Survivor: Season 41 Ratings
Survivor : États-Unis (2000)
We already know that the Survivor TV series won't be cancelled soon since CBS previously greenlighted season 42 for spring. Could that be the end of this competition series or, is one of the network's most popular unscripted series essentially guaranteed to be renewed for a 43rd cycle? At what point will CBS cut this show back to one cycle a year, ala ABC's Dancing with the Stars and The Voice on NBC? Stay tuned.

A competition series, the Survivor TV show is hosted (as always) by Jeff Probst. In this 41st edition, aka "Survivor 41," 18 new players are relocated to the Mamanuca Islands of Fiji and are divided into three tribes -- Luvu, Ua, and Yase. ‘Survivor 41’ spoilers: Bootlist, eliminations in order
Image
After more than a year delay because of the Covid-19 pandemic, “Survivor” finally returned to CBS’s schedule in September 2021. In the two-hour season premiere, Jeff Probst welcomed 18 all-new castaways to Fiji for their shot at becoming the winner of the $1 million check. The first two voted-out players were Eric Abraham and Sara Wilson, but they’re hardly the only ones to feel the agony of having their torches snuffed at tribal council. ‘Survivor 41’ elimination predictions: Are the Yase three in danger?
Image
On “Survivor,” there’s nothing worse than being outnumbered at the merge, and that’s exactly what’s happened to the Yase three, aka Xander Hastings, Evvie Jagoda and Tiffany Seely. When their fourth Yase member, Liana Wallace, ditched them for the Campout alliance, that left the yellow trio with a huge numbers disadvantage on a merged tribe of 12 people. At the end of last week’s hectic tribal council, Sydney Segal was sent packing as she received one more vote than Evvie, but can the Yase three survive yet another week?

See Everything to know about ‘Survivor 41’

According to our “Survivor 41” elimination predictions, all three outcasts are in danger of having their torches snuffed by Jeff Probst in Episode 8. Tiffany comes in first place with 11/8 odds, followed by Evvie in second place at 39/20 odds. Danny McCray actually appears in the third place position at 16/1 odds, and then Xander completes...

‘Survivor 41’: Black castaways create their own ‘Big Brother’-style Cookout alliance
Image
When the merge kinda-sorta happened on the sixth episode of “Survivor 41,” it brought together people from all three tribes. Immediately, the show’s four remaining Black castaways — Shantel “Shan” Smith from Ua, Liana Wallace from Yase, and Deshawn Radden and Danny McCray from Luvu — struck an agreement to remain loyal to each other for the rest of the game. While they didn’t give an official name to their group, fans of “Big Brother 23” immediately had flashbacks to the Cookout alliance, which dominated that season and resulted in a Black person winning for the first time ever.

In truth, this 41st cycle of “Survivor” was filmed back in the spring, well before the “BB23” houseguests created their Cookout alliance during the most recent summer installment. “More than any other season that I think I’ve ever watched on ‘Survivor,’ I think Season 41 has been the most diverse and most inclusive and representative of America,...

‘Survivor 41’: Is the Shot in the Dark twist a bust? [Poll]
Image
So far on “Survivor 41,” there have been six eliminations and still no one has used their Shot in the Dark die advantage. Is the twist a bust? (Vote in our poll below.) Remember, this brand new wrinkle to the game essentially puts one-sixth of an immunity idol in every single player’s pocket. In order to activate the power, they have to wager their vote by putting their six-sided die into the urn and then get lucky by drawing the “safe” parchment. Each player can only use the so-called “Hail Mary” twist once per game.

See Everything to know about ‘Survivor 41’

Looking back, it’s easy to play armchair quarterback and say that Eric Abraham, Sara Wilson, David Voce, Brad Reese, Jd Robinson and Genie Chen all should have played their die for their one-in-six chance of being safe. In the event they had, all votes cast against them wouldn...

