Nearly 10 years after his death, Peter O’Toole is making a return to the screen in a BritBox documentary from Jim Sheridan.

The revered Irish director, known for narrative films including “My Left Foot” and “In the Name of the Father,” interviewed colleagues and family about the “Lawrence of Arabia” star for “Peter O’Toole: Along the Sky Road to Aqaba.” They range from Kenneth Branagh, Brian Cox, Anthony Hopkins, Derek Jacobi and Stephen Fry to ex-wife Siân Phillips and daughter Kate O’Toole. Each interview helps shed light on the actor’s complicated yet brilliant life and career.

O’Toole, who grew up in England with Irish heritage, was nominated for eight Oscars, winning an honorary Academy Award in 2003. The actor was also known for his stage work and fondness for alcohol.

Irish director Philip Doherty’s black comedy-musical Redemption Of A Rogue was a double award-winner in the online closing-night ceremony of the Galway Film Fleadh on Sunday July 12.

London, Dec 23: Legendary actor Peter O'Toole, best known for his role in "Lawrence Of Arabia", was laid to rest here Dec 21.

Peter passed away Dec 14 following a long illness. He was 81.

The funeral was held at the Golders Green Crematorium, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

The service, which was attended by his ex-wife, Welsh actress Sian Phillips, was followed by a wake at the late actor's house.

During the funeral, his daughter Kate O'Toole addressed the congregation and said: "The world has lost a great actor, but I'm not concerned with that. I simply have lost a great dad and the best friend I ever had. Daddy made me laugh more than anyone else I have ever met in my life."

The actor Peter O'Toole, who found stardom in David Lean's masterpiece Lawrence of Arabia, has died aged 81, his agent has said.

The acclaimed leading man who overcame stomach cancer in the 1970s passed away on Saturday at the Wellington hospital in London following a long illness, Steve Kenis said.

O’Toole, who’d been suffering from an ongoing illness, passed away in a hospital, according to his agent Steve Kenis. "Ireland, and the world, has lost one of the giants of film and theatre," Irish President Michael D. Higgins said in a statement.
