His contribution to cinema extended beyond film sets, serving as a leader of the Turkish Film Workers' Union (Sine-Sen) and teaching cinema at the Mujdat Gezen Art Center.
Having worked with international directors such as Pier Paolo Pasolini and Elia Kazan, Hicdurmaz gained valuable experience from diverse cinematic cultures. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Eskisehir Film Festival and was an active member of Tursak (Turkish Foundation of Cinema and Audiovisual Culture).
