After 48 seasons, “Inside the NFL” is getting a brand new home — and is being rebooted dramatically into a completely different kind of show.

Since its launch on HBO in 1977, “Inside the Nfls” has been an hour-long commentary, analysis and highlights show focused on America’s top professional football league. But starting Sep. 8, it will return as an extremely short form web series streaming exclusively on Elon Musk’s social media platform X.

NFL Films has committed to producing at least 10 short episodes a week through Super Bowl 2026, which takes place on Feb. 8. It will continue to be produced by NFL Films. ESPN NFL analyst and former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark will host.

Inside the NFL will return for the 2025-2026 season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned, but the long-running studio show is getting a wholesale reboot, changing formats, and moving to a new home: X, the tech platform controlled by Elon Musk.

Inside the NFL on X will debut its first episode on Sept. 8, with plans to release at least 10 short-form episodes each week leading up to next year’s Super Bowl on Feb. 8. NFL Films will continue to produce the series. Ryan Clark, the ESPN NFL analyst and former safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will host the show, though NFL Films executives suggest that other names could join him as the season progresses.

Fall is always a busy time of year for television. New shows premiere and the holiday blockbuster season starts. So that means late-night TV lineups are full of big-name stars looking to promote their latest projects. Throw in everything going on post-election, and late-night TV has a lot on its pre-Thanksgiving plate.

The 2024 season opener for “Monday Night Football” averaged 20.5 million viewers across ESPN, ABC, ESPN2, ESPN+, ESPN Deportes and NFL+.

The San Francisco 49ers’ win against the New York Jets marked the program’s second-most-watched Week 1 match-up in the program’s 19 seasons on ESPN, beating the 19.8 million viewers who tuned in to watch the 2022 match-up between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks.

Still, viewership for the Sept. 9 game came in lower than last year’s face-off between the Buffalo Bills and the Jets, which holds the record for the most-watched Week 1 game at 22.7 million viewers. Belichick is joining the sports network with his own talk show, The Breakdown, which he will co-host alongside Peyton Manning. The show will premiere on Friday, September 6, on ESPN+ ahead of the match between the New York Jets and the San Francisco 49ers.

Jason Kelce has landed his first gig post NFL. Kelce, who recently retired from the Philadelphia Eagles, is heading to ESPN to be part of its Monday Night Countdown pregame show, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to Deadline. He reportedly had been sought after by multiple networks. The news was first reported by The Athletic.

The show is currently hosted by Scott Van Pelt and a panel including Robert Griffin III, Adam Schefter, Ryan Clark, Marcus Spears and Michelle Beisner-Buck.

The deal is expected to be announced during the ESPN/Disney upfront presentation to advertisers on May 14. ESPN declined comment.

The Pivot podcast host Ryan Clark has heard the discourse about what Jonathan Owens said about wife Simone Biles on an episode of his show, and he is not here for it.

In a video posted on social media, Clark recounted the conversation he had with football safety, noting that he was telling the story of how he met Biles with so much love in his eyes, and now his joke about being the catch for the gymnast is being blown out of proportion.

“Every time they looked at one another, you can tell how beautiful [their meet] was to them,” he said. “But everyone has now twisted that and taken that and made it something negative. But what people haven’t done is watch the entire show.”

He explained that Owens talked about how Biles changed his life and how as soon as they met, it was history. They were immediately connected.

The CW is tapping Super Bowl Champion and former NFL safety Ryan Clark as the host of its weekly studio series “Inside the NFL,” which will premiere Sept. 5.

Clark’s career as a safety spanned 13 seasons and included a Super Bowl Xliii title and two AFC Championships. He played a majority of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2006-13), two years with the New York Giants (2002-03) and two stints with the Washington Redskins (2004-05 and 2014).

He currently serves as an analyst on ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” and regularly appears on ESPN’s “NFL Live,” “First Take,” “Get Up” and “SportsCenter.” In January 2022, Clark launched “The Pivot Podcast” with Crowder and Fred Taylor.

Well, now we know what that next step might look like for Van Pelt.

The longtime ESPN anchor will become the new host of Monday Night Countdown, the network’s popular NFL pregame show. He replaces Suzy Kolber, who had hosted the program since 2015 but was let go last month in a wave of layoffs.

Pundits are speculating that the move puts Van Pelt in line to host the Super Bowl when and if the network and corporate cousin ABC land it.
