    Prolific Viennese leading actor, on stage from the age of six. Trained at the theatre school of the Vienna Burgthater (1897-99). Ensemble member of the Residenztheater (1900-11). One of the first actors to play Sherlock Holmes on screen in a series of films made by the Kowo-Film AG, 1917 to 1918. During the 1930's, chiefly employed in character roles.
