"The Potential Is Clear": Kevin Feige Teases Mephisto's MCU Future & Addresses Thanos Ties
Image
Mephisto's future with the Marvel Cinematic Universe gets addressed by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. After an endless amount of speculation, the MCU timeline finally brought one of Marvel Comics' most powerful villains to life in 2025, with the arrival of Mephisto in the Ironheart TV show during episode 6.

Portrayed by Sasha Baron Cohen, who brought the famous supervillain into the franchise, the MCU has just scratched the surface with Mephisto after only a single episode of television. With Mephisto being in the MCU, the natural question is what is next for him after his Ironheart debut, especially after his deal with Riri Williams.

As Mephisto's future with the MCU has just started, GamesRadar was recently part of a press conference where Feige finally spoke more about Cohen's character. Kevin Feige responded with a straightforward "yes" when asked if there were plans to use the character more in the future,...

A Cracked Finale and Killer Cameo Are Powering This MCU Show to Streaming Dominance
Image
This article contains Major Spoilers for Ironheart.

Ironheart has topped the Disney+ top ten streaming charts, two weeks after her TV debut. MCU fans are raving over her hero's journey, and of course, that Mephisto cameo.

Ironheart is the most-viewed Disney+ show this week (per FlixPatrol), outpacing fan-favorite seriesGrey's Anatomy, Modern Family, and The Bear. Ironheart's breakout run is expected, especially after fans caught wind of the scene that sets up Riri Williams' arc for Season 2. That's still up in the air, and to date, only Loki, What If…?, and Daredevil: Born Again have been renewed. At the very least, Ironheart is expected to appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. Mephisto's appearance has also fueled hopes that the big bad will dominate the MCU.

Riri almost faced off against a different villain in that final scene, according to series creator Chinaka Hodge. "We came in with a different big bad,...

Inside that surprise ‘Ironheart’ cameo — and how it could net the Marvel show an Emmy nod (spoilers)
Image
Warning: This post contains big spoilers for the season finale of Ironheart.

Ironheart just learned a lesson that Batman mastered decades ago: Never dance with the devil in the pale moonlight.

The season finale of Marvel's latest Disney+ series introduced Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) to a man of wealth and taste, played by a surprise guest star who has been around for a long, long year with many different looks and faces.

Care to guess his name? It's Sacha Baron Cohen and he's the physical incarnation of a metaphysical being that Marvel fans have been expecting to meet for years — the demon Mephisto. Besides being a big name get, Cohen's devilish cameo is the natural endpoint for Ironheart's drift towards more supernatural realms in its final batch of episodes.

Here's what the Mephisto reveal means for the Marvel Cinematic Universe... and Ironheart's 2026 Emmy hopes.

First look at Sacha Baron Cohen as Mephisto in #Ironheart.

Words of War, the gripping political thriller that’s already being called one of 2025’s most timely and urgent films, has officially made its North American digital streaming debut — and it's only just getting started. After premiering theatrically on May 2 to coincide with World Press Freedom Day, the film is now available across all major digital platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango, Google Play, YouTube, Verizon Fios, and more. Executive produced by Sean Penn and Congressman Eric Swalwell, and directed by James Strong, Words of War tells the real-life story of journalist Anna Politkovskaya, who was assassinated in 2006 after years of defiant, unflinching reporting on Russia’s war in Chechnya and the rise of Vladimir Putin. Australian Actor Rick Donald Boards Final Season Of ITV & RTÉ’s ‘The Dry’
Image
Exclusive: Australian actor Rick Donald (The Office) has boarded the third and final season of ITV and RTÉ’s The Dry.

Cameras have rolled on the concluding outing for the Dublin-set dramedy, which sees

BAFTA and IFTA nominee Róisín Gallagher reprise her role as recovering alcoholic Shiv Sheridan. Last seen holding the seams of her dysfunctional family together, and leaving her ex-boyfriend to board a plane to Melbourne by himself, Shiv now meets Daryl, a handsome and mysterious Australian stranger.

Unsurprisingly, Donald will play Daryl. He is an Australian acting vet who has appeared in the likes of Home and Away, Wentworth and the recent Office: Australia.

Series 3 of The Dry sees original cast return including IFTA nominee Siobhán Cullen as Caroline, Adam Richardson as Ant, Oscar nominee Ciarán Hinds as Tom, Pom Boyd as Bernie, Moe Dunford as Jack and Eoin Duffy as Rory.

Produced by Normal People maker Element Pictures, The Dry has over the past few years been a rare gem as an ITV comedy-drama running for multiple seasons, while it has also performed well for Irish broadcaster RTÉ.

The show is created by BAFTA-nominated playwright Nancy Harris (Dates) and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Paddy Breathnach. Harris said: “It has been a true joy to see audiences embrace the Sheridan family in all their dysfunctional glory and I am so grateful to have gotten to tell this story over three seasons. The third and final season aims to go deeper than ever before, really getting under the skin of Shiv and the family in a way that we hope is both surprising, funny and (painfully) honest.”

Element Pictures produces in association with Fís Eireann/Screen Ireland and ITV Studios. The show is executive produced by Emma Norton, Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe for Element alongside Harris and Breathnach. ITV Studios handles global distribution.

