Exclusive: Paramount label Republic Pictures has acquired international rights to Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd comedy Friendship, which A24 is releasing domestically this weekend.

The TIFF and SXSW film, which marks the debut of writer-director Andrew DeYoung, follows suburban dad Craig who falls hard for his charismatic new neighbor, but his attempts to make an adult male friend threaten to ruin both of their lives.

Supporting cast includes Kate Mara, Jack Dylan Grazer, Josh Segarra, Billy Bryk, Jason Veasey, Jon Glaser, Eric Rahill, Conner O’Malley, Carmen Christopher, Craig Frank, Omar Torres, Jacob Ming-Trent, Daniel London, Whitmer Thomas and Raphael Sbarge.

Nick Weidenfeld, Raphael Margules, J.D. Lifshitz, and John Holland are producers. Executive producers are Paul Rudd, Tracy Rosenblum, Alexis Garcia and DeYoung and Fifth Season’s Graham Taylor, Chris Rice, Christopher Slager and Dan Guando.

If you know Adam Scott through his work in the excellent science fiction thriller series "Severance" from Apple TV+, it's understandable that you may be a little taken aback that Scott's most consistent and best turns have come in comedy. "Severance" does have some black comedy elements to its workplace satire, in which a group of people have gone through the eponymous process of severance, in which they have an "innie" who works at a strange and mysterious multinational conglomerate and an "outie" who lives a life outside of work and has no idea what their innie does during the day (and vice versa for the innies knowing nothing about their outies). But that show is largely a dark thriller in which the main characters struggle to regain their independence while being controlled by the enigmatic people who run Lumon Industries.

Netflix's new original comedy series Running Point, from none other than Mindy Kaling, finally made its premiere on Feb. 27, and it's going to be tough to beat as the funniest comedy series of 2025. Kate Hudson makes an easy lay-up in her first foray into comedy television, finding a comfortable home in Kaling's witty writing.

Running Point takes a play from the real-life experience of Los Angeles Lakers president Jeanie Buss, but Kaling and her co-showrunners Ike Barinholtz and Dave Stassen turn the realistic setup up a notch into a larger-than-life comedy world. Isla Gordon (Hudson) unexpectedly takes over as president of her family's business, the successful Los Angeles Waves basketball team.

Isla hikes an uphill battle (in heels!) to be taken seriously amid doubts from her brothers, the board, the team, and the unrelenting public.

Dinner with the Parents will not be returning for more meals run amuck. According to Deadline, Amazon cancelled the comedy series eight months after it aired on Amazon Freevee.

The fourth season of Ghosts is a massive installment of the CBS supernatural sitcom. We often talk about how hard it is to forge new friendships as we get older. Our routines lock us into specific spaces where meeting new people and trying new things is hard. With that being said, have you ever met someone who's a little too eager to be friends, or maybe even uncomfortably overzealous? You hit it off, hang out, and as you get to know them, alarm bells go off. Andrew DeYoungs new film Friendship takes this premise, turns it up to the highest degree, and utilizes cringe connoisseur Tim Robinson to take it as far as possible.

The film banks on several hilarious scenarios that play much like a full-length sketch from Robinson's acclaimed Netflix show, I Think You Should Leave, but there are also some intelligent epiphanies sprinkled throughout Friendship. The indie powerhouse has acquired U.S. distribution for “Friendship,” the Andrew DeYoung film that stars Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd, out of the Toronto International Film Festival. The deal is said to be in the low 7-figure range, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.

Robinson plays Craig Waterman, a suburban dad whose life takes an unexpected turn when he befriends his enigmatic new neighbor, Austin Carmichael, played by Rudd. Kate Mara, Jack Dylan Grazer, Josh Segarra, Billy Bryk, Jason Veasey and Jon Glaser also star.

The next film for one charming MCU star has just got an exciting first look and an update on its premiere. The official TIFF X account unveiled the first image of Friendship, the comedy film from writer/director Andrew DeYoung. Dinner with the Parents follows the escapades of two Langer brothers in their twenties who regularly attend dinner at their parents’ house – the family gathers every week for dinner, only to find themselves filled with remorse afterward. The show amusingly portrays their weekly family gatherings’ chaotic and disastrous nature.

“Dan makes me spit-take, genuinely,” Watkins told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “I just don’t see it coming, and he knocks me sideways with comedy. I mean, I laugh a lot. I was watching the episodes, and I was going, ‘Okay, it’s not just me.’ My husband and I were just cracking up.”