‘Survivor’ sneak peek video: Yase tribe discovers hundreds of baby turtles — aww, cute! [Watch]
Image
The Yase tribe takes a break from all the drama during Wednesday’s fourth episode of “Survivor 41” when they discover hundreds of baby turtles that have just been hatched. “You have to see this,” Tiffany Seely excitedly tells her tribe mates Liana Wallace, Xander Hastings and Evvie Jagoda. “You gotta hurry. It’s crazy. Follow me.” She then escorts her friends through the jungle to a nearby beach, where they witness the cute little reptiles scurrying across the sand to get to the water. Watch the “Survivor” sneak peek video above before the episode airs October 13 on CBS.

See Everything to know about ‘Survivor 41’

Yase jokingly gives the turtles some Jeff Probst-like “motivation,” telling them to “dig deep” and that they “gotta dig.” At one point, a shelled baby has trouble getting out of a hole, but after the tribe’s encouragement, it is able to escape and continue on its journey.

‘Survivor 41’ episode 3 recap: Who was voted out in ‘My Million Dollar Mistake’? [Updating Live Blog]
Image
Heading into the third episode of “Survivor 41,” Yase was feeling defeated after voting out David Voce, which brought them down to only four tribe members (they ousted Eric Abraham in the premiere). To compare, Luvu was still strong at six people and Ua had five castaways as they blindsided Sara Wilson in the first episode. So which tribe lost the immunity challenge during Wednesday’s episode and had to visit with Jeff Probst at tribal council? And did anyone use their shot in the dark this week?

‘Survivor 41’ deleted scene: Yase tribe feels like ‘a bunch of schlumps’ after struggling to make fire [Watch]
Image
During the “Survivor” Season 41 premiere, the Ua tribe won fire-making supplies right out of the gate and had no trouble building a fire, thanks mostly to Jairus “Jd” Robinson. The other two tribes, Yase and Luvu, were punished and had to earn their tools by nominating two members each to carry ocean water back and forth to fill two large barrels. Yase chose Xander Hastings and David Voce, while Luvu went with Danny McCray and Deshawn Radden. What viewers didn’t see at home was just how hard Yase struggled to make fire, even after they earned their flint. Watch the “Survivor 41” deleted scene video above.

Xander and Tiffany Seely tried their hardest to make fire by repeatedly hitting the flint with their dull machete. “It’s just going to take some time,” Tiffany surmised. “That’s okay.” The video then hilariously cut to a shot of the moon at night,...

“I was personally excited and maybe hesitant,” explains Gold Derby’s Kevin Jacobson about his expectations heading into “Survivor 41.” He joins Marcus James Dixon and Matt Noble in our weekly Gold Derby “Survivor” slugfest. Marcus adds, “I was worried there would be an ‘Extinction Island’ [where those voted out have a shot at re-entering the game]. I’m glad there’s none. When you’re out, you’re out!” Watch the lively discussion in the video recap above, in which we also address Jeff Probst‘s “Come on in, guys” controversy.

Did ‘Survivor 41’ tribes Yase and Ua vote out the right players in Episode 1? [Polls]
Image
“Survivor 41” has arrived at long last, airing a supersized two-hour premiere on Wednesday night. The 18 new castaways helped kick off a whole new era of the show and by the end of the night, two of them saw their “Survivor” dreams die as they were voted out by their tribes. After the Luvu tribe won the first Immunity Challenge, Yase and Ua went to Tribal Council where they booted 50-year-old cyber security analyst Eric Abraham and 23-year-old healthcare consultant Sara Wilson, respectively. But did the tribes vote out the right players in the end? Vote in our Episode 1 polls below.

At Yase, two clear-cut options presented themselves when it came to figuring out who to send home first: Abraham or Tiffany Seely. Tiffany’s troubles began when Abraham gossiped behind her back about her not carrying her weight at the first challenge.

The 2021 BAFTA Winners & Interviews from the Red Carpet
Frances McDormand in Nomadland (2020)
It’s been a strange year, but cinema endures. The 2021 British Academy Film and Television Awards took place at the Royal Albert Hall on the 11th of April, 2021. In a first in BAFTA history, four women have been nominated in the Director category, including Nomadland director Chloe Zhao, Sarah Gavron for Rocks, and Shannon Murphy for Babyteeth. Other notable nominees include Promising Young Woman, The Trial of the Chicago 7, The Father, Saint Maud and Minari. It is a diverse line up, and a very unusual time but the red carpets are rolling out, even if they are in living rooms around the world.

