Looking back on its 50th anniversary, it's hard to imagine slipping anything extra into "Jaws." To even suggest adding anything to Steven Spielberg's perfect film would be like nails on a chalkboard. And yet, there is one significant subplot from Peter Benchley's original book, on which the film is based, that Spielberg quite rightfully omitted. In addition to the battle between the film's three leads and a human-eating machine, Benchley's novel contained something far more scandalous and sordid -- something that's never even hinted at in the movie version. The iconic movie was released in theaters on June 20, 1975, after having run into numerous complications and issues during production. Ferrante, the Fangoria writer who’s best known for directing all six of the Sharknado movies, has come on board as an executive producer!

Voight-Kampff Productions has revealed the poster for Jaws Goes to the Bahamas, a documentary celebrating Jaws: The Revenge featuring new interviews with the cast and crew.

We’ve also learned that Sharknado director Anthony C. Ferrante has joined the project as an executive producer and interview subject.

Directed by Mike Gencarelli, the doc is aiming for a release in July 2027 — marking 40 years since the 1987 film’s debut.

An Indiegogo campaign is underway to help secure funds during pre-production. Perks range from digital and physical copies to producer credits and appearances in the movie.

Directed by Joseph Sargent (The Taking of Pelham One Two Three), the fourth and final Jaws film follows Chief Brody’s widow and her marine biologist son to the Bahamas where they’re targeted by a great white shark.

WeAreMovieGeeks.com attended the TCM Film Festival in Hollywood over the weekend and as usual, it did not disappoint! The theme of this year’s festival was Grand Illusions: Fantastic Worlds On Film and it was chock full of all the sci-fi, fantasy, and film-noir selections anyone could ask for!

The TCM Classic Film Festival opened April 24th with a 45th Anniversary screening of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back at the Tcl Chinese Theater followed by a conversation with filmmaker George Lucas.

Michael Mann, Rob Reiner, Kathy Bates, Aaron Sorkin, Keir Dullea, Sean Young, Barry Bostwick and Eric Braedon are headed to the 16th annual TCM Classic Film Festival this month.

Reiner will chat with Kathy Bates and Aaron Sorkin before screenings of his dramas Misery (1990) and The American President (1995), and for the closing night film, Michael Mann will be on hand for a presentation of his action-packed Heat (1995), whose memorable performances include one from the late Val Kilmer.

The festival takes place April 24-27 in Hollywood.

Other presenters announced Thursday to talk about the making of their films include Dullea for 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Bostwick for The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and Young for Blade Runner (1982).

The 2025 TCM Classic Film Festival has announced its closing night selection, Michael Mann’s “Heat,” which marks its 30th anniversary this year. The 1995 crime drama stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and late actor Val Kilmer; a sequel is in the works, with Adam Driver and Austin Butler rumored to be playing the younger versions of De Niro and Pacino’s respective characters.

The 16th annual festival from Turner Classic Movies (TCM) has a theme of “Grand Illusions: Fantastic Worlds on Film.” The festival will take place April 24 to 27, with the “Heat” screening including a conversation with writer/director Mann. Jaws will be screened during the TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood, which is set to run from April 24th through the 27th. The first three Jaws movies, Jaws, Jaws 2, and Jaws 3-D, will begin streaming on Netflix starting September 1. As for Jaws 2, Benchley and Gottlieb returned to write the script along with Howard Sackler, but Jeannot Szwarc stepped into Spielberg's shoes to direct. Benchley and Gottlieb were joined by Richard Matheson, Guedron Trueblood, and Michael Kane as scribes for the threequel, which was helmed by Joe Alves.

The relatable characters also made Jaws a resounding success. Without a doubt, it remains one of the most celebrated and well-respected horror movies ever released.
