Every Song On The Breakfast Club Soundtrack
Image
The Breakfast Club, a quintessential '80s high school film, launched careers and changed teen movies forever with its brilliant writing, down-to-earth story, and excellent performances. The soundtrack, featuring hits like "Don't You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds and "Fire in the Twilight" by Wang Chung, showcased new wave sounds and became a beloved part of the movie's legacy. The Breakfast Club soundtrack has been recognized as a snapshot of popular teen music in the '80s and has influenced subsequent teen dramas and movies.

John Hughes' The Breakfast Club was the quintessential '80s high school film, and it had a soundtrack full of songs that went on to become just as beloved as the movie itself. Released in 1985 to rave critical reviews, the film follows a group of disparate students who come to know each other over the course of a day in Saturday detention. The Breakfast Club...

‘Boudica’ Ending Explained & Movie Summary: How Did Emperor Nero Perish?
Image
There have been films like Gladiator that encapsulate the struggle of a warrior during a time when only might was right. Recently, the epic films regarding legendary warriors have become bloodier and focus much less on the warrior’s journey than the violent action sequences. Boudica: Queen of War is an example of how the story can be eclipsed by a dire need for not-so-subtle action scenes and what happens when the key moments of the film are rushed. Directed by Jesse Johnson, the film chronicles the life of Boudica from the time when she was just an Iceni queen, wife of Prasutagus, whose region was attacked by the Romans. Soon after, Prasutagus life came under threat, and the Iceni Queen’s journey began, where she had to make a choice: whether to perish or to become Boudica, the Goddess of War.

Spoilers Ahead

Black Widow's Olga Kurylenko Becomes An Ancient British Hero In Boudica: Queen of War Clip [Exclusive]
Image
Boudica: Queen of War tells the story of the iconic British revolutionary who led an open rebellion against the Roman Empire. Olga Kurylenko's portrayal of Boudica was pivotal for director Jesse Johnson, inspiring him to finish writing the screenplay after two decades. Kurylenko's eagerness to immerse herself in every aspect of her performance, including the stunts, showcases her prowess for physical acting.

Boudica: Queen of War brings the story of a revolutionary icon to life in a new way. Boudica was the queen of Britain’s Iceni tribe, whose kingdom was overtaken by the Roman Empire against the wishes of her late husband as stated in his will. What’s more, the Romans assaulted and traumatized Boudica and her daughters, ultimately spurring her into an open rebellion that resulted in the leveling of cities and the deaths of thousands of Romans. To this day, Boudica is celebrated as an important revolutionary in British history,...

A viral TikTok told the world that Chili’s caters weddings. A marketing campaign is running with that premise.
Image
In the fast food sector, a viral TikTok has spawned a marketing stunt. Chili’s is teaming up with the agency Mischief to run a giveaway after bridal vlogger Madison Mulkey revealed that she hired the chain to cater her wedding.

In a video uploaded on May 14, Mulkey showed off the receipt for her wedding’s food bill. Rather than opting for a traditional catering company, the star of the @brideisapersonality account turned to Chili’s — and the Tex-Mex favorite delivered. For under $2,000, Mulkey fed nearly 100 guests. “You really can’t beat that price point,” she said. “It was the perfect meal for our wedding. I’m so happy we chose Chili’s.”

Exclusive: One Ranger’s Director and Co-Stars Discuss the Modern Cowboy Movie
Image
While modern character complexities found within the Western genre have surely widened since the days of Gene Autry and Roy Rogers with movies like 2007’s No Country for Old Men and 2015’s The Hateful Eight that show the psychological side of the cowboy, these films both came out over ten years ago. With such a wide gap between the two groups, there is no greater time for this category of film to be having a true revival on the big screen. With the help of a director that specializes in action thrillers, Lionsgate Films is hoping to aim for the high mark with a soon-to-be released movie that puts a modern spin on an old character.

Releasing on May 5th into select movie theaters, on demand, and digital media, One Ranger drops Texas ranger Alex Tyree (Thomas Jane) into London with a fiery new partner (Dominique Tipper) to stop a...

A ‘Tiger King’ Comic Book Is Coming in June
Joe Exotic in Au royaume des fauves (2020)
The popular Netflix docu-series “Tiger King” will be the subject of a new comic book coming in June, according to TidalWave Productions.

TidalWave announced on Tuesday it will add the Netflix phenomenon to the “Infamous” series of pop culture comic books. It will be written by Michael Frizell and illustrated by Joe Paradise.

“You can’t make this stuff up. I never imagined I’d be researching a book like this,” said writer Michael Frizell. “It was a challenge to find a focus for the comic because there’s so much happening.”

“I just remember starting to watch the show saying to myself, ‘Yeah that tracks.’ We all have Joes and Caroles in our lives, and it’s always interesting to me to learn how these extreme characters got to be where they wound up.”

Jason Ooi’s Top 10 Films of 2019
Following our top 50 films of 2019, we’re sharing personal top 10 lists from our contributors. Check out the latest below and see our complete year-end coverage here.