Yesterday director Ang Lee was entered into the BAFTA Fellowship, and Noel Clarke was awarded the Outstanding British Contribution to cinema. This evening Edith Bowman and Dermot O’Leary hosted the awards and it was a delight to see Yun-Jung Youn’s incredible win for her role in Minari.

Image
Exclusive: Hot off of a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding Debut By A British Writer, Director or Producer, South African drama Moffie is due to release in select U.S. theaters and on digital and VOD platforms via IFC Films on April 9. Check out the new trailer above.

Written and directed by Oliver Hermanus, the movie explores the life of a closeted young boy serving his mandatory military service during Apartheid in 1980s South Africa. An adaptation of André-Carl van der Merwe’s iconic memoir, the film exposes the psychological violence of institutionalized homophobia. “Moffie” is a potent and derogatory Afrikaans term for homosexual.

The Afrikaans- and English-language title originally premiered as part of the Venice Film Festival’s Horizons section in 2019 and later played the London Film Festival, going on to receive three nominations at the British Independent Film Awards. Shannon Murphy scores BAFTA nomination for ‘Babyteeth’
Image
Shannon Murphy has been nominated for the BAFTA Award for best direction for her debut feature, Babyteeth.

Murphy is in good company, with fellow nominees for the prize including Thomas Vinterberg for Another Round; Lee Issac Chung for Minari; Chloé Zhao for Nomadland; Jasmila Žbanić for Quo Vadis, Aida? and Sarah Gavron for Rocks.

It is the first time in BAFTA history that four women have been nominated in the director category.

These are the first edition of nominations to follow BAFTA’s seven-month diversity review, which came about after it faced significant backlash one year ago for a lack of diversity among nominees – including an all-male director category. Three of the nominated directors are also up for best film not in the English language.

The BAFTA nod is yet another accolade for Babyteeth and Murphy’s work, following on from the film’s premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival in 2019. There,...

BAFTA Film Awards 2021 Nominations: ‘Nomadland,’ ‘Rocks’ Dominate with Seven Noms Each
Image
Nominations for the 2021 Ee British Academy Film Awards have been announced by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). This year’s BAFTA Film Awards ceremony was set to take place February 14, but the organization pushed the awards to April 11 after the Academy announced it was delaying the Oscars telecast to the end of April. The BAFTAs were the first major awards ceremony to push back its 2021 ceremony date following the Oscars delay.

“This change from the previously announced date of Feb. 14 acknowledges the impact of the global pandemic and accommodates an extended eligibility period. Further details on the ceremony will be announced later in the year,” BAFTA said in a statement at the time. “The date for the 2022 Film Awards, announced last year as 13 February, is currently under consideration as part of the Awards Review, and any changes will be published once the Review has been completed,...

Match #1: Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair def. Natalya & Trish Stratus via Disqualification The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Battling Natalya in a Submission Match may be a taller order than Becky Lynch anticipates: For all The Man’s bravado, she found herself ensnared in The Queen of Harts’ Sharpshooter for the second consecutive week, this time at the conclusion of a tag team bout that paired Lynch and Charlotte Flair against their respective SummerSlam opponents, Natalya and WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. On the bright side, Becky technically won the match, given that The Queen of Harts refused to release the hold past the count of five,...

The 2015 Ee BAFTA Awards were handed out in London Sunday night and while the broadcast aired hours later in the United States, it didn't stop us from chronicling the twists and turns of a show often seen as a bellwether for the Academy Awards. It took home only three BAFTAs, but "Boyhood" was the biggest winner of the night as it won Best Film and Richard Linklater earned Director honors. "The Grand Budapest Hotel" took home five statues including Original Screenplay for Wes Anderson, Production Design, Costumes, Original Music and Make Up & Hair. "Whiplash" earned three BAFTAs including J.K. Simmons for Supporting Actor, Editing and a somewhat surprising win in Sound. Expected Oscar winners Julianne Moore took Leading Actress and Patricia Arquette took Supporting Actress. Eddie Redmayne earned a key win over rival Michael Keaton by claiming the Lead Actor BAFTA for "The Theory of Everything." The latter also won...
