20 Darkest Animated Disney Villain Deaths
Image
Walt Disney Animation created numerous animated movies, many of which have remained relevant despite being decades old. The studio has taken many risks, pushing the boundaries in storytelling and animated visuals.

Some of their films have been very dark, with the grimmest scenes depicting a villain's death. Many of these deaths have left audiences wondering if the films are appropriate for children. Some deaths have been so dark that audiences and even the characters within the film can't help but feel sorry for the villains.

Updated by Jordan Iacobucci on December 20, 2024: Disney may make family movies, but there's nothing family-friendly about its villains' deaths. From horrific demises to fates worse than death, these are some of the darkest endings for Disney villains. This list has been updated to include additional entries and to adhere to Cbr's current formatting guidelines.

10 Disney Movies That Divided Fans
Image
Walt Disney Pictures has been responsible for some of the greatest children’s movies ever, although the studio's committed fan base is often divided. While some Disney films are undisputed classics beloved by all, there are some releases that audiences have taken issue with, whether due to problematic depictions, outdated stereotypes, or questionable creative decisions. When a studio has so many treasured properties in its catalog, it’s no surprise that fans disagree on many issues.

Even the best Disney movies have divided fans as they debate the merits, themes, and meaning behind cherished animated and live-action releases. Disney’s recent output has led some viewers to wish for a return to the glory days of the Disney Renaissance, while others are more than pleased with the modern CGI-centric approach of the studio's output in the 21st century. As a studio founded more than 100 years ago, it’s no surprise...

10 Movies Disney Should Remake Using The Muppets
Image
It's no secret that a large portion of Disney's revenue in recent years has come from rebooting earlier films. From Cinderella to The Lion King and beyond, Disney has been producing live-action remakes of tons of their classic animated films, with even more of these projects currently in the works. However, one must begin to wonder whether straightforward, live-action recreations are really the most effective way for Disney to bring these classic stories back to life. With many of the live-action remakes garnering less-than-stellar reviews, one must start to question whether Disney should consider exploring an alternate path.

Fortunately, one Disney property could open many doors for the company. Back in 2004, Disney made a deal in which they received ownership of the beloved group of colorful performers known as the Muppets. With audiences growing tired of live-action adaptations that don't do much to enhance the original stories, Disney ought to...

Beauty & The Beast's Belle Becomes A Winter Princess In Stunningly Detailed Disney Cosplay
Image
Raava64's Belle Beauty & The Beast cosplay adds a seasonal twist to the beloved Disney princess' iconic gown that makes her ready for the coming winter season. A booksmart girl from a small provincial town in France voiced by Paige O'Hara in 1991's beloved animated movie, Belle finds herself an unwilling guest of the Beast (Robby Benson), but soon learns the tragic mistake that led to his transformation, helping him become more human as time progresses. Emma Watson took on the role of Belle in 2017's live-action Beauty and the Beast, for which she earned generally positive reviews.

With the tale as old as time remaining as iconic as ever to this day, cosplayer and streamer raava64 shared her own twist to the Beauty & the Beast character's most recognizable outfit on Reddit.

The Highest Rated Disney Animated Movies, Ranked
Image
Disney movies like Beauty and the Beast and Fantasia showcase creativity and innovation in storytelling and animation. Classic films like Cinderella and Snow White set the foundation for Disney's rich legacy in animation. Modern films like Moana and Zootopia prove that Disney continues to evolve, offering diverse and meaningful narratives.

Disney has been key in developing film and television since it was first formed by Walt Disney in 1923. The studios have rolled out a plethora of projects that explore new themes and new ways of creating movies. Though the company has had to learn from its mistakes over the years through productions that don't meet appropriate criteria in today's world, there are plenty of movies that fans have continued to support.

Rotten Tomatoes has compiled a list of the top-ranked animated Disney movies. The top 10 consist of a real variety of animations, including old classics and animal-based narratives. The array...

Release Date: Nov. 8, 2019

Platforms: PS4

Developer: Kojima Productions

Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment

Genre: Action-adventure

In Death Stranding, you will encounter gigantic, inky whales soaring through stormy skies. You’ll carry a baby in a pod, suspended in mystery fluid, who gives Guillermo del Toro the finger. You’ll giggle at an ad for Norman Reedus’ AMC show, Ride with Norman Reedus. You’ll see crystals shaped like human hands jutting out of the ground. You’ll look up Mads Mikkelsen’s nose (a lot).

