Rumer Willis, the eldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, penned a heartbreaking Father's Day tribute to her dad amid his battle with frontotemporal dementia (Ftd). She admitted to finding the day "hard" in an emotionally charged message she composed in the caption of an Instagram post that featured a carousel of photos of her and her father over the years, including one of the Die Hard star with her daughter Louetta. She also expressed gratitude for the precious moments that she gets to spend with him, writing candidly:
"Today is hard, I feel a deep ache in my chest to talk to you and tell you everything I'm doing and what's going on in my life. To hug you and ask you about life and your stories and struggles and successes. I wish I asked you more questions while you could still tell me about it all. But...

Alf Clausen, the veteran composer recognized for his long-running, Emmy-winning work on nearly 600 episodes of The Simpsons, as well as the Bruce Willis-led drama series Moonlighting, died on Thursday at the age of 84 after a nearly decade-long battle with Parkinson’s disease. His daughter, Kaarin Clausen, announced his passing on social media. "He left a huge mark on this world and has touched the lives of millions, and I’m so proud to call him ‘Dad,’” she wrote in a longer tribute. “Rest easy, Maestro. I will miss you every day.”
Born on March 28, 1941, in Minneapolis, Clausen had a long background in music, earning degrees from North Dakota State University, the University of Wisconsin, and Boston’s Berklee College of Music before going on to study under Oscar-nominated composer Earle Hagen. He'd eventually move to Los Angeles in 1967, initially earning some extra money as a music copyist for films...

Alf Clausen, the veteran composer with two Emmy wins and 30 nominations whose whimsical scores brightened such television series as The Simpsons, Moonlighting and, purely coincidentally, Alf, has died. He was 84.
Clausen died Thursday at his Valley Village home in Los Angeles, his daughter, Kaarin Clausen, told The Hollywood Reporter. He was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy about eight years ago, she said.
From The Simpsons‘ second season in 1990 until its 28th in 2017, Clausen crafted many of the spirited melodies that contributed to the cutting-edge lunacy of the Fox animated show. From 23 Emmy nominations, he — along with lyricist Ken Keeler — won in 1997 and ’98 for the songs “We Put the Spring in Springfield” and “You’re Checkin’ In (A Musical Tribute to the Betty Ford Center).”
His harmonious relationship with the show would not last, however, with Clausen filing a lawsuit against Disney and Fox in August 2019 after he was dismissed from The Simpsons.

Dennis Quaid is the movie star who inexplicably never was. The Houston-born hellraiser with the devil-may-care grin flashed palpable leading man potential with his portrayal of the former star quarterback who finds a measure of redemption astride a bicycle in Peter Yates' wonderful coming-of-age sports flick "Breaking Away." This potential turned into a veritable guarantee of future A-list dominance when he swaggered his way through "The Right Stuff" as Project Mercury astronaut Gordon Cooper. Who's the best actor you ever saw? You might just be looking at him.
Quaid was almost always great, but the films that were supposed to launch him to superstardom kept underperforming. Wolfgang Petersen's "Enemy Mine," an underrated sci-fi riff on "The Defiant Ones," was horribly mis-marketed by 20th Century Fox, Joe Dante's brilliant "Innerspace" got hung out to dry by Warner Bros. over the 1987 July 4th holiday, and Jim McBride's wild-sexy New Orleans noir "The Big Easy,...

Bruce Willis is celebrating his 70th birthday, and his daughter, Rumer Willis, has provided a positive update on her father's health amid his ongoing dementia battle. The Die Hard actor and ex-wife Demi Moore's eldest child, who is now 36, took to her Instagram Stories for a Q&a with fans, where, according to Daily Mail, she addressed how her dad is doing, more than two years on from his frontotemporal dementia (Ftd) diagnosis.
The Hollywood star, widely known for his roles in action films, particularly his portrayal of John McClane in the Die Hard franchise, as well as memorable turns in movies of different genres, such as Pulp Fiction and The Fifth Element, announced he was stepping away from acting in 2022 after initially being diagnosed with aphasia. People talk about Moonlighting all the time, but it had once been impossible to go back and watch the dramedy starring Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd as a detective and out-of-work model whose will they/won’t they romance helped change relationships on television. Now, it’s on Hulu (since October 2023), and getting it there was a feat, but one that creator Glenn Gordon Caron had been trying to make happen for a while. “I [once] said to Jeffrey Katzenberg when he was at Disney, ‘Is there any way I could buy the negatives from you?'” he recalled to TV Insider for the release. The hold-up: the music. “In five seasons, I think we only did 66 shows. We used 300 songs. The idea of going back and renegotiating with all those people when effectively they have you over a barrel was not something any studio was looking forward to,” he explained.

