Star Trek Day, September 8, commemorates the first Star Trek episode to air on U.S. television in 1966, an episode called "The Man Trap."
On this, the third annual celebration of Star Trek Day by Paramount+, the two-hour-long live-streamed event, was co-hosted by Tawny Newsome and Paul F. Tompkins.
In addition to announcements about the various series, the program included a loving tribute to Nichelle Nichols, who passed away on July 30 at the age of 89.
Newsome, of course, is also the voice of Ensign Beckett Mariner on Star Trek: Lower Decks, while Tompkins voices Dr. Migleemo and various other characters on the animated comedy.

True Blood, Season 7, Episode 3, “Fire in the Hole”
Written by Brian Buckner
Directed by Lee Rose
Airs Sundays at 9pm Est on HBO
On this week’s True Blood, Sookie risks her life to save the missing townspeople, Sam confronts the Bon Temps mob, Pam tries to revive a disinterested Eric, Sarah Newlin returns, and another major character perishes.
From the very beginning of the show’s pilot, True Blood has done its best to explore the idea of belonging and fitting into a world that doesn’t want or accept you. Sure, the show originally used vampires as a metaphor for Lgbt rights, but, with the final season, the struggle to belong is much more rooted in the show’s supernatural and small-town environment.
Sookie, who has progressively supported the vampires and other supernatural creatures inhabiting her world from the start (thanks, of course, to her own slightly-supernatural existence...

Stockard Channing boosted the film's star power and it was a touching portrait of how a family works together in coming out, acceptance and realizing that unconditional love is what's most important.
So, whatever happened to Stockard and the women of The Truth About Jane?
Stockard Channing (Jane's homophobic-turned-understanding mother)
Although her most famous role will always be Rizzo in Grease, Stockard has worked in both TV and film since 1971. Ellen Muth (Jane, a 16-year-old lesbian...
So, whatever happened to Stockard and the women of The Truth About Jane?
Stockard Channing (Jane's homophobic-turned-understanding mother)
Although her most famous role will always be Rizzo in Grease, Stockard has worked in both TV and film since 1971. After a starring role on The West Wing, she appeared in Multiple Sarcasms, lent her voice to The Cleveland Show and is now working on a new film (A Fonder Heart) with Daryl Hannah and Rebecca De Mornay.

Syfy's Haven has largely been a surprise for me. A lot of shows have tried to bring the creepy to television in the last few years, and none of them managed much success. Worse, putting Stephen King works on film is always tricky, and more often than not results in something fairly goofy.
Actually, Haven is pretty goofy, but it's a catchy sort of goofy, and it keeps pulling me in.
Emily Rose, who stars as Audrey Parker, was available recently to talk about the show. Among other things, she talks about the upcoming Groundhog Day- esque episode which finds her reliving events which result in a runaway car killing the people who are close to her.
It's a great interview, and I think (as many noted at Comic-Con) that something about her personality comes through to the show, and is responsible for much of its success. I have to warn you,...

As fans of the Syfy series Haven already know, the key question to be answered this season is not who is Audrey Parker, but which of the many men in her life will she end up with. After last week’s surprising reveal in which Audrey and Chris Brody (Jason Priestly) took their blossoming relationship to the next level, this week’s upcoming episode entitled “Audrey Parker’s Day Off” gives Audrey a chance to look at how much her competing love interests mean to her. Given the chance (or perhaps curse) to relive the same day over and over again, Audrey assesses her relationships with Nathan, Duke and Chris. Talking time out of her busy schedule to chat with press, Emily Rose candidly shared her perspective on the show and many loves of Audrey Parker.

Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry could be coming to a small screen near you. It's been reported that she's attached to star in a drama project currently being shopped around pay cable networks like HBO and Showtime.
According to Deadline.com, DreamWorks TV has sent out a spec for the project -- entitled 'Higher Learning' -- to several pay cable networks, and is hoping for a quick decision. Details are sketchy right now, but the TV drama would see Berry starring as a college professor.
The script was written by 30-year industry veteran Lee Rose, who was queen of TV movies in their heyday during the 1990s. Since then Rose has worked as a director and producer on series such as 'Weeds,' 'Related,' 'Haven' and 'Greek.'

Rose takes on 'Justice' case with rights buy
Producer-director Lee Rose has optioned film rights to the Edgar Allan Poe Award-winning mystery Simple Justice, the first of the gay-themed Benjamin Justice novels by John Morgan Wilson. The gritty L.A.-set novel, published in 1997, follows Justice, a disgraced alcoholic ex-journalist grieving over the death of his lover from AIDS. Justice sets out on a dangerous quest to clear a troubled Latino teenager who has confessed to murder but may be innocent. "It's a really tough and rough book, but I think it's just so beautifully written," Rose said. "A noir story about a gay ex-journalist who's fallen off the edge of the world -- it's something that hasn't been done before." As part of the deal, Rose will own the rights to the character as well as the option to pick up the four other novels in the series. Rose was nominated for a WGA Award in 2001 for The Truth About Jane. She also wrote, directed and produced the Showtime miniseries A Girl Thing, starring Kate Capshaw, Stockard Channing, Rebecca De Mornay and Mia Farrow, and directed and produced the USA Network movie The Color of Courage, starring Linda Hamilton. She is repped by Paul Alan Smith at Broder-Webb-Chervin-Silbermann and attorney Tom Hoberman.