Video game auteur Hideo Kojima's latest game is strange, nightmarish, bold, and requires ungodly amounts of patience to complete. It’s a story about family, the cost of progress, the beauties and horrors of modernity, the virtues of finality, and much more. Let's get one thing straight: this game is not for everyone.

Beauty And The Beast: 10 Changes To LeFou From The Animated Movie To The Live-Action
Disney's animated adaptation of Beauty and the Beast hit the big screen in 1991. That year, it won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) and was the first animated film ever to do so. With a budget of $25 million, Beauty and the Beast grossed $425 million at the box office, and the film was a major success.

In 2017, Disney remade the classic tale with a fresh live-action version starring Emma Watson as Belle. The live-action film saw a variety of changes from the original. One of the major ways that the 2017 film deviated from the 1991 version, was the character of LeFou.

Brawny, arrogant, insufferable Gaston's bumbling, naive sidekick was voiced by Jesse Corti in the 1991 movie. In the live-action version, Disney cast Josh Gad for the role. Disney made several changes to LeFou when they remade Beauty and the Beast - many for the better. Let's take...

“I am just a dumb bunny, but, we are good at multiplying!”

When I reviewed Zootopia here at We Are Movie Geeks, I wrote”, the beautifully designed, brightly-hued Zootopia is breezier and bouncier than most. The animation work is dazzling, lovingly detailed without being overdone. I felt like I could reach out and pet these furry critters, especially in eye-popping 3D.” (read all of my review Here)

Now you can own Zootopia on Blu-ray thanks to Walt Disney Animation Studios!

Zootopia has broken records worldwide earning more than $900 million at the global box office to date. The best reviewed movie of 2016, critics and audiences around the world have fallen in love with the wonderfully innovative animal metropolis of Zootopia and the comedic chemistry of rookie rabbit officer Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and scam-artist fox Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman). It’s been called one of the best buddy cop comedies in years!

It's doubtful that the new Disney animated comedy Zootopia will bring the same fevered devotion and love as fans have for the studio's 2013 blockbuster Frozen. But that doesn't mean the animators can't have a little fun. They've decided to hide a cool Frozen Easter egg away in this animal-lovers paradise. And we have a new image that shows off this cool treat in all it's glory.

Disney has a long and storied history when it comes to scattering Easter eggs throughout any of their animated movies. And it appears that Zootopia is ready to give Frozen a big shout out. And no, we're not talking about the fact that Kristen Bell, who voices Anna in Frozen, also returns to voice a three-toed sloth in this latest animated adventure.

A new image shows off the icy district of Tundratown, one of the many burgs in the animal kingdom of Zootopia. If you look closely,...

Wonderfully Hilarious Full Trailer For Disney's Zootopia
Disney has released the first full trailer for their upcoming animated adventure, Zootopia. I haven't seen a lot of hype surrounding this movie since it was first announced, but maybe this full-length trailer will change that. I've already seen some of this footage because they screened some stuff at D23 earlier this year, and I've enjoyed everything that I've seen from this movie so far. This is a great trailer that shows you some of the funny humor that the movie will include, and I really think Disney fans are going to get a kick out of it. The sloth character that you'll be introduced to in this trailer is freakin' hysterical. It's such a funny concept for a character.

Last week, Walt Disney Animation Studios unveiled a new poster for Zootopia, which featured both of the main characters, rookie cop Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and con artist Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman). Today, the studio has released a new trailer, which showcases one of the stumbling blocks Judy runs into on her latest case: the Department of Mammal Vehicles (Dmv), which is run entirely by sloths. Anyone who has spent time at the human Dmv can relate to the agonizingly slow pace of this facility, as Nick introduces Judy to the "fastest" sloth at the Dmv, Flash (voiced by Raymond S. Persi).

The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. But when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox,...

Disney Animation's Zootopia Reveals New Characters and Cast Members
Disney's upcoming animated film Zootopia looks like it's going to a ridiculously funny and entertaining film. I got to see some footage from it at D23 this past summer, and I thought the stuff that the studio shared was great.

The voice cast for the film originally included Jason Bateman, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Shakira. Now, thanks to USA Today, we have some information on the rest of the voice cast and the characters that they will be playing. We even have images and information for each of those characters. But first, here's the synopsis:

Robby Benson and Paige O'Hara in La Belle et la Bête (1991)
Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' Gets 'Frozen' Star Josh Gad
Robby Benson and Paige O'Hara in La Belle et la Bête (1991)
After playing the beloved snowman Olaf in Disney's animated blockbuster Frozen, actor Josh Gad has signed on to play LeFou in the studio's live-action version of Beauty and the Beast. The actor joins a growing cast that includes Emma Watson (Belle), Luke Evans (Gaston) and Dan Stevens (The Beast). The character Le Fou was not featured in the original fairy tale by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont, but was created specifically for Disney's 1991 animated version of Beauty and the Beast, one of the few animated movies to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.