If this past decade’s trajectory of film consumption continues, the future of film culture seems extremely promising. Despite the continued homogenization of certain studio slates dominating the mainstream box office, a rejuvenated political consciousness and the proliferation of streaming services has breathed a second life into those kinds of previously unavailable (unmarketable) films, now accessible to a broader public. Arthouse films are contended in wider circles; mid-budget filmmaking is reappearing from distinguished directors that could never quite draw the theater audiences they expected. Ticket sales may have steadily decreased, but the surge in options has integrated films more readily with the general social experience!

It is with this comfort in eventual exposure that I list some of my favorite films that premiered this...

Antonio Banderas & Olga Kurylenko in Trailer for 'Gun Shy' Comedy
"Rock out with your glock out." Saban Films has debuted the first official trailer for an action comedy called Gun Shy, formerly known as Salty (which is the title that appears on the very early poster art seen below the trailer). The movie stars Antonio Banderas as an over-the-top rockstar named Turk Henry, with a wife played by Olga Kurylenko. She gets kidnapped while the two are vacationing in Chile, and Banderas recruits some wacky people to help him find and free her. Sounds like a fun straight-to-vhs concept for an action movie, why not. The full cast includes Ben Cura, Mark Valley, Aisling Loftus, David Mitchell, Jeremy Swift, and Jesse Johnson. This really looks ridiculous, but it may be a fun beer-and-pizza rental. Here's the first official trailer (+ new poster) for Simon West's Gun Shy, direct from YouTube: When vacationing in Chile, an aging and pampered rock star...

Like father, like son!   Dakota Johnson isn't Don Johnson's only actor kid -- meet his very attractive son Jesse Johnson, who's also following in the footsteps of his famous dad.  The "Miami Vice" alum currently stars in the El Rey Network's supernatural crime saga "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series" as Sheriff Earl McGraw.   On next week's episode, the actor's 32-year-old son makes his debut appearance as the younger version of his dad's character -- and we definitely see the resemblance!  While Jesse has blonde hair, he shares his dad's bright green eyes and reminds us of what the 65-year-old looked like back in the '80s.  The aspiring actor has worked alongside the TV vet before -- he starred in his first role back in 2001 on Don's police drama, "Nash Bridges."   Jesse is Don's only son from his relationship with actress Patti D'Arbanville. The Death of a Great President Lives on in "Killing Kennedy"
Though not a fan of Bill O’Reilly, I can appreciate his examinations of historic events (namely the deaths of some very prominent figures) as a student of history. The filmic adaptations of those examinations, however, have a definite hit or miss quality thus far. With Killing Lincoln, what could have been an interesting retelling of President Lincoln’s assassination was marred by some genuinely awful acting on the part of Jesse Johnson and production values that made it look as cheap as its “made for TV movie” origins would have you expect. With Killing Kennedy, the sins of the previous adaptation are corrected, with the film having a noticeably higher caliber of production behind it and with performances by its two leads (Rob Lowe and Will Rothhaar) easily besting those in Killing Lincoln. And while the examination of Kennedy’s assassination is incredibly shallow and doesn’t dive into any of the conspiracy theories,...

Killing Lincoln Review
“You are a free citizen in this Republic. Kneel to God only and thank Him for the liberty that is yours.” -Abraham Lincoln, “Killing Lincoln”

Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth President of the United States and the first Republican to occupy the White House, is likely the most revered commander in chief in America’s 237 year history, and during his time he was also one of the most controversial. The stories of his assassination the night of April 14, 1865 and the months leading up to it remain among the most captivating in history textbooks, and more recently on the small screen in the made for TV film based on Bill O’Reilly’s best selling book of the same name, “Killing Lincoln.”

The book was well received by readers and critics, but panned by historians, citing numerous minor factual errors including the meetings between Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant, several mentions of...

Inside ‘Killing Lincoln’: John Wilkes Booth, the Famed Actor History Forgot
Read Our Review of ‘Killing Lincoln’ Here

In National Geographic’s Killing Lincoln - from executive producers Ridley and Tony Scott and narrated by Tom Hanks – the final days of Abraham Lincoln and his assassin, John Wilkes Booth, are re-created to present the true story behind the first-ever assassination of a United States President. And with it, the tale of one of America’s most famous forgotten actors is revealed.

This past summer, while filming in Virginia, Screen Rant visited the set of Killing Lincoln to talk to Jesse Johnson, the actor tasked with portraying John Wilkes Booth, about the amazingly interesting and largely unknown story behind the man who killed Lincoln.

“He’s not just this little blurb you read about in your history text book,” says Johnson. “This was a man who was raised by a famous acting father, and he was brought up ...

'Killing Lincoln': Abraham Lincoln was 'martyred,' John Wilkes Booth was 'vilified'
On a sultry summer day in Richmond, Va. -- the Confederate capital during the Civil War -- a film crew has gathered at an historic building refitted to look like a telegraph office. The scene being shot features Abraham Lincoln (Billy Campbell) receiving a message and then discussing it with Secretary of War Edwin Stanton (Graham Beckel).

