Elena Soarez is a Brazilian screenwriter and a TV series creator and writer. Her 9 feature credits include Me You Them (Cannes Film Festival 2000), House of Sand, (NHK/ Sundance Award for Original Screenplay and nominee for Best Script Satelite Award 2006), Xingu (Panorama Berlin Festival 2012), Father's Chair (World Competition at Sundance Festival 2012 and Best Film by the Audience Choice at Rio International Film Festival 2012). She is also the co-creator and writer of HBO original seriesThe Sons of Carnival ( International Emmy Nominee, 2006), co-creator and writer of Globo TV original series"13 Days Away From The Sun" (2018), and the co-creator and writer of the Netflix original series The Mechanism, that will start streaming in March 2018.