In the animated Beauty and the Beast, LeFou was the sidekick of the villainous Gaston. LeFou was voiced by Jesse Corti. The story follows Belle, who takes her father's place as a prisoner of the Beast, where she learns that he is actually a prince. After Belle falls for the Beast, Gaston leads an angry mob to kill him.

Josh Gad Is LeFou In Disney's "Beauty"
Another name has been added to the cast of Bill Condon's live-action adaptation of the Disney classic "Beauty and the Beast".

Josh Gad has signed on to play LeFou, the sidekick of the villainous Gaston (Luke Evans) in the upcoming film. Jesse Corti voiced the character in the original 1991 film.

LeFou was a creation of the film, not Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont's original fairy tale, so his inclusion reaffirms rumors that the film is expected to be a musical and fairly close adaptation of the Disney cartoon. That has not yet been confirmed by the studio.

The actor, who recently worked with Disney as the voice of Olaf in "Frozen," joins a growing cast that also includes Emma Watson (Belle) and Dan Stevens (The Beast).

Condon directs from a screenplay by Evan Spiliotopoulos and Stephen Chbosky. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing with filming to begin in the UK later this year.

Irrational Reveals The Full Voice Cast For 'Bioshock Infinite'
Troy Baker will be playing Booker while Courtnee Draper takes on the role of Elizabeth as Irrational lays out the "Mass Effect," "Kingdom Hearts II," and "Sealab 2021" vets among the cast portraying the heroes and villains of "Bioshock Infinite."

You can find the full cast list after the jump.

The coolest thing about this cast list is that it's populated by veteran voice actors and not simply sprinkled liberally with television and film actors putting in a couple of hours in the booth. "Dishonored" had a great cast of performers turning in one of the more uninspired collection of voice overs in recent memory.

Courtnee Draper

Review: Beauty and the Beast 3D
Beauty And The Beast 3D

Review by LondonFilmFan

Stars (the voices of): Paige O’Hara, Robby Benson, Richard White, Jerry Orbach, Angela Lansbury, David Ogden Stiers | Written by Linda Woolverton, Roger Allers | Directed by Gary Trousdale, Kirk Wise

With the immense box office success of The Lion King‘s 3D conversion last year, it was only a matter of time before similar films followed suit. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is highly regarded as an animated classic, so who is to argue with a 3D theatrical re-release then? Well, this reviewer volunteers (may as well add “as tribute” since this unpopular opinion just might spell my end). Over twenty years after its initial release, there seems little reason for the film to be occupying cinema space again.

While the hand-drawn animation has an uneven charm, there isn’t much that holds up visually when compared with modern animation.

As the character travels, she moves through surroundings that look as if they were painted by a French impressionist. From a remote village to the foliage of a jungle, the animated world art director Benoît Chieux...

Exclusive Early Character Test Rendering: Night of the Living Dead Origins
We recently got our hands on some old test render footage from the upcoming Night of the Living Dead: Origins project helmed by our buddy Zeb De Soto.

Even though this was a very early test, what really stands out are the facial features and how natural their animation is. Zeb actually developed his own facial capture system to achieve these results, and we have to say the expressiveness in the eyes especially is pretty impressive. And it's fast, too. Capture one hour of motion data, and you can sync it up to your footage in fraction of that time.

Obivously this is not a finished product, but if the stills we were sent a few weeks back are any indication, Zeb's efforts are certainly worth checking out.

Having developed his own 3D motion capture setup called The Beast, and now creating a really impressive facial capture system, Zeb De...

New Night of the Living Dead: Origins Promo
New promo art has finally been released for the upcoming Zebediah de Soto CGI movie 'Night of the Living Dead: Origins'. The image appeared on the official Facebook page for the flick and respawns the overused undead tagline 'when there is no more room in hell...'. Check it out below. 'New York, a city of the hopes and dreams for many Americans, lies in ruin. The streets and skyscrapers that symbolized the strength and prosperity of a people have become places of horror and despair. The cultural hub of the western world is now home to only ash and blood. For the few people left alive there is only one dream Survival. Zombies, the living dead, have taken the city. Ben and Barbra find themselves trapped and fighting to escape the hordes of undead that walk the streets.' And voicing the CGI characters? None other than...

