4 short-lived Chicago Fire characters you probably forgot were on the show
Image
Chicago Fire is a revolving door. There have been tons of characters who have stuck around for the long haul, of course, but most have been written out of the show, or gotten married and moved on to different careers. We remember them, and we miss them.

Some characters, however, don't stick around long enough to solidify their Chicago Fire legacy. They were compelling while on the show, but they left so quickly that their impact is barely felt in seasons that follow. This article is meant to shine a light on them, and recount why they left.

Is Denzel Washington’s ‘Flight’ Based on a True Story?
Image
Robert Zemeckis played into one of the biggest phobias of flyers. He took the fear of crashing a flight and added a whole lot of twists to it. Thanks to him, catching a flight has never been more scary. And who did he use to instill this fear? The legendary actor Denzel Washington.

The 2012 film follows Washington’s character, Captain Whip Whitaker, an experienced yet deeply flawed airline pilot who miraculously crash-lands a malfunctioning plane while under the influence. It was not the crash-landing part that left the viewers in awe, but the brief moment where he flew the plane upside down to avoid the nosedive that had fans holding onto their seats.

Whitaker, with his skills, maneuvers Flight 227 upside down mid-flight, flying it inverted to slow its descent before pulling off an emergency landing that saves most of the passengers. Pretty heroic, right? That’s how the world saw...

‘Leprechaun 3′ at 30: Warwick Davis’ Favorite Sequel Took a Twisted Trip to Vegas
Image
Brian Trenchard-Smith, the British-Australian director of such Ozploitation classics as Turkey Shoot and Dead End Drive-In, eventually made the big move to Hollywood in the early 1990s, and in due time, he was entrusted with the third installment of that decade’s most madcap horror franchise. Amazingly, Trenchard-Smith made his mark on a genre series already known for its schlocky pleasures and cheesy execution. And for those who prefer the wackier and more untamed entries in the Leprechaun universe, they really have Trenchard-Smith to thank; he steered these films in a cracked direction that still has fans talking to this day.

What better person to direct a Leprechaun sequel than the man who once said subtlety isn’t his middle name. Trenchard-Smith, a director of many self-deprecating quotes, made his Hollywood horror debut with another sequel, Night of the Demons 2, before boarding Leprechaun 3. In fact, it was his relationship...

'Power Rangers' With Bryan Cranston & Elizabeth Banks Coming to Netflix
Image
Back in 2017, Lionsgate released a Power Rangers movie that was part The Breakfast Club coming-of-age story and a bit of the children's superhero series that most of us grew up with. The end result received mixed reviews from critics, and it generated a so-so box office. This ended plans to launch a series of multiple sequels, but since its release, the film has generated a bit of a cult following, and now that can continue with the movie finding a new streaming home.

According to what's coming to streaming next month via What's On Netflix, Power Rangers will be available to stream on Netflix beginning on Mar. 6. Films that are freshly added to the platform tend to perform well, and it's hopeful that the same will happen to Power Rangers. Did Flight Really Happen? The True Story Behind William 'Whip' Whittaker & Flight 277
Image
Flight follows the fictitious story of Flight 277 and its protagonist William 'Whip" Whitaker played by Denzel Washington, but there is a true story that inspired Flight. The movie was inspired by a real-life event involving a pilot actually inverting a commercial airplane in an attempt to stabilize and save the lives of its passengers. While the unique maneuver used in the movie as well as some of the circumstances surrounding the crash depicted in Flight were loosely based on the real-life event, the true story sadly did not have the same outcome as seen in Robert Zemeckis' movie.

Denzel Washington prepared for the role of Whip Whitaker by practicing on a flight simulator. Besides learning how to convincingly perform as a pilot, Washington also had to learn how to authentically behave like someone battling addiction. In Flight, Whip Whitaker confesses to being inebriated while piloting Flight 277 and saving the airplane from mechanical failure.

Here’s everything we know about Aladdin 2 ( Photo Credit – YouTube )

Disney dropped the bombshell back in 2020: Aladdin 2 was officially a go! Fans were ready for another magic carpet ride after the unexpected 2019 smash-hit success of Guy Ritchie’s live-action remake. But, as the year passed, the sequel’s genie seemed to slip back into the lamp. Are there any updates from Disney? Virtually silent. The excitement? Well, it hit a snag — a few times.

Mena Massoud: The Leading Man’s Frustration

Mena Massoud, who dazzled audiences as Aladdin, wasn’t shy about the project’s rollercoaster ride. “They were trying to get it off the ground for a long time,” he confessed post-2023 strike but then came the gut punch. “It’s been six years since we wrapped the project,” Massoud added resignedly. Despite initial buzz, Aladdin 2 felt like it had slipped into a sandstorm of uncertainty,...

10 Weirdest Zords in Power Rangers
Image
There are many iconic aspects of the Power Rangers franchise, including the multicolored costumes and helmets, the rubber-suited monsters, and, of course, the Megazords. These giant robots have become an essential component, with every iteration of Power Rangers featuring several Megazord variations.

