nods to upcoming films and beloved animators hidden throughout the movie.

When Inside Out hit theaters in the summer of 2015, no one could have guessed that it would start a juggernaut franchise. It introduced a whole new world of characters that have gone on to become pop culture icons. While Joy (Amy Pohler) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) became a beloved and unlikely set of friends, one character that touched the hearts of audiences everywhere was Bing Bong (Richard Kind). As Rileys long-lost imaginary friend, the characters wit and quirky nature made him an immediate stand-out. But, of course, one cant talk about Bing Bong without talking about his heartbreaking demise.

People usually believe Toy Story 3 and Up have the saddest scenes of all of the Pixar movies. However, Inside Out has one incredibly heartbreaking scene that tops the rest. Pixar is known for its nostalgia-inducing scenes, and Inside Out is all about growing up and losing your childhood. Most people agree that the death of one special character makes this movie truly harrowing.
While there are a lot of outstanding animated movies out there, Pixar Animation Studios has become iconic for its heartwarming yet harrowing scenes. It’s a practical joke to ask a screenwriter to write about anxiety.
The very nature of the occupation is to walk around constantly asking yourself: What’s the worst thing that could possibly happen in this moment? To this character? To someone the character loves? To someone I love? To me?
But there’s a special kind of anxiety that comes with writing the sequel to a beloved film like Inside Out. Aside from the many accolades bestowed on it — it’s a perfect film with an Oscar-nominated screenplay — it’s also my personal favorite Pixar movie.
It had been a dream of mine to write at Pixar. Six years ago I had interviewed with director Dan Scanlon to write Onward, but the timing didn’t work out when Showtime greenlit my Jim Carrey-starring series Kidding. Now, here I was again, passing beneath the giant Luxo lamp, getting...

When "Inside Out" premiered in 2015, adults admitted without shame that the Pixar movie where emotions have emotions melted them into giant puddles. I was no different. I caught the film during a weekday matinee and had the entire theater to myself. No screaming kids, no teens texting, and I had the best seat in the house.
This also meant that I was a sight for the poor minimum-wage worker who found an adult woman crying so hard she was dry heaving, alone, after a family film.

Pixar Animation often brings in some of the best voice talent in the business for the animated features, even if it's just for bit parts. For example, the original "Inside Out" featured the voices of Frank Oz and Dave Goelz as a pair of bickering subconscious guards inside Riley's mind. Oz is probably best known for bringing life to Yoda in the "Star Wars" saga, but he was also behind beloved Muppets like Fozzie Bear and Miss Piggy, as well as "Sesame Street" characters like Grover and Bert. Meanwhile, Goelz is known for playing Gonzo and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew in various Muppets productions over the years. Both of them return with small parts as Mind Cops in "Inside Out 2," and if director Kelsey Mann had his way, there would have been one more legendary contribution to "Sesame Street" and the Muppets making an appearance.

Pixar’s Inside Out 2 is at its most visually sumptuous when immersing us in Riley’s (Kensington Tallman) burgeoning belief systems, a new addition to her mind that’s portrayed as an enormous, beautifully rendered chamber full of fluorescent strands of light, culminating in a single blossom above representing her sense of self. But once Riley’s fragile teenage emotions take the wheel, though, that blossom becomes frayed, the product of a toxic pool infected with intrusive thoughts. Sadly, that visual complexity isn’t matched by the actual journey the core emotions take back to the forefront of Riley’s mind. It can’t help but feel like a more convoluted retread of the first Inside Out’s abstract buddy comedy, but without the poignancy of the Bing Bong storyline or the subtle realization of the role of Sadness in our lives. Instead, the plot is still trying to...