New promo art for ‘Night of the Living Dead: Origins’
Coming via the films official Facebook page is this all-new promo art for Zebediah De Soto’s Night of the Living Dead: Origins. The film is a 3D CGI re-imagining of the George A. Romero zombie classic, but not in the traditional sense. According to De Soto:

I want to see a helicopter clipping its propeller on a building and careening into a crowd of people. Zombies going through the streets. A thousand people tearing each other apart, zombies tearing them apart, total chaos. One of the first horror films I owned was Night of the Living Dead, it made a huge impression on me. There are all of these interesting little back stories in terms of the other characters, but we only got to follow Barbara in the original. They were always describing these really big scenes, like Ben says a truck is chased down by a horde of zombies.

Character Pics For Night of the Living Dead: Origins
What are the CGI-characters going to look like in Night of the Living Dead: Origins? Find out!

Night of the Living Dead: Origins, Zebediah De Soto's CGI-rendered remake of the classic George Romero tale, now has a Facebook page, where it released a couple character pictures. We approached this apprehensively, as we would any Romero remake, and so far, the movie looks much like a video game cut scene.

Still, we're anxious to see a trailer and find out if De Soto can deliver on an American classic. He has brought Tony Todd in to voice the character of Ben, which Todd has experience playing from Tom Savini's Night of the Living Dead remake. (at one point, Mos Def was mentioned for the role).

New York, a city of the hopes and dreams for many Americans, lies in ruin. The streets and skyscrapers that symbolized the strength and prosperity...

Exclusive: More Night of the Living Dead: Origins Images
More exclusive artwork has come our way for Zebediah de Soto's upcoming 3D animated feature film Night of the Living Dead: Origins, and like everything else we've seen from this project, things are lookin' pretty damned cool.

"I wanted to make this look like a living Monet; it's expressionism," de Soto said in an earlier interview. "It's going to be the first zombie movie played on a epic scale. This is the 'Empire of the Sun' of zombie films ... I lived through the L.A. riots and saw the city on fire; I remember seeing people running, people getting pulled out of cars. And with 9/11, these images have been ingrained on people of my generation. I just thought that is the way it would really be, a lot of chaos."

Director de Soto, who also pulls co-writing duties on the project, describes Notld: Origins, which will be in 3D,...

Tony Todd in Night of the Living Dead: Origins
We were just talking about how the wicked, animated zombie flick A.D. was shaping up and now the fellas at Dread Central have scored an exclusive look at Tony Todd reprising his role of "Ben" in the 3D prequel, Night of The Living Dead: Origins. I'm so giddy that I'm getting the shakes! However, Tony isn't the only person reprising his role from the 1990 remake. Read more about this American Zombie Anime in 3D.

Yes it's true. Tony Todd is reprising the role of "Ben". Originally the role was thought to be filled by Hip Hop artist Mos Def but he apparently dropped out. As far as we're concerned this couldn't be better news. Todd already has experience with this role and character when he played Ben back in Tom Savini's 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead. Bill Moseley will also be reprising his 1990 remake role as...

Awesome First Look at 'Night of the Living Dead: Origins'
Of all the films in production, the one I might be most excited for is Zebediah de Soto's Night Of The Living Dead: Origins, a new animated 3D feature starring Tony Todd, Jesse Corti, Danielle Harris, Bill Moseley, Joe Pilato, Alona Tal and Cornell Womack. Zeb has impressed me off the scale in previous years and I'm quite sure whatever he puts out will be quite simply stunning. Beyond the break you'll find your first ever look at Tony Todd as Ben from the film that once again follows a group of humans trying to stay alive during a zombie attack.

More Cast Added to Night of the Living Dead: Origins
Danielle Harris is getting some help fighting off the zombie hordes in writer-director Zebediah De Soto's "re-imagining" of George Romero's horror classic Night of the Living Dead, titled Night of the Living Dead: Origins.

THR reports that Bill Moseley (1990's Night of the Living Dead), Joe Pilato (Romero's Day of the Dead), Alona Tal (Supernatural), Jesse Corti (Heroes) and Cornell Womack (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) will join the previously cast Harris to do voice work on the CGI-animated movie. Moseley will play Johnny, Harris' brother, while Pilato and Tal will play the voice of the Coopers, the couple who argue to stay in the basement in Romero's original. Corti will play a no-nonsense New York cop and Womack a news reporter.

Moseley and Pialto's ties to Romero are no coincidence, and De Soto calls the casting "a nod to Romero fans. Horror is a genre and zombie movies...
