Rose McIver, Malcolm Goodwin

iZombie, Season 1, Episode 10: “Mr. Berserk”

Written by Dierdre Mangan and Graham Norris

Directed by Jason Bloom

Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW

Liv’s swiping of a piece of Lowell’s breakfast two weeks ago led to the unpleasant revelation that not only was Lowell getting his brains from Blaine, but that Blaine’s inventory was furnished with the missing teenagers from the skate park. Liv’s first attempt at killing Blaine, however, ended with Lowell’s death, as Liv found herself unable to take the shot. This week’s episode sees both Liv deal with Lowell’s death, and Major deal with Julien’s non-death, in a compelling episode that highlights what the series has done well so far.

Watching Liv’s grief over Lowell’s death is a touching aspect of the episode, and serves to highlight how much out of her depth Liv is.

iZombie, Ep. 1.03: “The Exterminator” focuses on Liv’s friendships
Rahul Kohli, Rose McIver

iZombie, Season 1, Episode 3: “The Exterminator”

Story by Rob Thomas, Teleplay by Graham Norris and Lee Arcuri

Directed by Michael Fields

Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW

Last week’s episode of iZombie established what the pilot hinted at; that Liv wasn’t the only survivor from the boat party gone awry, and that whatever had affected her and turned her into a zombie had affected others too. While the discovery of Blaine came only with the prior history of his off-putting behaviour on the boat and his active role in her death, this week sees Liv and Ravi come across yet another zombie, one whom Liv has a closer connection with. This forces Liv to make some difficult choices, in a strong episode that helps develop a key secondary character.

Watching how Liv deals with Marcy provides some fascinating insight into the former’s current mindset.

Reel TV: 'Outbreak' and 'Les Miserables' Are Both Heading to TV
We're usually the first in line for a deadly contagion tale, though it's been a while since we watched the 1995 film Outbreak, starring Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Spacey, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Morgan Freeman. Now Wolfgang Petersen's story of deadly viruses and government coverups is being adapted for the small screen. Deadline has the news about John Wells and Jack Orman's new medical thriller (they're the producers behind ER). As long as someone dies in every episode we might be Ok with this project (also: monkeys), but without the great cast behind the story it's feeling a little flat. C'mon NBC, give us something new. Rob Thomas figured he wasn't busy enough with his newly funded Veronica Mars project, so he asked actor-writer Graham Norris to pen a...

'Les Misérables' to become modern-day Us TV legal drama
Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen, Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried, and Eddie Redmayne in Les Misérables (2012)
Les Misérables is to be adapted into a modern-day legal drama for Us television.

Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas is revamping Victor Hugo's novel for Fox, Deadline reports.

Thomas and writer Graham Norris will transpose the book's characters into the modern-day, with Jean Valjean now a brilliant lawyer who defends the innocent but is still haunted by his own unjust convictions from years before.

The lawyer must not only manage his troubled romantic life but also evade a ruthless Us attorney who is unwilling to forget the sins of the past.

Les Misérables was most recently adapted into an Oscar-winning movie starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway.

Hugo's novel has also served as the inspiration for a popular stage musical, as well as numerous film and TV adaptations.

'Les Miserables' update bought by Fox from Rob Thomas
Fox is developing an update of "Les Miserables" as a television drama series. The project comes from Rob Thomas ("Veronica Mars," "Party Down").

In a year of updates and remakes, it's kind of cool to see one that actually brings imagination to the table. The Thomas version of "Les Mis" will take place in the present and is a primetime soap focused on a brilliant lawyer (according to Deadline). The lawyer runs a legal exoneration program and simultaneously fights to evade the consequences stemming from his own legal troubles many years before.

This "Jean Valjean" character has to deal with the troubles of high society, save innocents and manage his chaotic personal life while staying ahead of a ruthless U.S. Attorney who won't let the past die (this would be the "Inspector Javert" character).

Written by Graham Norris, the pilot has been picked up for development at Fox with...

Kristen Johnston, Kelly Stables, and Emmanuel Delcour in The Exes (2011)
Fox has given a script commitment to a modern spin on Les Misérables that will turn the story of Jean Valjean into a contemporary lawyer show. Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas is onboard as a producer, with a script written by Graham Norris. According to Deadline, it'll be a prime-time soap about "a brilliant lawyer running a legal exoneration program who fights to evade the consequences of his own unjust conviction many years before." He'll juggle "high society," his humanitarian work, and a rocky home life, because it's 2013, and that's what shows are about. Les Miz: The Lawyer Show, folks. The mind reels.

Present Day "Les Mis" Series Coming
"Veronica Mars" and "Party Down" creator Rob Thomas and actor/writer Graham Norris are teaming on a primetime soap inspired by "Les Misérables". The project has landed at Fox with a script commitment plus penalty.

This will have nothing to do with the famed 1980 musical though, rather it's a contemporary drama inspired by the original 1862 Victor Hugo novel. It's a similar approach to ABC's "Revenge" which drew inspiration from Alexandre Dumas' "The Count of Monte Cristo".

The story follows a lawyer running a legal exoneration program who fights to evade the consequences of his own unjust conviction many years before.

He must navigate high society, continue his mission of saving innocent people, and manage his tumultuous family and romantic life. He must also stay one step ahead of a ruthless U.S. Attorney who refuses to let the ghosts of the past die.