Riley (Kensington Tallman), the little girl audiences were first introduced to in 2015’s Inside Out, is navigating typical teenage life in Inside Out 2. Early in the film, she gets invited to an advanced hockey tryout at her soon-to-be-new high school with her two besties, only to find out that they aren’t going to the same school, and that the badass jock girls at the new school are bigger, stronger, and cooler. While it’d be nice if she knew how to deal with that in an emotionally mature way, unfortunately, she’s literally got a lot more on her mind.
When we last saw her in the original film, Riley had one core group of anthropomorphic emotions running around the crystalline control center in her head, guiding her decisions: Joy (Amy Pohler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust, and Fear. After the big red puberty alarm goes off,...

Oh, so you think being a kid is an emotional rollercoaster, huh? Try becoming a freshly minted teenager.
When Inside Out hit theaters in 2015, Pixar’s deep dive into an 11-year-old’s brain quickly ascended to top-tier status; the combination of old-school cartoonishness, a color scheme that left no hue untouched, a celebrity voice cast with comic chops, and a perfect combo of childlike imagination and mature insight into the moment you start leaving childhood behind established it as one of the company’s best works to date. A follow-up was inevitable,...

Inside Out 2 will tackle heavier subject matter like high school, relationships, and anxiety, appealing to older viewers. The movie is rated PG for thematic elements, indicating it may have some intense moments but still suitable for children. The sequel will introduce new Emotions and build upon the original, offering a heartwarming story for the whole family.
Like all of Pixar's animated classics, Inside Out 2 is designed to appeal to all ages, but that doesn't preclude it from venturing into some heavier subject matter. The sequel to the beloved 2015 that followed the escapades of five anthropomorphic Emotions in the mind of a preteen girl, Riley, will pick up a short while after the original ended, and will introduce new cast and Emotions as Riley becomes a teenager and deals with puberty. With Inside Out 2 hitting theaters soon, I figured that now would be as good a time as any to look back at the 2015 original nearly a decade later. When Inside Out first released, Pixar was in arguably the studio’s first slump period. After 15 years of universal acclaim and box office dominance from 1995’s Toy Story to 2010’s Toy Story 3, the studio put out the critically reviled Cars 2 and the middlingly received Brave and Monsters University all in a row.
All three films still made money and Brave even took home the Best Animated Feature Oscar that year, but it nevertheless felt like Pixar had lost some of that original spark. But then came Inside Out; a completely original story from Pixar veteran Pete Docter, who had previously helmed Monsters Inc. and Up that took the studio’s “What if x had feelings?” formula to its logical...

The scope of imagination showcased in Pixar’s animated movie oeuvre is boundless, vivid, and experimentative. Even with younger minds as their target audience, the movies created by Pixar often tend to be philosophically and emotionally vibrant, defying the limitations of the genre in the most unique ways. After years of enchanting viewers with the emotional complexities of human, non-human, and even inanimate characters, Pixar went even further by crafting a story about emotional expression and personifications of emotions themselves, as shown beautifully in their much-loved animated release of 2015, Inside Out.
Director Pete Docter conceptualized the movie as he observed the coming-of-age journey of his own daughter, imbuing a deeply personal note to his creation in the process. To maintain a certain level of authenticity in portraying the inner trappings of the psyche, he and co-director Ronnie del Carmen even sought help from medical professionals—no wonder the audience found...

Actor-director John Krasinski’s animated tale of an anxious tween and her make-believe buddies is not in Pixar’s league, but it boasts a heartfelt sweetness and an engaging young star
What if imaginary friends didn’t vanish into the murk of forgotten memories as soon as the child who conjured them grew up? What if the invisible bestie lingered on, trying hard not to be wounded by the rejection and waiting in vain to be of use once more? If that sounds familiar, that’s because it is. The central premise of American actor-director John Krasinski’s If – his first family film after the horror movie double of A Quiet Place and its sequel – is borrowed from several Pixar films.

