Exclusive: Stephen Moyer’s Art Detectives has set a new record for Acorn TV.

The crime drama debuted on June 9 and quickly eclipsed the streamer’s popular series Harry Wild to claim the most-watched new series premiere ever on the platform, Deadline can exclusively reveal.

In terms of subscriber acquisition, Art Detectives is already the No. 2 series of all time, behind only the new series A Remarkable Place to Die, which also premiered earlier this year.

“We are thrilled by the overwhelming response to Art Detectives,” executive producer Paul Powell said in a statement Wednesday. “It’s a joy to see viewers taking Mick and Shazia to their hearts and embracing their world of fakes and forgeries. Per Acorn, Murder Mystery May also attracted a record number of unique, engaged subscribers, up double digits from the streamer’s average over the past 12 months. New subscription sign ups reached a four-year high, up 70% from the prior 12-month average.

It’s official: PBS Masterpiece’s adaptation of The Forsyte Saga has been renewed.

Deadline revealed in March that a second season of The Forsytes was on the cards, even though the adaptation of John Galsworthy’s novel is yet to premiere.

PBS Masterpiece said Season 1 will debut in the U.S. in 2026. British viewers will get The Forsytes this year after Paramount-owned network 5 acquired the series.

The Forsytes hasn't even premiered and good news about Season 2 is already coming our way. Today, Masterpiece on PBS announced that the cast of the next season of the period drama series is expanding. Richard Rankin (Outlander) is one of the new names that will integrate the cast of the upcoming episodes, which are currently filming in the U.K. Season 1 is expected to premiere on Masterpiece on PBS in March 2026.

The addition only underscores how PBS is confident in the story of The Forsytes. The renewal for Season 2 was announced three months ago, way before Season 1 premiered. Rankin plays fan-favorite Roger in Outlander and has also been in the cast of other high-profile series such as The Last Kingdom and Rebus. Aside from Rankin, Season 2 has added Sarah Alexander (Pennyworth) and Nia Ashi (Bob Marley: One Love).

Leave it to rom-com staple Richard Curtis to transform Logan Roy into Santa Claus.

Curtis is turning to the world of animation with Netflix film “That Christmas,” which stars “Succession” alum Brian Cox as St. Nick. “Love Actually” and “About Time” writer/director Curtis adapted the script from his own bestselling children’s book series; Curtis and Peter Souter share screenplay credit. Veteran character animator and story artist Simon Otto (“How to Train Your Dragon”) makes his directorial debut with the film.

“That Christmas” follows a series of entwined tales about love and loneliness, family and friends, and Santa Claus making one big mistake, according to the official synopsis. Oh, and there is also “an enormous number of turkeys!”

Stephen Moyer is set to star in and executive produce Art Detectives, described as an “aesthetically pleasing crime drama.” Acorn TV greenlit the series, and production is currently underway in Belfast and Northern Ireland.

Nina Singh (The Lazarus Project), Sarah Alexander (Coupling), and Larry Lamb (EastEnders) will co-star.

“I’m very excited to bring the slightly quirky Mick Palmer to life in this wonderfully creative detective series,” said Moyer. “The writing team on Art Detectives have done a great job of cleverly weaving together intriguing storylines, notable pieces of art, and a bit of history thrown in for good measure. Due later this year, the film marks the directorial debut of animation veteran Simon Otto and comes from Locksmith Animation (“Ron’s Gone Wrong”). “That Christmas” is adapted from the children’s book series by BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated writer and director Richard Curtis.

Investigation Discovery is set to premiere the new documentary series Let Us Prey: A Ministry of Scandals on November 24, 2024. The true crime docuseries explores Independent Fundamental Baptist (Ifb) Churches and charts the struggles of victims of Ifb’s predatory behavior via interviews with survivors and church defectors.

The first two episodes of the four-part docuseries air on November 24th at 9pm Et/Pt. The final two episodes follow on November 25th.