Michael Weatherly always had a knack for spotting the quirks that made NCIS stand out, or, in this case, blend in a little too much. Reflecting on the show’s massive global reach, the former Agent Dinozzo revealed why some countries thought NCIS was just a clever knockoff of CSI.

From the crime-solving formula to the occasional witty banter, Weatherly noted how the show often skirted the edge of parody, saying it was “almost like spoofing it.”

Michael Weatherly once revealed a curious twist in how NCIS is perceived abroad. In countries like France, audiences often mistook the show’s lighter, comedic tone for a parody of CSI. But hold up, Weatherly never claimed NCIS was designed to spoof its crime-drama cousin.

Bruce Willis’ daughters Scout and Tallulah shared a rare Thanksgiving photo with their father to Instagram in which he’s holding a plaque that reads “Best Dad Ever.” The caption read simply, “Grateful.”
The former actor, who is now 69, was diagnosed with aphasia, a cognitive disorder that affects one’s ability to communicate, in March 2022, before receiving a more specific dementia diagnosis in Feb. 2023.
Last year, Glenn Gordon Caron, the creator of “Moonlighting,” the ’80s sitcom that shot Willis to stardom, told the New York Post that even though the actor was “not totally verbal” and no longer reading, he was “still Bruce.”

Until Hulu did the lord's work and brought back Glenn Gordon Caron's "Moonlighting" last year, the series that launched Bruce Willis' career and solidified Cybill Shepherd's had been languishing for seemingly ages in a digital netherworld where its fans could not access it and potential newcomers had zero chance of discovering it. This would've been unthinkable during the show's 1985-1987 heyday, when the live-wire romantic chemistry of its leads and the inventive mystery plotting of Caron and his writers -- who once plunged their "Moonlighting" protagonists into a Shakespearian reverie -- made it must-see television. "Moonlighting" was hilarious, smart and ridiculously sexy.
And just as fast as it peaked, it was gone.
While the rerelease of "Moonlighting" on Hulu confirmed that it was every bit as fresh and funny as we remembered, bringing it all back meant revisiting its untimely demise. How could a show with two dynamic...

The youngest daughter of Die Hard star and Hollywood icon Bruce Willis, Tallulah Willis, has offered an update on how her father is doing following his retirement from acting amid health issues. Bruce Willis, who has of course been one of the worlds biggest movie stars for decades, took the decision to walk away from acting in 2022 due to aphasia and was later diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
Now, in an interview with E! News, Tallulah Willis has opened up about her fathers health, saying that he is doing about the same as he was a year ago. Which, she says, is a good thing considering his recent diagnosis.

When Bruce Willis announced his retirement from acting in 2022 due to his condition, his dream to play one role in a film franchise ended. Willis was a big fan of the James Bond films. After watching Javier Bardem portray an exceptional villain in Daniel Craig’s Skyfall, Willis openly stated in 2013 that he was up for playing a big baddie in the next Bond film.

Oscar-winning actress Patricia Arquette chaired a career masterclass this afternoon at Series Mania in Lille, France, where she served as this year’s guest of honor.
Topics up for discussion during the session ranged from Arquette’s childhood growing up on a “hippie” commune with her parents in rural Virginia alongside her career as an actress, working with filmmakers like Martin Scorsese, Richard Linklater, and David Lynch.
“He gives you a lot of freedom,” Arquette said of Lynch, whom she worked with on his 1997 surrealist feature Lost Highway.
Lynch’s Lost Highway, like many of his films of the 90s, is a project focused on gender, sexuality, and sensuality. Growing up with Nick at Nite, there was one classic series that I adored above all others: "I Dream of Jeannie." Comparisons to that other '60s rom-com fantasy about a supernatural lady causing mayhem in the suburbs be damned, Sidney Sheldon's sitcom was just the blast of silliness that I craved as a kiddo.
As an adult, I've also come to appreciate that easily-rattled U.S. Air Force pilot Anthony "Tony" Nelson (Larry Hagman), his amiable buddy and co-worker Roger Healey (Bill Daily), and Barbara Eden's trouble-making, wish-granting genie ... Jeannie were clearly in a throuple but had to play coy about it to avoid ruffling their neighbors' feathers. Not that they were all that careful about maintaining their cover, what with Roger constantly strolling into Tony and Jeannie's humble abode uninvited with the casualness of someone who definitely doesn't secretly live there. Y'all ain't as slick as you think you are!