Pixar's Inside Out 2 may feature five new emotions, sparking intriguing fan theories on how they will manifest in the storyline. Surprise, who was left out of the first film, would potentially make a physical appearance in the sequel as a neutral character like Bing Bong. John Krasinski proudly makes movies for and about the whole family. Maybe his vastly successful “A Quiet Place” franchise, with all its screechy monsters, is too much for youngsters to handle. But there’s still an undeniable, innocent loveliness to those movies, with warm moments that lean closely into the bonds of an adoring family that only grow stronger in the face of danger and despair.
So it’s perhaps no surprise that Krasinski’s latest sets its sights on a tale that this time is genuinely for kids, and not just their parents. There are no bloodthirsty brutes in the live action-animation hybrid “If,” a sweetly old-fashioned yet messily conjured children’s tale that sadly falls short of its thematic ambitions. Instead, it has oddly endearing creatures that represent a child’s wild imagination, overeager to show up and save the day for the people who envisioned them once upon a time,...

The sequel to the Oscar-winning 2015 film, Inside Out 2 is coming to theaters on June 14, 2024, as we have reported earlier. The first film became a beloved hit and although it took Disney some time, the sequel is very close to its premiere and fans are eagerly awaiting to see the new story with a larger plethora of emotions. As we know, most of the characters from the first film – including the main emotions – are coming back, and will be joined by numerous other characters who will make their debut in the sequel. But, there is one burning question that has been bugging fans for some time – could Bing Bong be coming back for the sequel?
As you might remember, Bing Bong’s story was one of the saddest moments of the first film, in which the character supposedly died. Now, Disney is not really known for killing off characters in such a way,...

Inside Out 2 co-screenwriter Dave Holstein was asked if Riley's imaginary friend Bing Bong could return. Holstein played coy, but didn't dismiss the possibility outright. Bing Bong met a tragic end after sacrificing himself in the original Inside Out.
Bing Bong's possible return in Inside Out 2 has been addressed by one of the movie's screenwriters. Bing Bong (Richard Kind), a character who originated in the 2015 Pixar movie Inside Out, was the former imaginary friend of the protagonist Riley (Kaitlyn Dias), whose emotions were anthropomorphized as the characters Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), and Disgust (Mindy Kaling). Bing Bong meets a tragic end in the movie after helping Joy escape the Memory Dump by sacrificing himself to a fate of fading away as Riley forgets him.

Inside Out 2 will delve into Riley's new emotions and belief system, potentially surpassing Bing Bong's emotional impact. The sequel may explore the overwhelming repercussions of Riley's evolving beliefs in her adolescent years. While Riley's Belief System in Inside Out 2 may be sad, the movie likely won't aim to top Bing Bong's heartrending death scene.
Inside Out 2 will put audiences in their feelings with a new element of Riley's mind, and it may even outdo the original movie's Bing Bong death scene on the scale of emotional impact. Despite being a coming-of-age animation voiced by Inside Out's cast of comedians such as Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, and Mindy Kaling, the initial Inside Out film was very profound and, at times, very devastating. Inside Out is imagined in live-action art, including human-like emotions Joy, Sadness, Anger, and Disgust all transformed in new visuals. Live-action art raises questions about Inside Out's adaptation. Disney should steer clear of a live-action Inside Out to preserve Pixar's originality and charm.

The majority of Pixar films are not to be watched without tissues. From the furnace farewell in Toy Story 3, to the ‘Married Life’ sequence in Up, to the ‘Remember Me’ scene in Coco, the studio tends to have one hand placed firmly on your tear-ducts. And that’s not to mention Inside Out, perhaps the most emotionally effective of any Pixar film. The ‘death’ of Bing Bong, the first foray through young Riley’s mind, the reconciliation of Joy and Sadness… it’s a non-stop heart-squeezer. And that’s a tough act to follow for this year’s Inside Out 2, following Riley through puberty as a raft of new emotions – chiefly Anxiety, plus Envy, Embarrassment and Ennui – come into play.
According to incoming writer Dave Holstein, the newly-developed ‘Belief System’ in Riley’s mind isn’t just a cool environment for the sequel to explore – it’s going...