As every Megazord is made up of individual Zords, each season of Power Rangers introduces a large variety that come together to form the giant robot. With the sheer volume of Zords in the 30 seasons of the series, some stand out as memorable and well-designed. However, some stand out as weirder than others, whether for their design, concept, or adaptation from the Japanese counterpart, Super Sentai.

The 2017 Power Rangers Movie Megazord Looked Like a Transformer

With the rise of superhero movies in the last decade, many wondered when Power Rangers would get a theatrical film in the style of blockbusters from the MCU and the Dceu. The 2017 Power Rangers film had mixed reviews,...

Witchboard 2 and 3 Blu-ray releases postponed indefinitely
Image
Update: Since revealing that the Witchboard 2 Blu-ray release was postponed indefinitely, Kevin S. Tenney also took to his Facebook account to confirm that a Blu-ray release for the 1995 film Witchboard III: The Possession is caught in the same sad situation. In fact, it’s even sadder that a Blu-ray release of Witchboard III has been postponed indefinitely, because this would have been the first time the movie was ever released on Blu-ray. This one would have featured an on-camera interview with lead actress Elizabeth Lambert, who was credited on the film as Locky Lambert. These Blu-rays were meant to be part of a Witchboard Blu-ray bundle, much like the Night of the Demons Blu-ray bundle that was released by Scream Factory a while back. Hopefully we’ll get to see this release happen someday… but for now, we can only wait and hope.

Brian Cox, Kelly Reilly, and Brooklynn Prince in Little Wing (2024)
Little Wing review – Brian Cox wasted in underwhelming YA drama
Brian Cox, Kelly Reilly, and Brooklynn Prince in Little Wing (2024)
Succession actor is a one of many discordant parts in this coming-of-age saga about pigeons, which are the best thing about the movie

The coming-of-age drama Little Wing opens with two facts, both quoted from the 2006 New Yorker article of the same name by Susan Orlean. The first: “Americans move, on average, every five years; pigeons almost never move.” The second: that racing pigeons “have a fixed, profound and nearly incontrovertible sense of home”.

The title card successfully imparts a few facts about the film, which premieres this week on the streaming service Paramount+. One, that Little Wing, directed by Dean Israelite from a screenplay by John Gatins, will awkwardly interweave human concerns with the very different realities of pigeons, who are indeed fascinating and the best thing about this movie. And that the film will attempt to vest such comparisons with certain deep insights about our sense of belonging and home.

Scariest Moments in the MonsterVerse
Image
The MonsterVerse, Hollywood's take on Toho's classic kaijus, is a mix of genres and styles, but its roots are firmly planted in horror. This is unsurprising since Titans like Godzilla are ancient monsters who could destroy the world if they wanted to. As such, the MonsterVerse exerted a lot of effort in depicting the awe and horror the Titans inspire.

Whether it was the unquestionably terrifying Godzilla (2014) or its more action-packed sequel, Godzilla Vs. Kong, the MonsterVerse's movies did a great job of scaring audiences and longtime kaiju fans. What's even more impressive is that some of the MonsterVerse's scariest moments weren't even the Titans' doing, but the humans'.

Aladdin 2: Will Smith to reportedly star as the Genie is Disney’s live-action sequel
Image
Nothing kicks the week off like a good rumor. According to The Sun, Will Smith is reprising his role as the Genie in Disney’s Aladdin 2. The live-action sequel would be Smith’s first role since he slapped the taste out of Chris Rock’s mouth at the Oscars. Ever since “the Slap,” Smith stepped back from the spotlight to reflect on his actions, learn from the incident, and re-position himself for a Hollywood comeback. According to IMDb, Andrea Berloff and John Gatins will write the Guy Ritchie-directed sequel, inspired by the One Thousand And One Nights series of Middle Eastern folk tales. If all goes according to plan, cameras could begin rolling by the end of the year for a 2025 release.

The Sun spoke with an insider close to the film for its report. According to the individual, “This would be one of the first movies Will...

Variety Creative Impact in Screenwriting Award: Andrea Berloff Brings Grit and Gripping Drama to Big Screen
Image
In the late 1990s, after teaching herself screenplay structure by way of reading Viki King’s seminal go-to manual “How to Write a Movie in 21 Days,” Andrea Berloff emerged with her first feature script titled “Liberty,” a comedy set in a small-town Ohio dart tournament.

“I had no idea at that point that there were three acts in a movie — I’d never had a class in it,” says Berloff, who cut her teeth as a theater major at Cornell U., poring over Greek tragedies and Shakespeare’s dramas.

And while “very few people read that script,” the friends who gave “Liberty” a look served as “encouragement to keep writing,” says Berloff, who would go on to option her second, the biopic “Harry and Caresse” to Fine Line (the then-specialty division of New Line) in 2003, pen the Oliver Stone drama “World Trade Center” and net an Academy Award nomination for co-writ- ing,...