Update: In addition to being available on Hulu, the classic Bruce WIllis/ Cybill Shepherd series, Moonlighting, is now coming to digital retailers like iTunes and more. So if you want to own a digital copy of the show, now’s your chance. One caveat: no news on whether the show will be available in Canada, with it still absent from Disney Star here north of the border, making it seem like the music rights are keeping the show from being more widely available.

All 67 episodes of the classic comedy series starring Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd will be available to stream on the service beginning on October 10, 2023.

Hollywood star Bruce Willis was spotted out walking in public for the first time in months as he continues to deal with his dementia diagnosis.
The Hollywood star, 68, has kept himself largely out of the public eye since his family confirmed his frontotemporal dementia condition earlier this year. Any images of the star have largely consisted of him surrounding by his family or sitting in a vehicle with security guards, reports mirror.co.uk.
However, the latest images showed the ‘Die Hard’ actor seemingly in good spirits as he took to the streets around breakfast time on Monday in Santa Monica.
The actor was seen wearing casual clothes, including a plaid shirt, quilted jacket, grey joggers and a grey New York baseball cap.
He also opted for comfy grey laceless trainers and was said to have given a thumbs up to passers-by.

When “Moonlighting” premiered on ABC on March 3, 1985, with a two-hour movie, all the ingredients for what a blockbuster the show became were in place. Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis had undeniable chemistry; the verbal dexterity was on full display; and the ingredients for what would become the show’s signature physical comedy was there in the climactic moment at the airport. No, wait, at the top of the Capitol Records building. No, no, it was at the top of the Eastern Columbia Building in downtown Los Angeles. The full sequence is one of the most thrilling, vertigo-inducing action moments of any TV series then or today, as audiences are discovering now that “Moonlighting” is streaming on Hulu. Not only is the building itself gorgeous, but as reluctant new partners in a detective agency on their first case, Shepherd and Willis dangle over the edge and clamber onto a horizontal ladder directly over downtown L.

Moonlighting, now streaming on Hulu, was a huge network hit in the 1980s and helped define the era of Prestige TV. Its biggest problem was the production schedule, but on streaming viewers don't have to wait or endure too many reruns. Moonlighting was ahead of its time and a streaming audience could make it a hit once again, just like Suits on Netflix.
The way television is watched may have changed, but audiences aren't all that different today as they were nearly 40 years ago. Thanks to streaming services, "old" shows find new audiences all the time. Suits became a hit on Netflix in 2023, despite the legal drama ending its run on cable in 2019. Moonlighting, which just debuted on Hulu, ended 30 years before Suits, but it could become a massive hit once again. Despite existing for more than a decade, streaming as a mainstream "content delivery" system is still relatively new.

The NBC/CBS procedural show Medium ran from 2005 to 2011, revolving around self-proclaimed psychic investigator Allison Dubois (Patricia Arquette), with show creator Glenn Gordon Caron’s writing pertaining to real-life cases involving the celebrity medium. Arquette portrayed a fictionalized version of her real-life counterpart, with the character working as a consultant for Arizona District Attorney Manuel Devalos (Miguel Sandoval), and utilizing her abilities to solve violent murders. The show injected supernatural realism into a show already grounded in reality. The grisly focus of the show was offset by the normalcy of Allison’s family life, who’d worked hard to keep her private and professional life separate. In the series' three-part Recapitator arc, Allison’s good intentions would result in both worlds colliding with severe consequences — thanks to the duplicity of Neve Campbell’s ruthless reporter P.D. McCall.