In 2015, Pixar's "Inside Out" introduced us to a wonderful ensemble of characters in the form of five core emotions inside the mind of an 11-year old girl named Riley. Joy (Amy Poehler) was the leader of the crew, trying to keep Riley happy all the time. Sadness (Phyllis Smith) was constantly stressing out Joy by making Riley feel down in the dumps. Anger (Lewis Black) came out when Riley just couldn't deal anymore, Fear (Bill Hader) made sure Riley kept herself safe, though sometimes irrationally scared, and Disgust (Mindy Kaling) ensured that she never ate broccoli or dealt with anything cringey that might upset her.
In "Inside Out 2," all the core emotions are comfortable in keeping Riley on the straight and narrow, complete with a new belief system and sense of self (more on that in our full footage reaction from our visit to Pixar Animation), even though...

In retrospect, it only becomes harder and harder to believe that any of us made it out of our awkward teenage years (relatively) unscathed with our dignity (relatively) intact. Every new environment during this tumultuous time comes with a whole assortment of anxiety-inducing social interactions, new fears and pressures we didn't even know existed before, and the ever-present threat of embarrassing ourselves in ways that will randomly keep us up at night decades down the line. They only come along every once in a blue moon: the dueling movies. 1998 was an especially unusual year in that it saw two of them hitting theaters, with killer asteroid films "Deep Impact" and "Armageddon" going head-to-head within the same 12-month span as the animated insect flicks "Antz" and "A Bug's Life." There haven't been too many since then, save for the clash of the White House action-thrillers in 2013 with "Olympus Has Fallen" and "White House Down." Now, 2024 is bringing us the next big showdown between movies with remarkably similar premises.

Inside Out 2 will struggle to beat the original's saddest scene, which may come as a relief for viewers. The upcoming sequel will explore new emotions, giving it the opportunity to take a different approach than the first movie. Inside Out 2 will be released on July 14, 2024, nearly a decade after the original, but it is still highly anticipated.
Inside Out 2 has one major challenge when it comes to outdoing its predecessor, but it might be a good thing if it doesn't beat the original in this area. The original Inside Out proved a huge success for Disney and Pixar, bringing in $857 million worldwide and becoming the seventh highest-grossing film of 2015 (via Box Office Mojo). While John Krasinski has more recently been known for co-writing and directing the :a[A Quiet Place]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/movies/reviews/quiet-place-review/' } films, he's headed to slightly more family friendly (not to mention noisier) territory for his next job, If. With the likes of Ryan Reynolds, Steve Carell, Emily Blunt, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Fiona Shaw either on screen or providing voices for CG Imaginary Friends, the new fantasy adventure comedy has its first trailer online. Check it out…
Written as well as directed by Krasinski, If is about a girl who discovers that she can see everyone’s imaginary friends — and what she does with that superpower — as she embarks on a magical adventure to reconnect forgotten IFs with their kids.
Reynolds, at least in the footage the trailer provides, appears to be in more of a straight man role here, opting for wry over his wise-cracking mode.

Baldur's Gate 3 players have embraced the game's weirdness, indulging in strange fantasies and pushing the boundaries of the game's options. Updates to Baldur's Gate 3 have made the game even more bizarre, adding fan favorite characters, more graphic body horror, and unique interactions. Patch 5 for Baldur's Gate 3 added a number of new features, but the most significant is a playable epilogue. Certain permutations of the epilogue have also canonized a character made popular by BG3's cast participating in a one-shot Dungeons & Dragons game as their characters. Bing Bong, an imp that works at a fantasy supermarket, is now canon in Baldur's Gate 3.
Larian Studios' latest patch for Baldur's Gate 3 was a big one, full of bug fixes, new clothes, and, most importantly, a playable epilogue. While the majority of this conclusion is defined by the choices players have made throughout their adventure, there was one tiny addition that everyone will get to enjoy. In an easily missed line of new dialogue, one fan favorite character was officially made part of Baldur's Gate 3 canon.
