Last night, producers Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley Jackson hosted Concert for America, a bi-coastal Inauguration Day benefit that included musical and comedic performances from the brightest stars of stage and screen, with inspiring stories and messages from those on the front lines, advocating for freedom and justice for all.

Martin Gage, a veteran Hollywood and New York talent agent whose client roster over the decades included Woody Harrelson, Kirstie Alley, Geraldine Page, Kim Basinger and Tim Robbins, died yesterday in Los Angeles. He was 89.

His death was announced by the Brs/Gage Talent Agency.

Born in New York on May 4, 1934, Gage began his show business career as an actor in the 1950s, performing on and Off Broadway, as well as in summer stock and the Las Vegas production of the musical comedy La Plume De Ma Tante.

Gage shifted his focus to representation in the 1960s, first as a manager, and then as an agent. He joined the Fifi Oscard Agency, and after four years became a partner in the newly-dubbed Oscard-Gage Agency. In 1973, he opened The Gage Group in New York, and two years later moved to Los Angeles to expand the agency.

There aren't very many major American animated features that weren't made by Disney, and some of the best were created by animation master Don Bluth. Bluth was a Disney animator who left the company citing "creative differences," and he went on to create classics like "The Secret of Nimh," "An American Tale," and "The Land Before Time." In 1994, Bluth teamed with 20th Century Fox and longtime collaborator Gary Goldman to create Fox Animation Studios. Their first feature was "Anastasia," a historical adventure story about Anastasia Romanov, the daughter of the last Russian Tsar and possibly the only survivor of the mass assassination of her family. The film earned two Academy Award nominations -- for the original song "Journey to the Past" and the movie's score -- and is remembered by many '90s kids for being a weird and wonderful alternative to the movies from the House of Mouse.

Rebecca Luker, a three-time Tony Award nominee and one of Broadway’s most acclaimed and popular musical actresses, died today at a New York City hospital following a nearly yearlong battle with Als, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. She was 59.

Her death was confirmed to The New York Times by her agent Sarah Fargo. Luker was married to Broadway actor Danny Burstein (Moulin Rouge!).

The actress announced in February that she’d been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, tweeting: “Hello friends. I have some tough news. Late last year I was diagnosed with Als. The Wallis Annenberg Center for Performing Arts announces today An Evening of Wicked Fun Honoring Stephen Schwartz, a Spring Celebration fundraising event presented by the legendary House of Harry Winston, highlighting the work of the award-winning composer/lyricist of classic musicals including Wicked, Pippin, Godspell, Enchanted and more.

The evening will take place on Thursday, May 16, 2019, beginning at 6:30 pm at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts and will feature performances from beloved artists including Idina Menzel, Megan Hilty, Andrea Martin, Liz Callaway, Angel Blue and many others! Proceeds from the night will support the artistic, education, and outreach programs of The Wallis which serve more than 70,000 audience members annually, including thousands of underserved students from throughout the greater Los Angeles area with limited access to the arts. Brian Stokes Mitchell, Chairman of The Actors Fund and Joe Benincasa it's CEO came to Palm Beach for the the 8th Annual Heart amp Soul Gala which was started by Anka Palitz. Anka, for the past 20 years has been the FundraIsing Chair of Ctfd. BroadwayWorld was at the event which honored philanthropist Sydell Miller. Marcelo Gomes received the organizations Dance Award, and the capacity crowd at The Breakers were entertained by Liz Callaway and local Palm Beach dancers.