After a protracted process securing the music rights for streaming, Moonlighting is finally lighting up television screens again, newly remastered and available on Hulu. The five-season series aired on ABC between 1985 and 1989 and starred Cybill Shepherd as Maddie Hayes, a former model-turned-business owner, and Bruce Willis as David Addison Jr., the detective with whom she starts a private-eye business. Creator Glenn Gordon Caron told TV Insider this month that William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew inspired the show. “I thought, if you could catch the funny, sort of violent, sort of passionate, nonetheless heartfelt — you’re looking at these two people, [who] hate each other [and] are made for each other, the contradictions,” Caron said. “If you could figure out a way to do that in a modern setting, that would be wildly entertaining. That’s really what Moonlighting is or at least ...

Neiman Marcus welcomed Schiaparelli’s creative director, Daniel Roseberry, to Los Angeles with Demi Moore and her daughter, Scout Willis, among the well-wishers.
Both wearing Schiaparelli, Moore and Scout looked beautiful for the welcome party.
Moore wore a white suit with black swirls and Scout donned an all-black outfit with gold buttons.
Scout, 32, is the second daughter of Moore and action star Bruce Willis. In addition to Scout, they also share Rumer, 35, and Tallulah, 29.
Though Moore and Willis are no longer together and have moved on with different people, they have remained close, as Moore continues to support Willis amid his dementia diagnosis.
Willis retired from acting in March 2022 after he was diagnosed with aphasia. A year later, his family announced that it had progressed to frontotemporal dementia.

Moonlighting was known in the 1980s for its witty writing and the "will they or won't they" premise. Moonlighting is believed to have lost its way towards the end of Season 3, but this isn't actually the case. Moonlighting suffered from both narrative and behind-the-scenes challenges, ultimately leading to its decline.
Moonlighting -- the wildly successful 1980s detective show that made Bruce Willis a star -- has finally found a streaming home on Hulu. New audiences will get to see all five seasons of the show that their parents remember so fondly. Longtime fans can go back and rewatch it as well, though maybe not all five seasons.
There's a consensus among fans that Moonlighting lost its way somewhere during its five years on ABC. Relying on the chemistry of its two leads, the series was widely enjoyed for its wit and its "will they or won't they" premise. Many fans...

The decade of the 1980s threw a little bit of everything at us when it came to television genres. There were police procedurals like Hill Street Blues, mindless action fare like The A-Team and Knight Rider, medical dramas including St. Elsewhere, and of course, the uber-popular wealthy family nighttime soaps Dallas, Dynasty, and Falcon Crest. But among all these various styles of hour-long serials, there was one show that stood out from the rest for being the perfect combination of all of them, yet a unicorn unto itself: the Glenn Gordon Caron-created mystery comedy series Moonlighting.

“Moonlighting” was more than a watercooler show. It was an obsession. Episodes were taped and rewatched. And for good reason. There had never been a anything on the small screen like the 1985-89 ABC romantic screwball comedy detective series. The rapid-fire dialogue recalled such Howard Hawks’ classics as 1938’s ‘Bringing Up Baby” and 1940’ “His Girl Friday.” Fourth walls were broken. There was a black-and-white episode and even and wild and crazy take on William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew.” That was just the tip of the innovations.
Creator and executive producer Glenn Gordon Caron told me in a 2000 L.A. Times interview that ABC didn’t give him total freedom when it came to the episodes: “The truth is no one let me do everything. I just did it. Ignorance is bliss. There were rules and I chose not to listen to anybody. At a certain point, the network said- ‘This is working.

The creator of the classic '80s ABC series Moonlighting says Bruce Willis is "still Bruce" despite his ongoing health struggles.
Moonlighting series creator and producer Glenn Gordon Caron spoke to the New York Post to promote all five seasons of the Bruce Willis and Cybill Sheppard series coming to Hulu. During the interview, Caron detailed his most recent interaction with Willis since the actor went public about his battle with dementia. "My sense is the first one to three minutes he knows who I am," Caron said. "He’s not totally verbal; he used to be a voracious reader — he didn’t want anyone to know that — and he’s not reading now. All those language skills are no longer available to him, and yet he’s still Bruce."