The BAFTA-nominated “Friday Night Dinner” — which served up 37 episodes from 2011-2020 —stemmed from creator Robert Popper’s real-life secular Jewish family and their weekly Shabbat meals, explaining why everything from its suburban London home to its lovable oddballs feels so wonderfully specific. Disappointingly, Amazon Freevee’s “Dinner with the Parents” is as generic as its title.

CBS’s Ghosts will be taking a three-week break and then returning with season three episode six, an episode that introduces Jon Glaser as pantless Trevor’s brother, Jeremy. Episode six, “Hello, Brother,” was directed by Trent O’Donnell and will air on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 8:30pm Et/Pt.

Following his front-running award season where he won every award he was up for, Christopher Nolan completed the sweep as he took home the Best Directing Oscar for Oppenheimer. The historic night was capped off by him being presented the award by Steven Spielberg, who many people compare Nolan to.

Nolan gave Spielberg a long hug following the win and thanked everyone involved, including his producing partner and wife, saying “I thank you for being the producer of all my films and all our children.”

Nolan won the award beating out Martin Scorsese for Killers of the Flower Moon, Jonathan Glaser for The Zone of Interest, Yorgos Lanthimos for Poor Things and Justine Triet for Anatomy of a Fall.

Dinner with the Parents has a premiere date. Amazon Freevee has announced the premiere date for the new comedy series with the release of a trailer. Inspired by the British comedy Friday Night Dinner, the streaming service ordered the show in July 2022.

Starring Michaela Watkins, Dan Bakkedahl, Carol Kane, Henry Hall, Daniel Thrasher, and Jon Glaser, the Dinner with the Parents series follows the Friday night dinners of the close-knit Langer family.

Dana Carvey, the great impressionist and comedian from Saturday Night Live, The Dana Carvey Show, and much more, suffered a terrible tragedy back in November. As he announced in a joint statement on Instagram with wife Paula Zwagerman on Nov. 17, “Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old. Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. Jonathan Glazer’s first directed title in 10 years, The Zone of Interest, shows an aspect of the Holocaust never seen, that from the Pov of the Nazis who lived outside the Auschwitz camp, building dream lives of their own.

The protagonists living a bucolic life are the commandant of Auschwitz, Rudolf Höss, and his wife Hedwig.

Asked by a reporter Saturday the day after the film had its work premiere at Cannes how he hopes Zone of Interest addresses the current problem of the resurgence of the far-right across Europe and the U.S. and Holocaust nihilism, Glazer answered, “I hope the film that we made, what it’s trying to do is to talk to the capacity within each of us for violence.”

“Wherever you’re from, it’s to try and show these people as people, not as monsters; that was an important thing to do,” said the filmmaker.

In addition to Schumer, the new season features Amber Tamblyn, Bridget Everett, Cara Delevinge, Chris Parnell, Ellie Kemper, Jesse Williams, Laura Benanti, Michael Ian Black, Olivia Munn and Tim Meadows, and returning writers Christine Nangle, Tami Sagher, Jon Glaser and Jeremy Beiler. Rising star Garrick Bernard portrays James Chambers on Freeform's Single Drunk Female. James has been sober for two years and is attracted to the show's protagonist, Sam Fink (Sofia Black-d'Elia), but doesn't want to date her until she's one year sober. The two share fantastic chemistry and a natural connection.

Last night in Single Drunk Female's Episode 8, titled" James," James's family learned he struggled with alcoholism, though no one wanted to admit it. James was in total denial until Sam stopped him from making a terrible mistake and urged him to get help.

“DuckTales” alum Ben Schwartz and “Big Mouth” star Ayo Edebiri are set to lend their voices to the feline and canine leads of “We Lost Our Human,” an animated Netflix interactive special from “Pinky Malinky” creators Rikke Asbjoern and Chris Garbutt.

Per the streaming service, “Audiences will choose to experience the story from the perspective of a self-involved cat (Pud) or a loving, hyperactive dog (Ham), who wake up one day to find that their human and All humans have disappeared from Earth! Desperate to find their owner, these two homebound pets venture out into the world for the first time to discover strange mysteries, meet bizarre creatures and maybe – with the audience’s help – save the universe along the way!”

Along with Schwartz as Pud and Edebiri as Ham, the cast of “We Lost Our Human” includes Adrienne C. Moore, Lauren Tom, Jon Glaser, Henry Rollins, Lucas Grabeel and Matty Cardarople.