Despite the sweltering heat, the bearded men wear waistcoats and jackets, and the women are decked out in period dresses, with corsets. The only person who seems comfortable is local actor Benjamin Perkinson, with his little suit and slicked-back hair, as Lincoln's young son, Tad.

In production is "Killing Lincoln," set to air Sunday, Feb. 17, on National Geographic Channel, a two-hour mix of drama and documentary based on the best-selling "historical thriller" of the same name by Fox News Channel anchor Bill O'Reilly ("The O'Reilly Factor") and historian/researcher Martin Dugard. Tom Hanks narrates.

The National Geographic original scripted drama Killing Lincoln, adapted from Bill O’Reilly’s best-selling book and narrated by Academy Award winner Tom Hanks, chronicles the final days of President Lincoln (Billy Campbell) and the plot devised by one of the most notorious and complex villains of all time, John Wilkes Booth (Jesse Johnson). Executive produced by Tony and Ridley Scott, the film also stars Geraldine Hughes, Graham Beckel and Shawn Pyfrom. During this recent exclusive interview with Collider, actor Jesse Johnson (the son of actors Don Johnson and Patti D’Arbanville) talked about how he came to be a part of Killing Lincoln, how he approached his portrayal of John Wilkes Booth, they type of research he did, what...

How National Geographic's 'Killing Lincoln' Tries to Find a New Way to Put History on Screen
Billy Campbell and Jesse Johnson in Killing Lincoln (2013)
Don't call it a docudrama. Premiering on Sunday, February 17th at 8pm, "Killing Lincoln" is National Geographic's first real venture into scripted television, aside from November's "Zero Dark Thirty Lite" acquired feature "Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden." The new movie about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln doesn't take the typical approach to a historical drama. Written by Erik Jendresen ("Band of Brothers") and directed by Adrian Moat ("Gettyburg"), "Killing Lincoln" is based on Bill O'Reilly's nonfiction bestseller of the same name, though the Fox News host had no direct involvement in the TV movie, which was handled by Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions. It takes place in what's left as an ellipsis in Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln," delving into the conspiracy headed by John Wilkes Booth (Jesse Johnson) that lead up to the murder...

National Geographic Channel’s new film Killing Lincoln explores a key part of the 16th president’s story that Steven Spielberg’s big screen hit largely passed over.

Killing Lincoln spends time portraying both men as it builds toward, as narrator Tom Hanks puts it, “the most resonant crime in the history of the nation,...

Australian Flick: Prey DVD Update
Top Cat Films announced that Xenon Pictures will release Prey (aka The Outback) in North America on July 13, 2010. The horror thriller stars Aussie superstar Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Jesse Johnson and features 2005 World Poker Champion Joe Hachem (wat?). The film is inspired by a North American couple who disappeared in the West Australian desert while on vacation. They were never seen alive again. Their abandoned vehicles and totally unused supplies were found in sand dunes near an Aboriginal sacred site--less than an hour away from the closest town.

The U.S. Trailer for The Outback
Two things strike me as funny about the trailer for The Outback , the Aussie import formerly known as Prey . One, the end of the trailer says "The Outback: Australian for Fear," planting tongue firmly in cheek. Secondly, as the ensemble cast is identified with quick cuts and the actor's names, Joe Hachem is seen sitting at a computer looking intense. The trailer then cuts to him playing solitaire. That's the way you sell us on this character? Maybe he's the comedic relief, but still... Anyway, Xenon Pictures has picked the film up for U.S. distribution and a DVD release is planned for July 13. Jesse Johnson, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Ben Kermode co-star.

Is Circle of Eight Better than Ho-Hum Horror?
Circle of Eight, from Paramont Pictures, will release on DVD as of February 2nd and despite being targeted for "young teens" the promotional material does have a hook (Horror). Circle of Eight was previously a web series on Myspace, but now the DVD will be on Netflix queues and DVD store shelves shortly. Also described by the movie review website Horror.com as "decent enough to watch all the way through, once, if you have to" and "[but] why bother?" With this stellar review you know that you will be getting the cream of the crop in Circle of Eight, but if that is not enough central character Jessica can be heard screaming her lungs out in 5.1 Dolby Digital. As well, several featurettes included in the DVD will entice some to purchase and Circle of Eight will be provided in Widescreen. All the visually traumatizing details are inside.

The synopsis for...

The Latest Trailer for Prey
In addition to the two trailers we introduced you to in October , a new preview has appeared online for the Australian supernatural romp Prey . And it appears there's something amiss going on behind-the-scenes on the film. At the end of this latest trailer, the credits block is missing a "directed by." A quick gander over at the film's Imdb page tells us an Oscar D'Roccster is now responsible for the film. Up until two months ago, the director was George Miller - the one responsible for The Neverending Story II , not of Mad Max and Babe fame. D'Roccster? This mystery figure has no credits to his name. Perhaps Miller wanted no connection to the final product. Written by John Soto, Prey stars Jesse Johnson, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Ben Kermode....