Moonlighting is finally available for streaming, and creator Glenn Gordon Caron knows that star Bruce Willis — who starred opposite Cybill Shepherd on the ‘80s-era ABC dramedy — is “really happy” about that. “When I got to spend time with him, we talked about it, and I know he’s excited,” Caron told the New York Post. “I know it means a lot to him.” Caron, who said he visits Willis every month or so, offered an update on the actor’s battle with frontotemporal dementia — a neurological condition that can cause unusual behaviors, emotional problems, and difficulty communicating and walking, according to the National Institute on Aging. “I have tried very hard to stay in his life. He’s an extraordinary person,” Caron said. “The thing that makes [his disease] so mind-blowing is [that] if you’ve ever spent time with Bruce Willis, there is no one who had any more joie de vivre than he.

Bruce Willis' family confirmed that his aphasia has rendered him mostly incommunicative, taking away his language skills and leaving him without his former joie de vivre. Recent updates suggest that Bruce Willis' acting return is becoming more unlikely, as his condition has advanced and there are currently no specific treatments for his diagnosis of aphasia. Despite his health concerns, Bruce Willis leaves behind a significant legacy in film, showcasing his talent in action, comedy, and drama genres, and receiving support and admiration from collaborators and colleagues.

He shared a health update on Willis, who played detective David Addison opposite Cybill Shepherd’s Maddie Hayes, who owned the Blue Moon Detective Agency.

Moonlighting creator Glenn Gordon Caron discusses how the show recruited Orson Welles, Billy Joel, and Shakespeare to create iconic episodes. The show delivered memorable performances, but three episodes stand out for their creative approach, including dream sequences, musical numbers, and an episode scripted entirely in iambic pentameter. Caron reveals the behind-the-scenes details of the episodes, such as reaching out to Orson Welles, Billy Joel offering a song, and the inspiration behind the episodes.

“Moonlighting” lovers are a dedicated crew — it was the kind of wildly imaginative, smart, sophisticated series that inspired passionate loyalty over the course of its 66 episodes (the two-part pilot is shown as a single episode) and five seasons on the air. What’s even more remarkable about fans’ dedication is the relative rarity of the series; the Glenn Gordon Caron-created genre hybrid has rarely been in regular syndication and its DVD releases have been out of print since 2013.
Not that the DVD releases really satisfied the die-hard fans. Sure, they got to relive just what all the fuss was about when the show took the country by storm back in 1985, as former model Maddie Hayes (Cybill Shepherd) and wise guy detective David Addison (a pre-“Die Hard” Bruce Willis) investigated crimes, bickered, broke the fourth wall, and generally served as television trailblazers up to and including the “Moonlighting” curse...

At long last, this week it was revealed that “Moonlighting,” the formative romantic comedy/drama that made Bruce Willis a household name and cemented Cybill Shepherd place in popular culture, will finally be coming to Hulu next month. Glenn Gordon Caron, who created the show, wasn’t sure it was going to happen either.
“I really thought it was going to be one of those things that was lost to the ages,” he told TheWrap in an interview conducted after the announcement was made. “There’s a moment where you go from being in the zeitgeist to becoming a kind of niche and then frankly, getting lost, just have no currency whatsoever because there’ve been so many other things that have been made that have been more interesting, that are newer. And I very much worried about that. That was a concern of mine.”

There wasn't a funnier or sharper show in the mid-1980s than "Moonlighting." Created by Glenn Gordon Caron, the hour-long ABC series starred Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis as Maddie Hayes and David Addison, perpetually squabbling partners in the Blue Moon Detective Agency. It was an odd duck. Caron and the cast took big, genre-hopping swings; one episode might be a musical, the next might be written in iambic pentameter, and another could be a homage to big-screen boxing melodramas. It was arguably the ballsiest network series prior to the 1990 premiere of "Twin Peaks."
And somehow, in the middle of the Reagan era, "Moonlighting" became a Nielsen ratings behemoth.
American television viewers weren't exactly clamoring for an amiably off-kilter riff on "The Thin Man" and 1930s - '40s screwball comedies at the time, but once they saw Shepherd and Willis bantering with Hepburn-Grant ease, they were sold. "Moonlighting" roared...