Jacob Elordi on Collaborating with Justin Kruzel on the Amazon Series ‘The Narrow Road to the Deep North’ – ‘You Should Meet Your Heroes’
Image
Without knowing it, Jacob Elordi and Justin Kurzel had formed a mutual admiration society prior to collaborating on the limited series “The Narrow Road to the Deep North.” Elordi had been a fan of the filmmaker, a fellow Aussie, since seeing Kurzel’s gutting 2011 feature debut, “Snowtown,” when he was a young teenager. “Especially in Australia, it’s one of the first films that you find when you’re in high school that’s a little different and you have to talk to people about,” says the actor.

Kurzel, like the rest of the world, had been watching Elordi’s ascent in projects like “Euphoria,” “Priscilla” and “Saltburn.” He sent the actor an email saying he was adapting Richard Flanagan’s acclaimed novel “The Narrow Road to the Deep North” for television. And he wanted Elordi to play the role of Dorrigo Evans, a soldier whose passionate love affair with...

Jacob Elordi Had to Get Raw for His Most Profound Work Yet in ‘The Narrow Road to the Deep North’
Image
Jacob Elordi’s latest project is a return to TV with Justin Kurzel’s limited series “The Narrow Road to the Deep North,” which premiered on Prime Video last month. Following its premiere in Berlin in February, reviews raved about Elordi’s performance as 1940s war doctor Dorrigo Evans, following the Aussie story adapted from Richard Flanagan’s novel of the same name.

For his first television role following “Euphoria,” Elordi was particularly drawn in by director Kurzel, who sent him an email asking if he had interest in the project, and in turn, led him toward his most profound performance to date. Upon signing onto the series, he had 12 months to sit with the material and prepare before filming began. “I had about a year to myself to marinate in all of the period information and in the book. I had a long time, quite boringly, to just sit and think about it,...

Zack Snyder's Justice League Theatrical Cut Was Ruined By A Simple Studio Note
Image
It feels like it was so, so very long ago.

James Gunn's newly rebooted superhero universe, nicknamed the Dcu (for DC Universe), is set to launch on July 11, 2025, with the release of "Superman," yet another live-action feature film to star the Man of Steel. The people looking forward to "Superman" are likely uninterested in recalling the decade-long debacle that was the Dceu (that is: the DC Extended Universe), the 16-film cycle spearheaded by director Zack Snyder. The Dceu began with the release of the not-at-all-good "Man of Steel" in 2013 and chugged along until the release of the even-worse "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" in 2023. In between, there was at least one great film ("Shazam!"), one good film ("Wonder Woman"), and a lot of tiresome trash.

The Dceu had a lot of defenders, but not enough to make it equal the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Disney's superhero film...

Jacob Elordi Scores Primetime Emmy Submission as Cannes Market Heats Up for Outer Dark
Jacob Elordi
Jacob Elordi’s performance in The Narrow Road Into the Deep North earned a last-minute shift onto the Primetime Emmy ballot, positioning the five-part Australian drama against heavyweight contenders in limited-series categories. Sony Pictures Television and Prime Video submitted the show just before the Television Academy’s May 8 deadline, moving it from the International branch into contention for Best Limited or Anthology Series, Lead Actor (Elordi), Directing (Justin Kurzel) and Writing (Shaun Grant).

Adapted from Richard Flanagan’s Booker Prize–winning novel, The Narrow Road Into the Deep North follows an Australian surgeon before and after World War II. Elordi portrays the younger version of a doctor whose Pow experience is haunted by memories of a wartime affair (Odessa Young) and revisited decades later by Ciarán Hinds. Since its April 18 release on Prime Video, the series has achieved a perfect Rotten Tomatoes rating, edging past Netflix’s British import Adolescence.

Emmys: Jacob Elordi’s Aussie Limited Series ‘The Narrow Road to the Deep North’ Is Late Entry Into Primetime, Not International Race (Exclusive)
Image
At the last minute, the Emmys race is getting a big new contender.

The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively report that The Narrow Road to the Deep North, a hugely acclaimed Australian limited series that was directed by Justin Kurzel (Nitram and The Order) and stars Jacob Elordi (Euphoria and Saltburn), was submitted for Primetime — as opposed to International — Emmys consideration just ahead of the TV Academy’s May 8 entry deadline.

The show, which Sony Pictures Television licensed to Amazon’s Prime Video, and which dropped on that streaming service April 18, will be on the ballot in a handful of categories: best limited or anthology series, actor in a limited or anthology series or a TV movie (Elordi), directing for a limited or anthology series or a TV movie (Kurzel), and writing for a limited or anthology series or a TV movie (Shaun Grant, who penned all five episodes).

‘Words of War’ Review: A Crusader for Truth in Putin’s Russia Is Memorialized in a Less-Than-Bold Biopic
Image
It’s a potent moment for a film like “Words of War,” as press freedoms and other accoutrements of democracy seem to be under attack around the world. There remain few stronger recent-history illustrations of that threat than the case of Anna Politkovskaya, a prominent Russian journalist noted for her relentless exposure of government corruption and harmful policies, particularly around the Second Chechen War. Presumably in retaliation, she was assassinated two decades ago — on Vladimir Putin’s birthday, yet.

Politkovskaya certainly merits the admiring dramatic treatment accorded by “Words of War,” which counts Sean Penn among its executive producers. But this U.K. production, with Maxine Peake in the central role, earns more points for its noble intentions than artistic inspiration or raw impact. It’s a polished, pedestrian biopic, with direction by British TV veteran James Strong that smooths over instead of elevating Eric Poppen’s cliche-riddled script. While the subject matter is compelling,...
